- LadyDoor, on 05/29/2008, -1/+13So Sad. Ask our young to fight this war and then trivialize the damage done to them. This administration is certainly suffering from missing brain disorder. We ought to do all we can to help our vets.
- redcolumbine, on 05/29/2008, -1/+12The only support that the troops get from this administration is the bottom of a pine box.
- Pherdnut, on 05/29/2008, -1/+12We lost more veterans to suicide after Vietnam than actual soldiers lost during the 10 year war and these jerks still want to pretend PSTD is no big deal? At what point did it become a conservative instinct to pick the most wrong possible position and defend it with complete disregard for the facts. Did the VA get stacked with unqualified "Bushies" too?
- joeomar, on 05/29/2008, -1/+11As a proud American Veteran of the Vietnam Era and someone who worked for 30 years and now use the VA for healtcare, I challenge all Americans to visit your local VA Hospital, of course you may have to drive far, bus or train like I do. Go talk to the Vets, go see with your eyes and look around the area of hospitals and see the homeless veterans too.
Of course they want to down play PTSD, because John McCain suffers from it too. I have to get off subject now, I am voting for Barack Obama, he is our only hope, thank God his Grandpa was Veteran and his mother did a great job, by the way Obama is half white, but everyone calls him black. Shame on my country, shame on bush/cheney, peace - Macrophage, on 05/29/2008, -1/+7That SOB needs to have his as FIRED and then lets give him a Dose of PTSD!
PEACE
John HM2 USN/USCG 1978-1988 - inactive, on 05/30/2008, -0/+5To the previous poster "jentrax" who seems to be minimizing PTSD as a cop-out -- a soldier can have severe PTSD, with all it's symptoms of depression and outbursts of rage and the like, without wanting to compromise their army career. Some soldiers don't even want to tell a doctor on-base or off-base (it's still through TRICARE), as awful a time they're having with it, because they worry about it affecting their promotions. I know this personally.
- oldgal, on 05/29/2008, -0/+5Which is not allowed to be photographed or televised.
- The_Wallbanger, on 05/30/2008, -0/+3How can one attempt to minimize PTSD occurances in the face of new evidence explaining that military suicides are at new record highs?
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/7426875. ... - Jexie, on 05/30/2008, -0/+2"(disregard previous post)"
Not to worry, everyone on digg disregards ALL of your posts. - rufusdog, on 05/30/2008, -0/+2If someone suffering from PTSD can marry into more money than god and become the Republican presidential candidate then SURELY PTSD is no big deal... right? I absolutely trust McCain's shaky trigger finger on the red-button and you should too! McCain is on record downplaying the significance of PTSD and clearly doesn't think that we should provide more funding to help veterans.
- oldgal, on 05/29/2008, -0/+2More likely missing heart disorder.
- apothekari, on 05/30/2008, -0/+1@jentrax or should I just call you Beppo?
"No one forced them to enlist.
Also, not giving into every whim of the little brats doesn't equal not supporting them."
?????!!!!!
What the ***** is wrong with you?
That's the most petty, despicable comment I've heard on digg in the whole of the time I've been here.
And I've read some really stupid ***** on here over the years.
You are so blinded by ideology you can't comprehend ANYTHING outside of your own tiny microcosm.
So having a best friend get blown up next to you and put in a pressure cooker of stress for 2 to 3 tours all while your family disintegrates at home without you then you get back home and find you can't block out all the horror and carnage you've seen and some arrogant jerk like yourself calls you a "little brat"
You have the cold calculating soul of a Josef Mengele or worse. - Pherdnut, on 05/30/2008, -0/+1I'm the capital S social liberal son of Norwegian immigrants. I am about as against the Iraq war as they come. I'm pretty mild-mannered and pacifistic for the most part. So please take note when I say that if I could reach through the internet, grab you by the balls and shove a sharkskin-wrapped rod up your ass for the astonishing levels of douchebaggery you have exhibited here today, I would do precisely that.
- nblsavage, on 05/30/2008, -0/+1Support the troops! Unless it's inconvient to.
- schniff, on 05/31/2008, -0/+1Any suicide case resulting from lack of available treatment for soldiers suffering from PTSD should be viewed as recklessness; a wanton disregard for the known dangers of a particular situation. All politicians that voted against providing treatment should be charged with involuntary manslaughter because it satisfies the definition of THE ***** LAW!
The APA and the Pentagon both agree that this is a serious problem based on the research findings; but then again Washington has shown a pervasive pattern of completely ignoring science to the detriment of everyone; soldiers unfortunately are not immune. - oldgal, on 05/29/2008, -0/+1At least in Viet Nam we had a draft, otherwise we would probably still be fighting that one.
- inactive, on 05/31/2008, -1/+1Hell, I'VE got PTSD from living in this country under Bush for the last seven years...where's my benefits? These soldiers are complaining like a bunch of liberals. They knew how Uncle Sam treats his veterans when they signed up; if they didn't take 10 minutes to google "Vietnam Veterans benefits," well, tough titty.
I'm so sick of everyone hiding behind these soldiers..."support our troops." Give me a ***** break...you guys treat them like they're in the special olympics. They deal with death in the stifling desert heat; I think they can stand a little honest criticism. - inactive, on 05/30/2008, -1/+1Tell your mother to stab you to death, she made a mistake.
- Zippo, on 05/30/2008, -2/+2Two million songs on iTunes and counting? Hot damn!
