To conservatives, if it's an important issue of the day, then Democrats must have no stance on it, or if they do have a stance on it, it's the worst position imaginable.
This statement by Hastart simply feeds into the consevative myth that Democrats want to be the party of illegal immigrants. Republicans have no way of supporting this claim, so they just make ***** up to make the myth seem plausible, at least for another two weeks before they can start ignoring the base again. - whiskeymb, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4yup, lies... lies lies lies. Let's all repeat the rhetoric of the current republican incumbents:
lie to save your job
lie to save your job
so sad, so pathetic. I sure hope the exposure of all these lies gets into the heads of the voters so they realize how bad this country needs a good "flushing" of our current leaders. - adb22791, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3You would think Hastert would lie low after the entire Foley scandal where a good chunk of America was calling for his resignation, but I guess he doesn't understand how to not repeat his same mistakes twice. Lies are a problem with this administration (not Republicans in general, look at how many have come forward to reveal truths about Iraq), and the soon the November election comes around the [hopefully] better off we'll be.
