- angelslay, on 10/03/2008, -27/+978I have to give credit to Palin and her advisers of being able to come up with a way to completely dodge questions and avoid discussing topics she has no idea about. Just use "Let's get back to (previous topic)" and just avoid the question altogether. Never did I believe she understood what she was even talking about. Don't understand a topic, insert "John McCain is a maverick that went against his own party," "Obama wants to increase taxes," or wink at the camera to distract the viewers from what is actually being said. Here we have candidate for the second highest position in the country, coming off as folksy and talking to us like we are a child. Can she be any less presidential? We don't need someone who could ad-lib their way through a debate and call it a success. This country deserves better than this.
- futrsenator, on 10/03/2008, -28/+827am i the only one that has a problem with her making a 'Shout Out' during a presidential debate??? she is making a mockery of our country.
- HarChim, on 10/03/2008, -25/+572I don't understand how anyone could say she won or it was tie. She was just in her own little world saying whatever she wanted. I know people are sick of Washington insiders but just because you want someone from the "outside" doesn't mean you should vote for someone that doesn't even belong there.
- inactive, on 10/03/2008, -18/+480No American can get a job without a thorough interview. The Presidency is the one f*cking job where this process should not be skipped.
- zerobriers, on 10/03/2008, -19/+417She reminded me of Bush up there. Doesn't know much, isn't interested in knowing more, but sure is folksy, you betcha, (wink).

- SDeluxe, on 10/03/2008, -17/+227I can't find this funny. Its too accurate to be funny.
Seriously, I'm just disgusted by this image cause of its 100% Truth - Sultana, on 10/03/2008, -2/+183That was a major WTF moment. I'm surprised none of the pundits have said anything about that yet. It was so out of place.
- JasonCox, on 10/03/2008, -1/+164I'm sure the folks above me heard me yelling at my TV when she did that.
- mrdeathgod, on 10/03/2008, -7/+156Very close, but it left out a few steps:
1. Replace every -ing with -in'
2. Wink condescendingly at the camera
3. Remember, it's pronounced "nook-u-lar" - debbmoff, on 10/03/2008, -2/+149Did anyone hear her call Joe "Obiden?
- kiwiboyus, on 10/03/2008, -2/+149So damn true! I watched the debates with my wife who has not really seen much of Palin so far and she noticed it right away. "What she talking about?" "She didn't answer the question at all." and "Did she just wink at the camera?!"
My wife is pretty new to voting and very much an undecided, the kind of vote Palin would be after. She didn't fool her for one second with that routine. - chaos7, on 10/03/2008, -25/+166dog gone it
- palewook, on 10/03/2008, -2/+134good flowchart but they left out
"wink at the camera" - lepster10101, on 10/03/2008, -15/+123She really was pathetic. I didn't see a single informed answer from her all night. If she had to answer the question first it was always a complete mess. Why in the name of god would the media be covering this as a good performance?
- jimhfisher, on 10/03/2008, -4/+107Kept waiting for "Golly-gee willickers!"
- marcabminion, on 10/03/2008, -15/+117The Miss Alaska Debate Flow Chart
/Fixed - pennsykid2000, on 10/03/2008, -6/+107Mixing up the name of a Civil War general (McClellan) and the current commander in Afghanistan (McKiernan) could be innocent or a sign of major incompetence. With Palin, it's hard to tell. Next she'll be praising Stonewall Jackson's tactics in the Anbar province of Iraq.
Sarah Palin criticizing Barack Obama and Joe Biden is like my last place Pittsburgh Pirates criticizing the play of the Chicago Cubs and Boston Red Sox--absurd on the face of it!
Palindrome: Short for “Palin Syndrome”, making statements that are as nonsensical read forwards as backwards. - DangerCollie, on 10/03/2008, -8/+108I'll take Vacuous Twits for $800, Alex.
- voteobama4, on 10/03/2008, -16/+104Everyone dodges questions, but Palin takes it to a new level.
Guess that is what you have to do when you're running on the promise of change, but your policies offer no change whatsoever. - jerrolds, on 10/03/2008, -1/+88Pew! Pew! Pew!
- nycjap, on 10/03/2008, -0/+87Some have, but they are being careful not to be "condescending". Lord knows, how tough that is with this candidate.
This is reminiscent of kids who grow up speaking informally, using slang most of the time with their friends at school, who then have a difficult time making the adjustment to more formal patterns of speech.
If she wants to talk that way with the rest of the "haw-kee maw-ms" in Wasilla, that's her privilege, but as a Vice Presidential candidate, her lack of command of the English language reveal her rather juvenile world perspective. - inactive, on 10/03/2008, -0/+85What I found annoying was her Bush-esque pronunciation of nuclear. I counted at least 6 "nuk-you-lurs" in a row from her.
Thank god Biden has enough respect for the English lanugage to get it right every single time in his rebuttal. Personally I think that should be a condition of office; if you can't pronounce the doomsday weapons, you shouldn't be allowed near the button for them. - gweedo767, on 10/03/2008, -3/+86This flow chart is horribly wrong. There isn't one reference to her oil rich state in a question that has nothing to do with energy policies.
- protodon, on 10/03/2008, -1/+84Adding O in front of something is a way of honoring something in Japan. So I'm sure that that's what she was doing. I mean she can prob almost see japan from her house! j/k
- rsbryswrrl, on 10/03/2008, -11/+89I don't think I heard her once give a clear policy initiative that the McCain/Palin ticket would pursue once in office, with the exception of the whole "Drill, Baby, Drill" issue, but even McCain doesn't agree with her on that. Pathetic. But of course there are all the morans who will say, "She's just like me - I'mma vote for her." Call me crazy, but I prefer a Vice President and President that are smarter than me...
- drmobutu, on 10/03/2008, -2/+77I thought it was great, how she told our little Jewish buddies, that we won't let 'em Holocaust 'ya again...
- elnerdo, on 10/03/2008, -1/+72It worked for Bush..
- DD2CC2U, on 10/03/2008, -13/+79All of the MSM is saying Sarah Palin did well because she did not totally screw up. I say she did screw up because she was mediocre at best. A better term to describe her performance in the debate was poor. Why does the MSM say her performance was OK? Is this only because she did not fall flat on her face? But I say she fell on her knees and stumbled the whole way toward the finish line. So Palin still failed to show that she is qualified to be President any way one views this debate.
- petebot, on 10/03/2008, -3/+69I didn't have a "problem" with it, but it was weird. I remember when people only gave shout outs at the VMAs. Of course, that was back when MTV showed music videos, so I guess I'm showing my age.
- zantos420, on 10/03/2008, -4/+68i couldn't ***** believe it when she winked into the camera i wanted to slap the ***** out of her
- junglist1319, on 10/03/2008, -9/+71What about 'fallback on the threat of Nu-cu-lar weapons or terrorism'?

- druidskeep, on 10/03/2008, -7/+64from a conservative's standpoint ... this is still funny - lol
- chaos7, on 10/03/2008, -28/+85that chart is so true
- loisln77, on 10/03/2008, -1/+57Your response just made me really happy!
- KungFooJesus, on 10/03/2008, -1/+55Remember, we twice voted into office a president we'd like to have a beer with. The republicans are gaming on her to connect with people on a very familiar level. I hate to say it, but she did exactly what she needed to do in the Karl Rove presidential politics playbook. She repeated things over and over, made accusations that sounded bad without having to back them up, and did not go into specifics really on anything except McCain's healthcare tax credit.
The thinking is that the less hardcore information you give voters about your plans, the less chance there is to find something wrong with it. These are the same people that took a one-term Texas governor and turned him into a president, there are striking similarities between him and Palin. Folksy, approachable, want to have a beer with them (or in Palin's case, a bottle of wine and angry sex that brings up insecurities from your childhood), short political career ending with governor, and they debate the exact same way. Why? because this ***** works. Granted McCain is a better candidate than Bush but the republicans game politics better than dems. period. it sucks. - mikbunn, on 10/03/2008, -4/+57Chloroform
- barnett25, on 10/03/2008, -0/+52I was talking about her dodging questions this morning and one of my coworkers said "Good for her! She doesn't need to play their games!".
Some people apparently like it when their candidate refuses to answer questions that are asked for the benefit of the voters. - RoshanK, on 10/03/2008, -2/+53That doesn't change the fact that this is damn hilarious, while at the same time not hilarious since its mostly true...oh god we're ***** if mccain wins.
- crownedgriffin, on 10/03/2008, -10/+61She couldn't even make it past the second question without ignoring it and talking in circles.
- brstilson, on 10/03/2008, -2/+52Folksy = cocky, passive-aggressive smarmy attitude masked by "down home" accent.

- pintomp3, on 10/03/2008, -0/+48i'm winkin atchya!
- inajeep, on 10/03/2008, -3/+48It depends on the reason for evading the answer.
1. Does not want to paint themselves into a corner.
2. Does not know the answer. - wendelgee2, on 10/03/2008, -1/+45drjenk, you really need to pay more attention when you watch a debate. Sarah Palin even addressed this herself in saying: "And I may not answer the questions that either the moderator or you want to hear..."
So, here are at least two examples, just plucked from the transcript:
IFILL: Governor, please if you want to respond to what he said about Sen. McCain's comments about health care?
PALIN: I would like to respond about the tax increases...
Also:
Biden:...Gwen, the governor did not answer the question about deregulation, did not answer the question of defending John McCain about not going along with the deregulation, letting Wall Street run wild. He did support deregulation almost across the board. That's why we got into so much trouble.
IFILL: Would you like to have an opportunity to answer that before we move on?
PALIN: I'm still on the tax thing because I want to correct you on that again. And I want to let you know what I did as a mayor and as a governor. And I may not answer the questions that either the moderator or you want to hear, - StrangeFamous, on 10/03/2008, -5/+49If McCain loses the election, Palin will just go back to Alaska with her family and resume her regular life. She's not a bad person by any means, as long as she doesn't get elected. She's just out of her element.
Women like Ann Coulter, however, make my blood boil.
Vote against Palin.
