- yocouchdigga, on 10/24/2009, -2/+103There aren't words to describe the awesomeness. Billionaires for Wealthcare ***** rock.
- bbr4nd0n, on 10/24/2009, -3/+98they would have gotten more air-time on cable news if they had simply screamed nonsense they heard on am radio or punched somebody.
- borez, on 10/24/2009, -3/+67Well it's one way to protest.
Hardly a flashmob though. - LeonDiggsby, on 10/24/2009, -0/+42or called someone a Nazi and slurred some random incoherent ***** about death panels.
- Xencor, on 10/24/2009, -5/+44flashmob? there were what, 4, 5 singers? not even close to a flashmob.
- Maddoktor2, on 10/24/2009, -8/+45Class act.
Take note, rightwingers - this is how to protest without offending. - valetudomexican, on 10/24/2009, -0/+37The security guards didn't know if they could eject people while they were singing.
- newfrickinshow, on 10/24/2009, -2/+36You have to love creative protests and Billionaires for Wealthcare is a great one. I'm just not sure they truly capture the pretentious and selfish nature of the health care industry execs though. Maybe have them kicking around some underpaid illegal immigrant servants and scream at them, “Get over here with that champagne or I'll report you to ICE!” You know, maybe do some crap like that.
- malex, on 10/24/2009, -3/+33Typical right-winger. Can't differentiate between art and thuggery.
- Chooxo, on 10/24/2009, -4/+28Pro-health-reform and pro-gay-rights all in one!
- Chooxo, on 10/24/2009, -1/+24I cringed too, but the awkwardness of the situation impressed me all the more.
The first lady had no backup, and for the duration of her part she was alone as a random loon. It must be tough to sing through that awkwardness so she's definitely doing something I wouldn't have the guts to do. - bfunk88, on 10/24/2009, -5/+27i support their message 100% but am i the only one who felt like it was extremely awkward? since there were so few other people in the room and they sang one at a time at first. the awkwardness made me cringe at the beginning
- Maddoktor2, on 10/24/2009, -0/+20Or packed heat.
- wondertwins, on 10/24/2009, -3/+22Now that's ***** classy.
- Cecconi, on 10/24/2009, -1/+20The sad part is that all the people in that room are already so set in their ways that something like this makes no real impact other than providing an entertaining internet video
- Purplekat, on 10/25/2009, -0/+15What I want to know is how they even got into the building with those massive brass balls they're carrying around.
That was 100% pure win. - Thuktun, on 10/24/2009, -0/+14Based on polls, a majority of Americans *want* the public option.
http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2009/10/20/politics/p ...
Your particular view isn't the majority just because you and the ones you know support it. - LeonDiggsby, on 10/24/2009, -8/+22They may have the money, but goddammit we have MUSIC GODDAMMIT
- jjuulliiaann, on 10/25/2009, -0/+13"while speaking in turn"
LOL - bluemansteele, on 10/24/2009, -2/+14Then please do your best to digg this up and send to everyone you can ^_^
- schroeder, on 10/24/2009, -0/+10They left peacefully as they were escorted out and got their point across. It's not like those townhall arguments filled with anger and frustration. They said their piece and left. I don't think anyone has a problem when this happens on either side.
- xtraa, on 10/24/2009, -2/+11Oh the awesomeness!
Great work! - msmeagher, on 10/25/2009, -0/+9The singers were half the audience!
Nice job. - yocouchdigga, on 10/24/2009, -1/+10You are what's wrong with this country.
- soulpatch, on 10/24/2009, -1/+10flash mob my ass.
- Chooxo, on 10/24/2009, -0/+8"flash mob my ass."
If you insist... - Thuktun, on 10/24/2009, -0/+8Mostly because "Tomorrow" makes people cringe anyway. I still laughed...
- frsrblch, on 10/24/2009, -2/+10It's come to the point where Americans are fighting just to get the half-way reform known as the public option.
How far "off the table" has medicare-for-all fallen that those demanding reform don't even demand it anymore? - Purplekat, on 10/25/2009, -0/+7The point wasn't to sway anyone in that room. The point was to make a video full of win that would circulate on places like Digg so that more people would get their message.
... That, and trolling insurance execs with showtunes. - valetudomexican, on 10/24/2009, -0/+7I'm going to stop calling stupid people idiots and start calling them superkendalls.
- worldgate989, on 10/24/2009, -0/+6Damn you must live in a small community made up of rich people to think the majority of americans want to continue to pay 10k+ for healthcare.
- yocouchdigga, on 10/24/2009, -0/+6The Yes Men are hero's. You shut your damn mouth.
- wild, on 10/24/2009, -0/+5Well, right now IHOP is the only one giving the public options...
- monkeyfelo1, on 10/25/2009, -0/+5I think it would have blown our cover if we had 10,000 people show up to the conference. Just saying.
- thesonofdarwin, on 10/25/2009, -0/+5They left peacefully when asked. Actually, most of them before they were even asked. It's not hypocrisy when it's different. Typical misinformed conservative? I'm not sure how to correctly play this nonsensical namecalling game. Please advise.
- ELCad, on 10/24/2009, -0/+410,000? If that's the your standard then I guess there has never been a flash mob.
- Kombaiyashii, on 10/24/2009, -8/+12I'm not for socialised healthcare but that was a very entertaining display of civil disobedience and free speech.
- iwashere2, on 10/24/2009, -0/+4It's because they have a vested interest in NOT wanting public health care to go ahead... PROFITS.
- levi88, on 10/25/2009, -0/+4goddammit dude GODDAMMIT
- Maddoktor2, on 10/25/2009, -0/+4Forgot the /s tag, eh?
- Meatpuppet79, on 10/25/2009, -0/+4The government seems to be running things fine enough here. Maybe you should just elect a government that can actually run things properly instead of the one that panders to you the best and has the bigger flashier ad/smear campaign?
- nonymous666, on 10/25/2009, -0/+3Not much of a conference. Take away the singers, and there's almost nobody left.
- evilawesome, on 10/24/2009, -0/+3nice.
- asaone, on 10/25/2009, -0/+3Love it, I hope they do some more like that.
- dreamchaser04, on 10/25/2009, -1/+4I see it took you a few minutes to log into your other account and call yourself a flaming liberal.
- evilawesome, on 10/24/2009, -0/+3NO YOU SHUT UP
- pickphlow, on 10/25/2009, -0/+3I wasn't trying to be predatitantic, but civil disobedience is something i associate with people like Ghandi, MLK and Rosa Parks, and it seems unfair to put this peaceful protest in that same category. No need to be rude.
- ThaDRD, on 10/25/2009, -0/+2I agree, and I am for a public option. It was pretty cringe inducing and corny. Or maybe it's because I'm an introvert, who knows.
- dandaman0345, on 10/24/2009, -0/+2Tomorrow, tomorrow....
- endlessirony, on 10/26/2009, -0/+2You pay for it 10X over when anyone who has is uninsured or under insured goes to the emergency room. They cannot refuse them, they are obligated to patch them up, which causes them to come back again and again. You also pay for it when business can't afford the price of health care and for millions of people who file for medical bankruptcies every year.
