- hawkeye17, on 10/11/2007, -3/+12Sounds to me like they feel threatened by people talking about the issues. I wonder why??
- CaptMonkey, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4A pox? What year is this, 1600?
- janeuner, on 10/11/2007, -3/+7And bloggers retort: "Fox News is Degrading, Deceptive, and Distasteful"
- ZornO, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4yes lets make sure the public doesnt talk to *each other* and just gets its information for *corporate* media.
think about things like the 9/11 truth movement - *right or wrong*, would anyone have heard about it if it werent for the internet? nope. is it bad to hear all sides of a story? nope. There were groups of people who lost family members that have been fighting for years, and yet the media never covered them. bleh
eventually the govt and the corps will control the net too, i think. then we are *****. - FyreGoddess, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Beyond having a point, the statement that's being made isn't nearly as infammatory as it is spun. I agree, davev, that it's not just progressive bloggers, but I think it's fair to say that a greater percentage of progressive bloggers tend toward that activist behavior than conservatives, but again, I don't think that what they're saying is inherently a bad thing.
It's a shame that this is coming from two very biased sources. I think that the point within is really interesting and worth discussing, it's really too bad that both sources (thinkprogress and Fox News) are going to automatically cause people to react negatively and miss out on some of what was said because of perception. - rnwen2750, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3I take that as a complement.
- AlvinBlah, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4well, everyone has their bias, but at least with blogs it's personal and not a corporate bias. I can accept a personal slant on a view much faster than an agenda backed by advertising.
- hiPpymIck, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2a vox pop pox
- redrock34, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3And I think Fox News is biased. Blogs cut through the propaganda and ***** unlike mainstream news.
- AndyO3000, on 10/11/2007, -3/+3Mara Liasson has really become an apologist for the Right.
- stepnw1f, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Awww... the fascist Propaganda machine is losing it's credibility because of us leftist bloggers. Boo hoo hoo.......
PS - you shouldn't have lied America into a war. - StrangeFamous, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2This is actually kinda funny. They named the conference "Take Back America", which is pretty much the same slogan that was used repeatedly by rednecks in Vermont after Civil Unions were legalized for homosexuals.
They would write TAKE BACK VERMONT on signs and hang them on the sides of their houses, as if there was some evil force that was conspiring to steal the state from them.
People are so sad when they flock to empty statements like that, it's direct evidence of the power of people who form collective groups to share their xenophobia. It's always easier to hate when your whole neighborhood is as clueless as you are, and they all start hanging the same sign.
Thankfully, most Vermonters aren't that bigoted and isolated, and the signs soon died out, except for a few stubborn old farts who still believe that the act of hanging a sign will make everyone straight.
Hooray for Fox News, flag-bearer of America's ignorance. Don't be surprised if you start seeing "Take Back America" bumper stickers. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1next its "they are a plague on this earth, off to the fema camps"
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -4/+3They have a point, but it is not just so-called progressive bloggers. It is most bloggers.
