- CunningLinguist, on 02/16/2008, -16/+61I was going to comment but it's hard to type through all of the ash left from the cross that @himself burned on the page. Wow, go back to polishing up your steel toed boots, fix the broken appliances on your porch, get the 'ole white hood dry cleaned or whatever it is you do when you are not too busy date raping your cousin.
- bearsandbulls, on 02/16/2008, -4/+45A superdelegate that votes against the people is not democratic, and should kick Himself in the nuts.
- scootscr15, on 02/16/2008, -2/+42Can these superdelegates even fly? no? I guess they're not so super after all.
- Bunkyo, on 02/16/2008, -6/+40I once thought that America was a republic, then I learned that it was democracy. But then I learned about superdelegates and now I know that America is not even a democracy. It's all very sad.
- xTRUMANx, on 02/16/2008, -9/+35Let's all report this idiot. He had the account since August 2006 and his about section makes him sounds like a jackass.
- rickst13, on 02/16/2008, -7/+30"The first national election I could vote in was the 2004 presidential election. At the time, I voted for Ralph Nader. I could not bring myself to support Kerry, and definitely was not going to vote for Bush. My plan this coming election was again, to vote for a candidate from the Green Party. Something changed though. I learned of a man named Barack Obama. He convinced me to vote Democrat this election if he gets the nomination.
I believe Mr. Obama will set this country on a positive course for the future. I want you to reread that sentence several times. It is the most important thing you will get out of this. As a young democrat, I don't just want a president who is good now. I want a president that will help change the direction of this country. Barack Obama understands young people better than any other candidate out there. He understands technology, something very important to me. No other candidate seems to have the same grasp of understanding of technologies such as the internet.
You can probably imagine how hard it is for a young politically active citizen like myself. I am constantly given a choice of candidates that I cannot get behind. While older people in the party may like these candidates, it is extremely frustrating to me, a student, a student that understands his peers and the younger population. Barack Obama is the only candidate that connects with me. He is the only candidate that connects with us. Sure, if you want a president now who will be just another democrat, vote for Mrs. Clinton, but if you want a candidate who will bring in a new generation of voters willing to change this country for the better, I ask of you to please change your vote to Barack Obama.
Thank you for your time and you service to this country"
I just thought I would share. - nihilite, on 02/16/2008, -5/+25It's bs and you know it; don't try to hide being semantics. if you want to talk issues, talk issues. if you criticize anyone by simply accentuating their race and heritage without any mention of issues or fact, then yeah, we're probably going to call you out on it. That is simple bigotry. No different than if every attack on mccain was simply calling him a geriatric cracker hillbilly.
- trekkie, on 02/16/2008, -9/+29Obama's campaign was the first political campaign I've ever donated too in my almost 37 years of being an American.
- HellDonut, on 02/16/2008, -1/+18Their power is rendering your vote irrelevant.
- mrASSMAN, on 02/16/2008, -2/+16Yeah. He's the most scientifically friendly candidate in the election.
- jakdracula, on 02/16/2008, -3/+15The United States is a Republic, not a Democracy. It even says so in our Pledge of Allegiance.... 'and to the Republic for which it stands...'
- johnjohnstonson, on 02/16/2008, -6/+18I miss John Lennon.
- KnightWhoSaysNi, on 02/16/2008, -1/+12It also says "Under God" so it is not very reliable.
- reignbow, on 02/16/2008, -10/+20Starting your article with "I have just received an e-mail from the Obama campaign with instructions..." is maybe not the best way of persuading people . It sounds like a little bit like "comrades! I have just received a communique from Moscow with instructions how to proceed against the class enemy"
Note: I do support Obama :D - palimend, on 02/16/2008, -0/+9"Integrity counts over Charisma."
And Hillary lacks both. - Evanmontegarde, on 02/16/2008, -1/+9Bring up how Al Gore won the popular vote in 2000 - Yet the electoral college system put Bush in office. I imagine several of the current superdelegates were rather ticked about that one. Don't let it happen again.
- inactive, on 02/16/2008, -3/+10It's funny how people get worked up about politics - almost like they think it's important or something.
- taquitohater, on 02/16/2008, -3/+10Honestly people, quit corrupting the definition of the word spam. Spam is an unsolicited message, usually automated and sent in bulk. This is digg, a social aggregate site wherein people vote stories up or down. An article you don't like ISN'T SPAM.
- ljohnblaze, on 02/16/2008, -1/+8Howdy (from Texas),
As a customer relations employee working for Apple, I've come to understand the importance of making customers feel important and influential in our company's business practices.
As a young American citizen, I believe it's even more important to feel as though I have a voice in our country's political processes.
The idea that a small handful of citizens known as super delegates might determine our next presidential nominee is an interesting one, given the long series of caucuses and primaries our country has participated in thus far.
All that I ask is that my voice and the voices of my fellow Americans be heard this time around, so that like the dedicated customers of a successful business, the rest of our country's citizens continue to invest time and energy into our very important political process.
I hope that our delegates and representatives truly consider the interests and viewpoints of 'the people' this time around. - mmmmmbiscuits, on 02/16/2008, -3/+10The Grand Diggquisitor.
- ncairns, on 02/16/2008, -4/+11Well that was certainly an amusingly retarded non sequitur, but do you actually have a point?
- completerobot, on 02/16/2008, -0/+6Yes, you retard. That song was pro-woman and pro-black people. Stop trying to paint him as a racist.
- nihilite, on 02/16/2008, -2/+8too true. I will respect his right to say it, but @*!% him for saying it.
- nihilite, on 02/16/2008, -5/+11i love it - you lead in with a semantics.
Why shouldnt we raise taxes? We are at war. Would you rather borrow money from China to pay for it? This is unbelievable. Republicans used to be about fiscal responsibility, now the party wants to spend hundreds of billions on the war and put it on the credit card. - Cyrus042, on 02/16/2008, -0/+6But then you realized it was a Federal Democratic Republic, right? And then you realized that that political parties are organizations and they regulate themselves and how they decide a nominee, right? And then you realized that maaaaybe you're not done learning.
- cmost, on 02/16/2008, -4/+10I'm sorry, but I shouldn't have to pander to some "super delegate" in order for MY vote to count. What's wrong with this country? No wonder only a small fraction of the voting public actually bother to vote!
- manicallday, on 02/16/2008, -2/+8There's a difference between voting for a war, and voting for so the troops have enough funding so they don't get slaughtered. Is that not simplistic enough? You really can't have troops in your state, fighting a war without the proper funding. Then he would have have dead constituents, since many of the troops over there are from his district.
- mrASSMAN, on 02/16/2008, -4/+9I made my first donation too, and it's the first election I'm old enough to vote in.
- warrenterr, on 02/16/2008, -0/+5It was never ment to be a democracy!
- inactive, on 02/16/2008, -0/+5Well *****, my interest in downloading it just completely diminished...
- mmmmmbiscuits, on 02/16/2008, -1/+6More talk, fewer PDF files.
- Synova, on 02/16/2008, -0/+5That wasn't added in until 1954 though.
- trghpy, on 02/16/2008, -3/+8uug, I think I'm getting lung cancer trying to pay attention to the politics in their smoke filled rooms.
- DavidGX, on 02/16/2008, -8/+13Reported.
- mmmmmbiscuits, on 02/16/2008, -7/+12YEAH, EXCOMMUNICATE THE HERETIC UNBELIEVER!!
- aleone31, on 02/16/2008, -0/+5You know when I googled Obama - thats not the URL I got. I got some lame video proclaiming we this and we that, with no skip button. I'm reading now.
- nihilite, on 02/16/2008, -1/+6it's what is wrong with the democratic party...... this is something they determined on their own.
- rdoger6424, on 02/16/2008, -1/+6whenever I hear the phrase "Smoke-filled room", I think of a bunch of stoned superdelegates passing around a joint (maybe some brownies) and talking about who should be president.
- KJSatz, on 02/16/2008, -0/+4You say he should have waited...why? Because it's possible Clinton could have more pledged delegates?
That's the difference between the Clinton campaign and the Obama campaign (besides lobbyists, telcos, cluster bombs, torture, partisanship, etc.). Clinton will do anything to win no matter what. Obama would bow out if Hillary had more pledged delegates. But she won't. - aapala, on 02/16/2008, -2/+6Yeah, actually I'm in pretty much the same boat as you. 04 was the first election I could vote in and I went with Nader. Although, at least in Iowa, where I voted, Nader wasn't listed in the Green Party, but I can't remember what party he was in. I'm finding it hard to not support Obama in the coming election. It's a distinctly different feeling than 2004. I wanted so badly to like Kerry, but I just didn't and couldn't.
- rickst13, on 02/16/2008, -2/+6That "Skip" button must be hard to find...
I clicked twice so you don't have to: http://www.barackobama.com/issues/ - yossarian24, on 02/16/2008, -0/+4I just finished mine, I wonder if they localize the letters
- SteveIsTheDude, on 02/16/2008, -2/+6"She is tough".... Tough people don't cry on TV. Obama is tough AND he is immune to GOP attacks because he is an intellectual and all of their attacks are stupid talking points that he can dismiss in a few sentences.... on TV.....without crying......
- ncairns, on 02/16/2008, -8/+12Refusing to tolerate intolerance is not itself intolerance, no matter how badly all breeds of prejudiced ***** wish it were.
- inactive, on 02/17/2008, -0/+4Now, just a statement of fact. Farrakhan can spew all sorts of anti-Semitic diatribes; it is ignored. Sharpton and the Black Panthers can convict the Duke lacrosse players in the street because they are white but when their innocence is beyond a shadow of a doubt, there's nary a peep of apology. Black rappers can spout all sorts of vile comments about blacks, whites, police, etc., but if a Caucasian were to say the same thing, he'd be a racist. It's a dual standard, that's all, and has been for many years. Before that, the pendulum was pointed the other way and people of color typically were the ones whose guilt or fault was presumed. Neither is right.
- tyrione, on 02/16/2008, -0/+4It's a Democratic Republic.
- wphj, on 02/16/2008, -3/+7You realize the "crowd" is the american citizens that vote?
Are you seriously saying that the superdelegates should ignore the voters and choose a candidate against what everyone else wants?
Heard of democracy? The greeks thought it up, and we're pretty fond of it her in the "US of A" so kindly look it up or shut the hell up. - wild, on 02/16/2008, -1/+5That article is a bunch of misconstrued information. Politicians hold fund raisers to help each other out a lot. And that number combines records from all the way back 2005. He didn't just start handing out thousands of dollars in the last few weeks to buy superdelegates like you are trying to make it sound.
Get your facts straight and stop spreading this *****. (And there is probably a reason Boston.com took down that page.) - jkbowman, on 02/16/2008, -0/+3Done.. I borrowed some ideas from Lessig
