- cobbwobbles, on 04/09/2008, -9/+46Yeah actions start to mean more than rhetoric after you see your buds arm get blow the ***** off and part of his splintered bone impales you in the cheek. That ***** gets old real fast. They know this war is *****.
- i70CuDa, on 04/09/2008, -18/+50Ron Paul still received most donations from military personnel
- inactive, on 04/09/2008, -1/+25i support obama too, but this is a blog with no citations. it has no credibility.
- PATSCRU, on 04/09/2008, -4/+25Then you know some sadistic marines...I have two cousins in the marines, and while they're more than willing to perform their duties, they never wish or hope for killing, it is something they do only when it is absolutely necessary.
- kemp34, on 04/09/2008, -24/+44Mr. Media Silenced Ron Paul actually received the most 2007 donations from members of the military. Funny, these honorable people seem to really be much more likely to support those who stand by their oath to defend the U.S. Constitution. If Obama becomes president I hope he does his number one duty and upholds the rule of Constitutional law rather than trample it like the Bush-Clinton 20 year regime has been so accustomed to.
- Dimalinch, on 04/09/2008, -10/+28Why the buries? If I remember right, he did receive more donations than any other candidate from active duty military personnel.
- inactive, on 04/09/2008, -32/+50Not as much as they like Ron Paul.
- ExplosivesWTC, on 04/09/2008, -12/+29Actually the troops prefer Ron Paul. He would have them out tomorrow if he was elected now.
- inactive, on 04/09/2008, -21/+37Of course they do. If it was up to Obama, they wouldn’t be there to begin with.
- lamiaconfitor, on 04/09/2008, -1/+16look, everyone thinks that the military are all bush supporters because they are in the army/navy/marines etc... this isn't true, they have a job to do and they do it. and damned well, if you ask my opinion. I don't serve in the armed forces, but I know several who do, and their political leanings are as diverse as the rest of the nations' political leanings. also, this articles scope is limited. I respect the input of our fighting forces on one of the most important topics in the race this year, but statistical samples please, not anecdotal ones.
- goffy59, on 04/09/2008, -3/+17Because he has better ideas then anyone else. If people are influenced, maybe next time we will have competent people elected. Rather then all these pricks who support the same system that has plagued the united states for years. None of them exactly have a plan to fix the system, just more ***** that they have been doing for years and years. I think systems in this government need to be dismantled and the tax dollars should stop being wasted on them. But hell, this election was a fraud too. The democrats didn't do ***** and the republicans are just ***** idiots. Kind of sick of this *****.
- dagamore, on 04/09/2008, -3/+16Lets see, they polled 5 troopers and that means all trooper support Obama. good logic there. Other sites say that they polled 11 troopers, and they only reported quotes/answers from 5 of them, and look they all fell the same way. Good reporting there.
Speaking as someone working with troops here in Germany, I don't know of a single troop/spouse that wants either Clinton or Obama to win. Most i know/talked to wanted Fred, then Ron Paul, but are willing to settle for McCain.
and my sample size is more like 45-50 not 11. The only person in my office building that I know supports Obama is a German national and cant vote.
just my 2 cents. - bovox, on 04/09/2008, -6/+19Are they from the South? Because up here in Washington I know 5 sailors over in Bremerton who are going to vote for Obama.
- felman87, on 04/09/2008, -7/+18the troops don't support themselves!
- pilobilus, on 04/09/2008, -2/+13Surprise: The original article and all but two of those interviewed would vote for Obama. The others were 1 for Billary and 1 for "don't know who the candidates are".
http://abcnews.go.com/WN/Story?id=4244798&page=1 - Dimalinch, on 04/09/2008, -3/+14A good friend of mine joined the Marines. He is a complete nut case now, and he hasn't even been to war yet! The military completely brainwashed him.
example: thinks all "Towel-heads" are "Fagots" and need to be killed.... need I say more?
I have tried to explain reality to him, yet all he does is get angry and resort to insults and threats. - kiubo, on 04/09/2008, -1/+10That statement sounded regurgitated. Please elaborate.
- DiggLive, on 04/09/2008, -12/+21BRING THEM HOME! BRING THEM HOME!
- goffy59, on 04/09/2008, -2/+10Americans are predictable, but we had no right to be there in the first place.
- kiubo, on 04/09/2008, -0/+8copy paste much?
- Ch0mpr, on 04/09/2008, -3/+11*surprise* you're an idiot
ok maybe not a surprise, but still - jack104, on 04/09/2008, -2/+9Yea this article is not a credible source. They asked 4 people, and I guardamntee you that those soldiers aren't from my unit because there isn't a single person there that agrees with them. Making such a claim should be backed by research, it wasn't, hence its bull.
- wtrwlkr, on 04/09/2008, -2/+9I support Obama. I'm in the Airforce, am from the south (unfortunately) and am white (not like it matters, but I can see some ignorant ***** coming in saying it's because i'm black)
- DiggLive, on 04/09/2008, -1/+8First, not everyone supported the war. Second, stop watching Fox News.
- arcooke, on 04/09/2008, -18/+25I have a total of 3 friends currently in the military and 2 that are already back (all Navy/Marines). Not one of them likes Obama.
- queotic, on 04/09/2008, -2/+9Buried because I'm an Obama supporter who knows that RP has, indeed, received the most donations from our military.
- trevor98, on 04/09/2008, -1/+8If you truly believe your government is capable and willing to commit to such a crime then get your ass off dig, buy an ax handle, and get out in the street to revolt. By knowing and not doing anything about it then you are as guilty as any conspirators.
- pilobilus, on 04/09/2008, -3/+10Surprise: Here's the story and all but two of those interviewed would vote for Obama. The others were 1 for Billary and 1 for "don't know who the candidates are".
The article quoted in the blog this Digg links to: http://abcnews.go.com/WN/Story?id=4244798&page=1 - HellDonut, on 04/09/2008, -0/+7less money = mo problems
- queotic, on 04/09/2008, -0/+7"Someone tell them Obama not only voted to keep them in Iraq..." Dubya sent our troops off to war without proper funding. Senator Obama voted to "fund" the war, i.e., provide our soldiers with all of the equipment they needed (that should have been provided BEFORE they were sent).
"...but wants to send them into Pakistan too" Oh no...don't send the troops to places where Al Qaeda actually is. That would be terrible. - ostracize, on 04/09/2008, -1/+8Actually RP said the same thing. He'd pull them out of Korea, Germany, etc. by tomorrow but would ask for an Iraq timetable. Even he recognizes the precariousness of pulling out at the drop of a hat.
- PeppermintPig, on 04/09/2008, -1/+7So the only thing that matters is what you think? No wonder this country is in a mess: Nobody takes the time to listen and respect the liberties of others.
Republicans and Democrats, in general, are eager to disregard your rights when they conflict with their agendas. - yergi, on 04/09/2008, -15/+21"Surprise: Soldiers actually don't want this war to continue indefinably."
True, and that's why most of us continue to support Dr Paul.
Vote for whom you agree with - not the person the media certifies as the most electable. - BobEwell, on 04/09/2008, -1/+7Well I'm currently stationed in Germany and most of my fellow airman support Obama and most hate Hillary. We respect McCain for his service but dislike his political views.
- ccxftw, on 04/09/2008, -1/+7You do realise that not everyone in the military is in Iraq right?
- d0onut, on 04/09/2008, -4/+10I was a Ron Paul supporter 'til I realized no one knew who he was. He got absolutely no media attention, and I didn't think the average voter was regularly visiting Digg. I'd prefer taking the election from Hillary or McCain, rather than remaining in denial.
- Diderotten, on 04/09/2008, -3/+9So the troops' choice is a joke?
- sqwirl, on 04/09/2008, -0/+5Yeah, because soldiers can't vote or anything. . .
- phildixon, on 04/09/2008, -2/+7I am not sure the submitted meant to use it but "indefinably" is a word and in this context actually makes sense.
- CrankyHippo, on 04/09/2008, -2/+7I was going to say their mothers... but I'm sure Ron Paul is up there
/sarcasm - twobitsprite, on 04/09/2008, -0/+5While we're at it, maybe we shouldn't let citizens form political opinions at all. We should all just leave the decision making to The Decider.
- sigg14, on 04/09/2008, -0/+5I could probably find 5 soldiers who support bush too, maybe I can write an article about how "The troops like Bush"
- Chordinator, on 04/09/2008, -4/+9It's a nice idea to write Dr. Paul on your ballot, but let's be honest... we all know that he'll still be beaten by write-ins for Yoda. Maybe even by Rick Astley too but I don't know, it should be close.
- sqwirl, on 04/09/2008, -0/+5That copy paste? Yeah, you can stop it now.
- masterwalls69, on 04/09/2008, -19/+24Who does the Troops LOVE more than Obama? Ron Paul
- Revovisionary, on 04/09/2008, -3/+8What, am I supposed to give my name rank and social security number? And I'm not in the Army... The word troop refers to anyone serving in the military.
- inactive, on 04/09/2008, -3/+8Watch me twist something for you. They are called FACTS. You'll find them concealed in books.
He voted AGAINST the war in Iraq.
He voted FOR supporting them while they are there.
Don't let these facts escape you. Read them until they sink in. I know it must be very hard for you, being illiterate and all. Have your mom read them to you, just in case. - inactive, on 04/09/2008, -0/+5Soldiers are not stupid! We know that whoever becomes President will send us somewhere.
Be more careful of who you vote for congress, as opposed to President, thats where the real power lies. - tlgjames, on 04/09/2008, -0/+5This article is pretty much bogus, cherry picked people. It just sadly isn't true in my 5 1/2 years in the military.
