- eclectro, on 03/05/2008, -3/+58Let's not forget the "become friends with the SNL cast to get free airtime and appear hip."
- GhostyBoy, on 03/05/2008, -21/+70It's reassuring to know that this weak ***** is the best attacks the opposition can muster on the man who is going to be the President of the United States.
- yellowsnowcone, on 03/05/2008, -15/+63Digg has been a colossal failure in subverting the news paradigm when it comes to coverage of the 2008 elections, showing that the traditional way of editing news websites still has plenty to offer.
Not a single story about the election results made it to the front page. Why? Because Hilary won, and Obama lost.
IMO, Digg is the biggest loser, because important stories will not make it to the front page (while other less worthy stories are promoted) if interested parties determined to make it so. - Sassmo, on 03/05/2008, -4/+27He grew up in Hawaii so... Don't forget to add Pineapple Slinger to that list.
- insomniacal, on 03/05/2008, -0/+22Republicans swearing they'll vote Hillary over McCain. Democrats swearing they'll vote McCain over Hillary. If nothing else, it sure is entertaining.
- irresolute, on 03/05/2008, -2/+21Also don't forget to turn on the waterworks before a major primary to sway the softies.
- hamobu, on 03/05/2008, -8/+24Hillary demonstrated that mud slinging and dirty tactics works.
- noahhoward, on 03/05/2008, -2/+16I missed the days when people didn't have to have the answer to their questions handed to them on a platter… do you know people actually used to read and research when they wanted to know more about something?
- bostonvoip, on 03/05/2008, -1/+14Digg...proves that group think is a real thing
- Pherdnut, on 03/05/2008, -3/+16You don't even know what socialism is.
- LloydBentsen, on 03/05/2008, -17/+30John McCain is a Muslim?
- Buzzbean, on 03/05/2008, -6/+17The Clintons have been doing this for many years to all of their opponents, primarily Republicans.
- TomK88, on 03/05/2008, -2/+13Well you better pick who you like more: Obama or McCain because those are going to be the viable candidates in the election.
- inactive, on 03/05/2008, -5/+16Weasel out of treatment? What!? You mean like Britain not wanting to pay for the treatment of overweight people? Or do you mean like Canada making people wait until it's too late to save them?
Do you think it's going to be cheaper when it's "Free"? Do you know anything about supply and demand? What do you think the demand for healthcare will be when it's "free"? - inactive, on 03/05/2008, -1/+11Well, it will be "free" and we'll all use it to our hearts content while drinking free beer here on Big Rock Candy Mountain!
- imikedaman, on 03/05/2008, -1/+11Also, news of Clinton considering a lawsuit in Texas made front page, but news of Obama also considering that same lawsuit *and* actually filing a lawsuit in Ohio fell by the wayside.
Clinton was hoping to remove the caucus system in Texas since that only represents the will of the people who are able to fit into a building at the designated time, which subverts the democratic process already established in that state. In Ohio, Obama managed to get the polls to remain open longer since that would have only represented the will of the people who were able to vote before they ran out of ballots. Both cases seem perfectly justified to me (since they'd both help restore and balance the democratic process by allowing everyone to be equally represented), but it was turned into a horrible scandal when Clinton thought about doing it and largely ignored when Obama did the same.
Digg is a good place to go if you're looking for funny and interesting pictures, but anything else is complete propaganda. Clinton hired black people to hold signs? Clinton made Obama look blacker in videos? Obama is winning in Texas and Ohio? Clinton doesn't care about our civil liberties? Give me a break! - werddrew, on 03/05/2008, -4/+13I keep hearing this comment over and over and it makes no sense. Just because he doesn't constantly espouse his plan in his speeches doesn't mean he doesn't have one. Some candidates benefit more from expounding upon their "plan" during their stump speeches. Others benefit from whipping up emotional support during their stump speeches. Obama is OBVIOUSLY the latter. But just because his strategy involves less "meat" during his speeches doesn't mean he doesn't HAVE it.
Look at his website. Read the news articles. The mysterious "plan" you're looking for is RIGHT THERE and you're upset because he's not screaming it at you from the stage? His candidacy depends on inspiration. That's his strategy. If you want to see what he will DO with those who are inspired once he wins, all it takes is a trip to www.barackobama.com and you can find out. - TaintDeli, on 03/05/2008, -2/+11He can't degrade our rights any more than the Bush administration has since 9/11... And I would rather fund third-world aid projects with my tax dollars than third-world wars. Enjoy your tax cuts now, for when it's time to make good on the $2-3 trillion the Iraq war is projected to cost, taxes will go up regardless.
- bostonvoip, on 03/05/2008, -7/+16Are you kidding - assuming that you are employed - YOU will be paying for your health insurance on top of a 50%+ tax rate will be paying for things like healthcare for people that do not...
- Wiseguy237, on 03/05/2008, -1/+10You're assuming the government could do it efficiently. I'm afraid you are deceived.
- billmccartney, on 03/05/2008, -7/+16I don't want to get into a debate with you, but Obama has a more detailed plan than Hillary OR McCain... He actually wrote a plan... Or, better than that, he had experts in the fields write the plan! But if you are a Hillary/McCain fan and are just bashing Obama for no rational reason - Please Continue :)
- brsmnky007, on 03/05/2008, -4/+12Liberalism/Progressivism != Socialism
- sublimemm, on 03/05/2008, -2/+10umm... the unemployed already have health care, paid for by YOUr tax dollars...
- yojiffyskippy, on 03/05/2008, -1/+9I hate to break it to you, but this was proven long before anyone today was born. Politics is a dirty business.
- insomniacal, on 03/05/2008, -1/+9Digg in denial.
- ubitendo, on 03/05/2008, -4/+11We have a woman and a black man running for president, but a muslim or an arab would have no chance in hell.
- hamobu, on 03/05/2008, -1/+8Huckabee with less money did a lot better than RP.
- Rahodeb, on 03/05/2008, -2/+9So, instead of my employer paying my health care costs, I'll get to pay for it out of my higher income tax rate? Sign me up!
Anything I can do to take the financial burden off of corporations is fine by me. - sholt, on 03/05/2008, -2/+9The slashdot inspired, "Digg if you think this is important," became the MySpace inspired, "Digg if you like it, and friend me too."
- vade79, on 03/05/2008, -3/+10"but he never gives a plan" ... he has announced just as many plans as the others. The Clinton ads have seeped into your brain.
And for you CypressQ, wtf does "His policy ideas are kind of naive" even mean, subjective and you need to cite something specific. Do you people argue with anything that is true or isn't so vague it can't be quantified? - TheReport, on 03/05/2008, -3/+10funneling money from our hard earned paychecks to social programs like welfare + Government Subsidies paid for by Johnny Q and Jane Q Tax dollar + State run/controlled programs like healthcare = Socialsim
- hartley, on 03/05/2008, -0/+7Anything I can do for myself, and not have the government do for me is fine by me.
- Pherdnut, on 03/05/2008, -2/+8Which ideas? How are they naive? Clinton supporters are just parrots.
- DRINKxREDxBULL, on 03/05/2008, -1/+7Not to mention all of freedom we are going to lose when the Federal government had a financial interest in keeping their subjects healthy. Say goodbye to any personal choices on anything regarding your health (which is anything and everything).
- inactive, on 03/05/2008, -0/+6blate & Docglass,
If you think Corps are efficient at making money, wait until you see how good public "servants" are with expanding their islands. They are only surpassed by the public sector unions at expanding useless work. - ADVIZR, on 03/05/2008, -1/+7^ Exactly.
- Number23, on 03/05/2008, -0/+5That the problem with being a Messiah, one day they’re placing palms in your path, the next they’re nailing you to a cross.
- inactive, on 03/05/2008, -1/+6Can we please get rid of this ***** retarded two-party system now? Why must our entire set of American ideals fall within two predetermined points of view?
- insomniacal, on 03/05/2008, -4/+9Dugg for "Is he articulate?"
- eclectro, on 03/05/2008, -3/+8Yes, it was a fail, but not because he was a douche. But because he did not have the resources or the ability to connct with voters like Obama has. MCain winning is just dumb luck, and Hillary got to where she is at by having a knife fight.
- GoneGreen, on 03/05/2008, -2/+7If you want to live in your little bubble and believe that America is the great country it once was, then feel free. Thinking individuals know what a piece of ***** country America is becoming... Then asshats like you talk crap about the only candidate who sees the problems with our country and has the answers as to how to fix them.
- purplelantern, on 03/05/2008, -1/+6LOL. There is an official third party candidate, remember Nader?
And democrates have been crying a river over it... - TaintDeli, on 03/05/2008, -1/+6Nader ftw...?
- yellowsnowcone, on 03/05/2008, -4/+8Actually, if the election were held today, I would vote for McCain, a dem in GOP clothing. But if Hilary or Obama were on the same ticket (in either order), I would vote for that ticket. But we know that's not going to happen.
My chief complaint is that between this story and the last to make the front page ("Hillary's Ad: Debate Footage Doctored To Make Obama Blacker") there wasn't a single story about Ohio or Texas.
Now had the result gone the other way, we would have seen stories all over Digg.
So yeah, Digg is broken, because it replaces so-called MSM bias with interest-group bias. Bias either way is bad when it comes to news gathering. - gypsi, on 03/05/2008, -3/+7ron paul really needed to work on his presentation and find a message that the party could latch onto. instead he just made it too damn easy for the other candidates, the press and voters to write him off.
- Stingr, on 03/05/2008, -7/+11"Me: Well, do you support his propositions to change the corporate tax code?"
Yes. It's about time to end the tax cuts for all of Bush's rich friends and the oil companies that own him when they can afford to pay more. http://www.barackobama.com/issues/economy/#tax-rel ...
"Me: Do you mind if your personal taxes are increased in order to fund his universal health care plan which will cover those who don't play taxes?"
A: I know you're not talking about illegal immigrants because, as I'm sure you know, his plan doesn't mention anything about that. (Source: http://www.barackobama.com/issues/healthcare/) Also, just because someone doesn't make enough money to pay taxes that should exclude them from getting health insurance?
B: If paying a little more, which I (and a lot of other people) can afford, means a single mom working multiple jobs with two kids can have health insurance then no, I don't mind.
"Me: Do you care that the 10th Amendment to the Constitution will have to be nullified or ignored in order for Obama's universal health care plan to be executed at the federal level?"
No it will not. I fail to see how helping fellow Americans in need is exclusively a state's right. Selfish people like you have no idea what America was supposed to be all about. This country was built around people from all walks of life working together for a common purpose not this every man for himself mentality that most citizens have devolved into.
So you see not all Obama supporters are mindless followers. I've done my research on the candidate and made my choice based on that research. - vade79, on 03/05/2008, -0/+4You have a very small brain. I lose my valuable brain cells reading comments like yours.
- jpetrin, on 03/05/2008, -9/+13Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner. "Only thing I don't like about Obama is, he doesn't have a plan" That's a pretty big thing to have a problem with, don't you think? That's like saying the only thing I don't like about heroine is it kills you....
- jayhawk, on 03/05/2008, -2/+6honestly, i looked for McCain's plan on education. he has 1 page with some soundbytes and no vision.
Obama has over 16 pages of details about his education plan.
education is my voting issue and McCain gives me nothing. -
