- deadbaby, on 10/11/2007, -7/+72McCain may not be as dumb as Bush but he's easily as dangerous if elected President.
- wayback09, on 10/11/2007, -5/+62In other news, water is wet. Geez! With his talk about staying in Iraq and attacking Iran, it's hard not to believe no one was bailing out on him at that point. Way to bury yourself there Johnny!
- omnithought, on 10/11/2007, -2/+51McCain is a turncoat coward. The Bush clique must have some serious dirt on him to make him bend over like he did. I can't believe a guy who survived being a POW could buckle to those bastards.
- fooboarder, on 10/11/2007, -4/+50As soon as McCain started courting the christian fundamentalist vote a while back his campaign was over.
- knightblade2oo4, on 10/11/2007, -2/+38I'm hoping Giuliani follows suit.
- fuzzmeister, on 10/11/2007, -2/+37"Bomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iran"
- McCain
*shiver* - reddevil3, on 10/11/2007, -5/+39So sad....he was a guy who was respected by everyone...now he's just a sell-out. I'm glad he's going to have to give up soon.
It's going to come down to Giuliani and Romney for the GOP...*shudder* - redrock34, on 10/11/2007, -1/+34The guy wants to stay in Iraq, enough said.
- Rossoneri22, on 10/11/2007, -0/+27I have always thought the exact same thing. How can a man who was shot/stabbed while having his shoulder/knees broken after his plane was shot down be so cowardly? I liked the guy before he did a complete 180 on everything that actually made me like him.
- joshmcconaha, on 10/11/2007, -1/+25It's actually more than just those two now. Over the course of the day, his deputy campaign manager, political director, and finance director (who has only been there a few months), also left...

- ecorona, on 10/11/2007, -2/+18Open Letter To Senator McCain,
You have now seen that there is a price to pay for trying to be all things to everybody. It's too bad that you were willing to sacrifice your integrity in hopes that you'd get to sit in the big chair. We are grateful for your service to this country. I am just sorry you had to fight the quagmire that was Vietnam. You should have learned from that experience and resisted the demands from the Neocons that you "play ball" with what you knew was best for the country. I do not know if you were sincere when you talked about being against extremist agendas. What I do know now is that it no longer matters politically. You've sold yourself out and we all see it. If there is a good freedom-loving man inside you as you claim, then help us restore the freedoms we've lost. Not for political gain because that is now just a dream, but for the country. - afruff23, on 10/11/2007, -4/+17Don't forget Randall Paul!..Wait, what was his name again?
- ricree, on 10/11/2007, -1/+13I still can't figure out how he managed to pull off the primary win, but let's face it, he lost to Bush at a time when Bush's approval ratings were already plummeting. John Kerry was about as electable as a sack of mud. Perhaps even less.
- smoothmedia, on 10/11/2007, -5/+16McCain is a centrist at heart, its a shame that he pandered to the far right to try to win the nomination. I used to like McCain, and probably will again when he finally wakes up.
- lordmike, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9Rudy isn't...
The problem was that McCain bashed them in 2000, then suddenly got all buddy-buddy with them... talk aobut flip-flopping! - brufleth, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9He played the "I'm just like GW" card in an attempt to pick up those supporters. The problem is he didn't really appeal to born agains and he alienated all the people who used to think he'd make a pretty good commander in chief (myself included) because of his political and military career. So he went from being a moderate with a reasonably good platform to being a war monger. I can only assume it was a strategic move by the RNC. His campaign managers couldn't be that dense could they?
- maz2331, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8McCain is just one of those guys who's too "moderate" to make anyone happy, and just "moderate" enough on too many issues to royally anger many. At least an "extremist" (as is known in US Politics, not world-wide!) only has to worry about pissing off about half the population, and can play to a party base. McCain really hosed up his chances with especially the Immigration bill disaster (tip to Republicans: never, ever under any circumstances even consider thinking about possibly going near putting your name on a bill with Ted Kennedy!).
He just came across as a bit too elitist for the Republicans to deal with. - pintomp3, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8i think not wanting to pull out of iraq is what did him in. most of the republican candidates pander to the evangelicals. almost none support a woman's right to choose or support gay marriage, 3 even deny evolution.
- madfrogurt, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7Here's to hoping that once his hope for being president dies off, he'll return to actually fighting those who pander instead of lining up along side them.
- kazamx, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Maybe he was just telling us he was cold while he wrote the comment. This could be the new signature :-)
*cozy warm* - CriticalImpacta, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Ah McCain you've done it again :P
If your Australian you'll probably get that unless they have McCain corn in America... - romistrub, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Algorithm (no pun intended) accounts for more than diggs. Mostly like accounts for digg rate.
- afruff23, on 10/11/2007, -4/+8I think you mean
*shudder* - smacksaw, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4I think it's sad. My personal feelings on this (and not supported by his actions as of late) is that this is not who he really is. He's always been one of the more left-leaning of the right. He was just running on the right and would have governed from the centre. I think that many of the problems facing us today would have turned out differently if Bush didn't steal 2000 from McCain.
If I had to pick a Republican other than Paul, McCain would have been in my top choices because my theory is that once elected he'd tell all of the puppet-masters and overseers to go ***** themselves and do it his way. - lordmike, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4He was much more articulate and presidential in the primaries.. once the general election campaign came around, he became petulant mush-mouth...
Yes, he was a terrible candidate... he hired the guy who ran Dukakis' campaign for goodness sake... that alone should have disqualified him... - smacksaw, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4LOL...McCain is a Canadian company. Most of our french fries are McCain.
- atheinostic, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4On the Dem side I'd say John Edwards, he has the biggest spread in the polls.
http://www.pollster.com/08presidentialprimary.php - Scoobies, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Ahhhh McCain*
- romistrub, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3So, who's the most electable candidate this time around? Are they any better than Kerry was way back when?
- tobias1482, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4It wasn't so much as aligning with Ted Kennedy as not realizing that most people don't like other people who cut in line. It's going to burn Ted too.
- terracotta, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3It may have something to do with the Keating Five from the S&L fallout
- holzp, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I'm sure he will get this. Digg has his ear.
- romistrub, on 10/11/2007, -3/+6Oh my good god. That scares the living crap out of me. Idiocracy, here we (you, I'm Canadian) come!
- polyGone, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Why don't you go back to digging iPhone and Paris stories?
- bratpack8, on 10/11/2007, -1/+41 down, 9 to go and it's smooth sailing for Ron Paul!
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3That's a pretty good idea..
- kittynipples, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I would never support McCain after McCain/Feingold, where his idea of dealing with corrupt politicians is to take away the freedom of everybody else.
- Charlotte_Web, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Really, the only thing that their departure means is that McCain fired them in order to hire on people with fresh ideas to reboot his campaign.
Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing him throw in the towel; I think that there are better candidates out there. - craftycorner, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3The candidates are all a bunch of dancing horse apples pandering to the flies. I've yet to see one who speaks to me.
- chalkboy, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Correction a womens right to kill a child.
- MadSquirrel, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Propaganda rules the day, the media wants the war to be the issue not immigration, so his problems are with the war?!
- dbwood, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Do none of you pay attention to polls and news. His campaign was not over from the war..he was still running strong. His campaign was shot down by immigration.
- toothpot, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2still a prisoner of war
- drxavier, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2The first time I ever heard of John McCain was when he got caught in an influence - peddling scandal, taking money from a crooked S&L operator. From there he went to become the poster-child for bogus "campaign finance reform" and a media darling. Next to go: Giuliani, as every single one of his state and regional co-chairs gets indicted for something or is forced to resign in disgrace. With McCain gone, Ron Paul is a solid, if distant, third place, and as he says, "on the upslope, while others are on the downslope".
- dankCIA, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1This is kinda sad. Not too long ago McCain seemed like a good candidate but over the past months he's proceeded to shoot himself in his own foot almost as much as bush did.
- Leopards, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1As a long time Democrat he was the only Republican that I ever thought about voting for! Then he started to sound like all the rest of them! He made it a lot easier for me come election day!!!
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1@scotty1204
you must be new here at digg. Cuz' you don't say ***** about Ron Paul. - geekee, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Ron Paul is way behind McCain. If McCain's chances are over, what hope does Ron Paul have?
- Antebios, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2First off, how is he a war hero? Did he swoop in with guns a-blazin' and save a platoon? No. He survived a horrible horrible prison camp. Heck, I'm not going to complain about a splinter or headache around him, no sir-ee. But, as a politican: He's an IDIOT! One nail in his coffin was his support for the lame Let's-Grant-Them-Immunity Immigration Bill of 2007.
