- soulmantim, on 11/05/2007, -0/+27Those who are concerned about our interest rates and wasteful spending, Time and CNN just called you "Nerds".
- jron, on 11/02/2007, -2/+23Now that we have their attention, let's scare them...
http://www.thisnovember5th.com/ - drmattbarney, on 11/05/2007, -1/+20Time really didn't do their homework. Sure, Dr. Paul supports the gold standard, but his freedom message is much, much broader than that. His expertise isn't a narrow Austrian Economics base, it's all aspects of freedom. One could argue a big part of his popularity has to do with the fact that he wants to bring all the troops home, and that wasn't brought out in this article at all.
- XxtraLarGe, on 11/05/2007, -1/+12This article is one of those backhanded compliments. The focus is entirely on the wrong things, it's a blatant attempt to marginalize him. I don't know that I've ever heard Ron Paul say he doesn't expect to win the nomination, though he has said that he won't run as a third party candidate.
- caplist, on 11/05/2007, -1/+12The author left out this little nugget:
The grandiose and unrealistic plans for policing the world will eventually collide with limits imposed by reality. Our commitments seem endless. It’s estimated we have over 700 bases around world, in 130 different countries. Intervention creates endless commitments and ongoing unintended consequences that obligate our military and even future generations to fight wars without the slightest involvement by Congress. Those who advocate the traditional American policy of nonintervention are ridiculed as “isolationists” by the authoritarians who want the U.S. to decide all disputes. Yet it’s their interventionist’s policies, especially in the last six years, which have isolated us, reduced our allies, and increased our enemies. We are more ostracized and isolated in the world than ever before. - GoldenAgeReason, on 11/05/2007, -0/+9I guess common sense and reason are now so apparently lacking out there that it is considered nerdy. Either that or certain Time reporters really don't get out that much and observe actual Americans. Rather than being nerds, I think its more likely that elitist Time just looks down its nose at an American public they choose to paint as mostly stupid and uninformed. So who is your preferred candidate, Joel? Hillary Clinton or some other candidate who shares your opinions about We The People? Pretty sad.
- ddasbach, on 11/05/2007, -0/+8I don't think you could call any of this article a compliment. The author writes that Paul supporters are nerds, Paul's ideas are eccentric, and then quotes Frank Luntz saying that Paul's grassroots support is nothing but crab grass.
- dreepa, on 11/02/2007, -0/+5Nice. MSM slowly paying attention.
Keep spreading the word.
Big rally in NH this saturday.
HUGE Rally in Philly Next Saturday
www.ronpaulhq.com - ZWarren69, on 11/02/2007, -0/+4The fact they interviewed Frank Luntz lets you know this was nothing less than a hit piece. The back handed remarks about supporters is a bitch thing to say. I would suggest everyone write the writer to give him a piece of your mind. Do not stoop to his childish level, though. His name is Joel Stein, if you cant get his email write TIME, itself. ***** these guys. Nerd? I can only imagine what his bitch ass looks like.
- seks03, on 11/05/2007, -0/+4Heres some tools to help spread the word, http://www.ronpaulmessage.com/ I will be releasing a new DVD in a few days with the Jay Leno interview
- ProfNo, on 11/05/2007, -0/+3This article is definitely not positive. They try, at every turn, to discredit Ron Paul and his supporters. To quote:
"they just like him because he's the most anti-Establishment of all the candidates"
While this is true (for most people), this is not where his support really comes from...it comes from the fact that he wants to protect what this country was founded on: Liberty. Not just the catch-phrase abused by politicians, but the actual ideal. Why is this so hard to understand?
Another question, how can this article be called journalism? Time should be laughed at for even thinking about publishing something like this. - R123Allison, on 11/05/2007, -0/+3Time is just another gate keeper. This revolution is going to be won through peaceful methods such as Ron Paul, or it is going to get very ugly such as gate keepers hanging from light poles. I am sick of this New World Order. We don't want blood shed, but it may just come to that.
- DragonGirl724, on 11/02/2007, -0/+3c'mon TIME magazine you got "The Person of the Year" right here!! :)
- LordSkywalker, on 11/02/2007, -0/+2I've been angry that CNN hasn't had any articles on Ron Paul, but was glad to see a link to this article on the CNN.com/Politics page. The only difficulty is getting as many people to hear the message in a fairly short amount of time.
- jimmyjoe1975, on 11/01/2007, -0/+2They left room for criticism and there was a level of snarkiness/humor. But overall I feel the uninitiated will come away wanting to know more. Even Luntz gave him a great line with the only candidate to say "F___ Washington" comment. A 72-yr old obstetrician and congressman giving the bird to Washington? That will make people want to know more.
- voisine, on 11/01/2007, -0/+2Reminds me of Mugabe when his economic advisers told him to stop printing so much money and not to enact price controls. He called them "bookish economists" and dismissed their advice. Now they have 8000% inflation and 85% unemployment.
- spiritofharvest, on 11/02/2007, -0/+2God I'm bored. What a useless article full of opinion and basically no facts.
- ganeshohm, on 11/05/2007, -0/+2Proud to be a nerd, and a young one at that. That's me in the picture! And, I'm not a college kid. I'm a 36 year old business owner, advertising executive, and newly-turned Republican! Go Ron Go!
- chupavacas, on 11/02/2007, -0/+2I was entertained reading this article. Can you believe Frank Luntz, when describing Ron Paul's attitued, uses the same line that Penn and Teller used on him : "Hey Frank, f**k you!
- inactive, on 11/05/2007, -0/+1buried because of JOEL STEIN.
- scudiac, on 11/02/2007, -0/+1Great exposure for Ron Paul. But, with quotes like this:
"Politics might be rock 'n' roll for nerds, but the nerds aren't supposed to be quite this nerdy. "
You have to wonder; who the hell Time is hiring to write their articles? - ZWarren69, on 11/01/2007, -0/+1The campaign has changed the rally, shooting itself in the foot....
