U.S. Troops Abroad Reject McCain, Donate More to Obama

thinkprogress.org — Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) has repeatedly claimed that he can speak for the interests of U.S. troops and best represent what they want. But a new analysis by Open Secrets finds that the U.S. military is increasingly rejecting McCain as its spokesman. Obama has received nearly six times as much money from soldiers deployed overseas.

    It seems the media wants to keep up the illusion that there is a tight race to make the news exciting.

    For a Brit this naturally brings to mind the election of 1945: Churchill, great warrior, was somewhat defeated in Britain proper, but then the Service Vote came in, carried by ship, plane, camel, donkey, fishing trawler, life-boat, and conscripted overseas pit-pony. Churchill went down by a landslide, because the troops were fed up with the codswallop.

    (Hitler should have been stopped before Alsace-Lorraine, but Churchill's social class supported him; Saddam fought the war against Iran with Donald Rumsfeld's and Richard Cheney's support, for Ronald Reagan's aims.)

    Same story.

    Bush lied, and Americans died. (Of course many many more Iraqis died, too.)

    McCain is the Second Coming of George Bush.
