A few examples of Americans who were denied health care:
Texas resident Shirley Lowe was denied health care because her breast cancer was diagnosed at a medical center rather than a clinic receiving federal cancer-research funds.
New Orleans bus driver Emanuel Wilson was denied health care when the government refused to pay for his chemotherapy because he had had a job that had provided insurance — a job he lost after Hurricane Katrina.
Thousands of 9/11 workers who worked at Ground Zero were denied health care when the federal government approved woefully inadequate funds to address the permanent health problems, such as sinusitis and asthma, associated with work at the site. - shawnfassett, on 11/12/2007, -1/+8DeLay is a drunken (see John Boehner) maniac.

- SheilaNoya, on 11/12/2007, -0/+6The average cost of healthcare insurance for a family of four is now over $12,000 per year. Many employers are also drastically cutting back on what they pay, and some are eliminating all health insurance benefits because of the high cost.
For retirees (like me) who have already retired but not yet old enough to qualify for Medicare, the insurance premiums are SKYROCKETING. During the last 6 years, I've seen my costs go from $117 per month to $522 per month. Many people in my position can no longer afford to pay these high rates.
To make matters worse, the Republicans changed the bankruptcy laws a few years ago. If you don't have enough medical coverage, just ONE major medical bill can force you to lose your home now. These are scary times for people who can't afford to pay the high insurance rates, or who do pay but still don't have enough coverage for a major medical expense.
We need some MAJOR changes in how we approach healthcare in the US. since it is becoming unaffordable for more and more people each year. Tom DeLay and his Republicans buddies seem to think that all you have to do is go to an emergency room once your health is in crisis mode. That's insane and you'll still get stuck with a HUGE medical bill that could wipe you out and make you homeless.
Sorry for ranting on and on about this, but healthcare issues are something us older folks are VERY worried about right now. If you ever plan on retiring someday, then YOU should be worried about it too. - ToastyMallows, on 11/12/2007, -0/+5HA! He should come and say that in America.
- VIrus9, on 11/12/2007, -0/+5Just because it doesn't happen in your neighborhood doesn't mean it doesn't happen, Tom.

- inactive, on 11/12/2007, -0/+1Ah, the GOP demonstrating their depth of knowledge and their willingness to be completely and utterly WRONG about how a nation feels.
Have you noticed it's only rich pricks and people who HAVE insurance who have the gall to argue that other people should NOT have healthcare?
It's amazing how the poor don't seem to agree with the Republican party. - HexeL, on 11/12/2007, -2/+2I wonder if we'll ever come about a solution to this problem? It's best we stopped trying.
- athomehealth, on 12/04/2008, -0/+0Universal health care would definitely help people out in my opinion
http://aagingbetter.com - quaxon, on 11/12/2007, -3/+1The founding fathers never had healthcare nor fancy hospitals/medical procedures and look at how they turned out, they wrote the constitution and ron paul supports that! If the founding fathers didnt have it and its not in the constitution who needs it? ***** 200 years of advancement! ron paul 2008
