- Nougat, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21All men have been defeated by "bush" at one time or another.

- TheIguana, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10Do you even have the slightest clue of the history between Cuba and the United States pre the Cuban missile crisis?

You're the guy who gives all good and civilized Christians a bad name.
You should be given your on show on the Anti-Role-Model Channel, people not to imitate.
Besides that, The FSM loves you despite your obsessive pursuit of ignorance. May you be touched by his Noodly appendage. - Rickler, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7I hope god gives you the blessing of his best work yet.. the human immunodeficiency virus.
- dwhitbeck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I guess as of now, Castro is only mostly dead.
- Urusai, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Gee, I thought Cuba had world class medical treatment. What's next, are they importing Dominican cigars?

God dragged his ***** heels on this one. - ubpsanity, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4They were predicting he wouldn't make it to see Xmas, lets hope Castro proves them wrong and pulls through.
- LibertyVista, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3This is a fine demonstration of how nationalized health care works, or rather doesn't.
- CanceledCzech, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Obviously trolling.
- ubpsanity, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4So, you've got all these Vietnamese, Cambodian and Chinese people that left Cuba? I think that's what you were trying to say.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7when castro dies cuba will be a very wealthy country, assuming they get a US friendly government.
Yanks will flock to the shores for vacations and cigars. The people of cuba will make out like bandits. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3So much for Cuba's vaunted medical system.
- devindotcom, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Your ignorance and bias is so obvious I'm not going to address your non-points. Go back to Kansas.
- fmayson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2ok dude, that makes no sense. it is illegal for an american citizen to purchase goods from cuba.
- cheesehead, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Good point. If Bush dropped dead would American policy change much?
- skeeto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I think the people of Cuba will still, overall, be screwed. I can see the elites that play ball with the power shift and corporations making out like bandits before the common people do. Would not surprise me to see a revolution there within 20 years after they get a "taste" of a real Democracy, but get tired of being shafted by people claiming to be working for their best interests while actually raping them/selling them out. So Cubans will be forced to take matters into their own hands and put people in who will work for them, while pissing off US corporations in the process (again), which will probably lead to whoever is the "leader" at the time making threats in their direction on behalf of Wallstreet. Something similar is happening right now. See present day Venezuela/Hugo Chavez, who, despite how the US media portrays him, is loved there for what he's doing.
- andrew1193, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3"Huh? The only thing thats been preventing that in the first place is the big bully of the world, America, and its stupid 'lets hurt as many people as we can' foreign policy!!"
Really? So America prevents Cuba from trading with the rest of the world? - Stevethegreat, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4US kind of democracy I guess, like the Iraqi one. Hurray for the redefinition (rape is a more suitable word, but censorship will cut my comment out) of democracy
- vhold, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"yeah only that the guy who went to cuba studied in a Cuban University'
Where did you get that information? - happycat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"Really? So America prevents Cuba from trading with the rest of the world?"
Ya they do! The embargo against Cuba is extremely viral. A NON-American container ship that docks in Cuba is not allowed in an American port (or american controlled port) for 6 months. Any NON-American company that deals with Cubans that posses or work for someone who owns property that is believed confiscated from the US can have their US assets seized and the executives can be banned from entering the US. That essentially prevents dealing with all Cubans since almost everyone in Cuba works for the government, who in turn owns the property.
On some level I hope the embargo stays because it's such a joy to vacation on the beach that does not have any Americans.
- floorman56, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4The plane carried medical equipment not available in Cuba
What? I thought the medical care in Cuba was BETTER than the U.S. and FREE!!! Isn't this why people want us to use there model for U.S. heath care?? - Dellitron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This guy still needs to "PAY UP" for Crimes Against his people - this Swine has held those people
back for 40 years Castro -
Forbes Top 50 Richest People in the World. - Good Riddens Castro your days are OVER ! - emptycan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It just shows that the Cuban health system, that many Castro supporters point as a great achievement of his regime, isn't that great and that our capitalist system still works best. Since El Comandante doesn't trust his so well trained surgeons enough not to call someone from abroad to treat him.
Apart from that, a fully nationalized health care really doesn't work. I can tell you from my own experience that it only leads to a corrupt and crippled system. Sure, theoretically you get free health care. But, unless you have friends in the medical community or bribe someone in the system, you won't get much for free.
Most countries have a basic nationalized health care system(urgencies and the like), but for more advanced interventions, you still have to pay. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -11/+12Huh? The only thing thats been preventing that in the first place is the big bully of the world, America, and its stupid 'lets hurt as many people as we can' foreign policy!!
- rlh1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Nope, I'm replying to the comment above -->
""You guys don't know the first thing about communism, so don't start with all the comments saying "finally" or ***** like that.
Learn, then talk.""
I was disputing his implied claim that the communism is not so bad. I've heard quite a few stories from these guys about their lives under communism. None it was pretty. Castro may be the "Commie Lite" of the communist world but it is still the old saying...You can tell the quality of life in a country by seeing if the people are dying to get in or dying to get out. - h0mi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Amazing, that in spite of the embargo, lo and behold Spain was able to send medical equipment to Cuba.
You can argue that the embargo is therefore ineffective, which I tend to agree with (though I'm not in favor of lifting the embargo), but it also demonstrates that in spite of whatever difficulties the embargo presents for other countries (ie see Happycat's remarks above) it's still possible for other countries/companies to deal with Cuba. - Ekdog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"This is a fine demonstration of how nationalized health care works, or rather doesn't."
How is that, LibertyVista? Are you not aware that Spain, like all other advanced countries in the world--with the exception of the United States--has national health care? Please explain how Cuba's requesting help from a country with a system that guarantees all of its citizens (and residents, by the way) demonstrates that "nationalized health care" doesn't work. The system that needs to be fixed is the one in the U.S., where millions of Americans have no insurance and can't afford to be treated. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+7And Bush's only triumph will be that he gets an even bigger parade than castro in hell when he finally gets there!
- kingygk, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2It depends on what is is :)
- VortexICS, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Castro has been an important international figure, on one side I admire him. On the other side, he has killed and repressed the cuban people for too long, it is time for a democracy in Cuba.
- dshipper, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4its about time he croaked...vive la revolution haha
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2"pinkos"?
Seriously?
Are you from the past? - kingygk, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2@ VortexICS I would love a bottle of what ever prescription drug you are on. Castro is a Communist bastard.
- rlh1, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1If your ever in Salt Lake,. I'll put you in touch with 30 Vietamese, Cambodians and Chinese that I work with. They've got some really nice things to say about their lives under the communists. Can't understand why they all risked their lives fleeing such a nice system??
But back to the main subject. It's too bad that Castro dies in his bed instead of meeting the families of the people he lined up against the walls. - yuko511, on 10/12/2007, -10/+7Hah hopefully the death of Fidel will soften the regime in to getting with the (free market) program and ending their people's suffering.
- hiscity, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2My enemy is still satan, and I would love nothing more than to see Fidel Castro turn away from the darkness he has been part of and turn to Christ now, during his time of greatest need.
No matter how deep the hole we dig for ourselves -- Jesus is still the only way out of it.
And I hope he's still aware enough to understand that it's not religion, nor the church, nor angels, nor saints, nor any penance that we can do ourselves, that can give him eternal life -- only Jesus.
As one human being to another I do not wish him harm and pray that his transition be eased.
Let there be peace. - PabloIV, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2Yeah, since outlasting a man in his 80's, who has had several attempts on his life, after fighting a revolution, should be a really tough task.
How did Bush ever got elected president will forever elude me. -
