- IrishJoe, on 11/09/2009, -6/+21Ironically his family fought against communism in Vietnam and had to flee the communists to have freedom here in the US. So naturally Republicans are calling him a communist.
- ThsGuyRightHere, on 11/09/2009, -9/+15Why just embrace the crazy when you can have a long term relationship with it? The GOP is welcome to start acting like a viable political party any time now... but if they want to keep marginalizing themselves who am I to get in the way of it.
- novenator, on 11/10/2009, -0/+5Oldhick, you always try to walk the fine line of non-partisanship, but this time you are wrong. Though you are correct that progressive Dems did go after Lieberman, though you have to remember he was STILL given a chairmanship after he spoke at the 2004 GOP convention, actively campaigned for McCain in 2008, and now says he will filibuster health care reform with the obstructionist Republicans if the Dems *dare* put any type of public option in there that might compete with the big corporations. He is still chair, but he works more with the GOP, even in their current ultra-con form.
The conservatives have always been far more intolerant of dissenting voices. Don't you remember the Plame affair? How about David Kay? Look at the voting record of the GOP, it's FAR more united than the Dems. Why do you think that is oldhick?
I know you try to speak from an independent, conservative voice oldhick, but there is no way I'm going to concede that 'both parties are the same' when it comes to this. - BIGOTHER1, on 11/09/2009, -6/+10Poor fellow, who evidently comes from a more civilized way of life than ours.
- tjdmall, on 11/10/2009, -0/+4Lucky New Orleans - got a human in congress
- novenator, on 11/10/2009, -6/+9For anyone who ever says 'both parties are the same', here is your evidence to the contrary. Many progressives are upset with the 39 Democrats who voted against the bill or the 62 Democrats who voted for the anti-choice amendment, but we are not going to take vengeance on those members. Not give them our support yes, but no vicious attacks like the conservatives do to anybody that dares step out of line and not vote with the authoritarian dicks in charge.
- Alheithinn, on 11/11/2009, -0/+3How dare he not be an ignorant White Southerner! What was he thinking? Now the poor man is a heretic like the rest of us. Totalitarianism tolerates no disagreement, as both he and Dede Scazzafova have learned the hard way.
- oldhick, on 11/10/2009, -1/+3Really? So one person on Twitter hurls some slurs his way and "the Right" is now responsible for vicious attacks.
There is still no difference between Dems and Repubs. Dems went after Lieberman, they went after Harry Reid. And while I'm not going to waste time Googling to see if anyone said anything "vicious" about either one (and they did, and you know it), the left ran ads and were trying to unseat them. - NorthMass, on 11/10/2009, -4/+3dumb, his vote was terrible IMO but no worse than all the RINO's who voted for TARP, including a MAJORITY of Republicans in the senate.
- govtdoesnotwork, on 11/10/2009, -4/+3Look at the bright side. His vote is more evidence both parties are largely the same single party.
