- inactive, on 04/06/2009, -7/+114Is anyone in our media actually awake? Not a single word all day long.
- inactive, on 04/06/2009, -6/+82So he was going to kill the President with a KNIFE?
I'd give him about a one in a billion chance of getting close enough to the POTUS to kill him with a knife.
I wouldn't say this is a very sophisticated operation! - inactive, on 04/07/2009, -0/+64Too busy checking out what the First Lady is wearing, and she put her arm around the Queen, you know- that's important *****!
- HAL90000, on 04/07/2009, -8/+57That is one smart turkey.
- Firstdaughter, on 04/06/2009, -6/+55Holy *****! I'm glad it was foiled but it makes me wonder what else we don't know...
- 17999, on 04/07/2009, -1/+43Remember those shoes everyone was laughing about?
- wikilowe, on 04/06/2009, -3/+39I have yet to hear about this from anywhere else. Why isn't this front page, breaking news everywhere?

ANKARA, Turkey - Turkish police detained a man after receiving a hoax tip that he was plotting to kill President Barack Obama but quickly released him without charge, a government official said Tuesday. - AgeofMastery, on 04/07/2009, -1/+33I was going to make an intelligent reply but I think it's more important that I ask you what you're wearing...
- NickLee808, on 04/07/2009, -1/+32I was looking for this comment.
- Echota, on 04/06/2009, -3/+33What sh*tty media weh have here in the US!
I'm glad the guy was caught before he had a chance to do anything! - lostlyrics, on 04/06/2009, -1/+30cbs brought a note too - all still quite diffuse
- Batfishy, on 04/07/2009, -0/+28Pretty much "too bad they caught the guy"
I don’t like that it’s deleted (by that I mean sunlight is a disinfectant). It’s something I don't like about Digg or reporting. Burying says enough for me. - StefanVincent, on 04/07/2009, -0/+27me too. I'd love to see an assassination attempt foiled by an actual turkey.
- inactive, on 04/07/2009, -0/+27Nothing but a smile!
- Batfishy, on 04/07/2009, -2/+24Teribssn - You're a real piece of work. I saw your picture at some freaky gun show buying some kind of stupid weapon wearing a cheeto-stained anti-Obama t-shirt with a swastika on it. That was you, right?
- AgeofMastery, on 04/07/2009, -0/+22CBS had it on their website an hour before the JPost did
http://news.google.com/news/story?q=Obama+%2B+assa ... - novenator, on 04/07/2009, -5/+25what you probably fail to realize thegrantman is that right wing extremists are the same in every country. The Taliban and Christian Evangelicals have more in common that you might like to admit.
Besides that, why are you spying on FreedomJoe? - AgeofMastery, on 04/07/2009, -1/+21I like a woman with good fashion sense :)
- youliveinfear, on 04/06/2009, -3/+22yet another kind and compassionate christian conservative?
- freedomjoe, on 04/07/2009, -3/+21I guess I have to tell you what this thread has to do with right wing extremists being sick, dangerous people, since you're too lazy to actually read the comments.
Now, go up the thread and see where you see the "Inactive" post? See after that where I wrote "reported"?
Now, since you're such a good little investigator, and you waste time following my shouts around (disturbing harassment) for no reason other than you were just hoping to find something you could pounce on and you thought you had it here! oh, boy. good times for the right. Yes, well -- since you're such a great investigator with nothing but free time, why don't you look at the times of the shout and the comment "reported". Add it up with the fact that the comment is deleted and the account is now inactive.
Now, if you take a long time to think about it, you just might figure it out.
Sorry you wasted your night chasing after a "guy" named Joe, hoping you could bag yourself a liberal. I guess that's the game tonight with the right, eh? notice that, friends? this isn't the only thread this is going on in. it seems you're all busy busy busy going through " liberals" (aka, anyone who doesn't buy into your paranoia and hate) history, just salivating at the thought that you might catch one of 'em slippin' up! Good luck!! (It won't change the election, though...)
- freedomjoe, on 04/07/2009, -3/+20Reported.
- itsradBrad, on 04/07/2009, -4/+21Did you know mullets are no longer in style?
- sarahlee, on 04/07/2009, -1/+16Also on CNN:
http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/04/06/turkey.assa ... - noahgelman, on 04/07/2009, -0/+15Backflip hatchet throws are much more effective
- wtrwlkr, on 04/07/2009, -3/+17No, you're thinking of Fox News
- novenator, on 04/07/2009, -6/+20maybe, maybe not. We all know how much fervor has been harnessed by the right wing here at home during the election and after, so this is more of a threat than it was for Bush. Unlike Bush however, who hid like a coward from ordinary people (even his campaign "rallies" were die-hard party loyalists only), Obama has been out in crowds of people and his rallies attract many thousands.
If another JFK situation develops, this country will freak the f-ck out and the neocons might just get their civil war. - inactive, on 04/07/2009, -1/+15Dang, missed it. What was the gist?
- lostlyrics, on 04/07/2009, -0/+14I too prefer my salad served ♀ without dressing
- freedomjoe, on 04/07/2009, -3/+16good question, novenator, and good answer as it is true. However, the reason I sent that shout was because of the comment left above where a right wing poster said he wished the attacker had been successful (hadn't been stopped before he had hurt the President, in response to the comment above the now deleted comment). Your point remains relevant, however, and we should all be vigilant.
- jtucker65, on 04/07/2009, -1/+13lol, you tell 'em Joe and Joe and Nov!!
- AgeofMastery, on 04/07/2009, -0/+12Lettuce alone, with no dressing
- freedomjoe, on 04/07/2009, -1/+13grant,
"I suspect Joe is trying to make the right in this country out to be the bogeyman because of the increase in gun sales.
Hard economic times lead to crime.Hence the weapons.
This country has serious problems and needs serious answers.
Not partisan *****."
Honey, I'm not trying to do anything. I provided stats re right wing extremists from the FBI which were deeply disturbing to me.
It's reality that the extremists in the right wing are the largest domestic terrorists in our country, and they tend to create problems when they are "out of power", such as Timothy McVey during the Clinton admin (right was pulling the same fear mongering then- red scares, the whole deal). the profile speaks for itself.
It's also a reality that a right winger left a message here wishing the attacker had done the job on the President.
and you call that partisan on my part - what a sad little attempt to deflect the truth.
Frankly, these death threats to the POTUS are the partisan attacks. the right lost and now, out of nothing but the sour grapes of angry, disenfranchised people, they can't seem to control themselves to acknowledge the democratic process.
Sorry you don't like it. I don't care for it either, but pretending it's not true isn't going to help.
If your attempt to paint the FBI report as "partisan" is supposed to discredit it, that argument has also lost all steam. It's predictable and the script of the right never deviates:
"Partisan attacks" now translate to "you busted us" and are usually followed by whining about "liberal media", when everyone who is living in the real world knows the media isn't liberal.
Frankly, I am more concerned about other people's safety and I could care less if you admit to the problem or not. I see you didn't apologize for the weirdness of your first post, which frankly was so bizarre that I think this is the last time I'll respond to you. I find it odd that you were going through my shouts for no reason and that you tried to make an issue out of something you were wrong about and now you don't acknowledge it at all. And lastly, I find it deeply disturbing that you didn't denounce what your fellow right winger said here, but instead, are acting as if the only crime committed here was the right wing comment getting called out. - FurtThePirate, on 04/07/2009, -4/+16I'm not going to lie.
dugg for the title. - freedomjoe, on 04/07/2009, -2/+13are you justifying the comment left here? Wow. you have problems. Stop following me around, dude.
- inactive, on 04/07/2009, -1/+12What's a FReeper??
(Just curious, not flaming.) - fatfreddyscat, on 04/07/2009, -1/+12Could have been an Onion headline.
- joeditto, on 04/07/2009, -4/+14@novenator....you're right, but you must realize your comment is too profound for wingnut mentality.
- Myonosken, on 04/07/2009, -3/+13I don't think 'wingnuts' have ever been confined to the US.
- smoger, on 04/07/2009, -1/+11[off topic] wow. autostart video ads? real classy, digg.
- greenfyre, on 04/07/2009, -3/+13Never been in prison caf? you can make a perfectly functional shank out of a lot of different things - including bread bags.
- GeographyJoe, on 04/07/2009, -0/+9Looks like FreedomJoe hit a nerve with TheGrantMan.
Somebody takes their Right Wing Extremist Group very seriously and is really upset that it called called out as the racist, hate-mongering domestic terrorism cell that it is.
TheGrantMan: If he won't stalk you, who will? - UnarmedHippo, on 04/07/2009, -0/+9I get a little uneasy every time i see obama giving a public speech.. there are so many whackjobs that want to see him dead.
- inactive, on 04/07/2009, -6/+15Reporters have to go through a metal detector before they get that close to the Pres.
Ever practice throwing knives? Its useless more then fifteen feet away. Trust me, a fellow with a knife is not going to hurt the Pres. - anstice85, on 04/07/2009, -3/+12freerepublic.com member
- Stoneman89, on 04/07/2009, -1/+9Its amazing what people are capable of... Its no doubt their will be more events like this, sadly.
- wtrwlkr, on 04/07/2009, -4/+12Fans of the ultra-right wing website Free Republic. They along with WorldNetDaily are the ones pushing the Obama birth certificate conspiracy theory.
- Firstdaughter, on 04/07/2009, -0/+7Norm it was a rhetorical question...
- sciencelovesyou, on 04/07/2009, -1/+8Yes, because no one ever tries to assassinate world leaders unless someone else mentions it first.
"Oh, what a boring day. Man, I think I'll just take a nap on the couch. Let me just turn off the TV first and... what's this? Someone tried to kill the President? Well now! THAT sounds like just the sorta kick in the pants this late afternoon needs!" -
