- Rustik, on 10/11/2007, -2/+65I know I'm not a common digger, but I'm not a spammer. I just thought this was important. =[
- RonPaulRevolter, on 10/11/2007, -3/+57Come on diggers, show your support by calling Edward Failure at 563-288-3600 or 877-913-3600 and demand that he invites Ron Paul.
- RobRobRob, on 10/11/2007, -1/+49Love him or hate him - you have to admit that Ron Paul is one of the most anti-tax politicians around. Why would an organization called Iowans for Tax Relief not want him? Perhaps Iowans for Tax Relief does not really care so much about lowering taxes.
- conley, on 10/11/2007, -1/+42just got the email from the campaign, this is absurd given that Ron Paul has never voted for a tax increase.
- Larofeticus, on 10/11/2007, -0/+37I normally don't like the "Ron Paul Spam" on digg, even though I support him. But this is an extreme case.
An organization having a political event, but excluding a completely valid candidate without giving reason or having reason to is completely unacceptable.
They are even including candidates which poll lower than him, and have raised less money. And ron pauls views more closely align with both a lower taxes organization and a christian organization.
Even if you are a person who doesn't support ron paul, this is obviously wrong; he should be given a chance to voice his opinion (whether you agree with him or not) and let his ideas stand or fail by their own merit in open forum. Political censorship is wrong. - SwordOfShannara, on 10/11/2007, -0/+37I called and emailed. I was able to leave a message. We need to organize a protest at the event. Everyone who attends needs to know these organizations are taking away their right to choice as voters. AND when they find out Ron Paul wants to eliminate the IRS and wasn't included at an event discussing taxes.. you might just end up with two member less and soon to be bankrupt organizations. btw I made a cool Ron Paul wallpaper if you like- http://www.freemp3mail.com/RonPaulBlimp.cfm
- mrdeadlier, on 10/11/2007, -1/+36This dude's my hero. Such a refreshing change from the typical Presidential candidate, obviously not refreshing enough for the ITR and ICA.
- remaxjon, on 10/11/2007, -0/+32Even if you don't like Paul you have to see this is *****. Digg this story the man belongs there
- sockpuppets, on 10/11/2007, -1/+32Edward Failor. He had no choice, he was destined to fail.
- Pontifex, on 10/11/2007, -1/+31Saul Anuzis, chair of the Michigan GOP, tried to bar Ron Paul from future presidential debates recently, but was forced to recant after a torrent of public outrage.
It seems a little strange that an organization called "Iowans for Tax Relief" would bar, without comment, the one candidate who has never voted for a tax increase.
Perhaps Diggers would like to share their concerns with Edward Failor and Iowans for Tax Relief directly using their publicly available contact information:

These are in addition to the ones in the OP. - 15charmaxwtf, on 10/11/2007, -0/+28He is a constitutionalist, as they are all meant to be. Not all republicans are neocons.
- gmason08, on 10/11/2007, -0/+27The reason it has so many DIGGS and has yet to go popular is that it has been buried.
This is very important to many people, I recommend someone resubmit the article without putting Ron Paul in the title or description or it will be buried again by the antiRP bury brigade. A title like: Control Matrix Strikes again or something similar be used. I would do it myself but I am already pegged on Digg. If someone does resubmit link it here so it can go popular before the anti's know what is happening. - jarrodhunt, on 10/11/2007, -1/+28Ron Paul is the only candidate with a unique message that goes back to the core of what the United States stands for.
"A Constitutional Government" that isn't trying to take over the world, one "justifiable" war at a time.
Why is he being excluded even though he happens to be one of the most popular candidates on the internet? MSNBC had over 100,000 internet votes cast and Ron stood out from the pack as having the most favorable votes and the least unfavorable ones. MSNBC also has some pretty good anti-fraud capabilities. http://www.jarrodhunt.com/ron-paul-dominates-msnbc-debate-polling/
Some say that he is spamming the internet polls. Come-on Really? Isn't it possible that his message happens to be one that the average internet user can appreciate? Have you heard his message?
If not check it out at freeme.tv its good stuff.
Go Ron! - wwallace, on 10/11/2007, -1/+28I dig this issue enough to contact the ITR and ICA. Ron Paul's position on tax is the BEST in the field!
- FluffyUnbound, on 10/11/2007, -0/+27The obvious problem here is that these groups are being disingenuous in using the names that they do.
If they were concerned about Tax Relief in the least, they'd like Paul well enough.
It's obvious that what's happening here is that some douchebag in these organizations is so militantly pro-war that he no longer cares about Tax Relief.
This is just one more example of the way in which the deep, deep sickness that now pervades the Republican party and the conservative movement has created a situation where the only issue that matters any more is the war [with a side of torture]. Oppose the war, and your other positions don't matter - you're no longer acceptable. Oppose the war, and it doesn't matter if you have the best anti-tax record in the Congress - Iowans for Tax Relief doesn't want you.
Why not just change the name of your organization to Iowans for Arab Genocide and be honest about it? - conley, on 10/11/2007, -1/+27just got off the phone with someone from their office. surprising Mr. Failor and all other people who would know anything about the invitations are gone for the day. I asked for an answer about why Ron Paul wasn't invited and was told the message was going to be passed on. But, they didn't ask for a contact number so I made sure to leave one for the secretary and was told I 'may' hear back by Monday.
This is nothing short of pathetic. - Anarchrist, on 10/11/2007, -0/+24Not sure why my whole comment won't post. Here's another try.
It seems a little strange that an organization called "Iowans for Tax Relief"
would bar, without comment, the one candidate who has never voted for a tax increase.
No stranger than the NRA not opposing all the gun laws on the books. If the gun laws were eliminated then the NRA wouldn't have a reason to exist. If taxes were eliminated there would be no need for the Iowans for Tax Relief and they wouldn't be able to generate any contributions from their followers. - Pontifex, on 10/11/2007, -0/+24Elebrio, I am a Republican and I more than give a damn. Even if you don't agree with his entire platform, he has served 10 terms in Congress, always voted according to his public principles, and deserves to be heard in any debate on these issues.
Freedom has nothing to fear from the truth. - shampoovta, on 10/11/2007, -0/+23 I am a Dem. but I have read allot of digg stores about Ron Paul and this is BS. Ill help too with my digg!
- Pontifex, on 10/11/2007, -0/+23I think you've put your finger on it. Likewise, the Iowa Christian Alliance apparently doesn't care much for the Christian values of peace and sanctity of life. If I was a member of these organizations I would be incensed by the bait-and-switch.
- househarkonnen, on 10/11/2007, -0/+22LETS SHOW THEM WHAT WE CAN DO...MR. ANUZIS KNOWS..NOW THESE FOOLS WILL KNOW.
Muahhahahahaha
Revolution! - katerick, on 10/11/2007, -0/+22LOL. The Christian group's line has been busy for about an hour. The few times it does ring, no one picks up. And the tax folks all went home, leaving a secretary to take angry messages. The best part is that they'll all pretend we're just ten unemployed computer geeks--AND that Dr. Paul's campaign is practicing some sort of martian mind control on us so we all move in lockstep. The existence of a whole lot of angry people just doesn't occur to them. It should.
- LinearChaos, on 10/11/2007, -1/+22Rally the troops. It's clobbering time.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+21Someone is really afraid of something. Cowards. The only way Ron Paul will lose the day is if he is not part of the day. Way to go. Stack the deck. I should take you to Las Vegas. We could play the craps.
- rejoice3j, on 10/11/2007, -0/+20I'm on hold now for Iowans for Tax Relief...hopefully that's because so many others are calling to complain!
- LinearChaos, on 10/11/2007, -0/+20I don't think that it is only republicans that are suffering from this deep deep sickness.
I see no candidate on the left besides Kucinich and Gravel willing to change the status quo. Don't be alarmed when Hillary gets into the White House saying one thing then doing something entirely different (against the will of the American people but in the "national interest" e.g. the interests of the war machine, the banks, and the global corporations). Once she gets the power she will probably become consumed by the expanded state and the authoritarian executive powers Bush and his neocons have worked so hard undermining the constitution for.
Pelosi bowing to AIPAC hawks and selling the Democrats up the river after the midterms exposed the establishment's hand. It's too bad for America that the swarms of useful idiots don't pay any attention to politics when making up their mind about who to vote for and think that CFR Obama or Hillary "Police State" Clinton are going to bring anything new to the table or change the status quo. They don't get into those rallies or climb to the top of the ladder because their agendas, regarding entrenched power at least, are fundamentally different.
The only different about the mainstream candidates are the lies they tell when trying to get elected, especially when it comes to wedge issues. - Anarchrist, on 10/11/2007, -0/+20>> It seems a little strange that an organization called "Iowans for Tax Relief" would bar, without comment, the one candidate who has never voted for a tax increase.

Actually, I am afraid both of these organizations, like many, many others are little more than a false trail trap.
People are getting restless about the TAX/Spend and TAX/SPEND more and more scam so toss them a busy box organization to make them think they are doing something for "REFORM".
It is no different with the BIG MEGAPHONE "NEWS" sources for instance, their real purpose has nothing to do with keeping people informed about NEW info, it is to keep peoples heads filled with the info deemed useful to the power structure and to limit access to dangerous truths. - Absinthminded64, on 10/11/2007, -0/+14Use the 877 number. I think it's toll free! : )
- Darel99, on 10/11/2007, -0/+14
Folks although this is nonsense it really should open our eyes and see these organizations for what they really are.
I'm a Christian myself but when the strongest ally of eliminating unjust laws against Christians and other religious groups and the strongest opponent of taxes and he is bared from both requests I simply call this insane.
Just the other day Joseph Farah lied about Ron Paul's stand against Amnesty yet he has not retracted his comments.
It's real easy to see where peoples hearts are when they try to bar Ron Paul a true champion of all things good.
If your like me you are ashamed of fake groups and fake people.
Our action plan should be as follows:
1) Send a notice to all your e-mail buddies and have them digg this story to the top of digg. (Sure this is a ron paul issue but it goes much farther then this issue it's about censorhip. So go find all your independent buddies and Oboma friends who man not vote for Paul but point out what the real America is all about right now. It's about censorship on many levels.
2) Sign this petition:
http://www.petitiononline.com/rp063007/petition.html
3) First thing in the morning and all day long on Wednesday simply call and voice your concerns with a positive tone. E-mail the same issues but be nice and professional even though we we may want to tell them what we really think. We really don't have to offer a hard sell because Paul's record says it all.
Just tell them this: "Washington, DC: Congressman Ron Paul has been recognized as a top advocate for taxpayers in the US Congress for the tenth year in a row, earning the nonpartisan National Taxpayers Unions annual award as a “Taxpayers’ Friend” for 2006. Only 30 of 435 members in the U.S. House of Representatives earned similar honors last year."
In closing the leaders of both groups should be ashamed of themselves for censorship. As for me I'm already ashamed of my party for trying to keep Paul from future debates.
I would suggest if we love liberty and freedom we must follow the 3-steps and I believe we will see a change. Paul, will without a doubt dwarf anyone with such topics.... The bottom line is Paul is a real threat and they are scared as hell to oppose Paul.

Iowans Against Tax Relief
Posted by Thomas Woods at June 19, 2007 03:33 PM
Well, well, well. It turns out that Edward Failor, executive VP of Iowans for "Tax Relief" and who refuses to allow Ron Paul to take part in his candidates' forum, is a fan of...GEORGE PATAKI! Does it get more hilarious than this?
I like this part, from the New York Sun: "Mr. Pataki could be a hard sell to small-government conservatives, given that state spending in New York has grown to a projected $75 billion in the coming fiscal year from $43 billion in 1995. Mr. Failor said the increases were the necessary result of growth brought on by aggressive tax cuts." Oh.
http://www.nysun.com/article/40382?page_no=1 - CBound, on 10/11/2007, -0/+14Let us keep in mind that we should keep our calls and emails civil and refrain from saying anything nasty. I believe the more unpleasant the communication the more likely these organizations will keep resisting the inclusion of Dr. Paul in their meetings. We must leave a good impression with those that we hope to win over.
This in not to say that we must not get mad over such apparent snobbish behavior on their part, but we can be mad and civil at the same time. I say all this as a reminder. I don't see too much in the posts above to indicate that our communications have been overly nasty, just the possibility that some have been. We should also keep in mind these are private organizations and have the right to keep out whomever they please. - LeFou, on 10/11/2007, -0/+13As per my note above, they will ignore you.
