- WilliamCrandall, on 10/14/2008, -9/+52"With great enthusiasm, the Globe endorses Senator Barack Obama for president. The charismatic Democrat from Illinois has the ability to channel Americans’ hopes and rally the public together, at a time when the winds are picking up and the clouds keep on darkening."
- mebble, on 10/14/2008, -10/+48The BG should have endorsed Obama a long time ago. But better late than never. The BG says Obama isn't immune to political calculation ... well, he is a politician after all. And what do you expect? Instant solutions? Instant brilliant recipes? This national craving for immediate gratification is childish and dangerous. Obama has shown his intelligence. He is highly trained. He understands and respects our Constitution. He will be a steady hand on the tiller and a man with the courage to voice unpopular opinions (see "the Iraq war", etc.) ... If anyone can be a president to all Americans and guide this Nation through the storm, with a sensibility for citizens of all colors and creeds, as well as the invaluable perspective of an American who was also raised abroad, it's Senator Obama.
- sulthernao, on 10/14/2008, -3/+35William Timmons, former lobbyist on the behalf of Saddam Hussein, is leading the McCain transition team. Nuff said.

Actually quite a bit, "Conservatard". Seriously? Name calling doesn't help your cause. It'll be interesting to see who the Chicago Tribune endorses (they haven't endorsed a democrat since 1872). - LeviTheSmith, on 10/14/2008, -2/+24I hate ignorant ***** like yourself
- cadmiumpaint, on 10/14/2008, -2/+23racist bigots like you are a disgrace to America. Please leave ASAP
- inactive, on 10/14/2008, -6/+26Stupid Racist Republitard.
Nuf said. - turpialito, on 10/14/2008, -2/+20Tool
- inactive, on 10/14/2008, -4/+20Is this really a surprise?
- inactive, on 10/14/2008, -2/+18Careful there, sulthernao. Giving facts to a conservitard is like giving sunlight to a vampire.
- vampyroteuthis, on 10/14/2008, -5/+18has a single legitimate newspaper endorsed old man, grumpy-pants? i sure haven't seen one....
- inactive, on 10/14/2008, -4/+17Nuf said?
Only if your politics revolves around racism, intolerance, and lies.
Thanks for illustrating the character of Republicans. It's just as vile and un-American as I thought. - BigPapi, on 10/14/2008, -5/+17Globe for Obama, Herald for McCain. Same as always. Will the Herald ever wake up?
- Aadain, on 10/14/2008, -0/+12I think their point, "...has the ability to channel Americans’ hopes...", is the basis of his popularity. He isn't perfect and will not fix all our problems just by providing good plans. He actually inspires others to want to do better and will give people the opportunities to implement his plans. To me, that is the definition of a leader.
- malex, on 10/14/2008, -0/+11So... you counter an overgeneralization with another overgeneralization?
I don't think that every Republican is vile and un-American. Just the ones that pretend that having a foreign name is somehow a reason not to trust someone.
... And also the ones who try and deny that xenophobia and prejudice are not major factors in the Republican resistance to Obama. - inactive, on 10/14/2008, -9/+20Wow, I never saw that one coming, color me shocked. A newspaper from the most liberal state in the country endorsing the most liberal senator. Who'd a thunk it.
- GregFD3S, on 10/14/2008, -6/+17Massachusetts, the smartest state.
- BrendanSheehan, on 10/14/2008, -5/+15Next up: McCain endorses Obama :)

Endorsements for Obama over McCain
25 vs. 7 - nutmac, on 10/15/2008, -0/+9With great reservation, I, a former McCain supporter, endorse Senator Barack Obama for president. The moronic Republican from Alaska has the ability to destroy Americas' hopes and alienate many Republican supporters, at a time when McCain had a legitimate chance of winning the election.
- theaceoffire, on 10/14/2008, -1/+10@Noelsusman
You have to admit that the extremists are running the Republican train now. - tbredofsin, on 10/14/2008, -0/+9Actually, a number of independent organizations confirmed (via studies) that he is or has been the most liberal senator based upon voting record; certainly, he is one of them.
- TheInformer, on 10/14/2008, -3/+12And, The Boston Herald supports and endorses John McCain.
- tbredofsin, on 10/14/2008, -3/+12Obama's merits as a candidate aside, doesn't it bother anyone else that newspapers are coming out and blatantly endorsing candidates they're supposed to be reporting on impartially?
- inactive, on 10/14/2008, -1/+10Look at his voting record and tell me again. Funny thing about the truth, isn't it?
- adjustafresh, on 10/15/2008, -0/+8About as surprising as Sean Hannity endorsing McCain.
- leontes, on 10/14/2008, -2/+10http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Editorial
Most major newspapers have a strict policy of keeping "editorial" and "news" staffs separate. - enclaved, on 10/14/2008, -0/+8You don't even make sense, why don't you think and then not say anything instead.
- sockpuppets, on 10/14/2008, -1/+9Country Kitchen Buffet endorsed McCain earlier today, that's got to be press worthy.
- atact88, on 10/14/2008, -2/+9And I care about the Boston Globe why? Isn't this the same city that was terrorized by Aqua Teen Hunger Force?
Don't get me wrong, I'm voting for Obama. But who gives a dick about who's endorsing him? I'm endorsing him, and that's all I need to know. - johnsna2, on 10/15/2008, -1/+7Senator McCain had the poorest attendance record in the Senate, I suppose you should be asking why we pay him too.
- yevkasem, on 10/15/2008, -0/+6I VOTE FOR WHOEVER THE NEWSPAPERS SAY TO VOTE FOR.
UNLESS MY FAVORITE CELEBRITIES DISAGREE. - Jackson0909, on 10/14/2008, -3/+9Wow. What a surprise.............
- zyklon, on 10/14/2008, -1/+7Stop feeding that troll, boys and girls.
- Hiltonizer, on 10/14/2008, -0/+6except, the Boston Globe is owned by the New York Times.... and I'm from Boston.
- zacharytelschow, on 10/15/2008, -0/+6Those who wish the same for themselves.
- redpickle, on 10/15/2008, -0/+5Care to explain what "lie" he told there Mr. Jackson?
- EarlOfLade, on 10/15/2008, -0/+5Let me be the first one to say: Thank you!
We probably disagree on most political issues, but you have my respect, sir! - TheInformer, on 10/14/2008, -9/+14Huffingtonpost, the legitimate news source for Digg, endorses Obama. I think that says enough.
- malex, on 10/15/2008, -0/+4Hey, here's an idea. Why don't you submit all those articles as new stories, rather than trying to shoehorn them into a completely different discussion thread, and just let the social network do what it's supposed to do?
Think you can handle that, gibbwake? - EntropyFan, on 10/14/2008, -1/+5Well, it is about as press worthy as this.
- Eugenitor, on 10/14/2008, -2/+6What's really telling is the '04 Bush switches.
- brianjlowry, on 10/15/2008, -0/+4He lied about them? What are you talking about?
- hinchb, on 10/15/2008, -2/+6Newspapers shouldn't endorse political candidates.
- iamghost, on 10/15/2008, -1/+5Newspapers are supposed to deliver unbiased news. They shouldn't be endorsing candidates. At least not openly.
- zyklon, on 10/14/2008, -1/+5Well people tend to endorse the presidential candidate who's NOT endorsed by the worst president in history.
- martalli, on 10/15/2008, -1/+4"My friend", Senator McCain has the poorest attendance record in the Senate.
- inactive, on 10/14/2008, -0/+3Look at how many red counties there are in California and look at how many there are in Taxxachusetts. Not a single one for yankee state. The blue counties in California are located around LA, San Francisco and the other large cities but apart from that it's all red. Do a little research before you look foolish.
- akchrs, on 10/14/2008, -5/+8Who cares?
- algaeturd, on 10/14/2008, -7/+10Digg, digg and dugg. What took you so long, Globe?
