- SheilaNoya, on 09/28/2008, -6/+181John McCain can't run away from his fervent support of Bush, no matter how many new lies and diversions he comes up with.
As said during the Democratic Convention (paraphrased):
"Where Bush is concerned, John McCain isn't a maverick, he's a sidekick." - gsadamb, on 09/28/2008, -1/+174The most damning part is where he gives the creepy grin while talking about how hard he worked to get Bush elected and re-elected.
- jerell4jesus, on 09/28/2008, -9/+159Congrats! great job.
- robroser, on 09/28/2008, -5/+131Absolutely devastating video. How could anyone question whether McCain will be Bush III?
- bitfreak, on 09/28/2008, -3/+111Awesome! Just Awesome! 100% right on target!
I have used the phrase 'where do I send the thank you card?' many times when referring to the failed policies of the Bush/McCain administration. The last 8 years is fully John McCain's report card, and it's an Epic "F". Disagreeing with Bush less than 10% of the time is not enough John.
Enjoy your retirement. - spoikonen, on 09/28/2008, -6/+79Give it up for TruthandHope. And for Truth. And Hope.
- lockewasright, on 09/28/2008, -1/+60Grandpa Simpson doesn't understand the digital age any more than he understands how to actually bring an aircraft back and land it. He doesn't realize that the things that he says and does can be captured digitally and spread around the world in a matter of moments for everyone to see with their own eyes. Where a politician used to be able to present themselves as someone other than who they are, or say something in one local and then say the opposite in another venue, or vote one way and take a different stance elsewhere, it is not so easy to B.S. us all these days.
- marji80, on 09/28/2008, -1/+52Agree that this is a devastating video. It nails McCain using his own words. Beautiful job.
- paintgrl, on 09/28/2008, -2/+44I agree, a great ad. Not sappy or overtly trying to pull at the heart strings. It shows McCain as he is in his very own words. Excellent.
- ronspants, on 09/28/2008, -1/+38Gotta hope more than just Obama supporters see this and those folks on the fence wise up.
- LooseFur, on 09/28/2008, -1/+33The hilarious thing is that Johnny Mac STILL hasn't figured out that the internet enables voters like us to find and expose his cheap lies - WITH HIS OWN WORDS!!
Talk about a slow learner...
No wonder he graduated at the bottom of his class at Navy.
We cannot afford another 'C' student in the White House, much less a 'D minus" one like McCain. - deadbaby, on 09/28/2008, -1/+31So to be a leader Obama would have to disagree with McCain just for the sake of disagreement? That's dangerous and makes no sense. Wouldn't expect any less from McCain/Palin 08.
- emalen, on 09/28/2008, -1/+28I honestly do not understand how, in the face of overwhelming evidence of their wrongdoing and stupidity, anyone can still think that casting a vote for McCain/Palin is the right thing for this country.
- NWTerriD, on 09/28/2008, -2/+26Well, it's basically McCain talking about himself. So if that's your definition of crap . . . .
- TheFoshizzler, on 09/28/2008, -0/+21Or maybe it shows he's a bit more bipartisan...
- ProfessorSYM, on 09/28/2008, -2/+23Done.
This is the kind of ad that NEEDS to be on the air in these battleground states, so if we can get some money flowing to them we can have a hand in putting McCain's campaign out of its misery. - razalas, on 09/28/2008, -2/+20Ouch, that's even better than their first ad.
- Tex, on 09/28/2008, -3/+20That's why I prefer this ad to some of the other clips I've seen ("McCain can't use the internet," etc). Bludgeon these guys out of office with their own words and ideas.
- cadmiumpaint, on 09/28/2008, -1/+17actually that whole thing from the debate shows that Obama gives credit where its due, and has no problem working with people he doesn't always agree with. Its what leaders do.
McCain showed that he's only capable of finger pointing and talking down to people. Thats what bullies and bitter old men do. - Laminarcissus, on 09/28/2008, -1/+16I'll try to find you some and I'll bring them to you.
-- Sarah - inactive, on 09/28/2008, -1/+16Has the nation gone daffy? Since when is the fact that he was a major Bush supporter shocking news?
- NWTerriD, on 09/28/2008, -0/+14No, what that shows is that Obama is honest enough to admit when he agrees with his opponent. Unlike McCain, who is so dishonest he won't even admit when he disagrees with himself.
But if you actually look at the full quotes of Obama's statements of "agreement," not just the out-of-context snippets in McCain's (as usual) misleading ad, you'll see that in pretty much every case, Obama is agreeing with a general, and fairly noncontroversial, statement that McCain has made, and then going on to show why McCain is wrong on the details.
For example, one of Obama's "agree" statements in the ad is that he agrees Presidents should be prudent in speaking about attacks on other countries. But the rest of that sentence -- the part that the ad cuts out -- is Obama pointing out that maybe McCain's singing about bombing Iran wasn't so prudent.
So as usual, being unable to find any REAL grounds on which to criticize Obama, McCain (1) criticizes him for honesty in admitting when he agrees with his opponent (otherwise known as bipartisanship), and (2) provides misleading evidence to support his criticism. - alapoet, on 09/28/2008, -2/+16Kudos to those responsible! There's a lot of truth packed into this one.
- rawg, on 09/28/2008, -1/+15just donated $100 -- great ad
- ThsGuyRightHere, on 09/28/2008, -2/+15Of course, if any of our friendly right wing folks would like to refute any of the claims in this ad or any quotes that they feel are out of context, they're welcome to do so...
- Tex, on 09/28/2008, -2/+15The submission didn't mention this, but go to:
TruthandHope.org
to help keep this ad running on the air. - funkyloki, on 09/28/2008, -2/+15First, this isn't a news site. Second, the article about the videos was posted in the 2008 US Election category, and being these are about ads being run about the 2008 US Election, it is entirely appropriate.
But you go right on having those meaningless, yet insightful (insight into you, not the subject of the article), thoughts. - jakecigar, on 09/28/2008, -2/+14"wern't so retared"?
- NWTerriD, on 09/28/2008, -2/+13If you like this ad, please go to TruthAndHope.org and donate to buy more TV ad spots for it in swing states! The number of ad buys, and the number of states it can run in, depends on donations.
- inactive, on 09/28/2008, -4/+15I'm John McCain and I approve this message "Palin Nude Ad"
http://sofakingsick.blogspot.com/2008/09/im-john-m ... - AndrewDB, on 09/28/2008, -0/+11Anyone else find it moderately amusing that all the effort John McCain did for Bush in 2000 and 2004, Bush isn't doing ***** for him from the White House?
- jacquesm, on 09/28/2008, -1/+12well, as a foreigner I think that just looking from the outside in McCain is doing everything he can to help Obama win, so why change anything at all ?
If he doesn't actually die from a heart attack before the elections I really don't see what else he could come up with to ensure Obama wins. - jwolcott, on 09/29/2008, -1/+12I just donated $200, and I'm in the UK. This is one way us foreigners can actually contribute to this race, since we're not allowed to contribute directly to the Campaign.
- Tichondrius74, on 09/28/2008, -2/+12Thank you.
- NWTerriD, on 09/28/2008, -1/+11The existence of truthandhope.org allows Obama to protect the purity of his message, while effective infor4mation still ge3ts out to the public. Given the slime of the McCain campaign, Obama has recently and quietly removed his objection to ads by outside organizations.
But honestly, I don't see why you think this is low. It makes a truthful (in spirit as well as in actual words) point, and it makes it using honest evidence. Where's the problem?
Saying something negative about an opponent is not by definition low. If it is true, and it pertains to the issues of the campaign, it is both honorable and useful communication. The problems with McCain's negative ads is that virtually every one of them either lies outright or so twists, distorts, and edits the facts as to create an impression 180 degrees removed from the truth. - sunsetprojects, on 09/28/2008, -1/+11We didn't ELECT him. He stole the elections twice. And voting for Bush, McCain is very anit-American
- sockpuppets, on 09/28/2008, -2/+12Buried just because you're an attention whore with your ►►.
- MacBookForMe, on 09/28/2008, -2/+12Wonderful video composition!
- Genecalypse, on 09/28/2008, -2/+11This ad is actually really scary wow.
- inactive, on 09/28/2008, -2/+11Strong Message.. not sure how he can worm away from that one. Any possible counter arguments to that ad?
- BrendanSheehan, on 09/28/2008, -2/+11The people who'll vote for him come November are the type who'll like the fact that he voted with Bush - just saying.
- cadmiumpaint, on 09/28/2008, -2/+11and we see what it looks like when John McCain gives himself an upper cut to the jaw. ouch
great ad. - franklymister, on 09/28/2008, -1/+10NSFW
...btw - NWTerriD, on 09/28/2008, -1/+10It's not that it's shocking; it's that McCain keeps denying it. He's a liar, and this ad shows thatevery time he claims to be "independent" or a "maverick," he's lying.
- rz8472, on 09/28/2008, -0/+9So I tied an onion to my belt, which was the style at the time....
- sunsetprojects, on 09/28/2008, -3/+11Low is when McCain lies about Obama. It's not low to add truth about your opponent. And how is this Ad low exactly??
- malex, on 09/29/2008, -1/+9How so?
- finn, on 09/28/2008, -2/+10this thing needs to be spread as far and wide as possible..post it, blog it, etc..
of course, try to be kind to the server(s) while ya do it :) - cadeucsb, on 09/28/2008, -1/+9The shocking news is that he is a major Bush supporter and people still want to vote for him.
