- EndAntiSemitism, on 11/09/2009, -64/+694Absolutely disgusting. I was very well familiar with the fact that bigots and anti-semites alike tended to gravitate toward the fringe right-wing/libertarian segment of the political spectrum (the demographic of these "tea parties"), but to see them openly flaunt these kinds of putrid utterances ("hollowcost") still makes my blood boil.
- lantza, on 11/09/2009, -17/+509"Elie is a whiner. She should stop her whining. You didn't not complane when the libs were calling Bush Hitler."
This one might be my favorite. Since, you know, Elie Wiesel is actually a guy. - JDLamb88, on 11/09/2009, -20/+345Attacking Elie Wiesel?!??! The author of Night?! The greatest book I read as a kid?!?!? *****. YOU.
- ParadiscaCorbas, on 11/09/2009, -28/+346Atrocious.
I don't know how any of these people can sleep at night. How they can look themselves in the mirror on any given day. - Maddoktor2, on 11/09/2009, -38/+335What do you expect from a group that uses nazi tactics straight from Germany's 1930s playbook?
Disgusting filth, the lot of them. - reuscel, on 11/09/2009, -21/+290Every time I think Right-wing rhetoric has sunk to its lowest depths, they find a way to keep digging.
- Syric, on 11/09/2009, -12/+212Explain to me how this makes sense (even putting aside for the moment the disgusting ignorance and bigotry:
Teabagger: "Health Care Reform is like Nazi death camps!"
Wiesel: "You've got no idea what you're talking about."
Teabagger: "STFU Jew! The Hollowcost is way overblown"
Or in other words:
-This current issue is like that bad historical event!
-That historical event was way worse than this.
-That historical event wasn't that bad! - Nakket, on 11/09/2009, -9/+190It's as if people can't even think about anyone but themselves.
What's a conversation like between them?
"Who does this Jew think he is? Death camps? HAH! I'd take that any day over a public option..." - ThsGuyRightHere, on 11/09/2009, -17/+186But you have to understand, with that crowd ideology trumps all. With them it's better to be an ignorant ***** who doesn't like socialists rather than a reasonably intelligent, generally okay guy who thinks providing health care for all doesn't sound like a bad idea. That's how you arrive at the conclusion that someone as dumb as Palin or as uninspiring as Hoffmann could be an electable leader: no characteristics come into play save ideology. And we wonder how Bush got elected.
- JDoorjam, on 11/09/2009, -13/+171BREAKING STORY: Anonymous comments on the internet are sometimes rather offensive.
- sgerwel1985, on 11/09/2009, -8/+154Wiesel made it through auschwitz... I am sure he will be able to handle these "teabagger's" little shouting match.
- EndAntiSemitism, on 11/09/2009, -10/+120Yeah, i'm sure it was a bunch of libruuuulls that registered politico accounts for months in advanced, posted teabagger themed posts for months at a time, just so they could be used to "discredit" the movement should the opportunity arise /s
- NorthMass, on 11/09/2009, -35/+144i like how you tossed Ron Paul in there when there is no proof any of these people support Ron Paul, and even if they did that doesn't mean that they speak for Ron Paul supporters.
Ironic that someone who likes Ayn Rand generalizes a whole group of people as a collective instead of individuals. - defectDS, on 11/09/2009, -0/+95I LOL'd at "complane."
- lolerskate, on 11/09/2009, -15/+106Teabaggers are cute, kinda like a retarded monkeys, but at least retarded monkeys dont talk.
- clone206, on 11/09/2009, -15/+106Wow, just awful. Must be the height of ignorance to suggest that somebody who actually went through the holocaust doesn't have more insights into it than one's lazy, pampered American self.
Stay classy, teabaggers. /s - TobiasParker, on 11/09/2009, -17/+107No true libertarian is anti-semetic. We believe in freedom and equality regardless of race or gender. It isn't our fault neo-cons hijacked our movement. Many of us are using knowledge of true libertarian ideals to combat this, i cannot speak for everyone of course.
- btschul, on 11/09/2009, -17/+106Libertarians aren't far right or anti-semetic, and from what I've seen, aren't largely associated with the tea parties anymore.
- oldhick, on 11/09/2009, -31/+116Ayn Rand was an idiot.
- ThsGuyRightHere, on 11/09/2009, -8/+90You tell me Galt: Do/did you consider Palin to be electable? How about Hoffmann? If someone's dumb as a rock but has a similar ideology to yours, how do you weigh them as a leader? Answer those questions and you'll answer your own.
And hell, you may very well be an exception to my generalization. There certainly are a handful of intelligent tea party goers who want to see the government spending reduced and have said so consistently even during the Bush years. But they/you are the minority and have been co-opted by the lunatic fringe. Enjoy. - ninjaofpatience, on 11/09/2009, -22/+99I don't have the words for how despicable this is. I know these comments where posted on-line and everyone seems to develop aspergers when they sit down behind a keyboard. But just damn, where the hell are the mods on that site? Or is making anti-Semitic attacks the norm and encouraged on there? Hell even digg would pull those down and ban the posters.
- ThsGuyRightHere, on 11/09/2009, -10/+87Respectfully, no. If I can't use a phrase like "dumb as a rock" and have that mean something to you then I can't say I see a point. I do personally think you're overly optimistic about the composition of the tea party movement with respect to small 'c' conservatives versus ***** idiots (another term which I'll politely decline to define) who are just pissed off that they lost the 2008 election, but that's really just a difference of opinion. You think the majority of the tea partiers are intelligent, reasonable small 'c' conservatives, and I think the majority are ***** nuts with no coherent message other than"socialism is bad", with your crew sadly representing a minority. I suppose at some point it would be eye-opening to try and capture that breakdown in a poll, but I honestly can't think of a way to ask "are you a nutjob" and get an honest answer.
- algaeturd, on 11/09/2009, -5/+65Discredit?
You mean like discrediting the facts of the Holocaust and ridiculing survivors by comparing health care reform to it?
If this is your argument, then I'm REALLY interested in hearing your opinions on the status quo.
Because what you refer to the Status Quo, I refer to the lowest common denominator and the Fox News thug army.
I think you're very, very confused here as to what side you're really supporting. And yes, when it comes to topics like health care reform being compared to the Holocaust, there are most definitely sides:
educated vs. uneducated.
That's it. Pick one. - KingGorilla, on 11/09/2009, -0/+59double negatives ftw!
- oldhick, on 11/09/2009, -6/+60I just thought I'd try making ridiculous and unsupported comments like you do Galt. I'm sure you're quite interested.
But like you Galt, Ayn Rand also struggled to present logical arguments. After being isolated by her philosophical contemporaries and unable to rebuff many of her criticisms, she often resorted to petty name calling and making unsupported assertions. Her cult like status gave her the ability to say many things without backing them up.
But I still enjoy some of her works. - osabr22000, on 11/09/2009, -4/+55One of the dumbest questions ever from this article:
"I see many Jews in Hollywood making filthy ,sinful movies-what happened to the good, Family movies??"
You want to know why they don't make as many "wholesome" movies anymore? Because they don't sell so well right now!! Blame the people watching more questionable movies, not those that meet the demand.
You want to know why they don't make buggy whips instead of automobiles like they did in the 1800's?? BECAUSE THEY DON'T SELL SO WELL NOW. Honestly, how closely related are the parents of the guy who asked that question?
Calling people "democraps"?? What does that solve? How about if I start referring to the GOP as Grumpy Old Pricks?? Which I won't... but still. - misimiki, on 11/09/2009, -14/+64And some Americans wonder why the rest of the world laughs at them.
- Logicexe, on 11/09/2009, -9/+59"I don't support "providing health care for all". Does that mean I'm an "ignorant *****", who isn't a "reasonable intelligent generally okay guy"?"
Yeah pretty much. You have a selfish, "I got mine, ***** you" attitude and you're willing to ignore the dozens of other countries with tax funded universal health care that manage to provide more treatment to more people at a lower cost than the American system.
You still might be a "generally okay guy" though. I've met lots of people who's political opinions I found repugnant but I still got along well with them. - historyfan91, on 11/09/2009, -13/+60are these tea baggers insane or just retarded?
- oldhick, on 11/09/2009, -4/+49Is this you Galt? http://www.myspace.com/galtshrugged
I didn't make that one up, that's why I'm asking. - oldhick, on 11/09/2009, -6/+48Yeah, I'm a HUGE Campaign for Liberty supporter... Kudos for creating a profile for me. That was pretty good. I guess that means I touched a nerve if you had to go create a profile in my honor! I'm glad that I could have that impact on you.
I'm not a Ron Paul guy, but I was. I donated money, bought the books, and then got over it. I've changed my mind many times in the past and probably will for the rest of my life. ;) - algaeturd, on 11/09/2009, -12/+53These people are disgusting and uneducated. The fact that they compare health care reform to the Holocaust is proof positive that most of these idiots know nothing about history or the facts on the reform. They're dumb enough to parrot what they hear on Fox News and that's it. Lowest common denominator of human beings with the least amount of intelligence acting as some kind of thug army to promote what they've been dumb enough to be brainwashed into believing.
Pathetic. How much lower can these human turds go? - oldhick, on 11/09/2009, -4/+44As you get older, you'll say all kinds of things. A scholar, I am not. Proven wrong and often mocked, I am.
"In economics, sociology, and political science, a decision or situation is often called rational if it is in some sense optimal, and individuals or organizations are often called rational if they tend to act somehow optimally in pursuit of their goals." - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rationality
There are also many philosophical books you can read on rationality as well that will dive in much deeper. - uberchaoslord, on 11/09/2009, -12/+51Whenever you read comments from religious nuts, employ the "West Wing" approach to countering them. Ask when they should begin stoning their wives and neighbors for random things that the bible condemns, but said religious nutter probably does daily. (like trimming sideburns, or touching dead pig (football, pork, etc...)
- Scottamus, on 11/09/2009, -3/+42yes
- EricSchC1, on 11/09/2009, -5/+42"I don't support "providing health care for all". Does that mean I'm an "ignorant *****", who isn't a "reasonable intelligent generally okay guy"?
No, implying that there's a "Jew World Order" makes you an ignorant *****. - TreeGoat, on 11/09/2009, -3/+40@aadyss. "I have no idea who Weisel is and honestly could care less"
You should find out who Elie Wiesel is, he's an important teller of history. Here's the Wikipedia entry http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elie_Wiesel
I'd recommend his book "Night". Read that and it kinda puts this whole idiotic dem vs lib over health care thing into perspective. - djm19, on 11/09/2009, -14/+50Teabaggers comparing obama's healthcare plan with nazi policy is so offensive to me. I've run into these guys a few times at various locations with their leaflet of obama with a hitler mustache, and I just have to ask them to please enroll in some history class. I seriously question them if thats why we entered WW2, if thats the horror that Hitler brought to the world. I know there must be some parallel between expanded medicare and tossing jewish babies fom hospital windows onto nazi bayonets.
- NorthMass, on 11/09/2009, -26/+61"Come on. Both you and I know that these people voted for Ron Paul or at least supported him. "
No, we don't. And even if they did, that doesn't mean they speak for everybody. To assume they do would mean you are not thinking of people as individuals, but instead as a giant collective with the same thoughts, which Ayn Rand abhored, which was my point.
"Ayn Rand hated libertarians. What's that say?"
I know she did, but her economic philosophy was still basically libertarian, whether she wanted to admit it or not. And what you did in generalizing a whole group of people as anti-semitic is collectivism, which Rand rightfully spoke out against.
Am I saying no Ron Paul supporters are anti-semitic? No, I know some are, just as some McCain supporters were and just as some Obama supporters were. - Alli3388, on 11/09/2009, -3/+38Lots of people have studied this subject, and everyone except the self-admitted jew-haters agree that it is impossible to deny the holocaust. Period. We don't all have to study it to know the facts.
- sizzzzlerz, on 11/09/2009, -7/+42Why would we liberals want to destroy the GOP and the teabaggers (they're different?)? They are doing a perfectly good job themselves.
- LonelyTylenoL, on 11/09/2009, -2/+37More like burying.
- Slicklines, on 11/09/2009, -10/+44Get all your talking points in there? Good for you! You get a gold star!
- Speed, on 11/09/2009, -2/+35aadyss, don't you even try to compare Eli Wisel to Sarah Palin. Last I checked, Palin didn't survive the holocaust, nor did she decide after enduring something like that "I think I'm going to start a charity to help people, and raise awareness, so this never happens again"
- dshPls, on 11/09/2009, -12/+44Alex Jones and Ron Paul jacked your movement way before the Neocons did... I applaud you for calling out extremist ***** who give libertarians a bad name though.
- ChristmasPoo, on 11/09/2009, -5/+36And monkeys like to throw their feces around just like tea baggers
- JCEEZ, on 11/09/2009, -3/+34Well the holocaust actually happened...*fact*. It's not the same as Santa Clause deniers or something.
- Bilbobaggins, on 11/09/2009, -5/+351/2 incredible amount of ignorance + 1/2 incredible amount of stupidity = 1 teabagger
- dobbmcrowell, on 11/09/2009, -1/+30LOL at complaining about being lumped in with people who compare everything to the nazis, then illustrating your point by comparing it to the nazis. thats just priceless.
don't blame us, we're not holding up that dachau banner. we just happen to be gathering underneath it.
also, re: your comment "support the status quo" ... isn't health care reform about abolishing the status quo?
you're just full of hypocrisy. - detcade, on 11/09/2009, -2/+30It's the same thing as pro-lifers saying "life is precious" and then in the same breath "let people irresponsible enough to have accidental children deal with their problem and raise the kids themselves"
