- ShadowJPD, on 06/13/2008, -17/+1234RIP Russert.
- jonnyboy88, on 06/13/2008, -2/+205It's a shame he won't be around to cover the election. I always enjoyed his analysis. RIP.
- emehrkay, on 06/13/2008, -1/+28Me too. I liked the dynamic between him and Matthews (who sought his approval).
- plimpton777, on 06/14/2008, -30/+7Hey guys, not for nothing, but Tim Russert was a media whore and was complicit in this whole war on terror facade. And he reamed Ron Paul for telling the truth about the war, yet let Bush and Cheney get off with passes. Russert sucked because he NEVER ASKED FOLLOW UP QUESTIONS. Yes, he would ask the tough question, but let them all get away with some stupid BS answer that a five-year-old could see through. He was NOT a serious journalist on the lines of I.F. Stone or Edward Murrow...far from it.
Digg me down, reply "too soon," whatever. If anything, I hope these other "infotainment" news achors keep dropping like flies. They're just as bad as the media-industrial complex they promote.

- soda0289, on 06/14/2008, -7/+22U sure u got to school?
- contact, on 06/14/2008, -7/+14You sure either of you went to school?
- Shadowtechnique, on 06/14/2008, -6/+4hey, contact, what's that sound? it's the sound of a joke flying over your head.
- Bananas21ca, on 06/14/2008, -3/+3Theres that sound again!
- emehrkay, on 06/13/2008, -1/+28Me too. I liked the dynamic between him and Matthews (who sought his approval).
- falstaff, on 06/13/2008, -2/+117Always thought of him as being pretty fair to all parties, despite his background. Definitely leaves a huge hole in political analysis.
- schneb, on 06/13/2008, -0/+42I agree, he was pretty even handed. He will be missed.
- organdonersteve, on 06/13/2008, -39/+4hardly, i mean its a bummer that the guy died and all, but his method of "asking questions" always seemed a little ***** to me. he would always use attack questions, that a lot of the time were fairly insignificant. an attack question is not the same as a tough question, he seemed to thing they were one in the same.
- goodechilde, on 06/13/2008, -0/+22He was extremely fair and I don't think there is anyone out there that I know of who will be able to fill his shoes on Meet the Press
- ArthurArchnix, on 06/13/2008, -17/+5You people need to google Tim Russert site:dailyhowler.com
I don't believe you should speak ill of the dead, but you shouldn't make sinners into saints either.
- ArthurArchnix, on 06/13/2008, -17/+5You people need to google Tim Russert site:dailyhowler.com
- NaziHatinChimp, on 06/14/2008, -0/+1A huge hole. As in, we NEED a replacement.

- GorgarFanClub, on 06/13/2008, -84/+6What did this guy do? I don't wake up that early to know.
- DrToddMD, on 06/13/2008, -15/+4Die in a fire.
- Jumpeplowski, on 06/14/2008, -2/+4Can't people ask a question without being dugg down?
- xstarsprinklesx, on 06/14/2008, -3/+4That's what Google is for.
- SAc0balt, on 06/13/2008, -59/+148And yet Bill O'Reilly lives on. What a shame.
- jcm267, on 06/13/2008, -62/+25Take your BS elsewhere.
- masterm1nd, on 06/13/2008, -41/+26Congrats on being the first douche to use his death for your political motivations. Hoping for O'Reilly's death doesn't really help your douche factor.
- Tomchei, on 06/13/2008, -13/+11He never hoped for Bill O'Reilly's demise. He was merely point out the fact that the loss of one of the last great journalists is a very empty hole that cannot be filled with todays current pool of reporters.
O'Reilly is not a journalist. He may have been in his early days at ABC but he is so far from that now, it is an insult to put O'Reilly in the same category as Russert. - masterm1nd, on 06/13/2008, -8/+14"And yet Bill O'Reilly lives on. What a shame."
I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that what he said means something else in a another language you used to interpret him.

I'm sure that the same people who dugg up that comment about O'Reilly will be quick to jump over and digg this comment about Olbermann.- neo1513, on 06/14/2008, -0/+1Thanks for bringing my attention to it, Olbermann rocks
RIP Russert
- neo1513, on 06/14/2008, -0/+1Thanks for bringing my attention to it, Olbermann rocks
- pintomp3, on 06/13/2008, -38/+2he won't be able to "DO IT LIVE" anymore..
too early?- seks03, on 06/13/2008, -3/+17no not really... because thats Bills thing not Tim's. Sorry man but FAIL
- LastVisibleDog, on 06/13/2008, -28/+34You are scum
Somebody dies and you use it as an excuse to spew some slim
Karma is going to be a bitch for you.- diggitydoc, on 06/13/2008, -18/+2go on and believe in your fairy tale...
look a bloated tumescent whale of a man died and now Karma is going to get him, OH NOES! - SAc0balt, on 06/13/2008, -6/+25Actually life is pretty nice and continues to be, and it's mostly because I don't surround myself with uptight emotional basket cases such as you and the rest of the of the diggers who go off their rocker the moment someone makes an observation that offends their sensitive little minds. My point is, I think you missed my point.
- LastVisibleDog, on 06/13/2008, -14/+3When you get out of junior high, you might understand what the adults are talking about (nit wit)
- NoStoppingUs, on 06/13/2008, -7/+5and yet diggers continue to digg him up...
*shocker* - LastVisibleDog, on 06/13/2008, -12/+2Well SAc0balt - mind if I call you ScumBag - didn't think so
See ScumBag, karma is a long term deal. It might be a little premature to be celebrating right now
If nothing else - you inability to understand context and appropriateness of behavior will pretty much guarantee your career will involve saying "Do you want fries with that"
Your point? You wished somebody was dead? Why? Because you don't like his show? He is an entertainer for gosh sakes! I guess because you hate free speech and you want somebody to kill all the people you don't like?
Here is a clue for you: our only hope is for each and everyone of us to love each other unconditionally. You are not even remotely close. - ceredron, on 06/14/2008, -0/+8Oh, SAc0balt is scum? I was under the impression that the target of his attack was the scum, not him. Do you disagree? Is it not a ***** SHAME that Russert, a relatively fair and alright reporter has been lost, while O'Reilly, the lowest of the low, stays alive to spew his garbage?
- SAc0balt, on 06/14/2008, -1/+8Sheesh. Look, let me once and for all put this Karma crap to rest. Let's first look at the facts:
Tim Russert: Dead
Bill O'Reilly: Living
Tim Russert: An upstanding, tough yet fair man
Bill O'Reilly: A neocon lapdog who played a great part in spreading the poisonous rhetoric that led many of the confused and angry masses in the wrong direction.
And how exactly is it that you expect me to believe in this Karma thing which supposedly results in rewards for those who perform good deeds, and deals out punishment to those who are bad, when Tim Russert is dead and O'Reilly isn't? - b-dizzle, on 06/14/2008, -0/+3He's not saying that Bill O'Reilly should die, he's saying it's a shame that we lost an honest, professional journalist in a world where sensationalist pundits like Bill O'Reilly still dominate the airwaves.
- PhilLesh69, on 06/14/2008, -1/+3SAc0balt,
The people who are offended by your comments obviously love Bill O'Reilly, so any negative remark against him makes them feel uncomfortable, and they must lash out against that person because they have such a tenuous hold on their fragile belief system.
- diggitydoc, on 06/13/2008, -18/+2go on and believe in your fairy tale...
- Brownds, on 06/13/2008, -15/+5@SAc0balt
Wow you are dugg up for being a complete ass bag. I don't care for Bill O'Reilly but I would not wish him dead over someone else who did die. The fact you got dugg up just tells me how many political dick vacuums are on Digg. It amazes me that they can find an excuse to post political garbage at just about any topic. Congrats guys your almost as classy as a ***** stain in a gas station bathroom. - xtraa, on 06/13/2008, -4/+22Assholes live longer, that's a fact.
- synystar, on 06/13/2008, -3/+7"But the only thing that can ***** an ***** is a dick, with some balls[...]I don't know much about this crazy, crazy world, but I do know this: If you don't let us ***** this *****, we're going to have our dicks and pussies all covered in *****."
- FUR10N, on 06/14/2008, -3/+5yup, just look at Heath Ledger and Britney Spears
- davewho, on 06/14/2008, -2/+2Goons don't like you

- Crosshare, on 06/13/2008, -2/+35I think everyone should raise their glass and give Tim one last "Go Bills!"
- ButterBuddha, on 06/13/2008, -1/+5And Go Sabres!!!! Seriously, it was nice to see that he was so proud of his hometown
it sucks to lose a homie from South Buffalo...RIP - AvidPreatorian, on 06/13/2008, -4/+2or just give him some thought and memory, something not as cliche..
- MacEnvy, on 06/14/2008, -0/+4He really did love the Bills though - it's not as trite as it may seem. He also loved the Yankees and Nationals, and was a sitting member of the Baseball Hall of Fame Board of Directors.
We'll miss you, Mr. Russert. You are irreplaceable in the pantheon of modern political analysis, and the country is lessened by your passing.
- MacEnvy, on 06/14/2008, -0/+4He really did love the Bills though - it's not as trite as it may seem. He also loved the Yankees and Nationals, and was a sitting member of the Baseball Hall of Fame Board of Directors.

- phorty40, on 06/13/2008, -46/+5Ongoing CIA leak scandal
Scooter Libby, chief of staff for Vice President Dick Cheney, told special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald that Russert was the first to tell him of the identity of Central Intelligence Agency officer Valerie Plame (Mrs. Joseph C. Wilson). Russert testified previously and again in United States v. I. Lewis Libby that he did not tell Libby of Mrs. Wilson's CIA identity.[citations needed]
Russert testified again in the trial on Wednesday, February 7, 2007.
During the trial, another witness, former Cheney communications director Cathie Martin, testified that she "suggested we put the vice president on 'Meet the Press,'" hosted by Russert on NBC, and that it was "a tactic we often used....It's our best format."[8]
Could this “Heart Attack” be part of damage control, and prevention of possible post election charges of treason chargesto be potentally brought against d. cheaney?- LastVisibleDog, on 06/13/2008, -7/+11Could you be an idiot????
- phorty40, on 06/13/2008, -10/+0idiots dont question anything. its just a scenario , is it that highly improbable?
dug down for not having intelligence - synystar, on 06/14/2008, -2/+2Yes it is highly improbable. Why aren't journalists and prominent bloggers dying every day by your logic?
- phorty40, on 06/13/2008, -10/+0idiots dont question anything. its just a scenario , is it that highly improbable?

- MalenfantX, on 06/13/2008, -0/+1or maybe he was overweight and didn't get enough exercise. Which could it be?
RIP Tim. Sunday morning won't be the same without you. - PhilLesh69, on 06/14/2008, -0/+1I doubt it.
I'm never one to dismiss the likelihood that factions and ideological groups will not stoop to any level in order to protect themselves or further their agenda, but I just don't see any probability that this was anything more than a guy dropping dead suddenly.
Maybe I'm wrong. But I just don't see anything that would indicate that it was anything other than a freak heart affliction that took his life.
- LastVisibleDog, on 06/13/2008, -7/+11Could you be an idiot????
- bysin, on 06/13/2008, -33/+4Was it... MURDER?
- eggballs, on 06/13/2008, -1/+5OMG there is so much PROOF!
- PrismoFillusion, on 06/13/2008, -0/+53Did anyone else catch Andrea Mitchell holding back tears on MSNBC?
Heartbreaking...- bysin, on 06/13/2008, -0/+26Yeah she was saying the other 2 people who called her "Mitch" was her father, and Tim Russert.
At which point she broke out in tears. - JekJob, on 06/13/2008, -0/+26Yeah.. I'm watching now and even Keith Olbermann and Chuck Todd are holding them back.
- iJessicaRabbit, on 06/14/2008, -0/+5I've never seen Russert's show(s) or heard of him before now, but that comment gave me goosebumps :( It's extremely heartbreaking watching someone try to be strong when they're devastated inside.
It sounds like Russert really had a very large and positive impact on a HUGE amount of people and the media in general. After reading about all the negative crap on TV (Fox mainly) it deeply saddens me when the positive people go :( RIP Tim- Cglass, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1It's sad because to me he was one of the last truly good guys you could watch on network television. He seemed to have an incredible knack for getting at the truth of some very important and controversial issues, without offending people. I for one will miss him =(
- NYankee2003, on 06/14/2008, -0/+3... and Olbermann, and Larry King, and Judy Woodruff. Even Hannity and Newt found their hearts for a little while there.
- bysin, on 06/13/2008, -0/+26Yeah she was saying the other 2 people who called her "Mitch" was her father, and Tim Russert.
- shondell, on 06/13/2008, -0/+54It's so strange how we take for granted the lives of people. We always just expect some people to be there everyday for us, but when they pass away, it's always shocking and unexpected. Like when Steve Irwin passed, for some reason I was feeling really depressed about it although I never really watched much of his programs or anything else he does. But after his death, I felt like I needed to find out everything I could about his life. I know it's hard to appreciate people when they are alive but with death, we should all have a feeling of appreciation of our own lives.
- phorty40, on 06/13/2008, -2/+14nothing against irwin but nothing shocked me as much as this.
ive been watching him daily since october with the elction coverage.
this is truely crazy. - kaplanfx, on 06/13/2008, -0/+11Steve was a fun guy, full of life. I think Mr. Russerts death is so shocking because he was young and it was so sudden. He will be missed.
- tyboulder, on 06/14/2008, -0/+3I agree with you that something like this can really make you want to look back and get a better grasp on why a certain person was so great. I respected Tim Russert before his death, but now I want to know more about him and his legacy. CharlieRose.com is often a good place to start with candid interviews of important figures. I have no affiliation with the show, but it does offer a deeper look at issues and personalities than what the pop-news networks parade around at night.
- PhilLesh69, on 06/14/2008, -2/+2I don't know about Irwin. I remember back in like 1996, maybe 1997, when I first saw Steve on animal planet, and showed some friends what he does. I said to them, "This guy is crazy! I wouldn't be surprised if he kills himself doing this show. He's nuts, he'll run right up to a venomous snake, or walk right into a pool filled with alligators." I think the show I played for friends was the one where he was mowing the lawn around his gator pools, and some of the gators kept charging out of the water at him and his lawnmower.
With Tim Russert, I think the last thing I thought was that he was bound to drop dead some day soon. I definitely thought he was a living caricature, because of his large head, but I never thought he was unhealthy, or taking unnecessary risks, or had any idea that he could just drop dead.
Irwin was not a shock. Russert was definitely a shock.
- phorty40, on 06/13/2008, -2/+14nothing against irwin but nothing shocked me as much as this.
- JettaMan, on 06/13/2008, -23/+2He was a tough interviewer. He was on the campaign team for two Democrats before taking over Meet the Press in 1991, so it's no surprise all his questions were running the welfare state up and down the flagpole. Sort of a left-wing Bill O'Reilly.
- mille716, on 06/13/2008, -2/+13You ***** *****. You've clearly never watched the show. He was tough on EVERYBODY, that's why the show was so popular among followers of both parties. ***** you again.
- phike, on 06/13/2008, -1/+14I can see Keith Olbermann being compared as a left-wing Bill O'Reilly, but Tim Russert? Stop getting sole-source propoganda from Fox News and learn to receive your information from multiple sources -- Tim Russert was one of the fairest political pundits out there. He will be missed by anyone who knows that there is some good and evil in both the left and the right.
- JettaMan, on 06/14/2008, -2/+1Nope, I don't watch Fox News. Just noticed it myself watching his interviews. His questions can be boiled down to "why aren't you more Socialist?"
- CalamariAce, on 06/13/2008, -0/+41One of the few who actually deserved to be called a journalist. A sad and terrible loss.

I'm going to hell for this, but someone has to say it...
Vid or it didn't happen.- aliengoods, on 06/13/2008, -0/+9Yes, you are going to hell.
Also, what kind of moron do you have to be to think you need video to record a voice over?- AnOMNOMymous, on 06/14/2008, -0/+0A trolling moron.
- diggmaddy, on 06/13/2008, -0/+5Every meme has it's place, dude! You did it wrong, in a wrong place, at the wrong time.
Anyway, if there was a video, do you really derive pleasure from watching somebody take his last breaths? Esp. somebody this nice?- AnOMNOMymous, on 06/13/2008, -8/+1Yes.
- aliengoods, on 06/13/2008, -0/+9Yes, you are going to hell.
- donsnyc, on 06/13/2008, -0/+18My sundays will never be the same. :-(
- OffPiste, on 06/13/2008, -10/+1Sad and all, but after this guy was a guest on Rush Limbaugh's show, I completely lost all respect for him.
- bradbaxter, on 06/13/2008, -1/+5I doubt that your respect matters much, anyway.
- iJessicaRabbit, on 06/14/2008, -0/+3WHY did you loose respect for him? Just Being on a show wouldn't justify loosing or gaining respect for someone.
- ZeeZee2k, on 06/13/2008, -0/+5This is very shocking, rip Tim Russert
- Herb1969, on 06/14/2008, -0/+1I suspect the long plane trip back from Italy had cause a leg clot, that lodge loose towards his heart. He will be difficult to replace, RIP.
- Herb1969, on 06/15/2008, -0/+0His doctor says it wasn't pulmonary embolism because he had a different heart condition.
- Ethanael, on 06/14/2008, -0/+4I've watched this man since I started following politics back in 2001. I can't believe it. I don't want to... I was really looking forward to watching him tackle Obama and McCain. :(
I reach out to his family to say he will be missed by a lot of people. And I know he'll be watching this ground breaking election process. - blackeagle613, on 06/14/2008, -0/+3and this Sunday is Father's Day too....
So sad.... my Sunday's will never be the same :(
R.I.P - lawstud, on 06/14/2008, -1/+1isn't anyone going to mention his involvement in testifying against some Bush henchmen like Libby's perjury trial???
what happened to the madam who gave Dick Cheney some massages and was found with a suicide note.... - reb42, on 06/14/2008, -0/+3Meet the Press is the only show I have never missed since I began watching... I've never really been particularly affected by the death of a public figure, but somehow this feels like it hits awfully close to home.
- chrissku, on 06/14/2008, -0/+1This is one of the few threads that I'll not joke or make a sarcastic comment towards.
Truly, this man was a great political analyst and was one of the first to call Obama's victory before the other news journalists who wanted to be safe until two Tuesdays' ago. I was completely surprised by this and I know I'll keep in mind his disappearance when I remind myself to see Russert's latest analysis on politics.
R.I.P., Tim Russert.
- jonnyboy88, on 06/13/2008, -2/+205It's a shame he won't be around to cover the election. I always enjoyed his analysis. RIP.
- darthzaphod, on 06/13/2008, -19/+248How does Matt Drudge get this stuff so early? CNN, MSNBC, Fox News...nobody else has it up yet.
- LLamaStar, on 06/13/2008, -12/+5NYpost nailed it actually
- Maratanos, on 06/13/2008, -2/+4And most likely, one of the first people to read it there decided to send it in to Drudge on his tip line.
- Drewboy64, on 06/13/2008, -0/+1How the hell does NY post nail it when Tim works for MSNBC?
Besides that, I'm going to miss Tim Russert. He showed incredible enthusiasm for what he did. Always looked forward to see him during the election season.
RIP
- Drewboy64, on 06/13/2008, -0/+1How the hell does NY post nail it when Tim works for MSNBC?

- darthzaphod, on 06/13/2008, -2/+6True, and Drudge really only ever posts news stories that someone else has already put up, but still, where are all the other news sources on this? It's not even on TV yet.
- amoirae, on 06/13/2008, -2/+12So, Drudge is MrBabyMan?
- amoirae, on 06/13/2008, -0/+6Then MrBabyMan is Perez Hilton?

- inboxnews, on 06/13/2008, -4/+98"How does Matt Drudge get this stuff so early? CNN, MSNBC, Fox News...nobody else has it up yet."
Which is exactly why his site is so popular.- rald84, on 06/13/2008, -1/+35you'd think MSNBC would beat him to it since thats where it happened.
- Lukesed, on 06/13/2008, -2/+8Matt was probably on the phone with him at the time.
- ShellShock11, on 06/13/2008, -0/+45MSNBC wasn't in a rush to get the news out. They wanted to plan a respectful broadcast and get all of the right people in there to talk about him. Matt Drudge simply needs to tell people that it happened.
- Cofta, on 06/13/2008, -0/+28They let other sources scoop it before them because they wanted to be classy and contact his family and express their condolences before making it public.
- sims1033, on 06/13/2008, -0/+34The network waited until his family was notified.
- OffPiste, on 06/13/2008, -2/+3I'm sure they were in full panic mode.
- givemereplay, on 06/14/2008, -4/+1His site is popular because he posts things early. This of course ignores the fact that for every true story he posts 99 false ones. I'm shocked that anyone gives Drudge any respect at all.

- LastVisibleDog, on 06/13/2008, -3/+19This is what makes the Drudge Report special - that is what he does. Drudge just posts links to stories and reports on leaks from news organizations (up coming stories) - he is an insider that has lots of contacts. Drudge is not a news organization nor is Drudge a reporter - he disseminates information - take it for what it is (and for the most part it is just links to other news sources).
- 0ceanic, on 06/13/2008, -8/+57everyone knew, but waited to report it until his family was notified.
drudge didnt care.- cbartlett, on 06/13/2008, -10/+8That's what makes him so good. Or horrible. You decide.
- sovereign3, on 06/13/2008, -3/+34My vote is for horrible.
- pwrx, on 06/13/2008, -1/+5My question: Are the Digg users unscrupulous for digging this before the other mainstream media sites reported it? After all, Digg is a site that links to other sites holding the content; pretty much the definition of DrudgeReport.
Shall you proceed to slam fellow Diggers that race to submit articles first?
- Rotzooi, on 06/13/2008, -12/+21Other news sources had it, but Drudge didn't care.

- Shirleycakes, on 06/13/2008, -1/+3Drudge was late coming to the party - Brokaw announced it live on MSBC the moment he found out. A good ten minutes after that is when I saw it on the post.
- darthzaphod, on 06/13/2008, -0/+3actually, I saw it on Drudge ten minutes before MSNBC announced it--the moment I saw it on Drudge I turned on MSNBC, and nothing had come up yet. I watched until they did the live special report.
I agree that they probably waited until his family could be contacted--Drudge doesn't bother worrying about stuff like that. Take a look at the fact that he broke the story about Prince Harry being in Afghanistan, even though every single British news outlet promised to keep the story under wraps. After that, I stopped being a fan of Drudge.

Amazing that no offense is taking by "RIP"
Either you are ignorant of the origin of RIP or just the three little letters G-O-D have some deeper affect on you than you would like to admit.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rest_in_peace
The phrase "rest in peace" typically occurs on headstones, often abbreviated "RIP." "Rest in peace" is a prayer that the deceased may rest peacefully, not in torment, while awaiting Judgment Day. The expression comes originally from "requiescat in pace", Latin for "may he/she rest in peace." In Italian, it is said as "Riposi In Pace."
In Protestant Christianity, the belief that the dead wait in Hades until Judgment Day has largely been replaced with the belief that the dead go to their respective fates immediately after death (see particular judgment). Roman Catholicism holds that the soul is similarly judged, but that the body rests in peace until the Final Judgement, when the saints will be reunited with resurrected bodies. All these ideas are contrary to the minority belief known as soul sleep, that the dead receive neither reward nor punishment until Judgment Day. - digitronix, on 06/14/2008, -0/+2There is only one God, the God of the Bible

- DeepFriedFetus, on 06/13/2008, -2/+15Listen, I'm a diehard Ron Paul supporter, but Tim was an incredibly fair and unbiased and made a career of presenting the hard facts to and grilling any politician that stepped in his way. That clip is significant not because of the candidate he is talking about, but because he was one of the first major journalists/commentators to proclaim the democratic primary race over. THAT's why that clip headlined Drudge: because it was *Russert* saying it was over.
My only agenda was to show that when Russert spoke, people listened and cared... and maybe to highlight how humbly appreciative he seemed to be leading his profession in the coverage of our times.

No questions came Obama's way, for instance, even though his position was identical.
They were all hired by multi-billionaire Jack Welch, these Reagan Democrats, with the mission goal of getting the Clintons. They did it, eventually. Matthews had been a reporter, but during impeachment, it was clear that he was a political activist who loathed the Clintons irrationally -- I leave open the obvious possibility of opposing them rationally -- but Chris doesn't do that. He's a psycho.

don't politicize his death.....he was the last of a dying breed....completely neutral and impartial....a true journalist....he grilled both sides of the aisle vehemently - markross, on 06/13/2008, -0/+20As I replied to StormCommander's comment... if you guys ripping me would look a little closer, you'd see that I was in no way politicizing his death any more than he was taking sides when he made that actual statement.
For what it's worth, I'm neither a Democrat nor an Obama supporter.- Dugout21, on 06/14/2008, -7/+1For what it's worth, it still looks like a sleazy plug for Obama. You could have picked any clip to highlight this great man's importance, but you choose that one.
- enki25, on 06/13/2008, -0/+13I agree, I saw him make that announcement and you really could hear the excitement in his voice. It was political, it was historical. I think he said he wished he could be a high school history teacher the next day, to talk about context and really highlight what had just happened.

- xtinamo, on 06/13/2008, -2/+4Last semester I chose his show for a report I had in my poly sci class specifically because of his likability. This may be in extremely poor taste, but does anyone remember when Terry McAuliffe made that embarrassing comment about Russert's father "watching from heaven"? It's just weird to think that now Russert is the one "watching"...if there is a heaven..

- Unbiasedhuman, on 06/13/2008, -0/+3I have nothing in common with Tim Russert regarding his personal political views and everything with reverence regarding his family values and it's importance to him. It's disappointing at this time of mourning, to see so many on this website jump up on there political soap boxes to attack anyone or anything different to there own view. What would Tim have said? - sugarazor, on 06/13/2008, -0/+10No. Meet the Press is the longest running television program out there - it's in its 60th year. David Gregory or Andrea Mitchell are the most logical choices for replacement.

- FrankHope, on 06/13/2008, -5/+72Meet The Press has been my favorite Sunday Morning Talk show for a while. Russert's ambush style interviews are legendary. He will be sorely missed.
