- alapoet, on 07/23/2008, -49/+187All I can figure is, those who vote for the GOP enjoy the challenge of trying to make ends meet in a trashed economy, and maybe the "thrill" of watching an "interesting" newscast about more people being blown up in Iraq.
I know who I won't be voting for. - crxvfr, on 07/23/2008, -90/+224THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE!
Same end game.
They are all puppets to the New World Order, which is basically a bunch of CEO's from huge corporations.
Distract, confuse, divide and conquer by stealth.
While everybody is arguing about things like second hand smoke, illegal immigration, Brittany Spears and Paris Hilton, they are stealing the country right out from under us. - inactive, on 07/24/2008, -70/+161You people better wake up, there is no difference between Dems or Repubs. You think Obama will change things, you just as big of fools as those who believed Bush was going to bring a smaller Government and no nation building. They all run on what you want to hear and then do the opposite, for crying out loud how short are your memories. Obama just voted for the FISA bill and helped make spying on Americans legal, is this a man of change or more of the same.
Obama proposed a youth stasi to watch over everyone else. Just as well funded and powerful as the Army is. Doesn't this remind you of Hitlers brownshirts, why is this massive grid of control being created on top of you, do you question anything? He is controlled by the Trilateral commission with Brzezinski as his advisor, council on foreign relations with his wife on the Chicago board, the skull and bones (yes just like Bush) with Mark Goolsbee another advisor, and he also visited the Bildeberger meeting this year. Oh I'm sure he will bring tons of change, you stupid people need to take your blinders off and grow up, turn off your TV and stop living in fantasy land. - inactive, on 07/24/2008, -48/+115YOU KNOW WHAT'S FUNNY? THE DEMOCRATS HAVE ALL THE SAME POLICIES AS THE REPUBLICANS! JOKE'S ON YOU AMERICA.
- garths, on 07/24/2008, -5/+57"It is impossible to imagine a bigger mess."
You don't have a very good imagination. - inactive, on 07/24/2008, -15/+57The biggest threat are the corporations. they control both parties. they dumb us down with mindless entertainment. they control the food industry and poison us with their processed foods.
- TopherT, on 07/24/2008, -6/+46The second amendment seems to be the only part of the bill of rights they have any respect at all for.
- JagPop, on 07/23/2008, -26/+64Obama?
98 senators expressed their opinion on giving Bush the authority to attack Iran vis-a-vis the Kyl-Lieberman amendment. Obama showed his leadership by hiding under desk. He did not even vote. - CkMaverick, on 07/24/2008, -3/+41And here I was thinking it was bears...
- kcapxis, on 07/24/2008, -22/+57The threat is not the GOP, but political parties in general. It basically works like this:
If you vote for a candidate who belongs to one of the two major political parties then you are committing your nation to suffering without any regard whatsoever to the men and women who put everything on the line to do the right thing when their time came, because there is a 100% chance that your candidate will not when his or her name is called. Political parties, and every single individual who belongs to one or works on behalf of one, are an absolute embarrassment to the ideas of liberty and freedom.
Putting the interest of a well-funded "club" before the interests of the people, from whom all government powers are actually derived, is the least American action an individual can take, and anyone considering doing so should seriously reconsider voting. If you put your mark next to a Republican or a Democrat, then you are the reason we are where we are. I don't mind you killing yourself, but your ignorance is going to get me killed too, unless you somehow come to realize that you are working directly on behalf of the one political invention designed specifically to ***** you.
And yes, I'm talking to you Obama people out there too. - LimeParrot, on 07/24/2008, -10/+43The only American politician who had the balls to make amends in American foreign policy was Ron Paul.
- biotch, on 07/24/2008, -8/+40Im sorry patpl but the bailout vote and the 2nd amendment advocating doesnt even begin to make up for this mess. The Dems in congress have been vetoed at just about every major policy issue in the past 1.5 years of congressional majority. The major policies this country has faced have remained static from when Bush took power to now.
Funny how republicans blame Reagan and Bush sr. for Clinton's success in the 90s after Clinton abolished trickle down economics, but somehow once the dems take over congress 1.5 years ago, they have this immediate effect on the already crashing economy even though they have been blocked from passing the vast majority of their policy changing bills. - cambob76, on 07/24/2008, -7/+36Stupid is as Stupid votes for.
- niczar, on 07/24/2008, -8/+36Guess who trashed the 4th amendment? The GOP. Guess who's too stupid to comprehend that the 4th amendment is much more important than the 2nd? That would be you and your ilk, apparently.
And why is it much more important? Because you're not going to use your guns against the government unless you have a death wish (remember Waco, TX?), while a lot of people could use a 4th amendment to actually defend their right to privacy in court.
But who am I to talk, I'm just a member of the reality-based community. - Berkana, on 07/24/2008, -5/+32Note that the author is Paul Craig Roberts:
Quote:
Paul Craig Roberts was Assistant Secretary of the Treasury in the Reagan administration. He was Associate Editor of the Wall Street Journal editorial page and Contributing Editor of National Review. - futureb, on 07/24/2008, -9/+36I've had at least 3 people make jokes about Obama that mention the word "communism" and "socialism" in the past week. I think people really need to take a step back and evaluate where we are and where we've come over the past 30 years. Check out the series in the NY Times last weekend on debt. It really pulls stuff together. It's not the 80s anymore. The old fight is over, the Right won, and they created the economy and society that we have…a society where benefits are privatized to a privileged few (CEOs, hedge fund managers, i-bankers) and losses are socialized to an unprivileged majority (consumers, taxpayers). I could cite any number of examples of this, starting with Bear Stearns & Fannie Mae, but the worst example is the Bankruptcy bill of 2005. The current problem even for those in the RIght is that we don't even have an economy of deregulation where they can blame bad individual decisions; we have an economic oligarchy actually encouraged and protected by bad regulation. In light of the name calling, one would think that the Left is advocating some sort of economic revolution. Get over it people. Enlightened 'socialist' regulation at this point would do things like ensure that nobody goes bankrupt because they had an emergency surgery, which is pretty much an accepted fact in the Western world. Or it would protect shareholders from all dirty tricks i-bankers & hedge funds are into (naked short selling, mili-second computerized trades, etc). Or it would stop printing money to save those i-banks and start investing money in infrastructure. These are all basic things the Left can do in power. But the main thing the Left can do is to invalidate the market-based view of everything, where selfishness and speculation are rewarded at the expense of the working class.
- onyxcoltrane, on 07/23/2008, -33/+56That sums it up pretty well...
- richiewrt, on 07/24/2008, -2/+24Damn you crxvfr, I hadn't seen or read the name paris hilton in like 4-5 months and was beginning to think she had dropped off the face of the planet.
- inactive, on 07/24/2008, -10/+32Yes, the Republicans are to blame for that war that Democrats and Republicans alike voted for. The Republicans are to blame for the expansive powers of Homeland Security that both Republicans and Democrats voted for. Obama's FISA vote doesn't mean he won't stand up for you. Drink that Kool-Aid. Gulp it down now.
I know it's tempting to believe that everything will change if you just get rid of the Republicans because you want to imagine that someone has your back. Nobody has your back. - ordig, on 07/24/2008, -3/+24Social issues give the illusion that the parties are different. But as far as foreign policy and the economy are concerned, the parties are essentially the same.
- paraforce, on 07/24/2008, -6/+27Sometimes I get so depressed about politics in this country that I want to pack up all my stuff and go live off the grid.
- V3NOM, on 07/24/2008, -7/+28I'll get buried for this, but I'm not pessimistic enough to believe that just about everyone out there is corrupt enough to carry out the will of the few rich CEOs that want to rule the world. I know that it is already happening, but I think we've yet to pass that point of no return at which every one of our leaders is a dangling puppet of all those CEOs.
Ah hell, look what happened to the Romans. I probably just need to get out more. - biotch, on 07/24/2008, -2/+22Yeah and the other senator that didnt vote was McCain.
"Not Voting - 2
McCain (R-AZ) Obama (D-IL)"

-Howard Dean - chrisvc86, on 07/24/2008, -20/+36Could this guy be anymore right? Good overview of how neocon repubs have ***** us over the past 8 years. ***** makes me angry.
- niczar, on 07/24/2008, -9/+25The repug method:
1. Behave like common criminals
2. When called on it, claim everybody does it
3. You don't win, but the others don't either! - DPolitico, on 07/23/2008, -51/+67Not only are we aware, we're pissed! Why do you think so many of us are backing Obama?
- Bartboy919, on 07/24/2008, -17/+34LOL I AM SO GLAD THEY FOUND A COMMON GROUND ON ABORTION, TAX LAWS, GUN CONTROL, FOREIGN POLICY, GAY MARRIAGE, NET NEUTRALITY, HEALTH CARE AND THE ECONOMY. NOW WE SHOULD JUST MERGE BOTH PARTY AND CALL THEM THE UNITED PARTY OF AMERICA.
/retard - TopherT, on 07/24/2008, -2/+18As much as I share your desire for a united front against those in power who don't hold our collective interests at heart, I'm not sure I want to be united with someone who seems to believe every conspiracy theory he's ever heard.
- vexingmodstwo, on 07/24/2008, -0/+16The only person in recent years trying to get a draft reinstated is Charles Rangel (D-NY).
- hugolp, on 07/24/2008, -13/+28Yes we can... aprove FISA.
Yes we can... invade Iran.
With Obama, Yes we can. - BlackJackJester, on 07/24/2008, -12/+25Your democratic congress isn't helping. Actually, they're hurting quite a bit now with the bail-out money that is being approved. Time to vote the libertarian ticket!
- ProjectGSX, on 07/24/2008, -5/+18Exactly. I dont understand why people don't see this. Obama just backed FISA, which should make things clear enough. He is also folding and supporting Israel.
- fixty, on 07/24/2008, -12/+25"How many Republicans can you name who respect and honor the Constitution? There are Ron Paul, Bob Barr, and who? The ranks of Republican constitutional supporters quickly grow thin. The reason is that Republicans view the Constitution as a coddling device for criminals and terrorists. Republicans think the Constitution can be set aside for evil-doers and kept in place for everyone else. But without the Constitution we only have the government’s word as to who is an evil-doer."
- CoolHandLuke70, on 07/24/2008, -29/+42Folks, get it through you heads that the dems and repubs are both in it for themselves and could care less about you! PERIOD!!! Please understand this because we could get SO MUCH FARTHER in understanding what is going on if we quit argue about what is a game of good cop/bad cop!!
- inactive, on 07/24/2008, -5/+18WHY ARE WE SCREAMING?
O RITE CRUISE CONTROL FTW!!!111 - swrostmore, on 07/24/2008, -2/+14If the last 8 years doesn't represent the GOP, how do you explain the literally hundreds of GOP congressman that acted as a rubber-stamp?
- hwy9nightkid, on 07/24/2008, -5/+17guess who allowed the ***** to happen, the republican congress, and president..
- charm803, on 07/24/2008, -6/+18You mean, that the mess Bush and his goonies created?
- rz8472, on 07/24/2008, -21/+32"I hate the Republicans and everything they stand for."
-Howard Dean - BossKey, on 07/24/2008, -6/+17OK so you're going to propose that Obama could actually do worse than ruin the economy, ruin American prestige worldwide, and both tie up the military and dump billions of taxpayer dollars in two wars?
- krypton70, on 07/24/2008, -14/+25You know where people like you are full of sh-t? You say all that because its easier to "hate on" and say "I told you so" than actually get involved. Obama may not be Christ returned but at least he stands for something. List me all the sh-t Bush and his cronies stand for or McCain stands for. Looks the same? I don't think so. You're the type that goes to see a movie that his friend loves just so you can tell him/her how much you hated it. Get over yourself and try and actually do something and maybe then we'd have a world we can all live in!
- MacBigot, on 07/24/2008, -2/+13Who says fear is exclusively a tactic of the right? In truth, the most recent calls for a draft have come from Democrat Charlie Rangel (NY)…
http://www.nypost.com/seven/02172007/postopinion/o ... - Krisgi, on 07/24/2008, -14/+25It is embarassing for me to be from a family in which the majority of members are HUGE GOP voters/idealogues. Coincidentally, they are the least educated and most conflictive, even violent, of the lot (not to mention the wealthiest). Part of the reason that I have lived in Europe for the last twenty years is that I wanted to get away from that suffocating influence and those distorted social values. I feel much better here. I can breathe.
We have to face the fact that, intellectually and emotionally, the vast majority of Americans are bellicous, ignorant people. I want Obama to win with all of my heart because I feel that this is, somehow, the last chance that we have as a nation. It is a critical turning point. But what I also intue is that most people in the US just don´t make the grade and, therefore, do not merit anything better than the status quo.
If McCain wins, despite the moment, despite himself, and despite the virtues and strength that Obama could potentially instill in a decadent society and thus invert the current dynamics, the American People will have spoken. And that, disgustingly, says a lot about us. In fact, it says everything.
- inactive, on 07/24/2008, -3/+14dual-party system.. only slightly better than a single-party state. Do we need to review single-party states?
- groo68, on 07/24/2008, -4/+14niczar, the 2nd amendment is pretty important, it's original purpose was to help preserve the rest of the bill of rights. It is meant as the people's right to own weapons made to kill people so that the people can challenge the government when democracy fails.
It's not always a death wish, sometimes the person defending themselves with guns believe in "live free or die." - tehcobra, on 07/24/2008, -3/+13Wrong! The greatest threat to America is bears! Terrorist bears doubly so.
- thatsmyaibo, on 07/24/2008, -9/+19If you think Obama will really bring change consider yourself a fool for good marketing. Here is a REAL source. Not Fox, not HuffPost.
