- bobbarr2008, on 07/24/2008, -12/+65We are pleased to put out this video to help spread the word.
Have you had enough of the government bailouts and the sellout of your privacy?
Have you had enough of the trampling of your individual liberties to fight a war against a tactic?
Have you had enough of the endless spending to prop up our broken welfare state?
If you have, please become a fan of the Bob Barr 2008 profile, visit our website, and join our campaign. We need your help to bring a real choice to this election. Remember, we must rise up and CONTINUE to fight for our freedoms in this hour of darkness.
http://www.bobbarr2008.com - LexX69, on 07/24/2008, -7/+57Very nice and the timing of this video couldn't be better!!! Yesterday the House passed a bill to fingerprint all brokers, to allow the IRS to monitor all credit card transactions and to force all Americans to pay their mortgages and the mortgages of their neighbors. Now is surely the time to stand up and say enough is enough. For Liberty!!
- rhelwig, on 07/24/2008, -12/+47Nicely done video!
- Hentsvon, on 07/24/2008, -10/+32WOW! it was great! tell everyone today! I feel like I did after I watched "Ron Paul: A New Hope"
- highlymodified, on 07/25/2008, -6/+26While I appreciate the well-constructed video and respect (although often disagree with some of) Libertarian theory in practice, I can't help but think JFK and George Carlin are spinning in their graves.
Seriously now, the most famous liberal of the 20th century supporting Bob Barr?
George Carlin supporting ANY POLITICIAN?
Regan, The original neo-conservative Republican?
It makes for a nice montage, but it's so hand-assembled that it's ridiculous. - jfej004, on 07/24/2008, -6/+26Another choice besides the big government, status-quo candidates, Obama and Mccain!
- jonathani1, on 07/24/2008, -11/+31Go Bob Barr! What are you doing to preserve freedom?
- seeowester, on 07/24/2008, -10/+29Great video, I love the compilation of all the quotes from some of the greatest speakers in history. They may have made those statements a long time ago, but they still apply and resonate today. Go Bob Go!
- StringCheese10, on 07/24/2008, -11/+29Inspirational and moving. The government has been expanding so much and taking away so many of our personal liberties away, its great to hear a candidate who will actually address these issues!
Remember to pledge for the new "Axe the Tax" Barr bomb!
http://www.barrbomb.com - DVmaker, on 07/25/2008, -5/+22Bob Barr is a poor man's Ron Paul.
- cpsubrian, on 07/24/2008, -9/+25Great Video. We need to get this on top of the YouTube charts today. 100,000 views anyone?
- pebarefoot, on 07/24/2008, -9/+25a stirring and resonant video . a call to change the way the government of America operates at a fundamental level . People are saying this election is about change . Let's really change it ! Vote Bab Barr for President ! Vote Libertarian !
- kemp34, on 07/24/2008, -10/+24Very solid video. Nice work.
- GaTechSwagger, on 07/24/2008, -8/+21Finally a video that ties together classical Republicanism and modern libertarianism.
- Tommyhawk, on 07/25/2008, -3/+16I like the message... not too excited about the man though.
- WTF69, on 07/25/2008, -6/+19Hes trying to reach the Ron Paul followers but Barr is no Ron Paul and doesnt have teh record to at least make you think he is a Libertarian
- inactive, on 07/25/2008, -1/+14If Barr has honestly changed, then I'd vote for him. But I'll be honest, it's hard to trust politicians. Can you blame me? Is there any current evidence other than rhetoric that he has REALLY changed? I need evidence...
- austinwpetersen, on 07/24/2008, -9/+21As for me and my house, we shall vote for Barr!
- wishninja, on 07/24/2008, -5/+16Bob Barr used to play executioner in the drug war theater. I have always said it will take someone like that, a drug war insider that finally steps back and takes stock of the big picture to end this madness. He was a drug war thug but he has taken a step back and realized he was brainwashed by the power government officials feel when they get to tell someone exactly how to live their life. It must be hard to give up the notion that people are your own property.
- largesandwich, on 07/24/2008, -8/+17Go go go go go!
- blackanode, on 07/25/2008, -0/+9Thank you for posting this. I never knew too much about but have now read up, and fully support you for your presidential campaign. You had some views in that past that I did not like. You have changed your views on certain things and for the better. Good luck and give em hell.
- wishninja, on 07/24/2008, -2/+11people can change you know. I know I did about a 180 when I saw what Ron Paul was offering.
- j.carcinogen, on 07/25/2008, -1/+9The CIA's Ron Paul.
He was a CIA agent, voted for the Patriot Act, was a leader on the War on Drugs... and now he is the LP Candidate? Definitely keeping me from voting for him and I'm a card carrying Libertarian. - inactive, on 07/25/2008, -2/+10Not sure why onetimer is being dugg down. And believe me, I don't agree with him half the time. But guess what, onetimer is partially right. In that Barr NEEDS to be criticized for his past. Just as Obama NEEDS to be criticized for his current mistakes. And at the same time, both need to be praised for when they get things right.
But until Barr can provide some evidence that he has changed, other than him merely saying so, I'll have to abstain from voting.
As for the whole "stripper" crap, it does point out hypocrisy on Barr's part. But if he has indeed changed, at least he has recognized and admitted he was wrong. Which, if true, is more than I can say about most politicians. - Incy, on 07/24/2008, -5/+13Nothing is as inspiring as an appeal to believe in yourself and to fight for your personal freedom.
- daidu42, on 07/25/2008, -6/+14Excellent video. I'm surprised they included Ayn Rand, but I'm glad they did. Bob Barr has a chance to make an historic impact for the Libertarian party this year. There's still 3+ months before the general election and many people may wise up under the incessant barrage of faux news and big-government politics during that time.
- blackolive, on 07/24/2008, -10/+17Bob Barr:
"Voted YES on banning gay adoptions."
"Favors expanding the armed forces"
"Strongly Favors teacher-led prayer in public schools."
"Strongly opposes replacing coal & oil with alternatives"
"Supports anti-flag desecration amendment."
"Voted YES on prohibiting medical marijuana."
"Voted YES on banning Family Planning funding in US aid abroad."
"Strongly Favors Mandatory Three Strikes sentencing laws "
-- http://ontheissues.org/Bob_Barr.htm - mlirblur, on 07/24/2008, -6/+13Onetimer just likes to troll every article in favor of Libertarianism. A hopeless statist who misses the point.
Don't feed him. - Daamien, on 07/24/2008, -7/+13It's disheartening to see you carry on politics as usual by focusing on past mistakes rather than discussing policy.
Bob joined the Libertarian Party in 2006 after assessing his previous blunders. He has reversed his positions regarding Federal involvement in marriage, drugs, religion, and even abortion. This was done in advance of the recent liberty movement spearheaded by Ron Paul. Bob regrets his former actions and positions and has actively worked to undo many of those mistakes he helped propagate while in office.
If you feel that he is unworthy of the office of the Presidency on the basis of past actions that he has and continues to attempt to repent for, then consider that the Libertarian Party nominated him through an open and democratic process to lead the party despite those past actions. He is articulate, has name recognition, has experience, and shares the beliefs of many in the party. I encourage you to support the party in the run-up to the general election to involve the Libertarian Party's platform in our political discourse. Hopefully Barr will be permitted to join debates with the leading candidates. However, focusing on personal mistakes that have been apologized for does not serve to expand that political discourse. - BotchaMcCoola, on 07/25/2008, -1/+7Ditto
- freshyill, on 07/25/2008, -3/+9It's really easy to spot the comments that got dugg up by sham accounts because they always the most inane, asinine comments that are usually buried deep, yet are somehow still visible.
- TGMD, on 07/25/2008, -5/+10as much as I personally dislike Barr's history his current stance is something to be accounted... we all make mistakes
I think I know who I'm voting for. - inactive, on 07/25/2008, -0/+5lol! A libertarian track record would be nice. There is no such evidence that would be sufficient at this point. This was a terrible nomination by the LP, and it drove most of the actual libertarians out of the party.
For the sake of discussion.. He could try to talk some sense into the LP. Ask them to actually nominate a libertarian. Spend at least 4 years going through the motions of being a libertarian. Answering tough questions in front of the cameras, telling people what they need to hear, rather then what he thinks they'd like to hear, or what he is most comfortable saying. At that point, maybe in desperation, he might make for a passable LP nominee. Anyone with a brain would probably like at least 10 years of honesty, and consistency.
It's not just about him. There are too many real libertarians, that have been actual libertarians, for too long, for it to make any sense to deal with this guy. It makes no sense. I mean, aside from this being a sign of the libertarians losing the LP, or maybe that the LP thinks power, money, members, prestige, etc., is somehow more important then the principles that make it relevant, and necessary. - JRongstad, on 07/25/2008, -5/+10Great video! A nice tying together of pro freedom clips.
- libr3volution, on 07/25/2008, -0/+5I'm voting for Barr come November!
- ChristophyBrown, on 07/25/2008, -0/+4Copy paste any sentence and put it into google, and you'll realize how desperate this man is.
- wishninja, on 07/25/2008, -2/+6Ron Paul had his chance, he quit remember? We have to get behind someone I will not vote for the top two idiots. Bob barr has the next best chance.
- inactive, on 07/25/2008, -1/+5I'm a little disappointed. I was hoping this was a promo for Ron Paul's "Campaign for Liberty."
- janejumbomargar, on 07/24/2008, -9/+13Including deeply concerned American leaders from the left and the right (MLK and Goldwater and Rand) is a great way to show that all Americans are at heart libertarian on some issues! The campaign seems to be headed in the right direction. Move over McBama, Bob is on the way! I had a friend comment on my bumper sticker the other day. It reads Dump McBama; Bob Barr 2008! My friend was interested in learning more! Go Bob!
- objectivist, on 07/25/2008, -0/+4I agree with the message, but I disagree that any party can fix America. It will take a concerted and organized effort of people to remove their children from the prison school system, print or mint their own currencies, and refuse to cooperate with or support government thugs, and corporations.
Most Americans today lack the knowledge, passion, and integrity to be able to do such a thing. - thrive868, on 07/25/2008, -0/+4Excellent video! We must fight tyranny on every front. Whether it be globalist bankers, the E.U., or the N.A.U. The moment we give up is when the great experiment of liberty dies.
- daidu42, on 07/25/2008, -1/+5You're right, he's no Ron Paul, and has less charisma. But, the Libertarian party line is so easy to carry because its simple and principled. Barr speaks well and responds to all issues truthfully based on a philosophy of individual freedom, and that's really all one requires from a libertarian presidential candidate.
- buddypriefert, on 07/25/2008, -5/+9I can understand the Ron Paulites appreciate this video, but not the Obama supporters since he is more for government handouts: free healthcare for all - including illegal aliens (they account for the 14 million of the 47 milllion he said he wants to cover) and raising taxes.
- mecharabbit, on 07/25/2008, -2/+6Yeah, I'm sure that most of the comments are from Barr shills, who have realize the awesome power of Digg.
- wishninja, on 07/25/2008, -0/+4I put Obama lower on the list.
- nickflyer, on 07/25/2008, -0/+4This is my first comment ever here on DIGG. I am a staunch conservative Republican, and yet this Libertarian video really hit the spot. It isn't far from what Republicans stood for not that long ago. I would hate to vote third party this time around, but I don't know if I can support McCain in 2008. The Republican party has lost its way in the past decade. You can't even recognize them anymore. Go Bob Barr!
- BotchaMcCoola, on 07/25/2008, -0/+4Don't follow your concern. We Libertarians would not get along well with liberals like Obama exactly as you say. I think we are more like the original Republicans.
