Teamster Prez Says No To Arctic Drilling, Yes To Future

thinkprogress.org — At a summit on good jobs and clean air in Oakland, CA, yesterday, Teamsters President Jim Hoffa announced that "We are not going to drill our way out of the energy problems we are facing." Saying no to Arctic drilling, Hoffa embraced a future of jobs built on clean, renewable energy for the 1.4 million Teamsters in the United States.

  • dunderballer, on 07/24/2008, -1/+1I don't think it would benefit the environmental movement to have the slimy Jim Hoffa on their side. You may wish to ignore his desire to reduce anti-organized crime oversight of the Teamsters Union. But, it would be hard to ignore the fact that he would throw environmental regulations under the double-trailer, extended sleeper cab semi if regulations ever threatened the trucking jobs or manufacturing jobs that he represents.
