Timeline Of Bush Admin's Politicization Of Terror, 2002-2008
huffingtonpost.com — Olbermann presents an impressively detailed timeline called "The Nexus of Politics and Terror," chronicling the Bush admin's exploitation of terror threats for political gain. "What we were told about terror, and not told, for security reasons, has overlapped considerably with what we were told about terror, and not told, for political reasons."

- LukasSmith, on 02/24/2008, -27/+2I was about to comment depends who you ask. Sounds like Bush is fighting terrorism to me. Wish his predecessors had bothered to do the same so 4,000 people didnt die on 911. All you liberals do is whine about how Bush is keeping you safe. How about some gratitude? Has there been another attack? Do you really think the idea that fanatics exist out there who would die sheerly to make Americans suffer is false? We already have proof they will. Liberals whine about how Bush hasn't captured Osama yet. Well Clinton didn't either during his presidency and thats when the capture would have done the most good. George Bush will be missed I believe. No Obamas or Clinton's can change the fact that our world is getting larger. Presidents don't just wave magic wands and make the economy better. No Obamas or Clinton's tell corporations to stop moving overseas because Americans are too expensive and there is cheap educated labor to be found on all corners of the globe. A cheap educated labor force that could soon in China or India take over Americas economic supremacy. The world order is changing get used to it.
- ThndrShk2k, on 02/24/2008, -2/+17It's not just the liberals that dislike bush, a lot of the conservatives don't like him either.
He's not keeping us safe with stretching our military to the brink of exhaustion.
Extremists attack us because they hate us for ***** with their society. There would be still some who hate us because we are more fortunate, but majority of the ones who are enlisted in their terroristic activities dislike us because of more local reasons (AKA What we are doing over there, when they don't want us over there)
Osama is either dead and we were never looking for him. A third unthinkable choice would be that our service personelle are too stupid to find him, and that is an unforgivable insult.
The economy is going down BECAUSE of Bush and his spending. If he was a true conservative we wouldn't be this much in debt.
So how about you fact check the real world for once? - bbardlbradd, on 02/24/2008, -2/+16What does America mean to you? What do you think a democracy is about? Do you even know who you are?
Bitch, you're an American. America is about personal liberty, or at least, the concept is based around humanitarian prosperity. What is best for the individual, because a government by the people to control the people must support something that we all believe in, ourselves and our right to freedom in conjunction with our sociological environments. So long as we do not step on each others feet, we can walk where we want to.
So, America is about personal liberty, America is about you. President Bush thinks so too, right? Big daddy wants to protect us from the boogie monster by making us sleep naked in his bed, where he can watch over us better. I don't think so. I don't want to give up my personal freedom to do as I please because there are bad people in the world. I am not a bad person, and I happen to live in a country that proclaims to be the pinnacle of humanities, and liberty. This government, in theory is structured to liberate good people, and to criminalize those who aren't, for the good people, but that's not how it works anymore. The U.S. government today is faithless, it doesn't see the good, it throws all of us under the same umbrella. We are all watched over, we are all subject to suspicious inspection.
***** that, I am not a bad person. I was not asked to live, I was not asked whether or not I wanted to be born in America. Life for me in uncomfortable and intrusive, so I understand other people well. No person was asked to be here. We all just happened, and now we all have to live with each other. I do my part as a moral agent and I expect others to do the same. No one steps on another person's feet. If we have to be here, lets try to make it as smooth and enjoyable as possible. No conflict, and my time is well spent. Most people will agree with me, that they aren't here to start *****, so who is the government looking for? What are they doing? What are they doing with our lives? They are stepping on my feet, on my friends and family. They are walking all over us.
There's not one person that I know of that w00ts for the Bush Admin because they are walking on America's feet. No one here, that has a mind, supports the war in Iraq, and the constant lies and the pure undeniable confusion that mainstream media and Bush Admin provide us with. America isn't the prison cell of the planet, there are TONS of good people, everywhere, and American culture is well underway to becoming a global export. We are finally developing an original culture, something that is truly American, but it's withering now. America is headed to be plagued by humanitarian blasphemy, so we should start backtracking now, while we still have a chance.
"The world order is changing get used to it." Yes it is, but do you see the rest of the world kiddo? The rest of the world is set to malfunction. Russia, China, Japan, look at them. These are the worlds superpowers we're talking about. Russia and China are both experiencing tremendous economical boosts from adopting (or adapting) capitalism to their way of things... But look at how their gov. is set up, where are it's focuses and who has the power? Here in America, so long as we believe in ourselves, WE have the power. ***** the government, it's only there because we want it there, remember? We need education, much higher education, for our next generation. We need them to be inspired to fight against our government and keep the people free.
BTW, sorry this is so long and probably hard to follow, and I have one more thing to say.
***** terrorism. - StarlessKnight, on 02/24/2008, -2/+7"Liberals whine about how Bush hasn't captured Osama yet. Well Clinton didn't either during his presidency and thats when the capture would have done the most good."
Whatever lets you sleep at night. Pre-9/11: Osama is a rouge agent and a threat. Post-9/11: Osama is the "mastermind" behind the 9/11 attacks that allowed America to enter into TWO "wars." Which of those makes Osama just a *little* more important, and failure to catch him just a *little* more noteworthy? Whose watch did Osama attack on? Whom said Osama must be caught? Whom later said Osama just isn't on their mind any more? Whom went to war with a second, UNRELATED nation rather than devote our full effort into finding this "mastermind?" Whom is the Commander in Chief responsible for all of this? George. W. Bush.
But, really, attacking dirty hippies and pretending Bush, and Bush alone, is keeping us safe... sure, why not? You'll just blame the evil liberals for the next attack, even if it was a direct result of what Bush did, or did not, do this time around. Seems to be a great plan, seeing how Clinton is to blame for it all and Bush is our savior.- LukasSmith, on 02/25/2008, -2/+1Clinton thought Osama should be captured or dead. Obviously you have 0 knowledge about the fighting already going on in afganistan during clintons years. Just google easy enough to find.
- chromerium, on 02/25/2008, -0/+3If bush had been doing his job, there wouldn't have been a 9/11. The official report stated that he repeatedly ignored the signals.
- bbardlbradd, on 02/25/2008, -0/+1Mmm...
Being president, back in those days didn't mean you had to fight Terrorism at any cost. There had been two serious bombings before he went into office. The first was in Oklahoma, and the second was the world trade center. Hearing about another one wouldn't concern me so much, if I had an entire nation to look over. I couldn't imagine being in Bush's position at the time... it must have been difficult, especially for an idiot like him.
It seems reasonable that he didn't act upon the warnings, because back then, it wasn't that big of a deal. He made a mistake, they /did/ attack and they killed over 3000 people with one attack, and really ***** up New York and scared the ***** out of the U.S. I remember, those were some really odd times (I was a Sophomore in H.S. though, a lot is odd then).
I'm just saying, you can't /blame/ Bush for not looking at these warnings as serious threats.
(Not a Bush sympathizer, just a rational person.)

Then again maybe it's just a coincidence. Maybe I'm just being paranoid. Maybe I should accept the explination I am given.
...and yet it moves.- TrevaLVF, on 02/24/2008, -4/+36A digg up for everything, except for the final three sentences.
I think, you know (or you ought to) that it is not just coincidence. You're not just being paranoid. By no means should you accept the explanation given, especially if it's given the questionable "official" stamp. Something is very wrong here and not enough are on our side for us to act as United States Americans to defend our country from domestic tyrants in power.- ggnictee, on 02/24/2008, -0/+2lol yes the last three sentences were inaccurate. google "and yet it moves". perhaps i was trying to be too clever for my own good. :)
- bbardlbradd, on 02/25/2008, -0/+1"Something is very wrong here"
I agree, it does /feel/ wrong. The good of it is though, that we have a lot of americans upset about this, this /wrong/. These people are relatively young and will replace the current active majority soon, and we will raise children... and our memes will be passed down and ingrained/integrated. We just need to make sure our next generation is well educated and well ready to challenge our future government.
Everyone knows we're due for a revolution sometime soon. Look at how people see America today... No one wants to hear about the American Dream, and then look out the window at the reality of living in an American Nightmare. We will have our time to stand and we will have our time to fight...but for now, let's identify the "Something" in "Something is very wrong here".

- LukasSmith, on 02/24/2008, -23/+2You people are crying because Bush is fighting terrorism. What a bunch of hippies you people are. Well let me tell you the hippies have already hung their bongs in their closet and work in massive corporations. The hippie peace and love idea is crap. This is the real world and in the real world terrorists want to kill Americans. Just ask 4,000 people who died on 911. I for one am glad Bush is keeping us safe.
- ThndrShk2k, on 02/24/2008, -4/+7I for one welcome our fascist overlords.
- chrisgnv, on 02/24/2008, -1/+14If Bush is fighting terrorism and keeping us safe then why were so many pre-9/11 whistleblowers ignored? It could have been prevented--we had the intel. If Bush is "keeping us safe" then why did 1300 people die in Katrina when it could have been minimalized had we handled the aftermath with more efficiency? If Bush is fighting terrorism and keeping us safe, then why have nearly 4000 American troops died and over 28,000 American troops have been wounded in Iraq fighting a war based on "false, innacurate, and deliberately misleading" information? And that's not to mention the 600,000+ overall death toll in Iraq, or does that not matter as that includes non-Americans? And if he's keeping us safe, then why are most of his "terorrism" alerts seemingly always based on incredible, outdated, or doubtful information?
- PeterODactyl, on 02/24/2008, -0/+6Hippies? What decade are YOU living in?
- vtbutterworth, on 02/24/2008, -2/+4America needs to realize that there are people out there to kill us. Plain fact. But we cannot change who we are because of them. America believes in truth, freedom of ideas, and honesty. Going to Iraq to kill a group of people who we have vehemently disagreed with and who did not attack us is not American. (By the way, did you know that we sold them weapons, even chemical weapons, while Iraq was at war with Iran? Also did you know that the reason Iraq went into Kuwait was because of the costs of the Iran war? Main cost: weapons.... hmm odd...) The only war that was credible after 9-11 was the war with the Taliban, and we screwed that one up by putting more resources into Iraq.
Truthfully, there are better ways to cope with a tragedy. Going to war is not one of them. Instead for 9-11, the best route would have been to put forth our resources towards restructuring the intelligence community that failed us due to its bureaucracy. - ggnictee, on 02/24/2008, -2/+4Personally I think the more American approach is to die free rather then live under Big Brother. But then again I just love this country. But I see you prefer a more USSR approach; "safety" over freedom. Which is fine. Just very unAmerican. If you hate the American way of life so much why not try China? I believe the phrase is "love it or leave it"
Or you could join us. It's great. You get to not be afraid. You get to laugh at death because you got to live. But if it's too much for you, if you really must be afraid of something; that's ok.
Just, don't hate me for my freedoms. - grinchdec23, on 02/25/2008, -0/+14000 people ?? Yet another fool who has no idea how many people died that day...
- mightydavefish, on 02/25/2008, -0/+4I wish you weren't such a chicken *****, because then you might enlist.
But sadly rightard cowards don't enlist, they just blather about how wonderful the war is and how President ***** is "keeping us safe".
If you really believed that you'd be a pathetic coward for not joining in.
- darkcthulhu, on 02/24/2008, -0/+2Most of the people you mentioned in your comment wouldn't believe it if they saw that video anyway. You know the ones I'm talking about.
- animal71, on 02/25/2008, -1/+3Thank the Lord Harry for Keith Olbermann. Bush and his cronies have a perp sheet of "evil deeds" stretching all the way back to the beginning of the current administration. If it weren't for the likes of Olberman, we'd lose sight of that in our daily struggle to keep up with the most recent crap they've dumped on their own country and the rest of the world.
- geegel, on 02/25/2008, -2/+2Wow, what a breakthrough!
Politicians use selectively events and in some cases fabricate them to promote their own interests. And they've only been doing this under the Bush administration.
I don't know how many of you remember the Clinton years, but a particularly bothersome story involves a girl named Monica, a press scandal and a thorough bombing of Sudan.
These are politics and both the dems and reps are playing by the same rules. I heartily recommend that you watch "Wag the Dog", which coincidentally involves Albania. Now US was the first country to recognize Kosovo just as Obama was all over the headlines and became a media darling.
Basic lesson. The public has the attention span of a 5 year old. Don't get pissed if MSM and politicians remember this and try instead to keep your eyes on the ball.

The masses are CFR/NWO media zombies, and unfortuneately, the masses make the change in a democratic government (which we are NOT supposed to be) This is exactly why they WANTED a democracy and NOT a Republic. The founders HATED the democracy. 51% telling 49% what to do is NOT freedom.
This is apparently TOO complicated for Americans to understand.- chicofaraby, on 02/24/2008, -3/+7"The founders HATED the democracy"
riiiiiiight....- chrissandvick, on 02/24/2008, -1/+7Hate isn't the right word but I don't think there was one who liked it. Especially democracy the way you use it. People who have doubts about this should ask if the way the word Democracy is being used by someone is inimical with a Constitutional Republic that has protection for individual rights, which is what the US really is. Progressives smuggled in Democracy into common usage at the turn of the last century. It was NOT used by the Founders the way it was used today. And today's usage is not an improvement. Democracy as Chico uses it would leave you with less freedom not more.

I agree with that statement, but then, if you think about it. A lot of people are idiots. Is the 51% the pack of idiots, or the 49%? It might just be that 100% are idiots and that why no one can get their ***** straight.
Marx believed that if you fought within the system, you wouldn't do anything but become part of the problem. He suggested you fight from the outside, but now that's considered "Terrorism" to most Americans. America is becoming a fat pussy, no one will do anything because of what people will think about them. Why don't we do something? When the government becomes heavy, you have to push hard to move it... What will our friends think? What will our family think? How will the world see us?

- MacSuxWindozSux, on 02/24/2008, -1/+3Your reply to my ambiguous statement is rather vague.
- floatingorb, on 02/24/2008, -0/+3Damn; That is a very ambiguous statement. Is that the point?
- swiftekho, on 02/24/2008, -2/+3Keith's words are amazing too... They just flow so well.
- Hazed2008, on 02/24/2008, -2/+4Olbermann reads from a teleprompter just like any other news anchor.
- floatingorb, on 02/25/2008, -0/+1Damn, I hadn't thought of that. "Intercourse the penguin!"
- DarkyHelmety, on 02/25/2008, -0/+1He probably has a good team of writers to word it up in a way that is unambiguous
- Hazed2008, on 02/24/2008, -2/+4Olbermann reads from a teleprompter just like any other news anchor.
- benbondu, on 02/25/2008, -2/+0Olberman's words don't do any good. By now, the only people who listen to him are already convinced of what he's saying. He's the left's version of Rush or BillO'; using incendiary language to rile up his side and simultaneously abandon the other.
- flip2trip, on 02/24/2008, -23/+4Olbermann is a tool
- smacksaw, on 02/24/2008, -4/+27Well that was all very truthful and concise, but let's not get the facts in the way of our being in perpetual fear.
- Dugout21, on 02/24/2008, -4/+2And let's hope it doesn't stop us from voting for another Republican.
- SeethisPass, on 02/24/2008, -4/+75The people you should fear the most are the people who promote, fear.
- chopenik, on 02/24/2008, -2/+27The very definition of terrorism.
- h4ckler, on 02/24/2008, -2/+18I'll add this to SeethisPass' comments. "Those who surrender a little liberty for a little security will forfeit both and gain neither."
- moletimer, on 02/24/2008, -0/+15'People should not fear their government, their government should fear the people'
- dacjames, on 02/24/2008, -0/+7Your comma is unnecessary, but your point is excellent.
- antiorblkflag9, on 02/24/2008, -0/+1It would be better with a semi colon or a period.
- chopenik, on 02/24/2008, -2/+27The very definition of terrorism.
- SeethisPass, on 02/24/2008, -5/+41In order to defeat terrorism it is only necessary to replace the leaders who are professional terrorists. Terrorism didn't exist until our country made it up in a think tank somewhere in the mid to late 1970's. Unless, that is, you believe that the middle east is in the drivers seat concerning our interventions there.
Some of those in countries that the U.S. has invaded and had previously bombed, try weakly to defend themselves in the absence of an actual fighting force, that's called terrorism and I for one am not afraid of it coming here unless it is organized by our own professional terrorist leadership. Follow the benefit and the money. Terrorism should be a registered U.S.Government trademark.- flip2trip, on 02/24/2008, -22/+4god you conspiracy theorists make me puke
- chrisgnv, on 02/24/2008, -1/+15You can't prove it either way, buddy, so you people who blindly accept everything spoon-fed to you from an administration that has repeatedly lied and lied again make me puke.
- floatingorb, on 02/24/2008, -1/+3They make me puke also. What person in their right mind would believe that some guys in caves 12,000 miles away with 9 day old mail and a leader on kidney dialysis pulled off 911? Holy cow (sorry hindus!); Now that is a conspiracy! What freakin' nutjob came up with that one?... oh wait:
http://digg.com/users/floatingorb/gallery/5194763
- pjpark, on 02/24/2008, -3/+1I've never heard Jimmy Carter referred to as a "think tank" before.
- hack184, on 02/25/2008, -3/+0oh wow that is so true except for the fact that Hitler and Stalin used it way back. oh yeah so did the French in 1848 during the French revolution. This is what I love about liberals their logic is so flawed it's funny.
- flip2trip, on 02/24/2008, -22/+4god you conspiracy theorists make me puke
- TheLastProphet, on 02/24/2008, -27/+2So do you fear the people that tell you about the people who promote fear?
- PhilMoskowitz, on 02/24/2008, -0/+2Weed often makes facile comments seem deep.
- i70CuDa, on 02/24/2008, -1/+2they silenced you
- Bossy, on 02/24/2008, -23/+7Thanks god Obama is in this race, he will turn these neocons upside down!
"Barack Obama, will require you to work. He is going to demand that you shed your cynicism. That you put down your division. That you come out of your isolation, that you move out of your comfort zone. That you push yourself to be better. And that you engage. Barack will never allow you to go back to your lives as usual, uninvolved and uninformed." -Michelle Obama
wOOt, go obama!- floatingorb, on 02/24/2008, -1/+3That CFR ***** is going to say get into the trains and go to the place where the sign says "work will make you free" just like the rest (exept RP)!
{in case anyone is wondering...I'm gonna pull the lever for him just so I can say "I told you so."}
- floatingorb, on 02/24/2008, -1/+3That CFR ***** is going to say get into the trains and go to the place where the sign says "work will make you free" just like the rest (exept RP)!
- jetcopter, on 02/24/2008, -14/+4Does Olbermann ever talk about the Clintons?
- RavagesOfTime, on 02/24/2008, -3/+4Every other network does. Why should he?
- gernblansted, on 02/24/2008, -3/+5Because the point of Bush supporters is to blindly defend him and point their fingers to the Clintons. If anyone wants to see negative news about the Clintons they need only tune in to FOX news, but that's not enough for Bush apologists. They've got to see anti Clinton statements in every frame of their lives lest they be forced to think honestly about the guy they hold up as the greatest hero and most beloved leader ever to walk the face of the earth.
- santaliqueur, on 02/24/2008, -20/+4Of course not. He's a raging liberal, and there's not much you can say about the Clintons that is positive.
- nycmac247, on 02/24/2008, -3/+12"raging liberal" lol are you even familiar with his thoughts on clinton - buried
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 02/24/2008, -2/+8Every time I've seen him mention Hilary Clinton, he's torn her apart.
You should stick to things you actually know about, instead of making ***** up.
- GhostyBoy, on 02/24/2008, -1/+11Yes he does. He called out Hillary Clinton on her Iraq vote.
- mrgreenjeans9, on 02/25/2008, -0/+2i love it...nail bushco on their shenanigans and comments turn to 'but but but, clinton....'
c'mon guys, get a new playbook. - jetcopter, on 02/26/2008, -0/+1Why does everyone think I am a Bush supporter for asking that? I am actually a Obama supporter that wishes Olbermann would show the truth on some of the junk Clinton has been saying.
- RavagesOfTime, on 02/24/2008, -3/+4Every other network does. Why should he?

- flip2trip, on 02/24/2008, -49/+5Keith Olbermann is a tool---the only thing he has in his life is bashing Bush--His show will be off the air soon--soon after Bush is gone---enjoy those unemployment checks you moron!!
- gernblansted, on 02/24/2008, -2/+14Is Olbermann's timeline a lie? Prove it - point out where he lies, because I pretty much remember everything he talked about, and I noticed at the time a number of terror alerts which always at least SEEMED to be timed to make America fear and stop thinking. Even Bush officials admit most of the alerts were if not bogus at least wrong. Now Bush says we will all die (more or less) if his Telco buddies don't get not only retroactive immunity, but immunity for all future crimes carried out against America, essentially putting them above American law in perpetuity.
Yah, we can trust AT&T. They NEVER overcharge me. - MacNyce, on 02/24/2008, -2/+10Hey flip2trip, what is your level of education? There are many people out there that think like you do and I was wondering if you considered yourself an educated person? Do you blindly follow others because you are told to or there are consequences if you don't. This is not an attack but an actual question. I'm a college dropout and have figured out that our president is a criminal. How come you have not? Where do we differ and how come?
- floatingorb, on 02/24/2008, -1/+1Oh? Is "king george II of america" going anywhere? Let us hope so (I'm kind of a pessimist though. DEF PESSIMIST: The optimist says, "The glass is half full." The pessimist says, "the glass is half full but I might have bowel cancer and I think bush set himself up as dictator."
- DesertBear, on 02/25/2008, -0/+0By the way, flip2trip said this "Just like most--take the time to read or to really listen to the man--and then if you understand what he is saying--disagree or agree--but stop bashing this guy because you all have some kind of radical ... opinion about anyone or anything that doesn't agree with what you think." Of course, he was defending O'Reilly at the time. Guess flip2trip really doesn't apply that to anyone who happens to disagree with him.
- gernblansted, on 02/24/2008, -2/+14Is Olbermann's timeline a lie? - amightywind, on 02/24/2008, -40/+8"Timeline Of Bush Admin's Politicization Of Terror, 2002-2008"
I would refer to it as a progress summary President Bush's successful war on terror.- an0nymous, on 02/24/2008, -3/+15amightywind indeed.
- nblsavage, on 02/24/2008, -3/+7he got his handle due to his unfortunate flatulence problem.
- ToastyMallows, on 02/24/2008, -4/+4/sarcasm
- enki25, on 02/24/2008, -4/+8That's because you're an idiot.
- nblsavage, on 02/24/2008, -3/+25So, did we actually manage to capture Bin Laden? No? Oh all we've manage to do is push draconian laws and give the terrorists an active recruitment base in Iraq? Define success. I don't think we can handle much more of it.
- amightywind, on 02/24/2008, -14/+4This rogues gallery suggests otherwise:
Khalid Sheik Mohammed (Al Qaida #3) - captured, facing death penalty
Abu Zubaydah (Al Qaida #4)- captured, facing death penaly
Abu Musab al-Zarqawi (Al Qaida Emir of Iraq)- blown up by a US Air Force bomb in his hut having tea
Imad Mughniyah (Hezbollah) - assassinated by our Israeli friends in Damascus
Iraq insurgency quelled by General Pettraeus' surge.
Iraq oil revenue sharing law passed.
It is heard to ignore these facts.- melat0nin, on 02/24/2008, -4/+9And how many innocents have died for these incredible achievements?
- an0nymous, on 02/24/2008, -4/+10yep everything is superawesome!
Iraquis have no running water or electricity, hundreds of thousands have been displaced or killed, the middle east has learned that democracy equals being killed by sectarian death squads, no moves toward political reconcilliation have been made, Americans rights have been abrogated, the rule of law has been devalued, and the balance of power between the triune branches of government have been permanently slanted in favor of the executive.
***** awesome job.
You should go live there. - lpse2000, on 02/25/2008, -2/+2SHUSH YOU NEOCON!!! It's not the facts and successes that count. It's the cruelties and negativeness, although tragic, effects of war so that Bush can be bashed. All despite the fact that EVERYONE, even democrats, were on board with the war before it began.
- enki25, on 02/26/2008, -2/+2Hey when the President is telling you he's certain a country poses an imminent threat, and that he's seen evidence that proves Iraq has WMD, it's pretty hard to avoid green lighting military action. Of course, all of those things were revealed as lies, but that doesn't matter because we're all "fighting for freedom", right?
- nblsavage, on 02/24/2008, -3/+7Not all that important considering the structure of Al-Queda. Capturing/killing #2, #4 or #25,000 doesn't matter. Someone else will just take his place, and it will be business as usual.
- grinchdec23, on 02/25/2008, -2/+2Yeah, im sure you have all the information about how they operate,, sarcasm.
- nblsavage, on 02/26/2008, -1/+2Terrorist orginalizations operate in cells, that's why it's hard to combat them, this isn't some dark secret.
- grinchdec23, on 02/25/2008, -2/+2Yeah, im sure you have all the information about how they operate,, sarcasm.
- floatingorb, on 02/24/2008, -1/+1I don't know about defining "success", but I can define the "terrorists" we are after: Al-Queda means "base." The Afghans use this "al-queda" as a euphemism for "toilet." Clearly, we are looking for a group called "The Toilet" or the CIA needs some better translators (why did they fire Sybil Edmonds?)???
- floatingorb, on 02/25/2008, -1/+2Addendum: It's an easy mistake to make; If the tables had been turned, and the ISS created a false flag event and had to blame it on Americans then they (after firing their top translator) may very well have looked at our history of slang, noticed that John Crapper invented the toilet, that cash (money) was everything to us, and then recognize that many Americans like Johnny Cash; So it naturally follows that the most likely terrorist group to demonize are the ones calling themselves "The Pay Toilet."
- amightywind, on 02/26/2008, -1/+2I can't imagine there are many takers for these jobs. They are a tad hazardous.
- amightywind, on 02/24/2008, -14/+4This rogues gallery suggests otherwise:
- texaswolfman, on 02/25/2008, -1/+7successful war on terror? you are a ***** idiot. terror is a TACTIC... a CRIME not a ***** CRISIS! get your head outta the sand and pay attention to the true nature of the world around you. i'll be damned if my kid gets drafted for this "successful war on terror."
- an0nymous, on 02/24/2008, -3/+15amightywind indeed.
- nigh7dagger, on 02/24/2008, -15/+3Yeah, because terror isn't political at all to start with. Horrible title.
- drmangrum, on 02/24/2008, -0/+4Did it take much practice to get that retarded? Terrorism is all about politics. You think they are blowing ***** up simply because they like to see a bright orange flame and hear a loud boom?
- ToastyMallows, on 02/24/2008, -4/+16Amazing, Keith is great.
- No1Dad, on 02/24/2008, -19/+3Olbermann, O'Reilly and the rest of the self-righteous blowhards who are helping to keep our country divided can get bent.
- toastgodsupreme, on 02/24/2008, -8/+1Damn, I came here looking for a youtube link of this.
- empirefalling, on 02/24/2008, -17/+11The crimes of the United States are vast. From the plot of 9/11 against the it’s own working class to the genocide of the Islamic population. The millions that have suffered under US military aggression , false accusations of “terrorism” and imprisonment based on religion, skin color, and country of origin scream in rage for justice. The US can not be released from these crimes against humanity. Bush can not continue unconstrained. This US presidency must be tried and punished for the millions they have murdered in the name of the United States of America. They must be put on trial for the severe permanent damage done to the American working class, the Iraqi and Afghanistan peoples, the Palestinian peoples, and a long register of other nations and cultures. Defeated, sullied, disregarded and shunned , the US is now in a severe state of decline. This is perilous. The US still possesses large quantities of Nuclear and Biological armaments. These must be secured from the Americans at all costs and destroyed. The Socialist Movement in the US is gaining exceptional acknowledgment. But much has still to be done. Healing the World Body even after the expurgating of the United States will take decades. A long road faces each and everyone of us.
- stealthrocket, on 02/24/2008, -0/+7I can only assume you are from a country that is not the United States. Let me assure you and all people from other countries that this is not the government that I and millions like me voted for or want. In fact I don't think this is the government man of the people who voted for Bush wanted either and are now, unfortunately late, waking up to the facts that many of us already knew. I ask the world to please bear with us, the USA, and give us an opportunity to make things right, which I believe we can and will do.
- rhinohelix, on 02/25/2008, -0/+3Please continue to genuflect at the altar of ignorance that is empirefalling's insane ramblings. Even for digg, this is a monument to ignorant propaganda. The road is long indeed, Comrade.
- drmangrum, on 02/24/2008, -2/+4The crimes of the United States are nothing, the crimes of BUSH&Co are vast. There is a distinction. Stop being melodramatic and try to see past your inane, foaming-at-the-mouth hatred to see the difference.
- adooga, on 02/24/2008, -3/+1One can only assume that you didn't actually read the whole of the comment you are replying to. You might want to get that knee of yours checked out.
- drmangrum, on 02/24/2008, -1/+3Actually I did, The OP makes no distinction between America and Bush. He seems to think the two are one and the same.
Take your sanctimonious quips elsewhere.- adooga, on 02/24/2008, -3/+1And yet you apparently didn't get as far as "Bush can not continue unconstrained. This US presidency must be tried and punished for the millions they have murdered in the name of the United States of America."
Sorry, by "read" I meant "comprehended". And more than the first couple of words. Maybe you're just not much of a reader? Maybe you were gonna finish reading it later? Maybe you had to go look some of the words up?
I don't know, maybe you're just thick as *****.

- GhostyBoy, on 02/24/2008, -1/+3He's right. Most Americans are good hard working people, but to let these guys off the hook is to set a dangerous precedent for America and the world. The America I hear about, the beacon of justice and freedom, would have put these crooks on trial and had them ***** lynched.
- Dugout21, on 02/24/2008, -1/+4Let me assure you that more than half of United States Citizens did not vote for Mr. Bush. I ask you to research the scandal over in Florida those years ago and learn for yourself just how this man stole the election. Hate the dictator not his people.
- Apokalyps2547, on 02/24/2008, -2/+2Also:
The Socialist movement is for people who have no idea how to manage money. The USSR sure did a bang-up job with their finances, eh?
And another thing:
9/11 wasn't a plot on the part of the White House. The whole concept is bunk. There's planty of legitimate greivances aganst Bush/Cheney/Kristol/PNAC, so there's no need to go making them up.- grinchdec23, on 02/25/2008, -0/+1Well,, almost noone knows how to manage money,, so that might help...the USSR is doing better than USA atm and they are still socialist... 9/11 clearly was at least helped in the whitehouse... clearly you are the one making things up.

- GhostyBoy, on 02/24/2008, -4/+12I remember when someone first suggested it to me. "Some people are saying there was bombs in the towers to make them fall like that." I was like "that's the stupidest ***** thing I've ever heard."
Then I saw the documentay 9/11: Press for Truth, and the 9/11 families are publicly asking for a new investigation and that there questions weren't answered. I wanted to find out why all the money was going to war and revenge if we hadn't satisfied the requests of the victims families.
I've done dozens of hours of research and fact-checking since then, and the official story is crap. It doesn't make any sense whatsoever.
Ask yourself if you have honestly sat down and taken the time to do some unbiased research on the matter? If you are curious or skeptical about 9/11 feel free to send me a shout and I will be glad to take the time to go through as much as I can without moving too much into the realm of speculation.

- Bhima, on 02/25/2008, -1/+2This is something that annoys me. Why is it, that saying "The official party line on 9/11 is problematic and incomplete" Automatically group you in with the "secret groups within the US government blew up a variety of buildings on 9/11 and flew a plane into them to 'cover it up'"?
- Apokalyps2547, on 02/25/2008, -0/+1Errors within the report is a far cry from "inside job"

- drmangrum, on 02/24/2008, -7/+3Digging you down. Yes, we've all read 1984. Yes, we all see the parallels. However, it doesn't have to be posted in EVERY SINGLE ***** BUSH THREAD.
- diothar, on 02/25/2008, -3/+0bravo drmangrum.
- Infidelcastr0, on 02/24/2008, -0/+3Why not? Comparisons of the bush administrations to 1984, Nazi Germany, etc are a completely valid analogy and anyone who can't see the obvious is an idiot.
- Bhima, on 02/25/2008, -0/+2Right, and in my opinion, the validity of such comparisons were unthinkable at the time Goodwin coined his famous observation. So now that they not only reasonable but they are accurate 'Goodwin's Law' is a lot less applicable than it was.
- thecatcantalk, on 02/24/2008, -0/+21984? More like "Brave New World", if you ask me. 1984 was a thinly-disguised mockery of Stalinist Russia (Martin Amis' "Koba the Dread" is great stuff, on that subject). And Hitler was careful to win over the German working class by mandating a national 30-hour work week, with annual paid vacations for every citizen...very different from the BushCo model. Nazi Germany had universal health care! Benito Mussolini, now, Mussolini and Bush are very much alike...except that Mussolini, like Hitler, bought the working class' goodwill with shorter work weeks, nationwide pay raises for all, etc.
Bush, on the other hand, ***** the working class up the ass, and they love him and cheer him on, with each new pay cut, each new anti-labor reversal of law. Every factory that closes, the hillbillies and cowboys can't stop praising the Republicans for giving their jobs away to Third World peasants on the other side of the world. It's a new and different rough Beast, that slouches toward Bethlehem to be born again.- floatingorb, on 02/25/2008, -0/+1DAN 7:7 After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast,
dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth:
it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it:
and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten
horns.
A "beast" which rises from the 'sea' (masses of people?) 'different' from all others before it? Some say the "beasts" represent types of government. Well, lets see then; History has seen the spectrum from anarchy to tyranny. What is left? What could be 'different'? A democratically elected (ha!) world dictator perhaps?

It shows how when the White House talks about "catching terrorists, and having rock hard evidence" in many cases they are full of *****. One such case involved finding a tourism video of 4 arab teenagers who visited Disney World, they were later caught and then there was a press conference talking about how they arrested 4 terrorists, despite the fact that they were later released as their was no evidence against them. The video shows how their dancing with Mickey Mouse, going on Splash Mountain, dancing in a goofy manner to theme park music, etc was interpreted as hidden terrorist messages by the DHS.
So when the government says , "today we have strong evidence" or "we unfoiled a terrorist plot" take it with a grain of salt, because they are just trying to make a case for themselves.- jackwk, on 02/24/2008, -0/+3the video was taken down

- citnaj, on 02/24/2008, -2/+0While I think Olberman is probably right on the money in insinuating that most of these convenient juxtapositions of terror alerts to bad political news for the Bush administration was more than a coincidence, I have to disagree with the Fort Dix event being anything but a coincidence (albeit, a convenient one). I was briefing the base general and the commanding officers at that time at McGuire AFB (same location as Fort Dix), and they had started talking about highly suspicious guys taking photographs of soldiers getting off buses, ec, a good two weeks before the news was broken. There was quite a big deal before it made the news, and the general was being very proactive about it-- he wasn't sitting on the news, by any stretch.
- GhostyBoy, on 02/24/2008, -1/+17Olbermann is the example of what a real reporters does. Exact quotes, videos and time-lines. - Railz, on 02/25/2008, -1/+1He is being unbias in this clip. Bush's ratings of 12% pretty much mean the entirety of the nation believe he is bad at this president business. There are times when Keith doesn't always act the unbias (when he generalizes republics, conservatives, etc.) but this particular video clip was the opposite of unbias. He went into everything in detail (find me a clip where Bill - pretty much the anti-Keith - has ever gone into so much detail on a particular subject) without just stating the pretty much damn obvious.

- Endemoniada, on 02/24/2008, -0/+17"The War on Terror" seems to be missing a few words. Try "The War on the Lack of Terror" for size. It fits!
Bush has done nothing but to promote more fear, more doubt and more uncertainty in American, and international, citizens. He has even gone so far as to inspire more "freedom fighters" to upgrade themselves to "terrorists", all in the name of cementing his power and influence.
War doesn't rid the world of terrorism, peace does. Get rid of the differences, and you get rid of the need to blow each other to bits. Go to war, and the one and only outcome will inevitably be an increase of terrorism and violence. I'm not naive, I know peace is a commodity in this world. That doesn't mean we shouldn't do everything in our power to pursue it.
Bush promotes terrorism, because without terrorism he is lost. Without terrorism, he would be seen as useless, something he has convinced a great part of the American people that he isn't. - Dugout21, on 02/24/2008, -0/+7We need people like Olbermann now more than ever.

- MyBacchanalia, on 02/24/2008, -2/+6I used to get upset about this. I used to think I could do something about this. However, it's all gone too far. The world is moving in a certain direction and something big, something perhaps catastrophic will happen soon enough. Peak oil. A rapidly changing climate and Earth. Nations forming massive unions. End of cheap food. Overpopulation. While the baby boomers retire and die we, the children born in the death of the Communist threat and now adults having grown up with the lies of the Terrorist threat, are already finding ourselves in a new world (brave new world?). *****'s going down. The government doesn't give a ***** about us. Be ready because things are about to get much worse.
- freedomschild, on 02/25/2008, -0/+5Desperation with this appalling stagnation among "we the people" has run its gamut in me as well. The same instinctive "something catastrophic" bubbles within -- seeming few with whom I can share these concerns and gnawing dread. I look at History (at least as much as has been recorded) and wonder what future generations will conclude about us. (If there is one-- perhaps a contingent of space-frontier settlers on Mars?) For me, the present playing out of "The Emperor's New Clothes" , the idle futility in attempting to draw attention to the growing confluence in all its depressing detail throughout the planet leaves me with the realization that we are going to get what our failure to attend to the responsibilities that come with the assumption of power, leave us with. We will not be the first to watch a great civilization fail in all its grand finery and military glory...along with a great opportunity for hope in peace and wellness for all the inhabitants on the globe; but we are going to be more and more informed daily of the consequences most seem to think they can escape. This is one planet in just one Universe -- Once more, humankind has not learned the lessons of the past. A past crashing into our present. Instead of gathering momentum among the greater powers, utilizing the masterful guidance and incredible manifestations of ingenuity (I just watched all the skill and effort of building a grandiose hotel for a Sultan in Dubai, defeating all logic in engineering knowledge to date---amazing what is possible where ingenuity is so sparked by big money. Apparently a hotel can be built on sand). Do people still think we can play our way through a very long recess? The truth is there is no "recess" when the possibilities of incredible warfare are being explored and continually invented. I've never felt that we as a species have come very far in our ability to live together peacefully (from the days of the so-called caveman). I see what is possible...if only; and I love America and for all this beautiful and bountiful Earth would give us, and my heart aches. Yet I will not become a "dump" for all the negativity gouging our times. I will continue to watch my nine year old grandson pitch a great baseball game, and encourage courage undiluted by lies.
- MyBacchanalia, on 02/25/2008, -0/+2I feel like such an ***** for my comment about the baby boomer generation... totally unfair of me, and not how I feel at all. I'm weirdly optimistic about everything...I know people are fundamentally good, that love exists and will eventually triumph. I know people of all ages feel betrayed about the few people that do bad things...but the Earth is beautiful and bountiful and....things will be get worse, but after... we'll be back on a right path. I have faith in humanity.

Worse, election time is coming up and their buying into a whole new back of lies to elect even more career politians. Bush will be gone, but the CIA will still exist, the FBI will still exist, the military will still exist, most of the fat old boys in Congress will still exist, and the prison industry and military industrial complex will still exist. It doesn't matter who you elect, because you're not going to elect any anarchists like you should, who will tear this crap down and dismantle this abomination. It will be business as usual, and either way, this country will be run into the ground. Only the default way, a huge chunk of the population is going to be hurt in some Depression era economic times.
