The Audacity of Hope
article.nationalreview.com — A letter by Sherif Girgis of Dover, Del., to Obama. He is the child of an immigrant family from Egypt who came to the U.S.A. to assimilate rather than assassinate. He is a senior philosophy major at Princeton University and a 2008 Rhodes Scholar and has some worthy/tough questions for Obama to address.

- MrsSpooky, on 03/06/2008, -0/+15I love this man.
- InRussetShadows, on 03/06/2008, -0/+18Obama better hope that guy never shows up at any of his campaign stops.
- Antarcticn, on 03/06/2008, -0/+13Sherif Girgis' logic is flawless. Even "eloquent" obamassiah the "rock star" couldn't spin its wormy way out of the airtight rationale.
obamassiah's "audacity of hope" should be "Audacity of Pretentiousness" to better make an accurate statement about the character of the author.
I hope Sherif Girgis was not brainwashed beyond recovery and/or usefulness to humankind at-large. That is usually the fate suffered by a Rhodes' Scholar-cum-global elitist. The admonishment calling obamassiah to task is promising. I'm sure the Rhodes' Scholar Thought Police will soon visit Sherif to dictate future thoughts and words. - KCLorelei39, on 03/06/2008, -0/+16I pray this eloquent query makes it to the desk of the Senator from Illinois; to his pastor's desk; to Oprah's desk; and to the desks of all who are busily chanting, "yes we can".
- DaveKnowsTalent, on 03/07/2008, -0/+3That's our job.... to let the "others" know :)
- these3remain, on 03/06/2008, -0/+16"Some say that prohibiting abortion would only harm women by driving it underground. But to assume so is truly to play the politics of fear." Wonderful article that articulates the pro-life position with understanding and insight. This man knows how to ask the tough questions and presents well-reasoned arguments to back his position. It should be mailed to every pro-death person in the country and certainly those who seek the highest office of this land.
- DaveKnowsTalent, on 03/07/2008, -0/+3I agree....yet I also have the feeling that none shall listen or contemplate the true evil of abortion... as people have turned from God & are now blinded to the truth like never before.
Yet we will let our light shine in this very dark world!

- blessedwith6, on 03/06/2008, -0/+5I read this and wanted to share it but didn't see the digg link. Did I miss something?
- these3remain, on 03/06/2008, -0/+4Hmmm. When I shared this, I just did it the usual way by clicking on the share arrow - then I sent out my shouts. If you want to share it off digg, then go to the article - it allows you to email it to others.
- blessedwith6, on 03/06/2008, -0/+3OK, I don't mean to be dense, but there isn't a digg option on the article itself. Is there a way to digg an article with no digg link on the page?
- groovsmyth, on 03/06/2008, -0/+3Not all news sources promote digg and other social news networks by providing a link directly on the article. After you follow the link to the article and read it, it would then be necessary to hit the back button on your browser to digg it from the digg website itself.
- nancyu, on 03/12/2008, -0/+1Just hit the "Submit New" at the top of the page.
- Kent4jmj, on 03/06/2008, -0/+3Go to the top, to the blue title, The Audacity of Hope click it, this opens the article in new window, copy url and paste in your email. Helped?
- nancyu, on 03/12/2008, -0/+1Thanks, I've been trying to figure out how to send those "shouts"!

- KCLorelei39, on 03/06/2008, -0/+4are you wanting to know how to submit an article to Digg? say if you run across an article you want to share by Digging it? For those articles without a "Digg" option, you just go to Digg.com, and at the top of the page, click on "Submit New". It's easy to do, Digg does most of the work; you just have to verify that you're human, type up an into for the article, and verify that you're not submitting a duplicate article.
Hope that helps : )- blessedwith6, on 03/07/2008, -0/+1It does! Thank you! :-)

- LauraEtch, on 03/06/2008, -0/+6Excellent!
- CryRightardCry, on 03/06/2008, -8/+0Buried as more moronic anti-choice stupidity.
Some people just can't accept letting women make their own decisions.
This isn't about abortion. It's about control.
If it was about abortion there would be a push by people like the "author" for prenatal and postnatal care, day care, assistance for poor kids, etc.
Did he bitch to Bush for vetoing care for poor kids?
Just more jackasses trying to force their will on women, yet doing NOTHING to help.
It's being disgusting. It's blatant abuse.
When this ***** campaigns to help mothers, maybe he'll be worth something. But to just bitch about how women should be forced to bear children is neanderthalistic. It's regressive.
It's the opposite direction America USED to move in.
Apparently now abusing women and warmongering is the new rage.
Buried as moronic crap.
The perversion of Christianity to support attacks on women while ignoring the rest of the stuff in the Bible is not only ignorant, it's just plain evil.
You guys know it.
You are the same idiots who scream about gays and how Leviticus bans them while eating shellfish at Red Lobster.
Shellfish is also banned. So's adultery, but you cowards don't go after the cheaters
This is just more idiots misinterpreting the Bible to fit in with their own needs to feel superior to others.
Too bad they choose pregnant women to try to dominate for their ego stroke.- Antarcticn, on 03/06/2008, -0/+6You're one sick . . . what? Puppy? There's a certain Marine who'd gleefully toss you off a 200' cliff while you yelp. And its pals would record the video and put it on YouTube. Then a bunch of us "perverted Christians" who appreciate the value of life (yes, even yours, as lost as it is) would cry that it was wrong to pitch your insolent, know-it-all butt into a rocky gully and grisly end. :-D
- gypsi, on 03/06/2008, -1/+2do they still make people like you?
- groovsmyth, on 03/06/2008, -0/+3Unfortunately, the latchkey world makes an overabundance of them. Underneath all the hate, is a demented, depressed *Cry* for perverse justice. Nihilism rationalizes that since perfection is not attainable, we are hypocrites if we fail... so why even try? It's an entire culture fixated at the adolescent angst level.
As has been quoted before of endtime prophecy: Good will be called evil and evil, good.

- KCLorelei39, on 03/06/2008, -0/+4How many 'choices' have you paid for? Let me tell you something, precious few women actually freely choose abortion. I'm one that had my choice made for me, my Planned Genocide, by my boyfriend, by the times we live in...mine was a case of coersion, not a free-will choice.
Believe it or not, I do agree that more discussions should be made about taking care of the women who do not wish to abort. More information needs to be made widely public about ALL the options available to a woman that finds herself pregnant and may not be overjoyed at the news.
And I agree, it's about control: control of money that flows into the pockets of abortion providers. Control over certain ethnic groups population. Control over women by predatory men, who abuse, rape, molest, or lie their way into a woman's bed, and thenwith the help of the all-too-willing abortion industry, cover up their crimes and lies.
Which category do you fall into? Those who think women should be free to be bullied into submitting to an abortion because someone thinks it is the 'best choice' for her? Or someone who truly is on the woman's side? Why aren't you speaking out against predatory men?
Let's talk. - these3remain, on 03/07/2008, -0/+4So you're not only angry, you're illiterate, too. The author expressed the fact that assistance needs to be provided to those who wish to keep their babies. The author made no references to the Bible so your assumption regarding his Christanity is also baseless. His arguments simply raised the question about human rights that Obama so much wants to lay claim to. He debunks Obama's claim to being a champion of human rights by asking questions about the limbs, heart and life of the unborn human. It is about helping women who are the MOST helpless and unprotected - but you don't see it that way, do you? You're the one that is debased and depraved.
- DaveKnowsTalent, on 03/07/2008, -0/+5If I ever need a public relations pro.... can I hire you? LOL
@these3
Always an articulate and insightful response, without losing you're cool - God Bless my friend!- these3remain, on 03/07/2008, -0/+2God bless you, dave.
- DaveKnowsTalent, on 03/07/2008, -0/+5If I ever need a public relations pro.... can I hire you? LOL
- blessedwith6, on 03/07/2008, -0/+3Just how many "pro-choice" crisis pregnancy centers are in your area? How many PLanned Parenthoods and other abortion providers also provide education, prenatal care, baby supplies, job and parenting counseling and mentoring programs for unwed mothers in need of help to have their baby? I know of hundreds of such centers that offer all those things and more run by pro-life people who are working tirelessly to offer help and hope to women who have been abandoned by their family or friends and who don't want to use abortion as an escape from their problems. I have never heard of a single crisis pregnancy center that was run by people who support abortion as an option.
So your pathetic argument that pro-lifers only care about the baby before hes born and not the mother or the child after he's born is based on ignorance and prejudice. Perhaps you should educated yourself before showing everyone how misinformed you are.
