- paintgrl, on 09/28/2008, -3/+181At least NPR is doing real reporting, unlike most other Media outlets. This DVD mailer goes against all the American Ideology that I was taught in school. Remember the melting pot and how anyone can be anything they want in America.
Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddle masses yearning to breath free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!" It was often the first thing that the immigrants saw when they arrived in America.
These people who send out this DVD are racists who spread slander and are damaging our country and its ideology. - BabushkaBlue, on 09/28/2008, -3/+161Wow. That's some nasty stuff.
- MercyPolitics, on 09/28/2008, -2/+137On the link, Clarion issued a short statement to NPR. Obviously, what we need to find out is who is behind all this. Karl Rove's tactic?
- wherearemymeds, on 09/28/2008, -2/+129Republicans are realizing that this isn't the cakewalk they expected--I believe this will get far worse.
- stonecircle, on 06/11/2009, -2/+119Clarion sent us three copies of this DVDs this week -- "Obsession - Radical Islam's War Against the West". This trash went right into the trash can. The address on the mailer supposedly belongs to a Female Black Attorney organization, which is an obvious front. It's time to expose the money trail and take down these people. I am so sick of this political stunt of using fear to keep the Republicans in power.
- homercles337, on 09/28/2008, -3/+99This is crazy stuff. The Repugs are not going to pull any punches. This should be obvious given the number of lies that have come out of the McCain/Palin campaign. I like that this is coming from NPR too. I think this is the first time i have seen NPR on digg.
- toetagger, on 09/28/2008, -4/+91These guys need to get rick rolled on a massive scale between now and the election. SHUT THEM DOWN!
- inactive, on 09/28/2008, -2/+80Sheesh, this is worse than America Online!
- GoKings, on 09/29/2008, -3/+67Did anyone watch that horrible ***** video?
"Sarah Palin is the commander of the National Guard. She was governor of the largest state in the United States, and mayor of the fifth largest city in the state." Are these people ***** kidding me? Talk about a maniuplation of the facts. While the latter two might be true, the way they word it to make it seem like she was mayor of some big town or some incredibly vast state is absolutely asinine. - MediaWeasel, on 09/28/2008, -2/+62And the last para - threatening the next US President with imminent war in the Middle East unless Iran falls in line with their demands.
Fear and blackmail. Typical right wing tactics - inactive, on 09/28/2008, -2/+62Tikun Olam (Kabbalist Group) has filed a complaint again Clarion because they appear to be using their 501 (c) (3) status illegally (see link below) . According to what I've found on the Net - they are distributing 28 million dvds. Anyone who receives one should send it to the IRS along with a complaint letter. I have already contacted Charitynavigator.org and asked them to research and respond. This is a fraudulent attempt to influence the election and take advantage of the tax code.
http://www.israelenews.com/view.asp?ID=3214 - psy333che, on 09/28/2008, -3/+62 This was eye opening
- avataros, on 09/28/2008, -2/+56I'm taking bets on the Over/Under for the number of times said DVD will say "Barack Hussein Obama" instead of "Barack Obama". Even odds are at 265 - any takers?
- ThsGuyRightHere, on 09/28/2008, -2/+45For the love of all that is good and holy, digg the hell out of this article.
For an eye-opening experience, read some of the comments posted in TFA. They'll probably show up here eventually, claiming that this sort of journalism shouldn't be published. They want to censor the people who investigate their own slanderous material, which they don't want anyone to censor.
Too bad they can't have it both ways. - inactive, on 09/28/2008, -2/+45This is an outrageous manipulation of both the tax code and election laws. Here's another way you can help shut these guys down. File a complaint with the federal trade commission. The FTC runs a task force that has open cases against fraudulent charities in over 30 states. They take this stuff seriously. If enough people complain and the FTC investigates the main stream media will finally lift their sleeping heads and expose this.
Here's the link:
https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/ - lofispy, on 09/28/2008, -4/+44Dugg...because I believe people need to know who's behind this DVD, of which two have already shown up in my mailbox. But dugg with reservations because the title is your standard digg sensationalist crap people use to try and get on the front page.....
- webwatch, on 09/28/2008, -0/+39This is a deplorable tactic by a campaign that has no legs to run on. I feel sorry for people that fall for this disgusting tactic.
- Arishia, on 09/28/2008, -3/+42McCain-- "And you will know their names!! You will know their names!!"
Sounds good to me, so, let's see their names. :-) - eir574, on 09/28/2008, -1/+38This particular action is repugnant, and there's much to criticize about what the republicans have been doing for the past eight years. But, calling them "repugs" is no better than when conservatives on digg think they're being clever by calling liberals "libtards" or referring to Obama as the messiah. When democrats and/or liberals on digg resort to name calling, it pushes people on the right further away and makes it easier for them to dismiss us as bad people. It makes them even more secure in their view that there's no possible way they could be wrong or that anyone could change their minds.
- ace429k, on 09/29/2008, -1/+34I received one today. i live in Michigan. it melted in the microwave when i interrogated it for lies.
- inactive, on 09/29/2008, -1/+31FTA: "...Joachim Martillo has shown that the Clarion Fund, which is distributing the film, has connections to Aish haTorah, a Jewish revivalist outreach group that I've run into myself that is based in Jerusalem, with storefront centers around the U.S., and that has rightwing biblical views on the Land of Israel. Two big newspapers are refusing to distribute Obsession, though the New York Times did distribute it. Meantime, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, CAIR, is seeking a Federal Election Commission investigation of the free DVD distribution, saying that Clarion Fund/Aish is an Israel-based group that is seeking to "whip up anti-Muslim hysteria." Richard Silverstein ... thinks there is a Sheldon Adelson connection, which makes sense because Adelson is against dividing Jerusalem.
The issue is heating up in Florida, where the Palm Beach Post has slammed the distribution:
"The irony is that The Clarion Fund, whatever the group is and whoever runs it, is operating like the secret cells it warns about. Terrorists are cowards. In their own way, so are the people sending out this campaign ad."
This is the heart of the issue, that rightwing Zionists operate so often in this country with a hidden agenda. Like Sheldon Adelson, benefactor of One Jerusalem, the anti-Camp David group, propping up George Bush's campaign in 2000 and Bush hiring One Jerusalem's Doug Feith as an under secretary of Defense just as Adelson's third tranche of $300,000 in gifts to a Republican committee arrived. Yes I wonder about the conspiracy. Feith brought with him the Invade Iraq neoconservative virus. Of course other people had it, too. But again, where is the journalism? Where is the description of the neocons' agenda, network, and covert ops.
A friend writes, "This is a dirty secret that needs to be dealt with: American Muslims feel that right-wing American Jews create an environment of extreme hostility towards them. It poisons inter-community relations and unfortunately strengthens anti-Semitic attitudes (for instance: Jews are a powerful enemy who hate Muslims). The argument paraphrases an old article that Daniel Pipes, who's in the Obsession movie, wrote entitled: American Muslims against American Jews (Commentary 1999)."
There is obviously some truth to that Muslim fear, with respect to right wing Jews. You'd think Americans are better than this, or the Jewish community is. So far the best journalism on the matter is in the blogosphere."

http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5iEsmhiNuC1Aio2b ... - psyclonic, on 09/29/2008, -2/+29why are American Zionists so pro-GOP? are they still angry with Jimmy "Peace not Apartheid" Carter?
this is the time to reacquaint ourselves with the enlightened American principles of secular government, property rights and self-determination - the principles that set America apart 232 years ago. America should always expect its "allies" to embrace them as well. - joand315, on 09/29/2008, -3/+30Isn't it ironic that the same people that got our soldiers sent over to "protect Iraqis" from Saddam Hussein are whipping up intolerance for Iraqi refugees here? That tape from Clarion is blamed for whipping up anti Muslim feeling to such an extent that babies and children were gassed in Dayton, Ohio, while their mother were praying.
Somehow we have to stop this poison before it spreads any further. - metaliq, on 09/29/2008, -1/+27No. He wasn't.
- MorganMghee, on 09/29/2008, -1/+25This is the same company responsible for sending terroristic propaganda via home delivered newspapers in southern swing states. Now, as then, I encourage you to contact both the company responsible, but also the media carrying the message. Propaganda is a tactic used against your enemies, not your fellow Americans and political party members. http://www.editorandpublisher.com/eandp/news/artic ...
- Gemfinder, on 09/28/2008, -0/+23"Cakewalk?"
With respect, give me a break. After eight years of GWB, they never had a place at the table, politically. - doctorfungi, on 09/29/2008, -3/+25The people who are painting Obama as a Muslim are not "Republicans". They are fair-right ideologues who offer nothing practical to the political world.
Saying that these people are Republicans is like saying Stalin was a Democrat. - chase001, on 09/29/2008, -0/+21...no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States.
- mezzanine88, on 09/29/2008, -1/+22The strangest part of all of this ***** scaremongering against Muslims is that they all share the same God.
- trafficlight, on 09/29/2008, -0/+21The worst part about this is not that they are portraying Obama as a muslim, but rather the fact that so many people are afraid of muslims to begin with.
- ThsGuyRightHere, on 09/28/2008, -0/+19Well said sir. To sink to the level of the hardcore right, a minority who do not in fact represent all conservatives, is to justify their tactics and embolden them.
- magus_melchior, on 09/29/2008, -0/+19"Do you expect me to talk?"
"No, Mr. DVD, I expect you to cook." - Divals, on 09/29/2008, -2/+21Snrk. Well put... though most of those far-right ideologues are registered as Republicans.
- FairDinkumMate, on 09/29/2008, -0/+18Because YOU said so & supported YOUR claim with so many FACTS & SOURCES???
MORON!!! - Olon97, on 09/29/2008, -1/+19Only one side is gassing children as part of their evil...

This cat has no understanding of religion, life, faith, Jesus, or God. Only bigotry. As I understand the Bible, owdenBowden is on his way to hell. Enjoy your trip.
- Moodswung, on 09/29/2008, -1/+19What's worse, the people willing to outright lie about this or the people that have blindly bought into it?
Just the other day I was asked if I knew that, "Obama was sworn in on the Koran."
It takes 5-seconds to google this and find the truth. It's too bad there's people unwilling to take the initiative. - pintomp3, on 09/29/2008, -0/+17it's sad, but there is a growing number of people who believe god created america for the white christian and that it should have dominance over all other countries. welcome to the american taliban.
- pintomp3, on 09/29/2008, -0/+16this goes far beyond just a campaign. there are people out there who believe a holy war is coming and are recruiting hate. just look at jesus camp.
- magus_melchior, on 09/29/2008, -0/+16Anyone thinking that Israel and Jews are best served by attacking Islam and Arabs would do well to remember a certain American patriot:
"He that would make his own liberty secure must guard even his enemy from oppression; for if he violates this duty he establishes a precedent that will reach to himself."
Not to mention, a certain activist:
"An eye for an eye makes everyone blind." - chelsealeaf, on 09/29/2008, -1/+16The anti-Obama camps have to make ***** up to sway people. McCain is just himself and that's enough to make him not only a disgraceful candidate but I disgraceful human being.
- Trigonometron, on 09/29/2008, -0/+15Stop arguing, start DOS attacks on clarionfund.org and radicalislam.org
- kooredaan, on 09/29/2008, -1/+16I live in CO (Denver) and got a DVD from Clarion. I didn't open it, but the cover was 'Radical Islam' or something like that, etc. . . . It's now in the garbage - where Clarion should be.
- voilaamour, on 09/29/2008, -1/+15I mean i keep WAITING for a legitimate valid argument that the Republicans/McCain camp has against liberals and it always ends up being something stupid like this ad.
- kingofinternet, on 09/29/2008, -3/+16cue rabid right response: npr is biased! this is anti-semitic media!
- toetagger, on 09/29/2008, -1/+13First of all it is bigotry to hold it against someone for being a Muslim. Secondly, they didn't simply do that - they said he was a radical Muslim who hates America. So how are all these lies by the Republicans been serving you? Are you doing well? Your kids will have to pay for all the hate and bigotry and trillion dollar wars these criminals put upon us and YOU DEFEND IT.
- FairDinkumMate, on 09/29/2008, -0/+10The problem is America's libel laws suck!
They have been written & endorsed by corporate media lobbyists to protect their own interests. To prove libel in the US(unlike the ENTIRE rest of the developed world) the aggrieved party must PROVE the allegations false, as opposed to the commonsense, rest of the world approach which is that the person making the claims must PROVE them true if challenged in court!
It doesn't sound too bad until you realise how easy it is to make a statement virtually unprovable as untrue such as "George Bush is bisexual". If this were true, in any other developed country, the person pulicly making the statement could legally make the statement & provide their evidence(such as video tape or sworn statements of George Bush having 'relations' with people of both sexes). Unfortunately, due to lobbyist & corporate interests, to sue for libel George Bush would have to prove that he ISN'T bisexual & that's impossible!
Eliminate the lobbyists, get politicians of ALL parties working for the people instead of for corporate or self-interest lobby groups & America will suddenly begin once again to live up to its promise! - inactive, on 09/29/2008, -1/+11Good thing it is all ***** anyway... if it weren't for stupid voters considering religiosity a prerequisite for office.
