- inactive, on 09/06/2008, -19/+291Johnny McCain. True rebel. Not like all of those other pussies, McCain crashed not only 1, 2, 3, 4... but FIVE navy airplanes! Way to stick it to the man, Johnny!!
1936-2006! - sewollef, on 09/06/2008, -5/+255Hilarious. Easily one of his best. But then he does have one of the best comedy writing teams in New York. Plus the team of researchers and fact-checkers. All spot-on. Stewart is becoming a very powerful figure, despite his protestations of being 'just a comedian'. He's moved far from that now.
More power to him. If only there were dozens more like him. - HarChim, on 09/07/2008, -4/+220The Daily Show News Team: The Best ***** News Team Ever. It's kinda sad how that's true.
- inactive, on 09/06/2008, -7/+170It was frigging hilarious how he pulled them a part - and the acceptance speech of John McCain - almost word for word BUSH! LOL
- spookyttws, on 09/07/2008, -1/+123Why not just link up the high(er) resolution, commercial free full version provided by Comedy Central themselves? Oh, right, ad revenue. Either way, here you go:
High quality, commercial free full episode: http://www.thedailyshow.com/full-episodes/index.jh ... - barbiesnow, on 09/06/2008, -11/+131Stewart hit all the right stuff...too bad Repugs don't watch....
- ClearVista, on 09/07/2008, -1/+87That was fantastic.
"All gay people have to do is marry someone of the opposite sex" - I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. - spookyttws, on 09/07/2008, -7/+90My two cents: Republican values are small town values, small town values are 1950 values. Back when women knew their place was in the kitchen, and if black people wanted equal rights we instead gave them dog bites and water hoses. And last time I checked, a lot of small towns have major issues with poverty, Meth/Oxycotin addiction, and general lack of cheap access to well funded schools and hospitals. I'll take my 'large town' and my horrible homosexual friends who would do more for me at the drop of a hat than this administration is willing to do by giving them equal rights.
- coreyriverdog, on 09/06/2008, -6/+76Worthy of Jonathan Swift, Mark Twain or Lenny Bruce. Jon gets better and better bringing the laughter of truth to power!
- cicerojnr, on 09/07/2008, -5/+74It just goes to show that with a little TiVo and the absence of the standard goldfish memory, the Republican campaign is one of the most hypocritical, negative and dangerous things on the planet right now. The lies! Oh, the Lies never stop!! When will they stop?!
This is the best episode ever in my opinion because it cuts through about forty layers of total *****. - jimithy, on 09/07/2008, -5/+71I want to see more of the best ***** news team!
- cyberdork, on 09/07/2008, -4/+66Is it only me or did the Daily Show rip the GOP completely apart this week? I'm a regular TDS viewer, and they always try to make fun of both sides. But this time they shredded the GOP to pieces. I loved it ;-)
- ashwinmudigonda, on 09/07/2008, -3/+46You know why I am sad:
1) John Stewart and Obama should be THE ticket.
2) Ok ok, so he is a news anchor..how I wish that was his real job and he and his team were awarded the best journalistic awards there is! If this doesn't open your eyes to reality, what is journalism?
3) I can only digg this once. - ifman, on 09/07/2008, -7/+49http://www.factcheck.org/askfactcheck/did_mccain_c ...
- NinjaGod, on 09/07/2008, -1/+42Bottom ten of his class, so I think he's obviously not THAT good.
- foo42, on 09/07/2008, -5/+44For all us Canadians:
http://watch.thecomedynetwork.ca/#clip89338 - MindyB, on 09/07/2008, -1/+38If what you are implying is even remotely true, then there would not be very many pilots alive! Falling from the sky is a little more deadly than tripping on a sidewalk. Your assumption doesn't make much sense, would it make sense to say that everyone who drives must have been or will be in at least one car accident in their lifetime? Besides with cars, you have traffic and some nuts on the road that would increase your chances of crashing. That is not exactly the case with flying. A pilot is supposed to be well trained and tested. Sure there are accidents all the time, but I doubt it is the norm rather than the exception.
My step-father was a pilot in the Air Force and he never crashed, ever. He is 84 years old and he continued to fly after he left the Air Force until he was 65 y/o--never one crash. - sugarazor, on 09/07/2008, -0/+35The best part of that was that guy was the biggest closet case in that entire building. I'm sure they found him at the Minneapolis airport bathroom later that evening.
- dunhate, on 09/07/2008, -5/+37Colbert would've been a better VP than Palin.
- WhoRadley, on 09/07/2008, -7/+36Stop saying repugs.
You sound unintelligent. - pintomp3, on 09/07/2008, -4/+33the daily show has been on fire this week. obama should consider hiring them to do some ads.
- sugarazor, on 09/07/2008, -1/+30But McCain is change! He told me!
- MagaStrega, on 09/07/2008, -3/+31Oh this was definitely one of the best - I really loved Lieberman as Droopy Dog & Thompson as Foghorn Leghorn, simply hilarious. McCain & Palin are quite the ***** and it was great seeing the whole rethug party mocked. Go Jon & the Daily Show.
- pixelate, on 09/07/2008, -0/+27I don't think Stewart has ever denied that he has a huge following or 'power' in the sense you're saying.
Occasionally people (mostly in the news business) mistake his ratings and respect for an obligation to start acting less like a comedian, and he's only too happy to call them out on their hypocrisy.
His spiel on 'Crossfire' is still legendary. And sadly it didn't change much. - amatyarakshasa, on 09/07/2008, -2/+27Jon Stewart saves the day, again.
- WhoRadley, on 09/07/2008, -5/+30Why are we letting jedreport get traffic for this?
- sugarazor, on 09/07/2008, -0/+24LoL! LIPSTICK! GET IT?! HUR HUR!
Jesus Christ, the Republicans are ***** assclowns. - Lutremi, on 09/07/2008, -1/+23Umm, Obama was magna cum laude, and in freakin Harvard.
- crazycarlmar, on 09/07/2008, -0/+22except get the show canceled
- ClearVista, on 09/07/2008, -0/+21Unfortunately, only people in the USA can view those full episodes because of copyright laws. The Daily Show is very popular all over the world so a lot of people outside of the USA who also care about your election (as USA policy, both foreign and domestic, affects other countries) would be deprived of The Daily Shows genius.
Saying that though, if I had the option of watching a full, high quality, commercial free episode, I certainly would. - dood, on 09/07/2008, -0/+21Agreed. Terms like "Repugs", "Dumocrats", "McSame"/"McLame", "Nobama", etc. all reduce the effectiveness of an argument.
Of course, we probably come across as elite east coast intellectuals when we condemn the practice. Just can't win! - DeePsix501, on 09/07/2008, -4/+24You have to watch: John McCain: Reformed Maverick (second clip down)
It really shows you what utter bullsh*t that McCain and the Republicans are peddling. - cyberdork, on 09/07/2008, -4/+22Repugs don't matter.
But think about all those undecided voters who watched it! - Pake, on 09/07/2008, -2/+18Too bad they can use the McCain/Bush comparison speeches as an ad, because that in itself shows the two are similar now.
- textuality, on 09/07/2008, -2/+18Dugg for the kiss!
- BrewBeau, on 09/07/2008, -3/+18I don't understand at all how "small town values" is meant to be a positive thing. Say what you want about big cities and their corruption, crime, etc. But small towns are usually isolated on most things, like religion, race, and economic class. If you've never even met a homosexual or muslim, let alone worked with or lived near one, how are you, in any way, qualified to understand and represent their needs or wishes?
- CoolGui, on 09/07/2008, -1/+16I was thinking the same... last week was DNC and they found plenty to make fun of there, but not as bad as this. I think they just made it tooo easy for them not to take advantage...
- djtomorama, on 09/07/2008, -1/+16"Who is this man?"
I bet he would have a different answer for you, for everyday of the week.
"Can we trust him?"
After choosing Palin, well let's just say I'm glad to be an EU citizen and leave is no problem. He's just twitching to start some serious *****. - homercles337, on 09/07/2008, -4/+19This does not change the fact that 94.4% of his classmates are smarter than him. Just like Bush, this idiot got special treatment in the military because of his family connections.
- tucsonwc, on 09/07/2008, -1/+15Really?
Ask his ex-wife.
Or ask his current one about his anger mgmt issues. - allnone, on 09/07/2008, -2/+16Those were some great examples of true small town values. Now I remember why I moved away from a small town in SC and never went back.
- RoflCoptah, on 09/07/2008, -3/+17if its one thing republicans are good for, they make me laugh
- fmaxwell, on 09/07/2008, -0/+14Perhaps your idea of edgy comedy is The Carol Burnett Show or I Love Lucy, but the rest of us judge The Daily Show based on how insightful the writing is, how good the research is, *and* how funny the show is. It's why they won a Peabody award.
- alwilson, on 09/07/2008, -0/+14Trouble is, we get burned in the same fire they started.
- bagboyrebel, on 09/07/2008, -1/+14@greevar
being apathetic about it doesn't help either, try learning about the candidates before saying something like that. - Gabberwok, on 09/07/2008, -0/+13Better President than McCain too. The funny thing is, had he actually ran in the South Carolina primary, there's a good chance he would have stolen enough votes from Obama to give Clinton the nomination. I was upset at the time, but thinking back now I'm glad he didn't go through with it.
- smart89aleck, on 09/07/2008, -1/+13"It's Rob Riggle! The youngest of the Riggle boys! From the Stewart place...?"
- anogenic, on 09/07/2008, -1/+13"John Bush, err, John McCain is very much his own man" LOL
- mushoo, on 09/07/2008, -1/+13Hey what do you expect?
Their idea of change is the same old Texas purdied-up pig with an new shade of lipstick, and in this case a pit-bull to go along with it. - FiP0, on 09/07/2008, -3/+14The most original title for a story EVER ?
