- evazan, on 10/12/2007, -3/+32All of those who knew about this and let it continue must be charged as accessories to the crime. If they had any sense of decency they would all resign in shame for not doing anything to stop this.
- Crass22, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18@cquinnd just to jog your memory, From Wikipedia: He introduced a bill in 2002 to outlaw websites featuring sexually suggestive images of preteen children, saying that "these websites are nothing more than a fix for pedophiles."[7] In June 2003 he wrote letters to the governor and attorney general of Florida, asking them to review the legality of a program for teenagers of a Lake Como nudist resort in Land O'Lakes, Florida.[8]
Foley's legislation to change federal sex offender laws was supported by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, America's Most Wanted host John Walsh, and a number of victims' rights groups. President George W. Bush signed it into law as part of the Adam Walsh Child Safety and Protection Act of 2006.

So yeah this pervert deserves to rot in hell, and so do you for trying to weakly defend his actions. - NoahVail, on 10/12/2007, -4/+21They can send thousands of our young men and women to kill in order to make money. What is so surprising about their abuse of pages. The present regime is as corrupt as any in history, all the way back to the time of Nero.
It is time to take back our country. Past time. - DocDEB, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14The point is that the Rep Powers That Be (RPTB) knew well before now what Foley was up to AND did nothing to stop it. As I recall aiding/abetting a crime is a crime. The RPTB seem to have a bigger problem on their hands than Mr. Foley.

What Democrats are you referring to?
Democract or Republican, I think we can all agree that when you start messing around with children like this, you should lose your job. - Shadar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13He got head. That isn't illegal. If you notice I spoke of 2 illegal acts and a third act which is strongly preached against by Christians (homosexuality). The covering up of his blowjob was wrong, but I'd consider someone getting blowjobs outside his marriage to be better than someone picking up young boys/girls.
And as well, I said a Majority. I didn't say all. If you want to pick about my post then actually read it. - Shadar, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16How can republicans even remotely claim the moral high ground? If there is a story about corruption or pedophilia or closet homosexuality it is almost always a republican... it seems like republican in the house & senate are the worst Christians yet they get Christians to vote for them. Are Christians dense or do they simply not have any morals, despite common sense saying they should.
- rlh68, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12naw, but he was working on it... with minors no less.
- Crass22, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Ahhhhh, if it isnt another classic example of "the good ol' boys" complex.
- rlh68, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9/quote/Doesn't matter.....the republican position are still correct.....and dems are still fringe liberals./quote/
Yeah, and my dad can kick your dad's ass... sheesh make a point at least. - hoppdawg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10The full transcription: I hope this guy goes to jail
http://abcnews.go.com/images/WNT/02-02-03b.pdf - DocDEB, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Could this be the "October Surprise" promised by Carl Rove ( http://www.newsmax.com/archives/articles/2006/9/20/141615.shtml )? OMG the Dems have turned him! He's a double agent!
- jellygraph, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Wow, a republican politician being a pedophile.... big surprise
and fellow republicans trying to cover for that and lying about knowing it, another big surprise...
not really, im joking, its one of the few things they are talented at. we all know that...
party of values!!! har har har har - Shadar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7"and dems are still fringe liberals."
Huh? I wish Dems were liberals... I consider myself to be a liberal and I'm proud of it. I have an open mind and am willing to use my brain to solve problems, not 2000 year old dogma. Democrats are less conservative republicans these days and republicans have made liberal a bad word... even though conservatives are the ones who are oppressing people, invading countries without just cause.
I only wish we could have a LIBERAL party in this country, not the sorry excuse for liberals the democrats are. It would be nice if democrats embraced the title and explained how being liberal is a GOOD thing... and being a "compasionate conservative" who erodes civil liberties and causes hundreds of thousands of civilian casualties, and tortures people is a BAD thing. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6WOW, can it get any worst for the Rep?
- dgendreau, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6@bobbknight
The fact is that the Republican leadership has known about his inappropriate behavior since 2005 and he was only forced to resign recently when it was leaked to the public.
The law says that allegations like this HAVE to be reported to and investigated by protective services when they come to light. Instead they too his word for it that he was not being a bad boy and looked the other way so as not to make waves before an election. - rheaume, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I want to see heads roll for this, hopefully all of them
- Crass22, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1983_Congressional_page_sex_scandal
bobbknight is right though and makes a good point, besides the fact that they claim it was sexual relationship between 2 consenting adults. also the republican there got censured too so i dont think its a matter of partisianship. also other representative knew this was going on which is very very wrong. - Urusai, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Irony, n. /irunee/ 1. Rhetorical device often seen on digg.com but seldom recognized.
- federalstreet, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Foley's the only one who got caught! This sort of thing has beeing going on in the Whitehouse for years, if you read the newspapers: http://www.voxfux.com/features/bush_child_sex_coverup/franklin.htm
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4No different than watching a bunch of sheriff's deputies at a golf outing getting crocked with no cabs waiting. They know they're chances of getting arrested if pulled are pretty slim. As my uncle in the secret service says "it's a matter of professional courtesty". Whatever.
- growler1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I think the "October Surprise" is that Karl is gonna find himself a nice beach where they serve drinks with little umbrellas and nobody knows his name, and he's gonna leave his fellow crooks high and dry.
- growler1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4@ NoahVail
Well, I agree with your sentiment, but Nero had virgins swept from the street and presented in his chambers, he forced Senators' wives to participate in orgies and watch as their husbands were killed, walked the streets in diguise at night and slashed the throats of unsuspecting passersby, fell in love with a boy, had him castrated and married him in a mock wedding ceremony...
While I realize that last bit has some tenous relationship to the Foley grossout, I don't think things have gotten quite to the point of Nero.
But he did sing while Rome burnt, so maybe you've still got me there... - gwolf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4If not being a child molesting hypocrite is being on the fringe then call me Mr.liberal.
- volta314, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Now I understand why republicans align themselves so closely with the Catholic church. Sounds like a move right out of the bishop's playbook.
- totorototoro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2jesus christ, Hastert, get your ***** story straight before opening your mouth.
- ShawnHunt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yep... He's pretty much a perv.
- ShawnHunt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It's too bad that this wasn't on Dateline. I'd have like to have seen them set him up!
- rlh68, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2WIth some of the posts people make here you never know. I would have put /irony/ in my comment if it was meant as such.
- HMTKSteve, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1IF the GOP knew about the full extant of this (not just the innocuous emails) then their should be a big shake-up in DC over this.
IF the Democrats knew about the full extant of this (not just the innocuous emails) then their will be a big shake-up in DC over this.
The big question is "Who knew" and from what I am learning it looks like this may back-fire on the democrats as it looks like the left wing fringe cough*Soros*cough may be behind the timing of this... - geekee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Bobbknight is right although both a Democrat and a Republican are guilty of statuatory rape. Neither resigned, and one even got re-elected
http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/09/30/foley.quits/index.html
"The page program, which brings young people from around the country to work on Capitol Hill, came under intense scrutiny in 1983, after two lawmakers -- Rep. Gerry Studds, a Massachusetts Democrat, and Rep. Dan Crane, an Illinois Republican -- were censured following their admission they had consensual sexual relationships with 17-year-old pages.
Neither lawmaker resigned, but Crane was defeated for re-election in 1984. Studds survived the scandal and continued to serve in the House until retiring in 1996." - venir, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I live in Spokane, WA and not too long ago our, now former, Mayor (republican) was caught by the local newspaper in almost the exact same type of behavior. He was caught having sexual IM conversations with underage males just like Foley. After a month of battling to keep his job the city voted to remove him. This is like Deja Vu.
- gwolf, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Nero is a good example of what happens when the leadership is above the law. It happened before and to some extent it’s happening now. We had better do something about it in November before they vote themselves any more dictatorial powers.
- elpayo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1There's a saying that the fastest way to end a career in politics is to get caught with a dead hooker or a live boy.
Is three years 'fast'? - bigturns, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@dgendreau, the timeline of knowledge of Foley's behavior goes back to 2001. 5 years worth of compliance with a suspected sexual predator - the knowledge of which could digg deep into the Republican Party.
- bigturns, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The story on Soros, thus far, is his knowledge goes back just far enough to initiate a private investigation as opposed to the 5 years the Republican leadership was complicit of Foley's illicit and illegal behavior.

http://search.ashtech.info/politics - bigturns, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wait until the threads of knowledge, going back to 2001, are unearthed. This thing couldn't have been held neatly under the hats of a few cover-up artists for nearly 5 long years.
Not to mention the possibility of CP to be found on Foley's PC. Worse? It's getting so fricken hot for the Rep's, my sources tell me Hastert has been stuffed, salted and readied in his roasting pan! - geekee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1You idiots are talking about arresting people? These people didn't even resign for far worse.

Machine manipulated Ohio and Florida aside, the popular vote showed otherwise. What is fringe are the Republicans of my Father. Those men who have been sidelined by the Evangelical Right: hosted by W and his Neo-con thieves. If I were a Republican, not possible due to my protruding frontal lobe, I would cast my vote towards those men who haven't taken money from the Dobson's of the world.
- bigturns, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What's your point? The issue, regardless of the past, is relevant. We, the people, hold the power (exempt Ohio and Florida) to elect our officials. Such decisions should be based on all available information. As opposed to those of you who handed over our country in 2000/2004 to these thugs due to issues like your position on abortion and or gay rights.
- Koopa, on 10/12/2007, -8/+4No need for hyperbole. When you exaggerate like that, it only discredits our side. There are more than enough concrete arguments against this ridiculously incompetent administration without resorting to comparisons like that.
- Urusai, on 10/12/2007, -14/+3Give they guy a break, it's not like he got a blow job, is it? Sheesh.
- RatTrap, on 10/12/2007, -14/+2What is with all this foley crap, ok we get it he is a fag pedo and should be shot!!
- manifestdata, on 10/12/2007, -17/+2Was Bill Clinton a good Christian?

Send dirty e-mail as a Republican, lose your job and go to jail!
Sounds fair and balanced to me! - cquinnd, on 10/12/2007, -24/+2What crime? Inappropriate? Yes. Sexual Harassment? Maybe.
I'd agree about the resignation point, though, but that's not going to happen with
the elections only weeks away.
