- JCDufresne, on 10/14/2008, -8/+101I used to like John McCain even though I often disagreed with him. I am sorry to say I no longer feel that way about him.
- clvngodess, on 10/14/2008, -3/+75It is a tactic of terrorism to feed into the fears and ignorance of the American Public. It is a tactic of terrorism (Lee Atwater knew this by the way) to count on the fact that you can polarize the people with this fear, wrap it in a flag and bible, protect it with guns and a creed and call it American when it's actually nationalism and fearmongering. It's a tactic of terrorism when you look at in a standalone manner. Distractions with this kind emotional impact are tactics of terrorism in and of theirselves. They play right into the psyche of shock doctrine and fear. They destroy the reasoning, the logic and good sense of good people. And in recent days Senator McCain has even had to calm and allay the violent mob mentality of the radical backlash of what this tactic and strategy can have upon a fearful and ignorant peoples. (It was at HIS campaign stumping that people had suggested that Obama was an Arab, a terrorist, that someone else had suggested beheading the Senator! Outrageous!)
Before tactics and strategies like these are employed it is imperative that those who are living in glass houses take a look at their own lives. Is there dirt under your own fingernails? One would suggest that perhaps the "esteemed" Palin who claims Senator Obama is a terrorist take a look at her own background and explain some of her own affiliations. Let ye who have no sin cast the first stone, eh? - klhammy, on 10/14/2008, -4/+64This campaign has really exposed the not-so-hidden sexism and racism in our country. People need to start connecting hateful speech to hateful actions.
- mindfixed, on 10/14/2008, -3/+51McCain was such an upstanding man...a genuine problem solver and sincere. He has been bought by the Evangelical wing and the result is pure evil....which is what they are. The Republican party was hijacked in the 90's and it will NEVER be a true political party as long as the religious zealots wield power over it. We either rid the R party of these creeps or get something new going. In any case, McCain and the Evangelicals have lost my vote.
- stonecircle, on 06/11/2009, -3/+40Take action!
Sign the open letter calling on McCain and Palin to reject the politics of hate.

Don't let McCain and Palin undo the decades spent fighting for civil rights and equality in our country. - psy333che, on 10/14/2008, -3/+40 I think McCain is really reached his lowest point by these tactics and he has lost his soul in this election by allowing others to do his dirty work
I have no respect for the man I did feel sorry for him but I dont even have that anymore . He is a despicable coward and liar - keigwyn, on 10/14/2008, -3/+35McCain is clearly trying to win by ANY means necessary. This is a dangerous precedent he is setting. He is letting us know that he is willing to forgo his honor and everything he has stood for in order to win. We don't need someone who will drop his ethics and beliefs to accomplish a goal. That is not good leadership.
By attempting to assassinate Barack Obama's character, McCain is whipping up a mob to do so much more than that. I would like to think he doesn't realize what he is doing, or he didn't until "He's an Arab" woman confronted him, but I think Palin does understand what is happening, which makes it all the more scary. - Echota, on 01/05/2009, -3/+35Don't forget to sign the petition folks! It's very important we stop this Hate!
http://therealmccain.com/mob/ - showmethemonet, on 10/14/2008, -2/+29For people who claim to love America so much, McCain and Palin sure hate Americans.
- macdoodle, on 10/14/2008, -7/+33who TRIED TO LEAD ALASKa TO SUCCEED FrOM ThE UNION. the USA?
who wont speak out against racism and smears. on the campaign trail
THAT IS NOT AMERICAN.
The Rest of the World calls far right religious fundamentalist extremists with weaponry terrorists.
Like in the dysfunctional family -
This IS psychological Projection!
Palin, make time for a FUNDAMENTALIST ANONYMOUS meeting!
TRY THE 12 STEPS.!
"When Fascism comes to America it will be wrapped in a flag and carrying a cross."
SINCLAIR LEWIS 1935 - PoliticalSky, on 10/14/2008, -5/+31The domestic terrorists are McCain and Palin. I'm actually afraid of my country for the first time in my life. These people are insane and the "mob mind" is getting out of control!
www.cafepress.com/politicalgfx - stillcool, on 10/14/2008, -3/+27I am appalled at the lengths this person will go to be President of these United States. He is not fit to represent 'we the people' in any way. He will gladly destroy our country for his political gain. What he is doing is treasonous.
- skertso, on 10/14/2008, -3/+26Any honor that McCain had has been lost because he at minimum is condoning this behavior. Whether we agree or disagree politically there is no place for racism, sexism or intolerance in our country. It is time for the entire country to work together to fix the problems that we are currently facing and causing more divide is the opposite of what needs to be done.
- inactive, on 10/14/2008, -4/+26The McCain people sure have taken the low road. :-(
- dubyell, on 10/14/2008, -3/+24The politics of demonizing a candidate only divides this country more & at this point we need to come together & learn from all sides on how to help this country get back to respectability in the world & at home.
- wjappe, on 10/14/2008, -3/+23I'm not a Obama supporter but bashing other candidates to gain votes and support is at least very tacky and still the real issues, things that should be discussed, the war, our freedoms, the theft of our personal savings, the Constitution are not discussed. This is a shameful campaign, only the gossip is projected. Racism has no place in politics and our country, I do not believe that he is a suitable president, he does not set a good example for us.
- ncc74656m, on 10/14/2008, -1/+19Commie *****?
Seriously? Wow.
McCain AND Palin are both friends with G. Gordon Liddy, who, unlike Ayers, actually IS a CONVICTED AND ADMITTED UNREPENTANT terrorist. Am I defending Ayers, no, but I most certainly am calling out McCain and Palin on their terrorist friends, one who McCain once said he was "proud of" and who represented American values.
If you don't know who he is, at least look him up before replying.
John McCain better rope in his supporters or cut them loose. He needs to stand up and unequivocally renounce all of those statements, acknolwedge Senator Barack Obama's contributions to the United States of America (note that word, "United"), and inform his supporters that if they truly believe what they're saying, that he doesn't want their support. Or is each and every vote, no matter how it was obtained, so important to you, Mr. McCain? Do and say anything to get the vote, isn't that it, sir? - wrmjr, on 10/14/2008, -3/+18McCain and Palin should be vilified for what they are doing--and not doing--to fuel this kind of partisan hatred. However, I'm afraid the issue goes deeper than the presidential race. This spewing of hatred at those who disagree with you is engendered not in political rallies but through political talk radio and partisan political television, especially the kind that is typified by O'Reilly. It is not enough to disagree with someone anymore; you have to make them your enemy. It is not enough to debate; you must tear down your opposition on a personal level. The far right has been instigating feelings of hatred against the left for over a decade now. It is time to reject the politics of hatred.
- WriterinSac, on 10/14/2008, -3/+18Support our veterans who gave their lives to fight the racist hatemongering of WWII and vote for Obama.
America, show those white hooded haters the door this election. - eagee, on 10/14/2008, -2/+16Palin is about as Un-American as it gets! McCain should be ashamed of himself for appointing such a vapid mindless puppet for his VP candidate.
- jleland, on 10/14/2008, -3/+16There is something to fear "besides fear itself" and that's hate. I'm honestly shocked and disgusted by the irresponsibility of the Republican ticket as illustrated by this short video clip. There's negative campaigning which is bad enough, but when you cross the line to inciting hate and potentially violence, that's a whole other thing. In my opinion, we've come too far not to speak out against this kind of thing.
- whoreable, on 10/14/2008, -3/+15Even if he stops the hate, it will be due to the fact that it did not work not because it is wrong.
- cptshamrock, on 10/14/2008, -2/+13"The politics of failure have failed"
- blissable, on 10/14/2008, -4/+15http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-gaypriest1 ...
From Monday''s LA Times...quote from Father Geoffrey Farrow in a sermon coming out (literally) against Prop 8 in CA.
"I know these words of truth will cost me dearly," he said. "But to withhold them...I would become an accomplice to a moral evil that strips gay and lesbian people not only of their civil rights but of their human dignity as well."
The priest was subsequently stripped of his salary and benefits, and ordered to stay away from all church communities he had served.
So very sad. Please vote NO on Prop 8. Bigotry hurts everyone. McCain/Palin support a similar hateful inititiative in AZ. - BradOFarrell, on 10/14/2008, -2/+12Damnit, McCain. Look what you've done you ***** idiot.
- d2002, on 10/14/2008, -2/+12He is only destroying himself.
- Nahanter, on 10/14/2008, -2/+12McCain is showing his true colors with all this "Terrist" fear mongering and racist innuendo that HE allows her to SPEW. This is nothing but an extension of the Bush Administration and it's tactics of FEAR, Fear all the time. Be Afraid Be Afraid this is what the Rethuglians have been running on since 911.
Also if you truly look into McCain and his past he is a very ruthless person who will say and do almost any thing to get what he wants, including denying Vietnam MIA Families the right to know what happened to all those Soldiers who WERE left behind after signing the Peace Accords with the North Vietnamese! He has never and Will never champion the rights of our Veterans!
The only way you can truly vote is for Obama if you truly feel that this is a great Nation where ALL men are created Equal! If not take your ugly rhetoric else where!! - stonecircle, on 06/11/2009, -0/+9The woman who stated, "He's an Arab", told an AP reporter after the rally that she still believes Obama is a terrorist and a Muslim. The damage is done and it will very difficult to put the genie back in the bottle.
- Carl306, on 10/14/2008, -1/+10I honestly feel disgusted after watching this video.
- Stlblues001, on 10/14/2008, -1/+10It just makes me sick to watch what is being spewed out of the mouths of people that call themselves Americans. Great video compilation.
- sugarazor, on 10/14/2008, -1/+9Obama's the only one who has mentioned race during this campaign?!
http://mediamatters.org/items/200810130009?f=h_lat ...
-On October 5, Los Angeles Times staff writer Peter Wallsten reported that Bobby May, treasurer of Virginia's Buchanan County Republican Party, wrote a column for the Virginia newspaper The Voice in which he lampooned the platform of "Barack Hussein Obama." May wrote that Obama would "[h]ire rapper Ludacris to 'paint [the White House] black' " if he won the presidency.
-Rep. Lynn Westmoreland (R-GA) called Barack and Michelle Obama "uppity"
-Geoff Davis (R-KY) referred to Obama as "boy"
-comments made by Rep. Steve King (R-IA) to a Spencer, Iowa, radio station and published in a March 8 article in Spencer's Daily Reporter: "I will tell you that, if [Obama] is elected president, then the radical Islamists, the al-Qaida, the radical Islamists and their supporters, will be dancing in the streets in greater numbers than they did on September 11 because they will declare victory in this War on Terror."
Just a couple examples for you.
And yeah, lots of sexism towards Sarah Palin... who can forget that liberal media's sexist questions like "what about this corruption scandal you're involved in?" or "what newspapers do you read?" - eagee, on 10/14/2008, -2/+10Palin is about as Un-American as it gets! McCain should be ashamed of himself for appointing such a vapid mindless puppet for his VP candidate.
- kurtwinter, on 10/14/2008, -1/+8Why should I? The more ***** hate mongering comes out of his out of control mouth, and that of his rabid followers, the further he sinks. The goal here is to get someone into office who will fix the last 8 years of incompetent government.
- ScienceDoc, on 10/14/2008, -2/+9Now we know who they real McShame and Palin are. They just don't see America like we do. All they see is hate and greed.
- chrissku, on 10/14/2008, -2/+9Come November 5th the republican party will hold very little power in Washington for at least the next 4 years. Maybe in that 4 year time frame they can rid their party of the religious zealots that control things. If they don't the losses will widen in 2012.
- crickey23, on 10/14/2008, -0/+6It's people like you that keep this country from moving forward. Maybe you haven't noticed, but gays, lesbians, and transgenders/sexuals are people too! Would you turn someone away, even if they needed help, just because of their sexual orientation? That goes against good Christian morals, as far as I know. I know I wouldn't turn anyone away. They're no different from everyone else.
Christians (most of them, anyway) are the biggest problem in this country. They're hypocrites. They try to force their belief on you. They're intolerant. They don't consider you a person if you're not Christian. I hate it, I've been abused and hurt by Christians before. I wish they would realize what they do to others, and how their ridiculous morals and ideals ruin our country. - Eugenitor, on 10/14/2008, -3/+9COUNTRY FIRST!
We'll screw up the rest of the world later. - keigwyn, on 10/14/2008, -0/+6I agree. They think they have the right to claim who is an American and who isn't. That way, they can condemn anyone they like and say "See, they're not American, it's okay that I say these horrible things about them." Ta-da, the politics of hate.
- akrondude, on 10/14/2008, -2/+8can i tell him to end his political career, instead?
- Cadicus, on 10/14/2008, -1/+7There aren't any untrue news stories about Palin.. there is just the truth. We pointed out she's inexperienced.. She gaffed in an interview or two.. and she lost credibility. Don't blame Dems for an un-vetted VP candidate.
- inactive, on 10/14/2008, -0/+5I'd have to agree with Cadicus. If you actually do the research about Palin, you'll find that it is all true.
However, with Obama, a complete different story. - goodbick, on 10/14/2008, -0/+5Infantrygrunt, please direct me to a single instance of Barack Obama, or his campaign playing the race card. A single time.
- banderwocky, on 10/14/2008, -0/+5It sure feels like it has the same undertones to nazi hate speeches we had to watch in history class years ago.
- masterkeedu, on 10/14/2008, -0/+5It has to be the lowest form of pandering when you appoint such a poorly educated and spoken person as VP just for votes. Every 'Joe Six-Pack' and 'Soccer Moms' in America is suppose to trust their country with this duo. No Thanks!
I want my president AND vice-president to be SMARTER than me, to posses an education and intelligence.
Isn't that why we entrust them in the first place? - nick1971, on 10/14/2008, -0/+5On the 30 January 1933 Adolf Hitler came to power. The following legislation was passed because a terrorist attack on the parliament building led to the Reichsbrandverordnung compare this to the US PATRIOT act to support my argument. Germany's society is set up against racism. We have viewed the US as our beacon of tolerance. Do you really want to disappointment us? We need you USA as the gatekeeper of democracy. Are you really giving up your role of the light. .
- knightcrawler75, on 10/14/2008, -0/+5Yea i agree he is a damn socialist. Just like that time he nationalized two very large banks. Oh wait....that was someone else.
- apena89, on 10/14/2008, -2/+7Tthis Obama hatred he and/or his supporters incite are going to hurt the country if/when Obama wins the election.
Stupid politicians. - davidrools, on 10/14/2008, -0/+5I thought it was too vile to be possible, but I'm starting to think that "Country First" really implies something like: "remain loyal to the white-american tradition and voting for a black man would be like turning your back on your country"
- ncc74656m, on 10/14/2008, -0/+5I have an idea. Let's take screenshots of ALL of the people in these videos shouting terrorist and all sorts of other terrible things, and post them to a website: "WhiteSupremacistsForMcCain.com"
- trickstertales, on 10/14/2008, -0/+5It is dangerous to generalize about any group, which is certainly what I see certain people on McCain's side doing about "liberals, commie fags," showing their ignorance of what the terms even mean since they seem to think that name calling is a viable strategy and answers the issues, as when certain followers, incited especially by Palin, label Obama without checking any of the facts. I've lived through the McCarthy era, J. Edgar Hoover and suppression of the civil rights movement, the assassinations of JFK, MLK, Jr., and Bobby Kennedy, watched the government vilification of AIM, the framing of innocent people, lived through Nixon and now the stripping of our rights under George W. Bush. Not to generalize, but these were Republicans, conservatives, every one who worked to deny people their rights and used the same tactics that McCain and Palin are now using. Not only that, but I've seen violence come out of this particular campaign here in Denver where the Democratic Headquarters has had their windows smashed four times by bricks with "maverick" written on them. I listen to the news, and if there was any such violence against a Republican headquarters, you know we would have heard. So while there are fanatics of all stripes, right now they certainly seem to be flocking to McCain as you can be sure, if there was any of this level at an Obama rally, Fox News would be all over it along with the other conservative owned media outlets. And for those conservatives who think the media is liberal, look up who owns them and who they gave their money to in the last 4 elections, including this one.
