- lpmiller, on 03/12/2008, -2/+81I can't even imagine what 4300 bucks would get me from a hooker. For that kind of money, I better orgasm so hard I forget my own name.
- devilbody, on 03/12/2008, -2/+33I totally ***** myself submitting that comment to the wrong article.
- devilbody, on 03/12/2008, -4/+28Inaccurate. http://www.ssb2.net/users/4366/valentines_102.jpg
- dominikkom, on 03/12/2008, -1/+20Why is the kid grabbing Superman's boobs?!?!
- VTCastle, on 03/12/2008, -1/+17The NYSE floor traders were saying the best buy in town was any local Champagne dealer within a 10 block radius of Wall Street when this news was released.
- Froggy3262, on 03/12/2008, -1/+15What goes around comes around. I bet Wall St is dancing in the streets on this one.
- TekTrixter, on 03/12/2008, -0/+14I don't even _want_ to know what article that comment was supposed to go with...
- ennTOXX, on 03/12/2008, -1/+13Awesome, where am I??? :||
- woohhaa, on 03/12/2008, -0/+8His wife aint half bad lookin wonder why he had to go outside their marriage and totally ***** his career.
- cmccool, on 03/12/2008, -0/+7haha, that superman pillow is really freaky...you know the one with its mouth open.
- ladbroke, on 03/12/2008, -1/+7Probably because so much of his legitimacy was based on going after bad people, like, um, the prostitution ring he busted as Attorney General. How can you not be disillusioned about things like this?
- davidlow, on 03/12/2008, -0/+6...and where's my money???
- veronicaromm, on 03/12/2008, -0/+6You know it, the market was up, nothing better than a prostitution ring for business.
- brundlefly76, on 03/12/2008, -0/+5Yeah $4300 buys you a healthy, beautiful. young, personable girl who only has to have one date a month with the men of her choosing so she can pay her way through college, then shes done. Hell she could get through the 4 years with just Spitzer as a client.
$200 gets you a 37-year-old butterface drug addict where you are just a stepping stone closer to tonight's eight-ball.
I *really* want to see a picture of this chick Kristen. - fxu1989, on 03/12/2008, -0/+5http://digg.com/odd_stuff/Superman_Loves_Children_ ...
- MuttleyLaugh, on 03/12/2008, -0/+5When I saw her next to him at the press conference my first thought was "Boy, Jennier Aniston's really let herself go."
- trogdor282, on 03/12/2008, -0/+5He got caught cuz he was structuring the money not cuz the hooker snitched. Ordinarily clean discrete and hot IS what you would pay that much for.
- Ouchimoo, on 03/12/2008, -1/+5That has got to be the funniest "whoops wrong window" I have ever seen!
- goonsquad3, on 03/12/2008, -0/+4He was a damn good Attorney General. He was a pretty crappy governor by most any measure, though.
- camionmorto, on 03/12/2008, -1/+5He's a (D) and we're all screaming that; what's your point?
- themadrammer, on 08/18/2009, -5/+9I'm thinking $4300 buys you a lot of discretion, and a clean girl. Meh, who knows.
- FTLJohnson, on 03/12/2008, -1/+5Really? Discretion? Does he get his money back then? I think the answer to your question was, not you.
- lyderaly, on 03/12/2008, -0/+4No moral outrage here............but don't forget the money laundering. You can not break the law in this way and get to stay in power. The irony of this situation is a thing of beauty.
- SpaceMonkeyZero, on 03/12/2008, -0/+4As state attorney general this guy PROSECUTED prostitution rings, especially high end ones. The guy that ran NY Confidential was busted by Spitzer and on Howard Stern this morning.
Makes me wonder how many prostitution rings were under investigation that just offered up Eliot some "GFE On the House" and their charges went away. 6 years and $80 grand on this ONE hooker store is just the tip of the iceberg.
Now, if he had just had a mistress all this time, no big deal. Who cares. But considering he made it his pre-governorship JOB to bust these sorts of practices makes him one big hypocrite. - wissler, on 03/12/2008, -0/+4You must not be aware of the fact that he viciously pursued people who engaged in this sort of thing. This is justice. Normally you are right--it's just two consenting people and who cares. But in this case it's justice.
- inkyblue2, on 03/12/2008, -0/+4...nice assumption. :P
- fgsfds, on 03/12/2008, -1/+5The difference being that democrats don't run on a platform of moral righteousness. He didn't betray his voters by participating in the exact thing he claimed to oppose.
Also, as far as anybody can tell he kept business and pleasure separate. That means that while it IS an ethics violation, it's not corruption. (That's why I'm burying the cartoon as inaccurate, by the by.)
He's still a dick, he should have never have done it, and he probably should resign. However, you can't just ignore the context when making your arguments. - SpaceMonkeyZero, on 03/12/2008, -0/+3Insider Trading! Spitzer would have them locked up!
- nirav72, on 03/12/2008, -0/+3He got caught or a red flag was initially raised when an AML Anti-money laundering software flagged some of his transactions. They looked mighty suspicious. Here a writeup on how it was done.
http://blogs.zdnet.com/projectfailures/?p=643 - charlietuna, on 03/12/2008, -0/+3The NSA can retail those tapes an sell them as phone sex of the rich and famous. Or the formerly rich and famous at least.
- jj101, on 03/12/2008, -0/+3Nothing like timing.
- charlietuna, on 03/12/2008, -0/+3I have a natural hatred of D'Amato, but he is the quintessential street smart politico, and on NY1 the other night he nailed it, talking about how these things get out whether it is intentionally or otherwise. My respect for D'Amato went up significantly, but usually the retired politicians are able to behave in a more civil manner. Spitzer should step out ASAP. Talk about ego, it's now patently obvious that his career was only about his ambition and ego - not on any refined sense of justice.
- charlietuna, on 03/12/2008, -0/+3Paying with taxpayer money is not merely immoral. It is criminal.
- diggduggjoe, on 03/12/2008, -0/+3You are assuming she put out. Most career minded women are too tired to do anything but lay there. I am sure the high price sex was far more exciting. If, prostitution was legal, more marriages would survive. An honest wife who knows her sex drive is an order of magnitude lower than her mates should prefer a clean hired woman than some skank from the bar. Or, worse someone he falls in love with and dumps her for.
- woohhaa, on 03/12/2008, -0/+3Or maybe he just wanted some strange.
- charlietuna, on 03/12/2008, -0/+3Hey, in these circles it's all about money and power. He may have cried and promised her the house in Newport. the look on her face was priceless, and to me it was a look of abandonment. She's a lawyer too, she knows this strengthens her position in a divorce proceeding. He's toast.
- Netmonger, on 03/12/2008, -0/+2While I completely agree with his resignation, its important to state that there is no evidence at this time he was doing anything else other that spending his *own* $$ on hookers. There is no evidence at this time he was using taxpayer $$ for this purpose.
- inactive, on 03/12/2008, -0/+2"There are two things that can make a man fail: alcohol and womens". - My father.
- xGORDOx, on 03/12/2008, -3/+5If he was a (R), you all would be screaming about hypocrisy and corruption.
Too funny. - fgsfds, on 03/12/2008, -0/+2Many affairs result from a feeling of impotence at home. It could be that his home life makes him feel small and powerless, and he tried to improve his self-image with a romantic/domestic situation where he was the one in control.
TL;DR? Maybe she wears the pants and he doesn't like that. - brundlefly76, on 03/12/2008, -0/+2Holy crap here's her picture - PageSix broke it!
http://www.pagesix.com/story/spitzer+s+hooker+reve ... - SpaceMonkeyZero, on 03/12/2008, -0/+2Exactly. If it was just a mistress, this would be a non-story to anyone but his wife and kids.
- inactive, on 03/12/2008, -0/+2I am convinced that he was doing just what you say. Either that or working for The Mob, knocking off their competition in exchange for money/services.
- charlietuna, on 03/12/2008, -0/+2Word my friend.. word
- lebruf, on 03/12/2008, -0/+2The overwhelming sense of "gotcha bitch" I'm getting from all the Wall St. commentators on CNBC supports your theory.
- inactive, on 03/12/2008, -0/+2A genuine question: Why Wall St. hate him so much?
- rholland356, on 03/12/2008, -0/+2Given that Spitzer is very wealthy, why would he pay with taxpayer dollars? Did he? I don't know that and you don't know that he did.
