- NorthMass, on 07/17/2009, -7/+42Obama wants to give more power to the Federal Reserve by making it a super regulator. This is the same Federal Reserve that doesn't have to tell anyone where it lent $2 trillion of your money! This shows Obama could care less about transparency, and only cares about protecting Wall Street. A few meaningless websites Obama put up doesn't change this fact, and he obviously could care less about our input after LAUGHING at us for voting up marijuana legalization as a question we wanted answered.
Fed refuses to tell anyone where they lent $2 trillion

No one dislikes Obama's policies more than me, but McCain was all for bailing out banks.
The right vote in this election was for a third party candidate, whether it was Barr, Baldwin, McKinney, or Nader. - NorthMass, on 07/17/2009, -4/+29"My Administration is committed to creating an unprecedented level of openness in Government."
That is why he wants to give the Federal Reserve more power, even though they already have the power to refuse to tell anyone where they lent out $2 trillion of our money!
http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&am ... - motivatedguy, on 07/17/2009, -6/+27People are finally rubbing the, "change" out of their eyes and starting to see Obama for what he is; A politician.
- jwolcott, on 07/17/2009, -4/+21If you want transparency and openness, open a ***** window, cuz you ain't ever getting it from any government.
- mpalmeire, on 07/17/2009, -6/+23Oh diggers, how your opinion of your Messiah has changed so much in the last few months.
- BearKill, on 07/17/2009, -4/+19How can the approval rating still be > 50% for this self-worshipping neomarxist? How hard do people need to be hit over the head with evidence that this guy is a disaster for the country? Perhaps when Obama voters become taxpayers they will wake up...and with the trajectory of government spending, this is inevitable.
- gfryesc, on 07/17/2009, -0/+15my favorite broken promise of his was to post all major bills on the internet for 5 days before voting. he hasn't done that for a single bill.
how's that hope and change working out for you? - smacksaw, on 07/17/2009, -0/+12I'm also waiting for transparency and open government, but don't editorialise in the headlines. It's a good enough article about polling to stand on it's own. Comments about transparency and open gov't are what the first comment is for as the submitter. It's your article, YOU get to write the first comment AND the headline. This article is clearly about polling.
Grudgingly dugg. - NMRgentleman, on 07/17/2009, -4/+15Obama has the bulk of the media in his pocket, which means he can say one thing while doing the exact opposite, and get away with it. Remember, his radio address just after spending nigh on a trillion dollars talked about the importance of having a balanced budget! No one should be able to get away with hypocrisy like that.
- smacksaw, on 07/17/2009, -2/+13NorthMass has it right, but I want to add something for you as well.
Wake up.
Look, it's time to start judging people based upon their actions, not their ideology. Would you let me come up to you, sucker punch you, kick you in the balls, mug you and rape you and then forgive me if I said I thought you were someone else and that I'm sorry? Not unless you were retarded, you'd fight back.
Well, stop being a tool and nut up. McCain and the Republicans are no different than the Democrats when it comes to fiscal irresponsibility. You are being suckered, mugged and raped by these corrupt politicians. You are simply picking your poison. Obama can put us in debt by INVESTING IN US AT HOME or McCain and other Republicans can give the money to corporations and to defence. Whether Obama taxes us to death or McCain borrows it, we are going to be poorer and have less purchasing power.
You are enabling your party to lie to you by not demanding they "walk the walk" when they "talk the talk." I voted for Obama with my eyes open. I know he's going to raise taxes. I know he's going to put us in debt. I have no illusions about that stuff. But for you, it's not ILLusions, it's DElusions.
If you really care so much about spending, budgets and debt, I suggest you educate yourself on non-Republican or Democrat alternatives who want to lessen the size and scope of government and won't just pay lip service to it like the Republicans do. God gave you a wonderful brain so use it! - noupsell, on 07/16/2009, -9/+20http://www.whitehouse.gov/the_press_office/Transpa ...
MEMORANDUM FOR THE HEADS OF EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENTS AND AGENCIES
SUBJECT: Transparency and Open Government
My Administration is committed to creating an unprecedented level of openness in Government. We will work together to ensure the public trust and establish a system of transparency, public participation, and collaboration. Openness will strengthen our democracy and promote efficiency and effectiveness in Government.
Government should be transparent. Transparency promotes accountability and provides information for citizens about what their Government is doing. Information maintained by the Federal Government is a national asset. My Administration will take appropriate action, consistent with law and policy, to disclose information rapidly in forms that the public can readily find and use. Executive departments and agencies should harness new technologies to put information about their operations and decisions online and readily available to the public. Executive departments and agencies should also solicit public feedback to identify information of greatest use to the public.
Government should be participatory. Public engagement enhances the Government's effectiveness and improves the quality of its decisions. Knowledge is widely dispersed in society, and public officials benefit from having access to that dispersed knowledge. Executive departments and agencies should offer Americans increased opportunities to participate in policymaking and to provide their Government with the benefits of their collective expertise and information. Executive departments and agencies should also solicit public input on how we can increase and improve opportunities for public participation in Government.
Government should be collaborative. Collaboration actively engages Americans in the work of their Government. Executive departments and agencies should use innovative tools, methods, and systems to cooperate among themselves, across all levels of Government, and with nonprofit organizations, businesses, and individuals in the private sector. Executive departments and agencies should solicit public feedback to assess and improve their level of collaboration and to identify new opportunities for cooperation.
I direct the Chief Technology Officer, in coordination with the Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and the Administrator of General Services, to coordinate the development by appropriate executive departments and agencies, within 120 days, of recommendations for an Open Government Directive, to be issued by the Director of OMB, that instructs executive departments and agencies to take specific actions implementing the principles set forth in this memorandum. The independent agencies should comply with the Open Government Directive.
This memorandum is not intended to, and does not, create any right or benefit, substantive or procedural, enforceable at law or in equity by a party against the United States, its departments, agencies, or entities, its officers, employees, or agents, or any other person.
This memorandum shall be published in the Federal Register.
BARACK OBAMA - Waiting2awake, on 07/17/2009, -1/+12Do you even KNOW what the two party illusion is? (With respect)
McCain was never there to win, he was there to make Obama seem better. He was, in wrestling terms - a jobber.
Isn't it strange that the democrats, who for the last 8 years couldn't make a sandwich without screwing it up. Couldn't speak without inserting their foot into mouth. While the republicans, couldn't do anything wrong. Then, just as the American people were catching on to what the world was saying about Bush, Cheney and state of politics in America.....
BAM. Obama. Suddenly, and over night, the democrats couldn't do anything wrong, and the tight-ship republicans couldn't open their mouths without a foot jumping in.... Strange huh? How the entire system seemed to pull a 180 for no apparent reason.
The election should be an example how to manufacture consent. Run an old crotchety, out of touch white grampa - off of the young, hip, down to earth black man........all the while drilling the mantra that things have to change(Both from the republicans and democrat sides) .... and the people never looked any further than the facade.....
Those that did, nothing Obama has done/hasn't done is a surprise. - Waiting2awake, on 07/17/2009, -2/+13Words. That is all they are. Words. Care to take a look at what Bush said his Admin was going to be like? Does what he wrote, have anything at all with what they did? Has any politician in the last few decades?
Then why would you believe that what Obama writes? Because he is change? Or because you are still hoping? - LouisCipher777, on 07/17/2009, -0/+10see, at least bush didn't promise transparency. he told us secrets were secrets.
- getlogicated, on 07/17/2009, -3/+12Big mistake letting him in office. After all the ***** we had from Bush a good percentage of Americans are tired of all the political lip service. Saying things the people want to hear and then behind closed doors everything that was said is reversed.
More and more people will begin to wake up and realize it's not about republicans or democrats. It's not about black or white. It's not about who is politically correct or not. It's going to come to a point where we are so controlled, over taxed and deprived of the false paradise we've been allowed to sustain for so long, the "New American Dream", that the general public simply WILL NOT stand for it. What I mean about the "New American Dream" is the idea we've had about spending money that we don't have and the governments need to spend money that just plain doesn't exist.
When masses start realizing this, this is when the 2nd American Revolution will really start. Watch for it, prepare for it, and wait for it. The signs are all there. America may be partially brain dead from all the "reality" shows, but when it comes time to decide whether to buy a tank of gas or put food on the table the people will awaken and will not stand for all the corruption and self interest the government has acquired over the last 100 years. People will realize "I should really think about who I vote for" instead of voting for the trendy one. - NorthMass, on 07/17/2009, -1/+10ragingflamerboy - I opposed Bush and Obama.
- inactive, on 07/17/2009, -3/+11Obama is a puppet. all presidents are puppets. he appoints goldman and sachs boys into government positions. what does that say about Obama? corrupt. from chicago. of course.
- funkedup, on 07/17/2009, -6/+14Obama is worse than Bush...
- LouisCipher777, on 07/17/2009, -0/+8no, no, no, you misunderstood him. he said "Hope FOR [pocket] change"
- Waiting2awake, on 07/17/2009, -0/+8Not anti-Obama, Anti-Statist. It is the same thing that was going against Bush - just many were conned by that "change" mantra. However, that mantra is now tired, and they are starting to look around and see that in all the ways that matter - there has been precious little change, and a huge whack load of S.A.I.E.W (Same As It Ever Was) - and shockingly - they are pissed that their good faith was ***** on by a politician. Again.
Don't confuse this with something specifically against Obama, it is merely Obama is just part of the same problem that has America in a death grip. - Cputerace, on 07/17/2009, -2/+10Why do you think he wants Healthcare rammed through ASAP? If it doesn't happen by august, it wont happen on his watch.
- 4AntiStupid, on 07/17/2009, -0/+8Yea, I agree I don't think it would have been that much different with McCain and the deficit. It would be different as far as the threats of Health Care reform and other regulations suppressing employment by making people too scared to take on the risk. Basically the two major parties in the federal government are just different degrees of left wing.
- inactive, on 07/17/2009, -6/+13Obama the only change is the skin color, otherwise same old scummy politician
- mc88, on 07/17/2009, -0/+7Stop letting the political machine and mainstream media steer your vote to "THE ONLY TWO VALID CANDIDATES".
Stop drinking the "Two Party" Kool Aid.
Stop handing control of every aspect of your life to the Federal Government.
Let the states keep the lion's share of education, transportation, health care, and public lands funds. The states can more efficiently administer those funds to take care of the roads, poor people and our environment. When you launder the money through the Federal Government first, they take a huge piece of the pie before allocating money back to the states.
The Federal Government is overstepping it's bounds, and people keep voting for it to encroach even further into our lives. - Unreal411, on 07/17/2009, -1/+8more and more people are "waking up"
- OuijaCat, on 07/17/2009, -21/+27Looks like the public is beginning to realize buyer's remorse and that they just voted away their future for a one-term novelty. Maybe McCain wasn't perfect, but he wouldn't have pissed away trillions of taxpayer dollars in just his first few months.
On the bright side: Obama is responsible for the huge ratings boost of the Fox News Channel and will make it much easier for the Republicans in 2010 & 2012. - staticfire, on 07/17/2009, -0/+6I cant beleive your being buried
Anyone too stupid to see through the two party illusion needs to just die - Waiting2awake, on 07/17/2009, -4/+10In a word. No. He doesn't care about the people any more than any of the other politicians have.
Just because an animal is a different colour, doesn't make it a different animal. - swoopdog, on 07/17/2009, -4/+10what about REAL DEMOCRATS like Dennis Kucinich or REAL CONSERVATIVES like Ron Paul!?
- Waiting2awake, on 07/17/2009, -2/+8Unless he goes independent, he is also part of the problem. Don't get me wrong, I like the guy. I think he is a fine man with ethics and morals inline with the majority of common sense. However, that said - he is but a man, and can not on his own control the monster that has made DC home.
- BearKill, on 07/17/2009, -2/+7Hard to believe that support has risen among republicans...everyone I know who is republican despises everything this charlatan stands for. The poll is suspect and therefore his true approval rating is likely to be south of 57%.
- Gusbob, on 07/17/2009, -0/+5Question is, motivatedguy, can you stand Nader?
- getlogicated, on 07/17/2009, -0/+5only if people knew it was a false flag attack.
- Crazyredivan, on 07/17/2009, -0/+5"When masses start realizing this, this is when the 2nd American Revolution will really start. Watch for it, prepare for it, and wait for it. I'm all for Revolution, but the parameters you set up here are already the reality for many families in America right now, and have been for a while.
This country is far too satisfied by sitting on its ass in front of a computer and bitching to get up and actually do any Revolutionizing. And tea parties don't count. I'm talking good-ole-fashioned rioting in the streets, taking over what is ours-type Revolution.
You are correct: it's not Dem or Rep, not black or white, but people have allowed themselves to get pigeon-holed so easily, are so willing to believe the rhetoric, that we all have lost our way. The "American Dream" is supposed to be giving your children a better future, working hard and then enjoying the fruits of your labor.
The issues we allow ourselves to be consumed by (gay marriage, miles per gallon, abortion) are indicators of how far we have strayed from "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." We forgot that we're all in this together; we've forgotten to take care of our fellow man. We've become angry and set in our ways, butting heads over every little thing.
A President is not going to change this. True change is from the bottom up, not the top down. But I just don't see the passion necessary on a large-scale to do anything about it.
Just my opinion. - nirvanix, on 07/17/2009, -0/+5Ever take a look at Obama's administration? It's Wall Street II. Might as well move the oval office to Goldman Sach's headquarters.
- lilamae, on 07/17/2009, -0/+4Transparency is anathema to Congress. Sorry, folks, waiting for transparency in Congress is like waiting for Godot.
- allfatherblack, on 07/17/2009, -0/+4I hate to do it, I really, really do, but the ONLY politician I have EVER seen who I EVER thought would make an actual difference (for better or worse) in the government is... sigh... Ron Paul...
- zoomaKabu, on 07/17/2009, -1/+5I assume by "lent" you mean "gifted"
- swoopdog, on 07/17/2009, -1/+5maybe your wonderful Obama can get some Audacity and Change something already
Ron Paul! - LouisCipher777, on 07/17/2009, -0/+4at least bush didn't run on a platform of transparency.
government secrets are no surprise, but don't say one thing an ddo another.
and flamer, you sir are a racist. trying to play the race card when people don't give a damn about race only makes you look stupid and look like the very thing you are calling other people. - LouisCipher777, on 07/17/2009, -0/+4idiots like you are the reason this country is circling the drain.
- BotchaMcCoola, on 07/17/2009, -0/+4For that kind of thing you need a Ron Paul super patriot statesman type.
- LouisCipher777, on 07/17/2009, -0/+4one of the best reforms we could have in this country would be to remove the controls that prevent third parties from being valid and locking us into this two headed one party system.
- PopcornDave, on 07/17/2009, -0/+4None of the above would have been better with none of the candidates being allowed to run again in that cycle.
Although I do wholeheartedly agree that it's about time a 3rd party candidate get in and drain the Washington swamp. - LouisCipher777, on 07/17/2009, -0/+4and better still than the "blame bush" mantra you idiots keep spewing when your messiah does something wrong.
- LouisCipher777, on 07/17/2009, -1/+5he cares about the people who REALLY put him in office, like ACORN, the SEIU, etc.
- LouisCipher777, on 07/17/2009, -0/+4it would have been the same only slower.
