US Lawyer: American Military Jails are 'Legal Black Holes'
rawstory.com — US human rights lawyers charged Sunday that US military prisons are "legal black holes" and the force is detaining journalists to "shut people up" about activities in Iraq and Afghanistan. A vast detention camp planned for the main US base in Afghanistan will be a "second Guantanamo" where laws do not apply, they said at a press conference.

- alapoet, on 07/21/2008, -3/+18Oh, great. Now they're planning ANOTHER concentration camp.
- Hellman109, on 07/21/2008, -6/+13They should name it Auschwitz and get some guy named schindler to make a list of enemies of the state and round them up and put them into this camp so they can concentrate on them.
PS: The USA is now the enemy. The US is now the terrorist state. You have become what you were trying to fight.- ventralnet, on 07/21/2008, -10/+3not really
- ByteGuerilla, on 07/21/2008, -1/+4YOU WERE THE CHOSEN ONE, AMERICA.
YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO BRING BALANCE TO THE WORLD, NOT LEAVE IT IN DARKNESS. - jabberwolf, on 07/21/2008, -1/+1Then why not leave America and see the world, not tourist traps or drunken student hostels... then come back and let us know what REAL terror is.
Sorry but you trying to get people to do nothing while the world burns around us, are just as responsible for the atrocities you let happen. Ironically like other Americans protesting WW2, wanting isolationism, and allowing concentration camps.
The USA has great power and with great power comes great responsibility. Should we leave it unchecked? NO. Should we berate it without doing any comparison to the rest of the world? If you are that naive, I guess you can.
There are instances in the world where countries like the USA and others have been heroes the world needed but not necessarily wanted at the time. But the world does not need people who do absolutely ***** nothing, yet are able to sit high and criticize everyone else. - CryRightardCry, on 07/21/2008, -1/+1@jabberwolf
You are so full of ***** your eyes are brown.
As a warmonger your cowardice is revolting.
Clamoring for war, then criticizing OTHER people for sitting on the couch?
You admit that with great power comes great responsibility.
So where is the responsibility? Hmm?
You then babble someting about "Should we leave it unchecked?". What are you talking about?
YOu bitch about other Americans allowing concentration camps? Don't you support Gitmo?
I'm looking at your other comments, and you certainly support the Iraq war.
Man, you are such a piece of ***** hypocrite it's not even funny.
You bitch how we NEED to do this in Iraq, but you are too ***** to enlist.
But THEN you bitch about Americans allowing concentration camps, and it sounds like YOU support them, as long as they have muslims in them.
You're ***** pathetic. - johndavidjack, on 07/21/2008, -0/+1@CryRightCry
Please tuck your e-penis back in between your legs. No one thinks you're tough.
- stephenv, on 07/21/2008, -1/+13Freedom Camps.
- GassyTurd, on 07/21/2008, -0/+8...and as some brilliant Digger said last night; "Torture is Freedom Tickling."
- jabberwolf, on 07/21/2008, -1/+1Nice how people us Holocaust and concentration camps when they are retardly so naive about what the difference is. But its a nice catch phrase and you get more stupid diggers agreeing with the term.
Would POW camp be better for you? Only difference is, these guys dont have a set military command yet have waged war off our shores. So how can we give back prisoners to someone, anyone, that really doesnt exist as a whole and has yet to declare peace?- CryRightardCry, on 07/21/2008, -1/+1Uh, GITMO, you *****.
How it is any different?
Boy, you sure go out of your way to pretend you are different from the people who do this stuff, while at the same time you cheer it on.
Are you unable to see it?
You CHEER for waging war on innocent Iraqis, and then turn around and bitch that someone let it happen to the Jews.
***** is too mild a term for someone as ignorant as you.
- CryRightardCry, on 07/21/2008, -1/+1Uh, GITMO, you *****.
- Hellman109, on 07/21/2008, -6/+13They should name it Auschwitz and get some guy named schindler to make a list of enemies of the state and round them up and put them into this camp so they can concentrate on them.
- DeskFlyer, on 07/21/2008, -4/+2Someone better inform the other black holes that they may be devouring stars illegally.
- coyote1284, on 07/21/2008, -1/+1And if they keep doing it we'll declare war on them, too.
- norman619, on 07/21/2008, -7/+7It's pretty stupid to expect military law to be like civilian law. They are not the same for obvious reasons.
- JoJoDilio, on 07/21/2008, -0/+3Not to mention that this article is making a big deal about nothing.
how can "the force is detaining journalists" be true if the facility isn't even under construction?
It's speculation and bad wording. Sensationalism. Feeding into the "military industrial complex" conspiracy. And please don't post links about how it's 'real'... I've already seen it all.
- JoJoDilio, on 07/21/2008, -0/+3Not to mention that this article is making a big deal about nothing.
- BaudiIROCZ, on 07/21/2008, -1/+14According to Dallas County Commissioner, "Black Hole" is a racist term.

- ByteGuerilla, on 07/21/2008, -0/+2k, 'African-American hole' it is then.
- TheInformer, on 07/21/2008, -3/+4So that means they're legally racist?
- Rotzooi, on 07/21/2008, -5/+5The United States of America, detaining journalists?!? WAKE THE ***** UP PEOPLE!
- Phaedryn, on 07/21/2008, -3/+3Yes, because we all know that being a journalist is mutually exclusive with being an enemy combatant, and by virtue of being a journalist they should automatically be given a free pass...
/rollseyes - JoJoDilio, on 07/21/2008, -1/+3READ THE ***** ARTICLE, nobody has been detained. relax kid. a human rights lawyer talking about what he thinks might happen, and a medium where the excuse of "poor choice of wording" lets you get away with sensationalism to make you more money. This is like FOX on the other end of the spectrum.
- Phaedryn, on 07/21/2008, -3/+3Yes, because we all know that being a journalist is mutually exclusive with being an enemy combatant, and by virtue of being a journalist they should automatically be given a free pass...

Y.A.B.A. D.A.B.A. D.O. All lawyers need a one way ticket to that blackhole - rthakidn, on 07/21/2008, -1/+3Detaining journalists!! OMG. The sky IS falling. Perhaps we can get a lawwyyeer or two to write some stories then lock them up too!! Amazing how the world is full of honest, innocent people, yet buildings come down, heads get cut off, fathers are made to watch their daughters raped, and the only "evil" entity out there is the US military. OMG the sky is falling. I know it's a stretch but perhaps this JOURNALIST was a propagandist/ enemy combatant. You know some teachers are rapists. Some cops are molesters. Having a honorable title does not make you honorable.
- Midtowner, on 07/21/2008, -1/+3Because this guy said it, it must be true.
- youthinkicare, on 07/21/2008, -2/+1THAT'S RACIST!
- jei731, on 07/22/2008, -1/+2Evil people have taken over USA and all the good people are doing nothing.
- SverigesKung, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1Just wait until the purges come.
