- inactive, on 10/06/2008, -4/+173I was JUST watching about this on MSNBC. Isn't it frustrating that while the Dow loses nearly 800 points, McCain's camp is admitting that focusing on the economy is a BAD IDEA for them? How the f*ck is that "country first"?
- tamaker, on 10/06/2008, -6/+142no *****, sherlock. just days left, bascially... get ready for some really rove-like, bad-ass campaign moves.... the McCain/Palin ticket is going to throw everything and see what sticks in a few days.
gotta give it to 'em-- they wrote the book on that *****. - niradg, on 10/06/2008, -6/+109I love how McCain's aides are always dumb enough to admit that they intend to hoodwink the American people. "This election is not about issues." We intend to change the subject from substance to *****.
- inactive, on 10/06/2008, -12/+106Hate to break it to ya, Grampy. No matter what you do, you lose.
- Icebird, on 10/06/2008, -5/+60Gotta love how many leaks there are in the McCain camp. They're like a leaky faucet of valuable strategic information.
- apastafarian, on 10/06/2008, -3/+48The cost of a campaign for the presidency of the United States of America -$500,000,000,00

Nice work John - MadN, on 10/07/2008, -1/+36Top McCain Aide: ‘If We Talk About The Economy, We'll Lose'

Basically: ‘If We Talk, We'll Lose' - inactive, on 10/06/2008, -16/+49I hope McCain puts country first, does us all a favor and jumps off a bridge.
- Jeepy, on 10/07/2008, -0/+31The problem with trying to go negative is there's nothing left that's even remotely true to hit Barack on. Hillary went so hard at Obama during the primaries that anything McCain can throw at him he's already survived. Clinton's camp made damn sure that if he survived the primaries he wasn't going down in November. Rove and his stooges already tried to outright lie when going negative and got called out on it, so the truth is there's not really anything of substance left to attack him on.
Also the debates tomorrow are going to be on the economy so at the moment McCain is somewhat struggling in a pit of quicksand. The more he tries to pull himself out of the trap the economic crisis has put him in the deeper he will sink. And if Obama gains even 4 more points after the debate it's pretty much over because of the amount of early voters casting their ballots mid October. - iguana99, on 10/07/2008, -2/+30I've never given money to a political cause before in my life.
But when one campaign avoids the critical issues for personal attacks, that's just too much to take at a time like this. I don't just want Obama to win anymore. I want a landslide. I want it to be clear that these jerks have had their chance and they blew it. Politics may be a game to people like Rove and his crew, but to most of us it's about our future.
Even though Obama will probably win anyway. Even though he already had my vote. I want the results of this election to be crystal clear.
Congrats, GOP "strategist"-flunkies. I just gave $100 to Obama's campaign. - inactive, on 10/06/2008, -2/+22If politicians put country first, we never would have had the bailout or a majority of the wars we've fought, in the first place.
- paintgrl, on 10/06/2008, -3/+22I was just thinking that.
- Ne007, on 10/07/2008, -4/+21Don't count him out yet. There are thousands of McCain signs here in the bible belt of Ohio.
Why do I live here again? - Aadain, on 10/07/2008, -0/+17Isn't that a bit extreme? I want him to lose and Obama to become President, but I don't actually wish physical harm on the old man. I want him to lose, and lose big time, so much so that he stands as an example of what not to do, but leave threats to his person alone. We're not barbarians after all.
- inactive, on 10/07/2008, -0/+17What I took from that statement is that if politicians put country first, our financial institutions would never have been permitted to go hog-wild throwing doomed mortgages around like confetti. Thus we would not have needed a bailout.
- shadus, on 10/06/2008, -2/+18I hope this puts a nail in the coffin of rove style politics. I'd like to see the day arise again when there is at least SOME substance to the election process.
- zedkitty, on 10/06/2008, -4/+18wish i could double digg for dumbfounded face pic.
- zbeast, on 10/07/2008, -0/+13Oh well I guess you can only say "I'm a Maverick" so many times.
- spaceman84, on 10/06/2008, -1/+13His reputation was built on lies and feeding a line of ***** to the media. The people who actually knew him well, his fellow soldiers and legislators in the Senate, know that his reputation was one of a belligerent, ignorant, corrupt *****.
- MadN, on 10/07/2008, -5/+17That is why they are attacking the Democratic voters themselves.
If you receive anything to "help" you register, do yourself a favor, shred it.
Remember to register yourself, in the correct voting district.
Remember, Democrats vote on the 4th of November; Republicans vote on the 5th of November..... - iguana99, on 10/07/2008, -0/+11Like I said, it's no longer about just winning (for which it's true, he probably doesn't need it). It's about sending a message, about winning by a wide margin.
Unless you're saying he doesn't need it to win by a landslide, in which case your vote of confidence is accepted. - GorfTron, on 10/07/2008, -0/+11McCain will lose because there is an economic crisis that he can't talk about.
- avataros, on 10/06/2008, -3/+14When the campaign leaks are prophecies of doom, they're already thinking of the next election.
- inactive, on 10/07/2008, -1/+12Loose lips sink...
won't get fooled again! - jlimon, on 10/07/2008, -2/+12All I can really say to that is, "Sadly..."
- cadmiumpaint, on 10/07/2008, -2/+12John McCain will do anything, including sell his soul to try and get into the white house. He's just a giant, pathetic embarrassment.
He's convincing undecided independents to go vote for Obama with all of his stupid Karl Rove style tactics. - jonbruc, on 10/07/2008, -0/+10Right, and if you don't talk about the economy people will just forget about it.
- Evanmontegarde, on 10/07/2008, -1/+10It's the economy, stupid!
- magus_melchior, on 10/07/2008, -0/+9I think the evangelicals in this country are long overdue for a good chastising by their God.
- magus_melchior, on 10/07/2008, -1/+10Thanks for sharing your thoughts, iguana99.
I was hoping that the Obama campaign would turn the "Bad News" video into a money bomb, but the last weeks of this campaign should be cause enough.
I think I'll give $400 this month. One $100 installment a week, each Friday. Who's with me? - JakeKreber, on 10/07/2008, -0/+9facepalm.jpg
- magus_melchior, on 10/07/2008, -0/+8@stubadub: Because McCain secured the nomination early, the networks were full of the clashes between Clinton and Obama. The independent vote didn't exactly have a choice unless they turned off the radio, TV, and shunned newspapers and Internet political news.
In a way, Clinton ended up being right on this point: She did try Obama by fire so that when the Republicans came after him, he already knew the right responses to dirty attacks. And she and Bill are stumping for Obama across the country.
Again, barring any attempts at cheating, McCain is looking at a lost campaign.
But don't let that stop us from pushing all the way to November 4. - LowRentDiggs, on 10/07/2008, -3/+11Don't give the Republican campaign machine too much credit, they've just read the book that has been written and rewritten since writing was invented. What sets them apart from most of our era is their total disregard for ethics and morality.
- gerwinnz, on 10/07/2008, -0/+8fair call, although i just finished reading the whole article. quite well written and goes into great depth of mccains past and military history. really shows how much of a sack of sh*t this guy is.

- inactive, on 10/07/2008, -1/+8There's only one way for McCain to win: Diebold.
- magus_melchior, on 10/07/2008, -0/+7"Many who live deserve death, but some who die deserve life. Can you give it to them, Frodo? Do not be so eager to deal out death and judgment."
- BotchaMcCoola, on 10/07/2008, -1/+8Minor correction. No matter what they talk about - they will lose!
- ligyron, on 10/07/2008, -1/+8Exactly what I was going to post. I pretty much lost all hope I had left for his campaign when he announced Sarah Palin as his running mate
I'm only following the election now for entertainment value. We all know who's going to win - deadbaby, on 10/07/2008, -2/+9Guys like McCain and Bush are so convinced they are saviors for America that they will justify any actions to win. It's that old arrogant smokey room mentality Republicans cling to.
- DougChristian, on 10/07/2008, -0/+7It's funny how he got away with it for so many years. Everyone called him honorable and generally liked him. Obama was even willing to grant him those things. And now he's gone and exposed himself as an unprincipled, dishonest, self-centered, crude, angry, little brat. Good job old man!
- inactive, on 10/06/2008, -6/+13I wouldn't even trust Rolling Stone for a music opinion, so I'm sure not trusting them for a political one.

that episode was so odd - bitsculptor, on 10/07/2008, -1/+8McCain is Bush 2.0... It's a trillion dollar big-budget action sequel with lots of explosions, intrigue, and deceit. It's a sequel we can't afford to finance after the flop that was Bush 1.0.
Try to change the topic all you like McCain... the topic of the economy is too important to ignore. Though your base may be moronic enough to take their eyes off the ball, the undecided voters out there seem to be catching on. - GorfTron, on 10/07/2008, -1/+8But don't forget that "fiscal conservatives" can handle the economy better, even when they have to avoid the issue.
