- jordanv1, on 06/10/2009, -7/+262Smith has always been a shining beacon of light in a FNC sea of absolute crap. Which is why I'm always surprised to see he's still employed.
- andrewgolis, on 06/10/2009, -14/+216Good for him. Fox needs to push back on these nuts.
- AgeofMastery, on 06/10/2009, -9/+137This is Fox News saying it. You can't brush it off as the "liberal media" this time.
- legs1, on 06/10/2009, -10/+131Kudos to Smith for calling out his own.
- HopeMonger, on 06/10/2009, -12/+117Perhaps Fox should stop fanning these flames?
- inactive, on 06/10/2009, -9/+94Only guy on Fox with any integrity.
- dissolutionman, on 06/10/2009, -8/+91Shep's a sane guy, and usually doesn't let his politics get in the way of his newscast on Studio B, but it seems like the situation is beginning to force his hand, which I think is pretty sad. I watch his program when I go to the gym on the treadmill screen, and it's just a great informative newscast without the opinionated ***** that you get on the cable networks later in the day.
Those e-mailers are just really bitter, misinformed people who are mad that Shep's (correctly) telling them they're wrong. Obama HAS produced his birth certificate (see here: http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/born_in_th ... ) and any real socialist will proudly inform you that Obama is definitely not one of them. - BIGOTHER1, on 06/10/2009, -18/+97This is what Fox has wanted to happen -- getting psychotics to do their dirty work for them...
- Anomaly100, on 06/10/2009, -17/+76 I sent Glenn Beck an email once because, well, you already know why. He's a fear inciting piece of dirt. He tries to get the wingnuts wound up, thinking President Obama will personally kick their door in and grab their guns, while singing a song, then send their kids off to a FEMA f-ing labor camp!
At the end of this clip, they blame the blogs. Where are we supposed to get the news, from THEM?! Pfft! - ZimbuTheMonkey, on 06/11/2009, -2/+50I don't get it... he's making sense, but he's also on Fox News...
- shadus, on 06/11/2009, -2/+44That's like saying a gram of gold balances a ton of lead.
- ohplease, on 06/11/2009, -4/+46The email he was reading was written by Sean Hannity.
- MattB123, on 06/11/2009, -8/+48He is amazingly rational for a Fox guy. I wonder if they will fire him for that.
- shanealeslie, on 06/11/2009, -2/+39"Fox need to push back on these nuts."
Haven't heard anyone say that since the last furry orgy. - jrobbi, on 06/11/2009, -2/+33or a air freshener can cover up the smell of ten pounds of *****
- Pigeon, on 06/11/2009, -1/+32"No, Fox News is not becoming liberal. They are liberal and have been for a long time."
Lolololol - CaptObvious, on 06/10/2009, -7/+35Perfect example of what he's talking about: www.hillarysvillage.net
- Batfishy, on 06/11/2009, -1/+28They'll just claim Shep's a liberal.
- inactive, on 06/11/2009, -1/+28Just... Don't even bother with them. Especially the birthers, really they're just beyond help. They could hold the birth certificate in their hands and they'd still be saying it's a forgery. There is literally no set of circumstances under which they would admit that they're wrong, and so their arguments are just pointless.
- D14852001neko, on 06/11/2009, -3/+29He's the side that makes it "fair and balanced", something has to counter-balance all the ***** in FNC.
- inactive, on 06/11/2009, -6/+31What's so terrible about socialism?
- kahoona1, on 06/11/2009, -5/+29Shepard Smith: The only unbiased anchor on Fox News.
Want this stuff to stop? Take O'Reilly and Hannity off the air is where to start. - WraTH017, on 06/11/2009, -3/+27He explained this, if you paid attention.
Considering all these people (hundreds of them emailing him every day) still think Obama is a secret muslim, or a foreign citizen, or a Marxist fascist... it's frightening that there are so many with such a disconnect with reality. People who are already so close to the edge of reason, and it wouldn't take much for them to take their irrational fears and beliefs one step further, like in the case of George Tiller and the guy that opened fire in the Holocaust museum. - Batfishy, on 06/11/2009, -0/+23I think “preposterous” and “hate not based on fact” is kind of calling them out, no?
- Valleye, on 06/11/2009, -0/+23Yes, I am pretty sure if I was alive then I would have HATED Hitler and his cause.
- ohplease, on 06/11/2009, -3/+26I'm in Canada, you'll notice we are not in an economic tailspin and nobody's dying from lack of medical care.
- twiztidsinz, on 06/11/2009, -3/+26They'll find a way...
- Dregganaut, on 06/11/2009, -7/+30Oh look, the nutjobs are here now. Yes, you are extremists.
- inactive, on 06/11/2009, -6/+29Sweden?
You're welcome. - inactive, on 06/11/2009, -2/+23Yeah, I don't think the US is exactly a shining example that our system of government works, so ridiculing socialism seems a bit idiotic.
- inactive, on 06/11/2009, -6/+25Saying that he's a socialist demonstrates a complete separation from reality. That's always scary. I mean Jesus, I can understand disagreeing with his policies, but they're not socialism. You can say that he's completely wrong, but saying he's wrong because he's socialist makes about as much sense as saying he's wrong because he's trying to implement a monarchy.
To put it another way. 2+2=5 is obviously wrong. But if I said 2+2=5 is wrong because 5-2=4, and thus 2+4=5, it is an equally invalid statement. - mtjohnson, on 06/11/2009, -0/+19Here's his birth certificate:

What exactly do you want? Your own copy? - Dregganaut, on 06/11/2009, -0/+19OOOH NOT THE WORD '*****'!
- Batfishy, on 06/11/2009, -3/+22The magnitude of the hatred is what's frightening. Baseless, absurd hatred.
- inactive, on 06/11/2009, -3/+19In principle, I would agree with you, and I do understand and even sympathize with both sides here, but come on, Fox News is worthless. The signal to noise ratio is near zero. Fox News in no way represents a legitimate conservative voice in the news. They're just a joke.
- orb_nsc, on 06/11/2009, -0/+16And a soul.
- Cayfox, on 06/11/2009, -1/+16What's so socialist about shoring up banks and industries so capitalism can continue to function?
- eyepennies, on 06/11/2009, -0/+14"Made it so you can kill babies and not legalize pot"
Please stop posting, for you are an idiot. - bpoteat, on 06/11/2009, -0/+14You referring to them as the "opposition" proves the point that people are making. How is a NEWS channel an "opposition" to anyone? Because they aren't really a news channel - and that is the point. News channels don't have "beliefs" to have arguments with - they simply attempt to report the news in as honest and unbiased way possible.
- oenoneablaze, on 06/11/2009, -2/+16It's scary because you clearly don't know what those words mean, and you're just using them exactly how fearmongering Fox News performers have used them--as meaningless pejoratives--no matter how incorrect that usage is. You can't just say blatantly false things and then validate them by tacking on an "in my opinion" or "what I believe." Real Socialists, Marxists, and Fascists will tell you in no uncertain terms that Obama is not one of them. If you're going to believe things, as a voter your first duty is to make those beliefs _informed_.
Glad to hear you won't shoot our President. That is a huge relief to me--you definitely deserve a pat on the back. - MWeather, on 06/11/2009, -0/+14"Name the country where socialism actually worked and is a beacon of a social success story, please."
Name one where capitalism worked. There are none. All successful socialist or capitalist leaning nations use components of both capitalism and socialism. - MaskedSlacker, on 06/11/2009, -5/+19Ethics? Newspapers? Are you ***** kidding me?
- Cayfox, on 06/11/2009, -0/+13If everybody thought like rbiii, the Tennessee Valley Authority would never have existed and most of the south would be without electricity to this day.
Oh, and incubators in maternity wards would be coin-operated like parking meters... - deus199, on 06/11/2009, -4/+17Where do they think these nuts have been getting their "information"?
Fox News has called Obama everything from a Muslim to a terrorist to the devil himself. They lead ignorant people to believe that he's going to destroy this country, rape their children, kill their pets, and anything else they can muster up to get ratings. - Takfam, on 06/11/2009, -0/+13The best part of this post is the smiley indicating that you think you're clever. As if dropping an F-Bomb is equal in hate to writing a death threat.
- Arramol, on 06/11/2009, -0/+13They already have: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1813385/p ...
- inactive, on 06/11/2009, -4/+16There's free speech, and then there's shouting "FIRE!" in a crowded theater.
- deslock, on 06/11/2009, -0/+12Hell yes!
This is exactly what I thought. They spend 90% of their air time stirring up hatred and then they act all upset and distance themselves when one of these crazies leaps off the deep end. - awtripp, on 06/11/2009, -0/+12I don't think the FreeRepublic crowd knows what they want nor what they stand for. They're pretty disillusioned with incorrectly applied pejoratives and bizarre stereotyping. They throw around the word "liberal" like it means dirty rotten fascist *****.
- Batfishy, on 06/11/2009, -0/+12I think you should check every single one of my 3000 comments and make a judgment about me. Yes.
If you are unaware of the increase in hate-based rhetoric and vitriol, you are clearly uninformed and choose to remain that way. Fox, in the past, did not talk about the hate on its own website. That might change now and I hope it does. -
