- thoughtlover, on 11/13/2008, -1/+238They want to deliver vast amounts of votes over the electronic voting machine. And again, the electronic voting machine is not something that you just dump something on. It's not a big truck. It's a series of tubes. And if you don't understand, those tubes can be filled and if they are filled, when you put your vote in, it gets in line and it's going to be delayed by anyone that puts into that tube enormous amounts of material, enormous amounts of material.
- mobislink, on 11/13/2008, -4/+227Get rid of that scumbag.
- diggface5000, on 11/13/2008, -3/+204WHY ARE YOU VOTING FOR A CONVICTED FELON?? Are people really so narrow minded that they'd rather vote a straight ticket and vote a felon in than vote for the other side??
- grungegbunny, on 11/13/2008, -8/+142Between Pailn and Stevens it should be obviously clear that Politics in Alaska are corrupt.
- woofers07, on 11/13/2008, -4/+112Seriously... ***** that guy.
- WSPanic201, on 11/14/2008, -1/+82Kinda weird: Felons can't vote, yet they can run for office....uhhh
- guestaccount, on 11/13/2008, -3/+64Flush him down the tubes.
- TheJimid, on 11/13/2008, -7/+67Sweeeet now lets hope Al Franken can take the lead.
- inactive, on 11/14/2008, -0/+59Begich Trailing Stevens by 7 Felony Convictions.
- cle2105, on 11/13/2008, -3/+55I hope he gets sent to federal pound-me-in-the-ass prison
- Murdats, on 11/14/2008, -1/+50wow, this is a guy who basically built the bridge to nowhere and tried to destroy the internet as we know it while knowing nothing about it.
he obviously votes as he is paid to vote and you think he still makes a good senator?
you must have loved bush then if you don't mind corrupt people running things. - Zervaman, on 11/14/2008, -0/+48Err...shouldn't there be a law barring convicted felons from public office?
Can't vote, can't buy guns, but feel free to run for senator! - inactive, on 11/14/2008, -0/+42After the positions he took on Net Neutrality, I wholeheartedly agree.
He is the perfect example of a politician taking a political stance on something they know nothing about. A very common behavior now a days, unfortunately. - Veni_Vidi_Vici, on 11/13/2008, -2/+38I may be wrong, but I believe that Alaska has no state taxes (not even an income tax). They get all of their money from taxes on oil revenues that they sell to us lower 48 states. Once the government has spent the money that they wanted to spend, they send out checks to the residents. Ted Stevens helped create this system. That's why at the airport, 2 days after being convicted on 7 counts, he was greeted with wild applause from a large, enthusiastic crowd.
- duggdowncatisad, on 11/14/2008, -0/+31Kinda scary that 49.99% of the voters would vote for a convicted felon.
- sulthernao, on 11/14/2008, -1/+26That's like the entire population of Wasilla!
- Syric, on 11/14/2008, -0/+24800 votes... is that a lot, in Alaska?
- inactive, on 11/14/2008, -0/+24The position this guy takes on anything is controlled solely by his pocketbook and whoever can line it the best.
@aimano
Usually the polls around election time are very accurate and translate well to real world votes. Stevens was down 20 points right before the election, then, inexplicably, he wins. Now, how the hell do you explain that 20 point gap? There is no logical reason outside of plain old fashioned vote rigging. You can say polls are wrong all you want, but they are never THAT wrong.
So 50ish percent of Alaskans DIDN'T vote for that guy, that's the whole point. - coltrane68, on 11/14/2008, -2/+25How does one get in the voting booth and pull the lever for the indicted guy?
- Jareth86, on 11/14/2008, -3/+23I hope he loses. I'm sick of hearing about Palin. I'm sick of her stupid voice, her stupid hairdos, and her fake folksiness.
- 01010110, on 11/14/2008, -1/+21This is a great example of why it is so important to vote.
- ahjkl67435, on 11/13/2008, -5/+25hopefully, another step closer to a fillibuster proof majority for the dems.
- kronix2, on 11/14/2008, -0/+19"I know several quality individuals who are prior felons...just because you've made a mistake doesn't mean you're not capable / skilled / capable of reforming your ways."
He was convicted what, a week ago? You're telling me that it only took him a week to stop being a corrupt criminal bastard who legislated based on which lobby could deposit more in his bank account? - traveler1217, on 11/13/2008, -5/+24 A voting constituent bought and paid for.... :(
- inactive, on 11/14/2008, -4/+23and that voters in Alaska are retarded. You can steal an election, but it still has to be somewhat close in order to steal it.
- Dweller99, on 11/14/2008, -0/+18"there are actually legitimate reasons why people like Sarah Palin in Alaska."
Like the extra $1200 she pushed for every Alaskan earlier this year. - Shaggy3, on 11/14/2008, -1/+19Bye Stevens
Bye Palin's chance of sneaking into the Senate - DreKor, on 11/13/2008, -1/+19Do you realise that other countries are very good at fouling things up, even if they don't have American Republicans in their government? It's not about the Party, it's about the mindset.
- mithrasinvictus, on 11/14/2008, -0/+17He even got to vote for himself.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27458627/ - sulthernao, on 11/14/2008, -0/+16For bribery and corruption?
- ebolaworld, on 11/14/2008, -1/+17I hope Ted Stevens loses so we can avoid a Sen. Sarah Palin.
- GBPACKGB, on 11/14/2008, -1/+17Yeah, 50%+ are voting for him... That's why he's LOSING.
- rjhomuth, on 11/14/2008, -1/+16He's a FELON! How is he even in this? How does that happen for Christ's sake?!
- Vincent21212, on 11/14/2008, -3/+18The reason is incompetence. Governing Alaska is the easiest ***** job in the country! THAT IS IN NO WAY AN OVERSTATMENT. Redneck Alaskans found it more important to have ***** and ass in office, then it was to have a competent governor. But, that's irrelevant to Alaskans well-being. As socialist as that state is, the Northerners will be well off, no matter what dunce they elect to office. They're sucking off the oil companies teat until the wells run dry (which will not happen in 100 yrs).
I could run Alaska while battling Alzheimers. And I'm autistic! - TheRhinoceros, on 11/14/2008, -0/+14You hear the question alot....Why are they voting for the felon?????
Maybe the felon gave them stuff they wanted! It's an old saying, but it's true...
If you rob Peter to pay Paul, you can always count on Paul's support. - Stap1eGun, on 11/14/2008, -0/+14Why is this getting dugg down? I also like the idea of some bigwig shelling out $29,000 for a fish statue to bribe a senator only to have him lose his office.
- inactive, on 11/14/2008, -1/+15How could the Republicans let this guy run again? They should have "persuaded" him to resign. I really hope this ***** loses, not only will that be the final nail on the McCain / Palin ticket but it'll also make it impossible to her to become a Senator any time soon.
HEY STEVENS, JAIL IS NOT A BIG BUILDING, IT'S A SERIES OF BARS! - inactive, on 11/14/2008, -4/+17Oh TSK05, the election is over, this is troll hibernation season. Go back to your hovel, wack off to furry porn, and go to bed.
Good night, sweet prince. We will see you next spring. - dancindrudge, on 11/14/2008, -1/+14geez i hope Begich wins, i dont even want palin to have a glimmer of hope by getting into congress... that would be a friggin nightmare...
- Elranzer, on 11/14/2008, -0/+13"Nobody gives a *****."
Yes we do, actually.
"The democrats aren't going to win a super majority in the Senate."
Yes they are, actually.
"Granted he's a felon...but if he's a damn good senator...it doesn't matter if he's a felon."
First of all, it DOES matter if he's a convicted felon. Second, he's NOT a "damn good senator."
"If 50%+ of the population of Alaska are still voting for him...it's what the electing state WANTS."
If he's losing by 800+ votes, apparently Alaska WANTS a different senator.
"I know several quality individuals who are prior felons...just because you've made a mistake doesn't mean you're not capable / skilled / capable of reforming your ways."
Prior felon means years ago one was a felon, served time or did their punishment and redeemed themselves (hopefully). Stevens was charged as a felon LAST MONTH.
You're so full of fail, I'm surprised Digg hasn't collapsed on the weight of your post. - LilRabbitFooFoo, on 11/14/2008, -3/+16Isn't is amazing that now that they suddenly found all those missing ballots, Stevens is losing the count?! I'm shocked, SHOCKED, I say.
- ironhide, on 11/14/2008, -0/+13That's brilliant. You want a corrupt felon to be re-elected in order to spite some random people on the Internet.
- moto526, on 11/14/2008, -2/+14Hey Ted, GET THE ***** OUT!
- Dweller99, on 11/14/2008, -1/+13We don't care what you did, just keep brining us the pork!
- Acqua206, on 11/14/2008, -0/+12Bravo.
- CVL4317, on 11/14/2008, -0/+12you make my day
- pintomp3, on 11/14/2008, -0/+10a democracy cannot function without an informed public. that's why they have been so quick to deregulate and let the media consolidate. it's also why they are so quick to defund public schools and things like PBS.
- analogkid01, on 11/14/2008, -0/+10Using the phrase "a damn good senator" when referring to Stevens is kind of like saying "You're doing a heckuva job, Brownie."
- rz8472, on 11/14/2008, -1/+11Forget the applause AT the airport... the airport is named AFTER him. Unless there's another Ted Stevens I haven't heard about.
http://www.dot.state.ak.us/anc/index.shtml - sulthernao, on 11/14/2008, -1/+11Alaskan law has been changed because that's exactly what Palin's corrupt predecessor did. So thank god that Palin will not be able to appoint herself to the senate. I think I've had enough Palin for a lifetime.
