- Parisjune, on 09/03/2008, -4/+42Best speech by any politician this campaign. Ron Paul 2008!
- Jimmyb207, on 09/03/2008, -4/+36I watched his speech live on the Campaign For Liberty website. He spoke from the very bedrock that America was founded on. I am even now more proud of the fact that I will be voting for Ron Paul. It's so obvious that the establishment cares not for America, but for the almighty dollar that will make a handful of globalists that are the puppeteers of Obama and Mcnuts obscenely rich.
- Minarchian, on 09/03/2008, -4/+31Well over 10,000 showed up. So many came that they opened the two wings to the sides and allowed people in for free to those areas.
It was a roaring crowd that shamed the RNC convention across the river, which was nothing but a contest to see who can make the crowd snore the loudest. - inactive, on 09/03/2008, -1/+25Really? A congressman with over 30 years experience was being forced to pick his pass up at the door? That's just insane.
- chmcarro, on 09/03/2008, -3/+25What I find to be the most interesting is the people that claim he is a "kook" or of the "fringe" never attack him on the issues when he claims that my party, the Republican party has lost it's way from limited government, balanced budgets, and a foreign policy of non-intervention. Why would they choose to neglect his 1.2 million voters and allow Joe Lieberman to the RNC? Baffling, isn't it?
Even those who support John McCain who called in on CSPAN had nothing negative to say about Ron Paul. - klasifyde, on 09/03/2008, -4/+24The rally was fantastic. (viewed it on cspan-2) Wish I could have been there! Ron Paul is indeed a great statesman!
- inactive, on 09/03/2008, -3/+22Hero. Ron Paul is an absolute HERO.
http://www.chuckypita.com/ron-paul-is-my-hero-amer ... - laurxyz, on 09/03/2008, -3/+21watched it on CSPAN-2. best speech he's delivered yet.
we've come a long way, there's no turning back. - anarcurt, on 09/03/2008, -2/+20Anyone catch Jesse Ventura. He gave an excellent speech as well.
- inactive, on 09/03/2008, -3/+19Ron Paul's Campaign for Liberty!
http://www.campaignforliberty.com/ - inactive, on 09/03/2008, -4/+17No matter who you are. No matter what you believe. There is always that nagging part of you that yearns for freedom. You've never heard about it until now. You've never grasped the concept regardless of the rhetoric spewed by either party.
Now you've got the taste...good isn't it? Don't let the fire die out regardless of what line of ***** you're fed. Freedom isn't free and comes with a heavy price. Our FF realized that and most lost everything they had to bestow it. They were selfless since they figured they were doing what was necessary for their offspring.
Once we realize that it's about more than ourselves and wish to do something for OUR children, maybe they too can realize the freedoms that we have never had! - HxChris91, on 09/03/2008, -3/+16I thought it was great that CSPAN-2 decided to air the whole thing live, our tax dollars at work!
- Minarchian, on 09/03/2008, -1/+13Just a heads up :)
"Brian Lamb, C-SPAN's chairman and CEO, conceived of C-SPAN while working at Cablevision, a cable industry trade magazine, as their Washington D.C. bureau chief. C-SPAN was created as a cable-industry financed, non-profit network for televising sessions of the U.S. Congress and other public affairs event and policy discussions. Bob Rosencrans, a cable industry pioneer, was alone in providing the initial seed funding of $25,000 to start up C-SPAN.[1] It receives no funding from any government source, has no contract with the government, and does not sell sponsorships or advertising. It strives for neutrality and a lack of bias in its public affairs programming."

"C-SPAN is a private, non-profit company, created in 1979 by the cable television industry as a public service. Our mission is to provide public access to the political process. C-SPAN receives no government funding; operations are funded by fees paid by cable and satellite affiliates who carry C-SPAN programming."

They are actually an organization that liberty minded people can get behind. - Minarchian, on 09/03/2008, -1/+13Lieberman speaking at the convention is proof positive that the Republican Party is not the party of limited government, balanced budgets, noninterventionism, privacy rights or common sense.
- inactive, on 09/03/2008, -0/+12Oh, he'd be a blast as potus, nobody would mess with him.
- inactive, on 09/03/2008, -2/+13It was great watching this entire event. Ventura said something very striking. "Don't let anyone tell you that you wasted your vote if you vote your conscience."
I'm writing in Ron Paul. - inactive, on 09/03/2008, -3/+14rotflmao
- Clugenheim, on 09/03/2008, -3/+13http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=srmf84tphgo
Here's part of the line at the book signing. There were many, many more people at the actual event. - Zuggy, on 09/03/2008, -1/+9If you vote for Obama, you're voting for big government
If you vote for McCain, you're voting for big government
If you vote for Paul, you're voting for the small government that our forefathers envisioned
I know who I'm voting for (#3) - insomniac8400, on 09/03/2008, -1/+9Too funny that Ron Paul a congressman from Texas can draw a bigger crowd than the entire republican party.
- Skooma714, on 09/03/2008, -0/+8Voting for the lesser of two evils is still voting for evil.

Thanks for bringing this issue up. It helps the liberty movement by showing how legislation should be in Congress. - chmcarro, on 09/03/2008, -1/+8From the bill,
-- "there shall be allowed as a credit against the tax imposed by this subtitle an amount equal to the sum of the amount paid by the taxpayer for insurance which constitutes medical care for the taxpayer and the taxpayer's spouse and dependents..." --
From looking back at your post, to summarize, it seems that you disagree with this clause because you only get a tax refund after you spend money from your HSA.
Well why should you get a tax refund for money that you haven't spent yet? You should only receive the refund once the money has been spent on health care.
I guess I don't see the problem. - Minarchian, on 09/03/2008, -1/+8Because I know your type nimrod.
No matter how much arguing or simply trying to explain you will continue to fight and pull crap to keep it going.
Read what I posted and do your own fricken homework for once. - jus1haz2, on 09/03/2008, -2/+9So we just write in Ron Paul on the ballot?
- spyd3rweb, on 09/03/2008, -3/+10Damn you ***** that voted for McCain in the primaries.
- h4mx0r, on 09/03/2008, -1/+8I don't really like either in particular, but Ron Paul should be nominated instead of McCain for the republicans.
I mean, who even supports McCain? - diargasm, on 09/03/2008, -3/+9The only candidate for REAL CHANGE was Ron Paul. Too bad the sheep couldn't see that.
- Minarchian, on 09/03/2008, -2/+8H. R. 3343 would:
* Give you a 100% refund from your taxes of every dollar you spend on medical care, including insurance premiums.
* Make it easier for your employer to deposit the money it now gives to the health insurance companies into a Health Saving Account that would belong to you
* This money would come to you tax free, you could use it to fund your health care and your insurance premiums
* This means your health insurance would belong to you, not your employer
* You would have the money to pay small medical expenses with your Health Savings Account, which would allow you to reduce your insurance premiums by buying a Major Medical Plan, instead of a Cadillac Plan
* You would also earn interest on the money in your Health Savings Account, tax free, you would get this interest instead of the insurance companies getting it (collecting interest on premiums is how the insurance companies make their money these profits could be yours instead)
* Plus, you would become your doctor's customer, instead of the government or your insurance company being your doctor's customer
* This would place the consumer in charge, creating competition that would lower prices and improve quality
You shouldn't have a problem with this....unless you're a Socialist who thinks Government knows better than you how to take care of yourself. - phuzzy3d, on 09/03/2008, -1/+6Yeah, there will be an area to write that in, or you type it if your state has electronic voting machines.
- fmello, on 09/03/2008, -2/+7Was this article the only thing that CNN had to offer as coverage for the Rally for the Republic? Did they have any interviews or coverage by Wolf Blitzer today? If one article is all the CNN can muster, then it's just another glaring highlight of how much the MSM sucks!
- chmcarro, on 09/03/2008, -0/+5Hey, thanks for being polite. I'm going to go read the bill and come back with my thoughts. I Hope to discuss it with you respectfully, with sources.
Here's the link to what he is referring to, http://www.govtrack.us/congress/billtext.xpd?bill= ... - ggnictee, on 09/03/2008, -1/+6(note: I am not a Ron Paul supporter (sorry guys)) but:
Good for Ron Paul! Getting people excited enough about how our country is run to go to Minnesota is great.
I hope the libertarians get their 10% (I think this is the % you need to get Fed. funding as a party). A little noise is always good, I think.
Good luck Ron Paul people (and even Nader people ...and everyone else. Whoever you vote for, just vote!) - busta, on 09/03/2008, -2/+7NO WAY are you FOR REAL did this ACTUALLY HAPPEN?
- Kahnza, on 09/03/2008, -2/+6I was at the rally all day. Had a great seat off to the right of the podium.
Needless to say it was EPIC. - inactive, on 09/03/2008, -1/+5yes
- WarnerK, on 09/03/2008, -0/+4Argh, the guy's YouTube profile is missing parts 4, 5, and 6. Maybe he'll add them later.
- THX8612, on 09/03/2008, -1/+5Well stupid, had you taken the time to at least click through both stories. You would have seen that they are two different sources. Let me put it simply, two different authors, makes for two different points of view on the same topic.
- kc8yds, on 09/03/2008, -1/+5why not?
- inactive, on 09/03/2008, -1/+5Wouldn't it be better if everyone would just shut up and believe exactly as you do?
????
i.e. Why are you making fun of something that is attempting to encourage democracy and debate when there is so much of the opposite going on right now? - fuzzmeister, on 09/03/2008, -0/+3I have to hope that was a joke. Just because you like two people doesn't make them politically compatible (and it says something about how little you know of politics).
- mediocrebadguy, on 09/03/2008, -2/+5write-in ron paul
- inactive, on 09/03/2008, -1/+4@Laminarcissus:
What you are getting at is the exact principle at this core of this bill. There doesn't need to be a federal income tax stealing our money.
Paying people back for health care expenses would prevent against utter bankruptcy in that it would require people to go to the doctor to make claims. Giving people incentive to visit the doctor and at the same time making it affordable - what a horrible idea! Also understand you don't actually gain money from this process since you already paid the money on your income taxes.
And... since you can't claim more than your net income taxes total for the year, guess what? You don't ever go further than breaking even. To top it all off, the max payout for 2008 would be a little over $6,000 annually considering social security tax is also a limitation listed in the bill and only the first $102,000 of a persons income is taxed for it. - Rekutyn, on 09/03/2008, -0/+3You get Real Player or Flip4Mac.
- inactive, on 09/03/2008, -0/+3VOTE your conscience!
- WarnerK, on 09/03/2008, -1/+4Here is his speech. Low quality, but the only one I found-
part 1 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGONDUxUxc4 - inactive, on 09/03/2008, -0/+2Income tax is explicitly permitted in the constitution. Ron Paul has never once said that it is illegal and for you to imply that shows your true colors yet again.
You exist to discredit Ron Paul? What a complete and utter failure you are! You've done so well:
www.campaignforliberty.com
I'll go do my "banner waiving" or whatever it is that dooche bags such as yourself think that true patriots do to inspire liberty and let you waste time being the laughing stock of Ron Paul digg articles, you racist loser you. - inactive, on 09/03/2008, -0/+2
"If not, then when has Ron Paul ever supported the government stepping in to "prevent" anything or, worst of all, the government increasing its power to "require" people to do anything? He (when fund raising) has been a constant advocate for getting the government out of people's lives. If only his bills actually reflected that then you wouldn't even know my username."
This is utterly derided. Ever heard the nickname Dr. No? I'm sure you can find a 2,000+ examples of said legislation here:
http://www.votesmart.org/voting_category.php?can_i ... - inactive, on 09/03/2008, -0/+2You want substance in this debate, how about reading more? How about not insisting that Paul is a racist, ad hominem?
http://www.ontheissues.org/2008/Ron_Paul_Health_Ca ...
Paul in fact has said many times that he wants this issue to be entirely up to the state. This reform is nothing more than a reform at the federal level to help ease the tax burden due to soaring income and social security taxes which affect everybody, including the small guy, that likely won't ever be realized.
This bill boils down to one thing: tax refunds for health expenses. You're telling me tax refunds are not constitutional? Again, get real.
With Paul's background in medicine it's really hard to not concede that there is a lot of wisdom in his legislation, even though it may have it short comings. That's the thing, despite all the critics of Paul saying he refuses to compromise you have bills such as this that prove that he is willing to compromise with more main-stream ideals. - Scaryclouds, on 09/03/2008, -0/+2Except for there totally opposite political views beyond the Iraq war.
