- drobinson, on 10/10/2007, -9/+114Remember loyal Democrats, none of this is enough to impeach these bastards, right? We'll fix it in November, right? After how many more people die because of the lies and corruption you Dems now want to ride to the White House? It used to be if you're not outraged, you're not paying attention. Now outrage is old news to so many "progressives". All these people need to thrown out of office and tried for war crimes. Bastards.

and elect Ron Paul president to restore the Constitution - daveyd, on 10/10/2007, -4/+44This just adds salt to the wound of how we were lied to in the beginning on this mess of a "war". If we can't do the job right for the sake of the kids fighting over there than get out.
- Bricks, on 10/10/2007, -1/+36I didnt realize til the end of the article that my jaw was agape.. and had been the whole read.. and then that were actually 8 more pages of ball-crushing information to wade through. Reading the specifics about what this country has pulled off is heartbreaking.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+32Isn't profiteering by taking the money but failing to deliver, an act of treason during wartime? Because by doing nothing or wasting precious resources, you're hurting the war effort and making the country less secure. And if Bush protects these profiteers who undercut our troops, then he's aiding and abetting treason. After Bush is out of office, maybe the long arm of justice needs to visit the worst of the Iraq profiteers.
- xXRUSHXx, on 10/10/2007, -2/+31Well all i hear is a lot of bitching and no action. Get organized and do something about it, take to the streets and spread the message. I am part of a meet up group, that's the least you guys can do.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -10/+37And bush wanted to privatize social security OHMYGAWD that man is crazy
- KhanneaSuntzu, on 10/10/2007, -1/+23The netherlands will willingly take them all off your hands and try them in the international court. There have been quite some severe violations, I am sure many, *many* managers and executives and CEO's can be locked up for decades.
Oh yes, and Bush, his cronies and the several thousand collaborators around him. Lock them all up. - Or worse. Treason still punishable by death over there, right? - pxa270, on 10/10/2007, -2/+23I read that Bush has already spent something like 500 billion on this mess, and is still asking for billions more. And then I thought, couldn't he have just put a 1 billion dollar prize on Saddam's and his lackeys heads, and donate 99 billion to the country to form a new government and set up elections. No need for occupations, blowing up stuff and rebuilding them, only to see them blown up again, etc. It seems to me that would have been a much cheaper and more effective way to turn get a stable and working democracy in place, and everybody would have been better off, except for the private contractors.
- thefirstenemy, on 10/10/2007, -21/+42Please just stop bringing up Ron Paul in every ***** article.
- d1a1s1, on 10/10/2007, -3/+22I'm completely sick of it all. Its time to put up or shut up. Its amazing how Diggers can get behind something like sending the Spice Girls to Baghdad for their concert...why don't we apply that same force to something a little more useful. We ALL know this administration is anally raping this country! I really don't even need to hear or see anymore posts like this one to know this. We know whats wrong...what do we do to fix it?!! The most I can do is try to vote for the best possible candidate in 08, is there nothing more I can do?!
- ubuntuedgy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+19Yeah, it really is going to be tough for our country to get it's reputation back after this last presidency. God forbid we get someone like Romney or Guiliani for 8 years. I swear, if I had the money I may do the opposite of what my European ancestors did...go back to where they came from.
- Waiting2awake, on 10/10/2007, -0/+17I mean absolutely no offense - but why not do what your other forefathers did.. Fight for it?
That is your country as much, if not more, than those corp's. - zyklon, on 10/10/2007, -2/+18Don't forget that Haliburton has been poisoning soldiers and civilians for the past few years by not chlorinating the water they're in charge of. I think that's an important thing.
- ubuntuedgy, on 10/10/2007, -7/+22I dugg you both up. I love Ron Paul, but I don't think many of his views are inline with the 21st century. He is radical because he actually sticks to the Constitution, but he fails to recognize that this isn't the 1800's. We have people without medical insurance. Unacceptable in the USA. Two people can't get married because of their sex!? If you want to always point to the Bill of Rights, then let's show some equality. Gay marriage should be federally protected. It is a civil rights issue. Ron Paul is a good man, but he is not the answer to everything. Sorry. Maybe make him Sec. Def.? Sec. of State? Not president though. I used to think so, but many of our worst problems (protecting our citizens) would not be addressed under Ron Paul.
- Matthew720, on 10/10/2007, -3/+17There's a great documentary on DVD called "Iraq for Sale". It's a compelling film to watch. You can get it on eBay or Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Iraq-Sale-Profiteers-Bill-Peterson/dp/B000HWXOT0/outfoxed-20
- nysus, on 10/10/2007, -2/+16Someone needs to produce a 3 min. YouTube video from this article so even the 30% of the idiots supporting can understand what a ***** up Bush and the Republicans are.
- Matthew720, on 10/10/2007, -1/+14@Armybn1
You're either gullible or a liar at heart, take your pick. Most of those 500 billion went to contractors like Halliburton, KBR, Blackwater etc.. The Iraqi government saw a fraction of all that money. Where do you get off trying to pass Bill O'reilly propaganda as FACT?
Watch "Iraq for Sale" on DVD. I saw it at a screening at my college. After you watch it, come back and tell us what you've learned. - Obscenewords, on 10/10/2007, -2/+14Just say restore the constitution.
- ProgressBar, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12thousand-dollar screw? We're all getting a multi-billion dollar screw! With no funding for lube...
- GRANDPAMUNSTER, on 06/11/2009, -1/+13A government for and by the people is done. It is now for and by the CORPORATION!!!!!!!!!
We better really think about who we vote for in'08' - Matthew720, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13The usual suspect? Can you back up that claim? What kind of "rebuilding" did the U.S. do in Yugoslavia?
While military contracts have been the norm since WWI, NONE, (I repeat) NONE come close to the same MASSIVE scale to what is going on in Iraq right now. All the money the taxpayer is giving the government right now is going to the pockets of contractors and big oil. That includes Halliburton. And, while WWII and Yugoslavia had relatively positive outcomes for Europe and the world(Defeating the Nazis etc.), the current cluster ***** in Iraq is anything BUT. Iraq has become a money pit where taxpayers throw their dollars in and the contractors pick it all up and stuff in their pockets. Neither the soldiers, nor the Iraqis are benefiting from it. - Matthew720, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13Nice sweeping generalizations. A toilet seat is not a tank. Toilet seats comply with many UL standards as it is and claiming the military is paying $2000 for a Mil-Spec toilet seat is ridiculous. Why don't you post some examples of certain items, back up your assertion with facts and evidence from reliable sources? Then we can talk.
Where's that article about the 2 cent washers that cost the taxpayer more than $90,000? Can someone post a link? - buglord, on 10/10/2007, -2/+14Dugg up for "...Karl Marx and Adam Smith can blow each other in a Middle Eastern glory hole" :D
- Herolint, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11The insurance industry is what is driving up medical costs and making it hard for people to get good medical attention. Growing up, my family never had medical insurance, however, when we went to the doctor, the doctor actually spent time with us and did something to make us better. What happens nowadays? You go to the doctor, they diagnose you before they ever enter the room, and usually, you end up coming back sometime next week for a test, or get referred to somebody else. You just plopped down a $20.00 co-payment plus whatever your insurance company just paid for what? Absolutely nothing. It is bad now, and you think adding the federal government to the mix is going to make it better?
I lived in Japan for many years. It is different now, but back in the 80s and 90s, you could go to the doctor for free anytime you wanted to. So, that's exactly what everybody did. Waiting 8 hours in a waiting room the size of an airliner hangar for a doctor to glance your way so he can prescribe something mildly more potent than a placebo isn't health care either.
I agree that our system is broken, but your solution to nuzzle the breast of the federal government is basically picking up the shards of a broken system and smashing them all again for good measure. - Zbrah, on 10/10/2007, -2/+12This is egregious!!!
/Sorry just wanted to use the "word of the day"/ - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11I've always known this was just another "War for Profit" scheme. Yet another episode of having our children die on the iron cross that Ike warned us about.
- MegatonSamurai, on 10/10/2007, -2/+12Don't forget about Kucinich, he wants out of Iraq too. He also doesn't want to wait to be president to do it either, he's working on it right now: http://youtube.com/watch?v=ymImkZOrt00
- speerross, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10Anally raping the country?! Anally raping the world more like. Organise and revolutionise. Find like minded individuals, broaden your horizons, spread the message and be ready to fight when the time is right. The revolution will come, be prepared to give your all to it.
- fuzzmeister, on 10/10/2007, -2/+12No, Ron Paul is _not_ the only answer, he just is to you.
- spawnfree, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11this is why, in england, we call ***** workmen 'cowboys'
- frankidadio, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10....and it aint over yet folks.....
- spawnfree, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11you will have the chance to vote in any of the candidates that have been groomed and indoctrinated by a system that was set up and financed by the wealthy organizations that profit from their little progenies.
the mandate of the organizations dictates a huge part of the candidates beliefs and therefore actions.
In other words, the system runs for the benefit of private corporate interests, and they are insatiably hungry for more profit. - PaulBleidl, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10It is not that THEY lie and waste money it is that WE don’t care. (outside of a few diggers) as long as the economy is humming along and we have credit cards to buy Ipods or whatever we will let the government do whatever it wants.
- quaxon, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11i dont know if this was mentioned in the article or not (it's, late right now, i'll read it tommorrow) but one great example of how how low the contracters have gone is the fact that many of them make products such as cargo trucks and other vehicles with faults in them and the generals order the soldiers who are operation the vehicles to burn them if they have the slightest problem like a flat tire or if they just need a new spark plug. they then buy new ones at an outragous cost, rinse, and repeat.
- Waiting2awake, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11It isn't about the actual "rebuilding", it is the relationship that exists between these corporations and the government. Those relationships exists whether there is a Republican or Democrat - because the corporations don't care who does what they want, as long as someone does - and thankfully all politicians regardless of their flag - are power-hungry greed machines.
So it works out well regardless of who is in office - or maybe it is them that make sure who goes into the office in the first place? Either way, historically, it hasn't mattered which guy is in the WH - corruption avails...
Or at least that is what I have noticed from watching Politics since Carter. - boran, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9Ok then, come with some proof that disproves some of his more factual claims. About the hospital for instance.
- uu2b, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9For the retarded posters who can't seem to believe that any of this *ever* could happen, and since they didn't see it on FOX news...
Seriously, why don't you "supporters" read? Do you just enjoy being stupid? Here's links to the FACTS you think could be untrue. Unfortunately, it's ***** like you who are running this country into the ground, who think being smart or reading is for the "Liberal Elite". I think you should all apologize for posting your dumb ***** comments without even bothering to research anything for yourselves and actively trying to find the truth. I picked various sources so that you can't claim their from "leftist" websites.

- Waiting2awake, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Are you sure you want to know? You won't like it.
You will have to stop working. Tell the government to go ***** itself and to get out of your country. Then the Government will come down and crush your skull and the skulls of your children. If you are lucky, others will stand up for you and they will in turn get mowed down, repeat as necessary until a critical mass is hit and the majority of Americans realize that they are ***** and fight back - only to get mowed down - and then those same countries that Americans have taken such joy in mocking - filled with people Americans have called cowards, terrorists sympathizers, etc, etc, etc will come to your aid with at least guns that can keep up with your Governments...
Or maybe Bush will kindly step down when his term is over....

Dems would do the same; the world is run by corporations.
corporations operate like psychopathic humans (while being run by 'good' people)
The world is run by an invested interest in draining its wealth. Not nurturing it.
If you think nurturing is for pussies then you are part of the problem. - feckineejit, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7And using depleted uranium in armor.
- jevaun, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6You know, I think I literally HATE these corrupt, poisonous *****. They're destroying not only Iraq, but this country too. But I think a spineless, lazy, uninformed populace certainly has to take its fair share of the blame too. GET OFF YOUR ***** ASSES AND DO SOMETHING. It doesn't even have to be huge. Go call your congressman for starters and threaten to remove them from their cushy jobs unless some serious action is taken.
http://www.congress.org/congressorg/directory/congdir.tt?command=congdir - theNazz, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6More Iraqis are dead under Bush than Saddam. Saddam was executed for his war crimes, so let's play fair and treat Bush and Cheney to the same fate!
- inblue, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7very scary what's happening and will continue to be happening for many more years. it seems hopeless, but something has to change for the better.
you guys should check out the documentary No End In Sight, which is very parallel to this read. - firstprimate, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7From the article:-
Standing before Congress, contractors and the officials who are supposed to monitor them say things like "As long as we have the undefinitized contract issue that we have ... we will continue to see the same kinds of sustension rates" (translation: We can't get back any of the ***** money) and "The need for to-fitnessization was viewed as voluntary, and that was inaccurate as the general counsel to the Army observed in a June opinion" (translation: The contractor wasn't aware that he was required to keep costs down) and "If we don't know where we're trying to go and don't have measures, then we won't know how much longer it's going to take us to get there" (translation: There never was a plan in place, other than to let contractors rip off every dollar they could).
