- brad3378, on 02/13/2008, -0/+4Condensed version of 2008 Edition of Politics for Dummies
Giuliani: "Terrorism", "9/11", "Radical Islam"
Clinton: "It takes a Clinton to clean up after a Bush"
Obama: "Yes We Can!" Blah blah blah blah "Change" (with a fake southern baptist preacher accent)
Huckabee: "Jesus" (with a real southern baptist preacher accent)
McCain: random censored racist remark
Paul: "Our country is going bankrupt!!"
Unfortunately, only Ron Paul's battle cry is relevant in this election. - nbuster, on 02/13/2008, -0/+3I'm with you on abortion, Kaeryn.
I'm also in a dilemma when it comes to the right to bearing weapons, but that's just me, and I understand both sides on it.
Then again, I'm fully behind Ron Paul on other issues like monetary policy, fiscal policy, and foreign policy to an extent.
I just mainly believe he's the right man for America today. He incarnates the revolution that will give back America its dollar, its role as a model to other nations, and its values. - jonaphin, on 02/14/2008, -0/+3nbuster, Kaeryn, funny enough, I also have trouble siding with Ron Paul on those issues.
He's still the man, though! - nbuster, on 02/13/2008, -0/+3People are so easily amazed!
MSNBC's Matthews: Obama Speech Caused 'Thrill Going Up My Leg'...
What's amazing is that people believe the empty words so much!
Whatever those guys promise, there is NO MONEY in the bank! - unlawflcombatnt, on 02/18/2008, -0/+2Several posters in this thread have accurately stated the true Presidential "issue"—who's the best person for the job in 2008. It's not who you like the most, nor whose philosophy you agree with the most. The issue is who will implement the best policy, regardless of their core beliefs and philosophy.
My choice is Ron Paul—not because I agree with him on issues, nor because I agree with his underlying philosophy. My political leanings are generally "populist," not "libertarian" like Paul's stated leanings. But Paul's voting record, as well as bill sponsorship, are the most "populist" of any of the candidates. By a long-shot.
My choice is Ron Paul because he's most likely to implement policy I agree with—even if I disagree with his exact reasoning. Again, Ron Paul's actual votes are the most "populist" of all the candidates. He has a 100% anti-outsourcing, anti-globalist voting record. He has a 100% anti-amnesty, anti-open-borders voting record. He has consistently opposed every aspect of the Corporate "cheap-labor-lobby" agenda. He has the strongest anti-Corporate Welfare voting record of any candidate. Needless to say, he has the most anti-Iraq War position of anybody. He also has the most anti-Financier policies, consistently opposing commercial and investment bank bail-outs. He consistently votes against the Pharmaceutical Industry's Corporate welfare demands, voting against the Medicare Prescription Drug/Pharmaceutical Industry Welfare Bill. He's vote FOR allowing re-importation of drugs, and FOR requiring the government to negotiate drug prices with the pharmaceutical cartel regarding Part D drug prices. Paul has voted the Un-Patriot Act, and against any bill increasing the government's ability to spy on Americans, or confiscate their personal information.
Ron Paul's most "populist" positions are on Outsourcing and Globalization, despite his stated advocacy of "free trade." Paul has voted against every single "free trade" agreement, in addition to opposing both NAFTA and the WTO. Paul has voted to withdraw from NAFTA and the WTO, and has even sponsored legislation to do so.
Ron Paul is a true champion of the People, not just "rich" people.
He's the only candidate who can truly make that claim.
http://www.unlawflcombatnt.proboards84.com/ - unlawflcombatnt, on 02/18/2008, -0/+2Great article. 2 quotes from the article about Obama are especially insightful:
"Instead of digging dirt to discredit your man, I will instead revert to experience to formulate my judgement on his integrity: Obama voted against the Iraq war resolution, and stated he would OPPOSE funding for the war. He proceeded to vote FOR all of the funding authorizations." (Ron Paul AGAINST the war, and AGAINST all subsequent funding.)
Also:
"Never mistake 'charisma' for 'truth.'
Charismatic persons are like a bottle of good wine! Drink the bottle, it will taste great but you still end up drunk!"
To that I would add:
"Never mistake 'charisma' for 'fortitude'—of which Obama is severely lacking.
Obama hasn't taken a "tough" position on any issue—except those helping his rich donors—like Maytag, who contributed heavily to his Senate campaign—while at the same time closing its Illinois plant, and laying off many of Obama's own constituents.
http://www.unlawflcombatnt.proboards84.com/ - kaeryn, on 02/13/2008, -1/+3Chris "PUPPET MOUTH" Matthews is pathetic. Anything he's for I'M AGAINST. Although I agree with MANY of the points of this article I don't agree that Ron Paul is the answer. Ron Paul takes some positions that I can not put my support behind, like taking away a womans right to choose what happens in her own uterus.
- jonaphin, on 02/11/2008, -2/+3You should put a link to the article you're rebutting:
