>I sympathise with many of the concerns of the Green lobby. But they need to refocus their priorities - this whole Global Warming stunt is trying to get people feeling guilty about something which is not happening and therefore receive budget grants to investigate solutions.
Huh. Yes, that's a sure way to make a million, applying for government grants. (/sarcasm)
>China has no environmental laws. At all. Zilch. Why isn't that a bigger concern than baseless speculation supported by flimsy, uncircumstantial evidence?
Flimsy? Nature magazine has already stated that this is not even questioned, it's accepted at this point that human caused CO2 is impacting the environment. That's Nature magazine. On the other hand, Scientific American agrees. For more in depth agreement, you could look at any climatology journal.
What kind of evidence do you want exactly? Because it's 99% for and 1% oil lobby funded against. Let me repeat: NO RESPECTED CLIMATOLOGIST IS SERIOUSLY QUESTIONING THAT THIS IS OCCURING. Okay, forget the facts, you don't want them. Let me try another tact: BUSH FINALLY ADMITTED THAT THIS WAS HAPPENING.
There, now I bet you believe it. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Very intelligent people often have difficulties socially.
- treelovinhippie, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Or I guess you could Google "global warming facts" and get the scientific evidence.
- rodrigo74, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4This kind of jerk-reactions, "get rid of my planes", "get rid of my cars", solves nothing. So he sells them, someone else buys them, and what?
It's much ore wise to actually have control of those planes, and then, being the Big Boss In Charge, invest in the reseach of solutions to minimize the environmental impact as much as possible. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Actually China has far more strict emissions standards than any US State and the "Global Warming Stunt" as you so eloquently put it is centered around the FACT that we have lost most of our glaciers and the FACT that for the first time in recorded history you can now sail a boat to the North Pole. Check your facts before you open your mouth eltower or you'll just come across like a moron.
- Chaos12, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Ya gore has always seemed nervous like that.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Dude! The ***** Arctic ice cap has literally melted away so much that you can now SAIL A BOAT to the North Pole! Look it up! ***** munter!
- dipdog21, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It is time we start excepting the fact human life will end if we don't start making changes! Thank you Branson.
- jellygraph, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2this is good, this is what we need to encourage ppl to do more to fix our problem
given that in the last week or so, there has been overwhelming proof of global warming released, from the warming of a region in the UK that has historically never had any such radical seasonal deviations ever, to the melting in the north pole that has opened passage to sail up to the pole during summer months, to new satellite photos of carbon senstivity - deesnutz, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Al Gore for President in 2008! Al has been kicking ass lately. Let's see when was the last time a Republican actually cared and did something about our environment? Hmmm. Right. Zilch. That's what Republicans amount to ... zilch.

"uncircumstantial evidence?"
Is that related to the "uncircumcised penis protruding from your forehead?"
You sir, are an idiot. - treelovinhippie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Cos Branson smokes the green :)
- oOLiquidNightOo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4great post thanks.
man, i just wish gore looked less stiff. branson looks like he's just "kicking it" and gore looks like he's ready to drop into a "3-pt stance". - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1 all the money he is using will be virgin air revenues.
- swankboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think I'm going to legally change my name to "Global Warming". He can write the checks out directly to me.
- uncleFester, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3so.. is branson going to divest himself of virgin air? think of the crap those planes are pumping out...
-r - Dash24, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Branson is a savvy investor, and this will be his most successful venture so far. The investment returns on renewable and green tech will be enormous, just look as far to what venture capitalists in silicon valley are saying, such as John Doer (who is probably the most successful VC in silicon valley). Branson's returns on this investment, along with the publicity, will hopefully jump start more green investing.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Gore has a bald spot !
- Kevin108, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1So first he invents the internet and now his publicity is coming from getting behind a theory that scientific data easily proves wrong. What a dumb ass!
Vote Libertarian kids! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Ah, so that explains what he has been doing in those balloons! World Record! Hah! He's been releasing greenhouse gasses the whole time. The conspiracy is revealed. I wonder if Virgin Air is also involved?
- leobaby, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1He's just feeling guilty because his airplanes and spaceplanes belch a ***** of CO2.
(One British ***** equals 1.6 American assloads) - eltower, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3A lot of these global warming pundits should read 'The Skeptic Environmentalist'. 40 years ago, the concern were nuclear weapons and the nuclear winter that was bound to ensue - but we didn't need any nukes because the environmentalists tried to convince us that a period of global cooling was coming anyway...
I sympathise with many of the concerns of the Green lobby. But they need to refocus their priorities - this whole Global Warming stunt is trying to get people feeling guilty about something which is not happening and therefore receive budget grants to investigate solutions.
China has no environmental laws. At all. Zilch. Why isn't that a bigger concern than baseless speculation supported by flimsy, uncircumstantial evidence? - eddigg, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2Global warming is the biggest pile of ***** ever. Google "Global Warming *****" to get the real truth
- KindraWilson, on 10/12/2007, -17/+3Thinkprogress.org is my favorite blog!
