- tajitj, on 09/28/2008, -0/+76After the lack of issues brought up last night, we need this badly.
- TheSchwa, on 09/28/2008, -0/+71As a small l libertarian I would pay good money to hear a debate between Barr and Baldwin. It would be nice to see a debate that was actually intellectually stimulating.
- Tangoland2, on 09/27/2008, -0/+66Cool idea...cant wait!!
- unownednews, on 09/28/2008, -0/+52lets just open the debates already!
- bucfish, on 09/28/2008, -0/+37After the two scripted speeches that was passed off as a debate the other night I look forward to a real debate unscripted.
- mrukz, on 09/28/2008, -0/+36Finally! I hope that this will happen, even though I am pretty sure that Obama and McCain will not participate. They would actually have to face some real ideas and it would make their positions look pale and uninspiring. Well, at least we will get to hear the alternatives and maybe some of our friends and acquaintances will understand the problem with two-party, no-outsiders system.
- ConcreteRage, on 09/28/2008, -0/+35After feeling depressed about the economy, I received an email from the Nader campaign, linking to the third party debate. It made my dreary morning!
Guys, let's please not let this thread devolve into a bicker and bitch-fest about who's candidate can beat up all the other candidates. Instead we should unite and our best chance for an open and honest third party debate! Have you pledged yet? Spread the word! We need a strong online showing.
Just my two cents. - bobv, on 09/28/2008, -0/+29If Lou Dobbs is the great 'independent' he claims to be he'll get behind this 100%
- kekemortson, on 09/28/2008, -0/+27Anything to get the voices and ideas of the third party candidates out to the general public. America deserves choices!
- habeas, on 09/28/2008, -0/+25Great idea. The two major party candidates and their parties basically agree that U.S. taxpayers have to bailout international bankers and mortgage brokers. They have been bamboozled, fooled, and given the bums rush by the Bush administration. The Bush administration and Treasury Secretary Paulson (former CEO of Goldman Sachs?) want to give handouts to their banker-lobbyist-Wall Street supporters and friends. They want to raid the U.S. Treasury and increase the U.S. debt in order to give handouts to the truly greedy (and truly stupid). They are holding our retirement and pension plans hostage. The U.S. (and world) is seeing another "shock and awe" tactic that is really aimed at more wealth transfer from taxpayers to the rich and governing class.
Only the third parties are talking about this. I know that Ralph Nader and Ron Paul should be against the bailout on principle. I would like to hear a debate on this. I hope that McCain and Obama participate. We really need this alternative point of view. - theaveragebear, on 09/28/2008, -0/+25I'm glad they are doing this, I just got the Nader letter about this, send to as many people as you can.. not much else to say today!!
more and more awake each day!! - roundup, on 09/28/2008, -0/+25Maybe we could get Lou Dobbs to moderate the debate.
- eldudereno, on 09/28/2008, -0/+25Please change the format, we need real people asking questions not a Dullard question master and take away those stupid lecterns and have the candidates sit down, siting down is after all the thinking persons position, those lecterns are for posers.
It would be good if C-Span or democracy now could broadcast this across the nation as not all people can use the Internet.
This is great idea otherwise and could change America for the better - jenwren68, on 09/28/2008, -0/+23Listen up Citizens of the USA;
The only hope for this country is mass turnout and overwhelming the 1 party posing as 2 party system by voting for any and all 3rd party candidates. Wake up people, we are on the edge of the cliff. More and more people are starting to understand that neither of the 2 major-party candidates has our interests at heart. When someone tells you not to throw your vote away, ask him if not voting your conscience isn't throwing a vote away. Check out The Kick Them All Out Project, www.firecongress.org and vote out the incumbent wherever you live! - ConcreteRage, on 09/28/2008, -0/+22Yes, this debate should really be televised. Believe it or not, not every demographic knows how to "stream" live video.
- PapaZit, on 09/28/2008, -0/+22If this thing gets big enough, hopefully the MSM will cover it, and who knows....perhaps TELEVISE it. At least CSPAN probably will.
- Njon, on 09/28/2008, -0/+21This could really be a big deal if the people get behind it. Anyone who supports it, I encourage you to notify local and national media. Write to/fax/call/etc. guys like Lou Dobbs and Glenn Beck and urge them to get behind it. If we really want to break the CPD's death grip on the debates, we need to be willing to fight for it.
- SilkHope, on 09/28/2008, -0/+21Right now for these Fingertips, it's not about whom one is voting for.. It's about being denied the Right (may I call it that..?) to see *ALL* the candidates *LEGALLY REGISTERED* on the ballots duke it out *AT THE SAME TIME*..
From a Human Rights activist's point of view:
• • • Separate Debates *ARE NOT EQUAL* • • •
Catch my drift..?
Peace, Love, Hope, and Social Justice For Us All.. ♥ - pheedback, on 09/28/2008, -0/+20Please digg this and pledge. Give the people a fair honest voice to speak for them.
- BTM08, on 09/28/2008, -0/+20You can submit your questions for the candidates. Either written or in youtube format. Submit here:
http://breakthematrix.com/content/Third-Party-Deba ... - bradwjensen, on 09/28/2008, -0/+20Go third-partys! Go Nader!
- CA5El3EER, on 09/28/2008, -0/+20I really like this. I hope people vote 3rd party even knowing that their candidate will loose. I feel that I am voting for the legitimacy of the 3rd party more than the candidate. If we can get some significant fraction of the voters voting 3rd party (say 25%), we may have the option of another candidate in future presidential races.
- Lynde247, on 09/28/2008, -0/+20About time we hold a fair debate. Go NADER! :)
- Vegepygmy, on 09/29/2008, -0/+19ever since the nader team sent out that email this morning, 3000 people have pledged! OPEN THE DEBATES!!!
NaderGonzalez o8!!! - PersianCowboy, on 09/28/2008, -0/+19NAder 08!
- Journeywithinn, on 09/28/2008, -0/+19We MUST vote third party..is the only way to change things. Terrific idea to let sleeple know what ELSE is happening..
- PatriotOne, on 09/28/2008, -0/+18Pledging.
- CGProphet, on 09/28/2008, -2/+20I don't like Nader at all, but that doesn't mean people shouldn't hear what a presidential hopeful has to say.
- jerrysheehan, on 09/28/2008, -2/+19It would have been nice to see Ron Paul or Lou Dobbs added to this list. It's too bad and too late for this country now. WWIII has begun and the end of America is here. I'm moving to Brazil and getting out of here before it's too late!
- drjbb, on 09/28/2008, -0/+17It is great these third party candidates are working together and are focusing on the core issues of importance for our country. These are great U.S. citizens! The United States is more important than a party. This is the point. So, GO THIRD PARTY OPEN DEBATES. GO open voices. GO open debates. GO freedom of information. GO citizens! Drop the money bombs!!!
- fingermaster, on 09/28/2008, -0/+16Not sure what user's mean by 'added to this list' - these are presidential candidates only - not random political figures debating...???
- Aim2Misbehave, on 09/29/2008, -0/+15The two party system is stagnant. Those of us who are not happy to vote either Republican or Democrat deserve to have our candidates heard. If this govenment is truly one "of the people" then there are a lot of citizens out there without a voice. It's time to let everyone have an equal voice so everyone can make an informed decision.
I'm tired of being told that my vote is wasted simply because I won't agree to be a sheep and follow a candidate that I don't believe in -- don't be bullied into voting two party if your head and heart follow a third party vision.
If more people can hear alternative views and solutions, more people will choose not to be sheepish. - alma4nader, on 09/29/2008, -0/+15Genius, brilliant, YES! I pledged. This is a very exciting concept. It could potentially change everything. OMG
- Carlyetta, on 09/29/2008, -0/+15Thank You, Dr. Ron Paul, Trevor Lyman, and others who are moving forward to engage the democratic process.
"WE THE PEOPLE" need to hear an intelligent debate with alternative solutions to the problems facing this nation. Enough of the rhetoric and pablum! The viewpoints of all the candidates, especially the "Third Party" candidates need to be part of mainstream media coverage so that voters are exposed to the complexity of the issues, not "simple answers" that have not and are not working. - bongobob, on 09/28/2008, -0/+15This debate will definately need to be televised live. the only problem would be finding a TV sponsor. All the media giants would want this thing thier way, and then the debate would be just as bland and boring as past debates.
- Doitzel, on 09/28/2008, -0/+15Awesome. I doubt the two major candidates will attend but it's a great idea nonetheless.
- Vegepygmy, on 09/28/2008, -0/+13how much money are we talking about here? to pledge?
- CGProphet, on 09/28/2008, -8/+21I dugg this because I digg everyone's political stories - not an activist digger :)
- Pegasussix, on 09/29/2008, -0/+13Don't let it be said that we did nothing.
- tajitj, on 09/29/2008, -1/+14Ask Bob Barr to join.
http://www.bobbarr2008.com/contact/
Ask Chuck Baldwin.
https://secure.giftwrapplus.org/b08/eu/contactus/
And Cynthia McKinney.
http://votetruth08.com/index.php/contacts - warchildbosnia, on 09/29/2008, -0/+13We really have to do something like this. Really really!
- theropingeffect, on 09/29/2008, -0/+12Spread the message!
- inactive, on 09/29/2008, -0/+11Get this done in Time......
- bdanaher17, on 09/28/2008, -11/+22Bobbarr2008.com
- ConcreteRage, on 09/28/2008, -0/+11Lou Dobbs is too ... polarizing.
I'd LOVE for Jesse Ventura to moderate. At least then everyone would get a fair shake. - brad3378, on 09/28/2008, -0/+11I couldn't agree more.
- eslegaspi, on 09/29/2008, -1/+11i signed up!
- tajitj, on 09/28/2008, -0/+9I think Barr and Nader should get their own together and ask their supporters to get this going. No word from them on this yet.
We do not have to agree with Dr. Paul all of the time. You notice the only thing he did for him so far was one paragraph in a letter. It is not like the C4L turned into Baldwin central. He still wants us to work for 3rd party access. This would be a huge first step. - tajitj, on 09/28/2008, -0/+8If Lou was real he would encourage his viewers to vote 3rd party. He can rant all he wants. But not giving them a way to do something about it he serves no purpose. All you get are politicians who try to pander to him.
He should take a strong stance and tell his views to vote for or write-in someone other than the two parties. - CurtisLow101, on 10/01/2008, -0/+8Get the word out! Vote 3ed party!
