The entire concept of forcibly installing a democracy is ludicrous.
Anyways, Friedman is wrong. A poll conducted in Summer of 2006 found that 71% of Iraqis want the U.S. to withdraw within 6 months to 1 year. And can you blame them? Hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civilians have been killed, they're constantly humiliated with searches and raids, they're stuck with horrendous infrastructure, and must face the growing amounts of suicide bombers.
