- PaulMorel, on 08/14/2008, -29/+229This needs to be played up.
Iraqi politicians support Obama's plan. US troops support Obama's plan. McCain has no foreign policy credibility. - archiesteel, on 08/14/2008, -14/+208Why do the troops hate America?
- tehmarko, on 08/14/2008, -4/+172The troops need to support our troops!
- swears, on 08/14/2008, -13/+134Will take Ron Paul over either of them on any day.
- meltlight, on 08/14/2008, -17/+119Obama has more credibility on Iraq than McCain. Obama's withdrawal plan was essentially endorsed by the Iraqi Government and now, overwhelmingly, by American combat troops. Perhaps more shocking is that the troops are giving their money to Paul -- who has no chance of winning -- rather than McCain.
McCain needs to take ALL of the "facts on the ground" into consideration. - kingofinternet, on 08/14/2008, -10/+90clearly these soldiers and sailors want the terrorists to win
- langdonalger, on 08/14/2008, -13/+86this deserves to get a lot of attention.
- 1807, on 08/14/2008, -5/+60So THAT is where those Ron Paul fans from digg went!
- inactive, on 08/14/2008, -9/+47No shock here... Ron Paul is the only honest politician in America. Our soldiers are smart enough to figure that out. BTW it is very old news.
- jarjarwang, on 08/14/2008, -8/+43This is huge! Why isn't the Ron Paul campaign picking up on this?!!? I think I might make my own ad or something to get the message out. They say that Ron Paul isn't ready to lead, but the troops disagree in a big way!
- nblsavage, on 08/14/2008, -13/+47Wingnuts complaining that Opensecrets.org is biased in...3....2...1
- ZenMojo, on 08/14/2008, -5/+39Hell, Obama's plan is endorsed by the Secretary of Defense.
- xerigen, on 08/14/2008, -12/+45B..b..but McCain was on TV and told me that the troops love him and are willing to be in Iraq for another 100 years as long as they are victorious! Was he lying?! Couldn't be!
- darwinwins, on 08/15/2008, -0/+32i'm currently in baghdad and the most useless care package we received was a box of miniature flags. wtf are we going to use those for? hand out to the iraqis to show appreciation for their hearts and minds? haaaaaaa.
- RickHavoc, on 08/14/2008, -10/+41But can Obama lead? The troops say yes.
- inactive, on 08/14/2008, -4/+34Seriously. As much as I disagree with his stance on church/state, abortion, etc. At least he's in the ***** know and has a track record to prove it.
- Thinbev, on 08/14/2008, -7/+32From what I heard on the news, since the beginning of the Presidential campaigning, Ron Paul received more total military campaign contributions then Obama and McCain PUT TOGETHER!
I used to be an Obama supporter until I looked into Ron Paul and learned his freedom message. I now know that if we want to live in peace, in a free and prosperous nation, we need less government regulation and less government taxation.
For those that want to learn more visit: www.CampaignForLiberty.com - WhoRadley, on 08/14/2008, -1/+24There's still a Ron Paul campaign?
- Dustin00, on 08/14/2008, -7/+30COMING THIS NOVEMBER:
10s of 1000s of lost GI voter registrations and votes!
Nothing is as easy as disenfranchising those pesky oversea military members! - mattyx, on 08/14/2008, -0/+21Support our troops.
With a vote, not a stupid effing magnet. - LavaWarrior, on 08/14/2008, -10/+31No *****!
You think the troops want to be in Iraq for another 10 years? If McCain becomes president that's what will happen.
If you want all your Tax money spent on war, then vote McCain, otherwise, vote obama - inactive, on 08/14/2008, -3/+22It is very old news buried by the MSM over and over again. Ron Paul is the only honest man on this issue.
- anticom, on 08/14/2008, -12/+30The only reason Obama has gotten more than Paul is because he's out of the race. Anyone who thinks the troops would give one dime to Obama if he was in Pauls position is smoking something strong.
- Hetman, on 08/14/2008, -6/+24To bad Ron Paul is not still running. At least with him there would be some hope for a brighter future. But with the two main candidates wanting to increase government spending and claiming they will not raise taxes we are in trouble. Really the government only has two options tax or borrow. Borrowing is what has gotten us into the mess we are in now. And we really cannot afford to keep doing it.
- Revovisionary, on 08/14/2008, -4/+22I'm happy to say I'm one of those 134. Most everyone around me is pro-Obama. It's just the older guys that go for McCain. And still they feel that McCain is going to loose. Just about everyone is bitter about Bush.
- 1ncu3us, on 08/14/2008, -3/+20This two party system is really just ONE more choice than communist Russia.. what happened to the multi-partied system? Change? How about CHOICE!
- mantzdapantz, on 08/14/2008, -3/+20i bet they dont even fly American flags, those commies.
- Cybermaul, on 08/14/2008, -1/+17/sarcasm
There, fixed. :) - askantik, on 08/14/2008, -1/+17No, I'm sure they're still here... somewhere.
- inactive, on 08/14/2008, -4/+20@stagmire: You think it's funny to make fun of brain damaged troops? You're a sick *****.
- nblsavage, on 08/14/2008, -1/+17and you just admitted that only 26 soldiers give a ***** about McCain :)
- mijelh, on 08/14/2008, -2/+18LOL I wish I could digg you twice!!
- nblsavage, on 08/14/2008, -0/+16They list how they got the data. It's from a publicly accessible source. You could search here: http://www.opensecrets.org/pres08/search_donor.php or at FEC.gov.
- diggystardust, on 08/15/2008, -0/+16I'm a Ron Paul fan on digg, and will be in Iraq before the end of September.
I feel a warm welcome coming on . . . - Reynardine, on 08/14/2008, -0/+15Conversely, Obama also wants to donate more *to the troops* than McCain does. McCain essentially proposed gutting the GI bill, slashing the already slim post-military education benefits for soldiers:
http://armyofdude.blogspot.com/2008/05/truth-or-co ...
The Bush administration also favored the gutted bill. Sheds some light on who *really* cares for the soldiers, doesn't it? - bucfish, on 08/14/2008, -4/+19Yes The Campaign for Liberty. Check out their basic site it will be relaunched September 2nd in a new format. www.campaignforliberty.com Peace, Prosperity and Freedom are popular!!!
- inactive, on 08/14/2008, -18/+33As much as Digg.com has become a liberal spin-zone for the far left, I can buy that a good number of troops support Obama over McCain ... I've been over their over 24 months in the last 60 I've been in the Army.
A lot of guys have done 2, 3 and even 4 year-long tours ... the Army and my fellow Soldiers are getting worn out. BUT, we shouldn't leave until things are stable and secure enough. And trust me, it's a LOT better over there now than it was 2 years ago. I just wish the media and other far-left nuts would give the military, and my compatriots, credit for the hard work we've put into this war.
I say the numbers of 6-1 are a little high, but I can buy the article to a point. - Veni_Vidi_Vici, on 08/14/2008, -1/+15Agreed. I like Kucinich because he's pretty much paul, cept I like his stance on church/state,abortion,etc.
Shoulda been a Kucinich/Paul Ticket. - bucfish, on 08/14/2008, -5/+19www.campaignforliberty.com
- briansearles, on 08/14/2008, -5/+18If that's not telling I don't know what is.
- pintomp3, on 08/14/2008, -1/+14just because neo-cons keep repeating "the surge is working" doesn't make it true. it only met 3 out of 18 benchmarks set by the administration. they later declared 15 of them "satisfactory". the purpose of the surge was to provide breathing room for political reconciliation. that has not happened.
- LMN8R, on 08/14/2008, -6/+19Well obviously, the troops don't support the troops.
- supermanred, on 08/14/2008, -2/+15Bush knows the veterans hate the ***** out of McCain, he's already taken away the polling stations that would've been inside the Veterans hospitals...
So the guys will have to find a way to get their wheelchairs 5 blocks down the road to vote for Obama. - mattrmcg, on 08/14/2008, -4/+16I wonder how much the troops (or anyone else) would give to have new candidates...
- inactive, on 08/14/2008, -1/+13He's always received a lot of money from troops. He mentioned it in a debate (at the time it was more donations from active military personal than all the other republicans and democrat candidates combined).
- Quaterni0n, on 08/14/2008, -8/+20Maybe it's because they're educated?
There's a correlation between education and atheism. Maybe there's also a correlation between education and being anti-neocon. - defwheezer, on 08/14/2008, -5/+17Yeh, so hard (not) to understand since 80% or more of the US population is sick and tired (and going broke) after 8 yrs of McBush.
- noahgelman, on 08/14/2008, -5/+17Regardless of who your voting for, you're an ass
- FlatErff, on 08/14/2008, -7/+19You know you're a ***** sniper when you decide to vote for McCain.
- crowbar77, on 08/14/2008, -16/+28Obama's withdrawl plan is to keep 40-80 thousand troops long term just rebadge them as a counter terrorism unit. Not only that but hire even more military contractors.

Watch from 4:50
If you watch the debates he even mentions keeping troops in iraq long term, but as usually hes pretty vague on the subject. -
