- inactive, on 12/19/2008, -5/+40I am shocked!
- ichbinladen, on 12/19/2008, -5/+32I don't not want to associate "Shocker" with Condoleezza "the thing" Rice.
- divinediva, on 12/19/2008, -8/+34These things that have come out regarding the Bush administration over the last two months are not new.
- Hodor, on 12/19/2008, -7/+30<crocadile dundee>
That's not a shocker, THIS is a shocker. http://www.corruptfibers.com/images/products/shock ...
</crocadile dundee> - toefinder, on 12/20/2008, -2/+21Clinton was impeached for lying about an affair. All you hypocrites went for it. Hey lying to congress is a felony. So now where are the truth loving people now...you are just going to bitch while they get away with mass murder in Iraq. Instead of demanding an end to corruption in government and sending gonzales and Rice to the Hague to be tried as war criminals. That's because you are creeps and fools who have forgotten right from wrong.
and all the creeps who dodged the draft in Vietnam and later came to support this war in Iraq i hope you burn in hell - Jlaugh, on 12/19/2008, -0/+14How much jail time is contempt of congress?
- rmxz, on 12/19/2008, -3/+12Perhaps the "pardons" they're going to get are part of that "quaint" (according to Alberto Gonzales himself) pre-911 justice system that shouldn't need to be recognized in this post-911 world.
- thegrantman, on 12/19/2008, -5/+14Buried for misleading title. No shocker here.
- inactive, on 12/19/2008, -9/+18Maybe we could get the shoe thrower to throw his shoes at Gonzales and Rice. Then it would be the SHOECKER.
Gonzales, natch, no surprise there. We need to drop kick that sonovabitch.
Rice, still somewhat disappointed. I was hoping she would emerge somewhat untarnished from this administration, but apparently I was hoping for too much. - ashwinmudigonda, on 12/19/2008, -5/+13OK! What are you going to do about it? The Bushies are giving soul searching interviews and signing history textbooks. If no one is going to sue them, stop wasting tax payers money into these meaningless "investigations". They lied. Everyone knows. Now do something about that "justice" part.
- Ralphdraw3, on 12/20/2008, -1/+9False -
It has never been quite clear how the "16 words" got into Bush's 2003 State of the Union... George Tenet and the CIA took the fall but the opposite is the truth - The CIA NEVER believed the uranium story. And the CIA kept warning the NeoCons that this allegation cannot be backed up. The CIA sent Joe Wilson to Africa to check it and he reported that nothing had happened.
Clearly Cheney and Hadley (and Rove, Rumsfeld and Rice too) wanted the uranium/ nuke threat in Bush's speech. The CIA had pulled out similar references in a previous Bush speech. In the SOTU speech, the writers went around the CIA in order to insert the lies.....
reprehensible ....................... - inactive, on 12/19/2008, -5/+13Let us not forget to keep reminding President Obama that he's got an obligation to help bring ALL the people involved in manufacturing this sham to trial for betraying their country.
- AmazingSteve, on 12/20/2008, -3/+10I'm 40, and well aware of Nixon's accomplishments, and NONE of it takes away from the fact that he was a lying scumbag CRIMINAL. Clinton lied over a blow job, get over it. His dick didn't get 3000+ soldiers killed and run up an near fatal deficit. In fact it left quite a surplus behind and not just on the dress. You butt hurt Republicans really need to come to terms with a great many things over the next little while and stop grasping on bits of your sunken ship. Stop saying moronic things and maybe you'll be talked to like an intelligent adult. Clinton, it cracks me up every time it gets trotted out. Nobody cared then, even fewer care now. Now, off you go sport.
- urgeigh, on 12/19/2008, -0/+7That was sarcasm at it's finest, sir.
- petebot, on 12/19/2008, -5/+11O RLY?

- inactive, on 12/19/2008, -5/+11Shocker? WTF is this, Drudge Report?
- shutaro, on 12/19/2008, -2/+8I think he asked you first, dude.
- dha07030, on 12/19/2008, -1/+7Somebody dugg up the troll. Haha
Btw I hate you iloveobama - minimitable, on 12/20/2008, -0/+6Apparently none.
- AmazingSteve, on 12/20/2008, -0/+6It's OK, They're on Junior's 78 volume pardon list.
- AmazingSteve, on 12/20/2008, -2/+7But, But, But CLINTON!!!!!!
Bwaaaaahahahahahahahahahahaha!
Welcome to 2008. Wanna talk about Nixon? Back to the kids' table moron. - roguenkatz212, on 12/19/2008, -0/+5Got to keep up appearances!
"I'm shocked! Do you hear? Shocked to discover that gambling is taking place in this establishment!"
"Here's your winnings sir."
"Oh! Thank you very much!" - mywhitenoise, on 12/19/2008, -4/+9Condoleezza Rice sounds like a Mexican dish, maybe we should put her on a plate and send her to Mexico so the Mexicans will eat her!
- Jlaugh, on 12/19/2008, -3/+8He's one of the ones who was in the senate, I haven't seen the useless democrats lining up for that one in the last two years.
- mikelieman, on 12/20/2008, -0/+4Good thing they replaced all the honest United States Attorneys with corrupt political hacks, eh? That's the reason no Grand Jury is hearing about these clear violations of both 18 USC 1001 and 18 USC 371..
"Rule of Law"? "Equal Protection"? "Due Process"? - roguenkatz212, on 12/19/2008, -7/+11What do you mean "appear"?
- kd1s, on 12/21/2008, -0/+3I'd like to know who is shocked by this. Knowing of the antics pulled by Bush administration cronies over the past eight years there is now nothing they can do that truly shocks me.
Pisses me off, yes. But no shock. - ThsGuyRightHere, on 12/20/2008, -1/+4The issue isn't whether or not the claim was accurate. The issue is whether or not Gonzales truthfully represented the CIA's communication to the administration. If the CIA never certified the claim as being reliable, and Gonzales said they did, then he lied. With his claim that the agency "orally cleared" the statement, this will turn into he-said-she-said with Gonzales ultimately falling back to his favorite defense of "I don't recall".
- inactive, on 12/20/2008, -0/+3actionable?
- ThsGuyRightHere, on 12/20/2008, -1/+3Nobody cares. The socialist slur was clearly damaging to Obama in the election, by all means keep playing that broken record. It's clear that THAT'S ALL YOU'VE GOT. Not only is it your only argument against Obama, but that line of ***** is the only drivel you can spout in a sub that has nothing to do with your president-elect. Go away.
- AvangionQ, on 12/20/2008, -0/+3The Digg title sarcastically calls this a shocker; I think its more of a shocker that Congress, upon learning that members of the White House had lied under oath in front of a congressional hearing, did nothing -- when the proper course of action would have been to issue subpoenas and recall them in front of the congressional hearing, and directly address their lie so that it would be clear that they would be charged with perjury if they lied under oath again, then if they repeated their fraud, they should have been arrested *on the spot*, held for high crimes, and stripped of their position.
- inactive, on 12/19/2008, -2/+4Don't watch the movie nalin paylin then.
- bullhead2007, on 12/20/2008, -0/+2Actually Clinton was impeached.
Impeached != kicked out of office.
The impeachment trials were the impeachment. It's just that it didn't result in him losing his office. - toefinder, on 12/21/2008, -0/+2yes Bullhead that is correct...Shame that you have to teach elementary civics lessons to grown adults
- mikelieman, on 12/20/2008, -0/+2That's the job of the Department of Justice and the United States Attorneys, isn't it?
I wonder why the United States Attorneys aren't presenting this to any Grand Juries for indictment?
Are the United States Attorneys all "Soft On Crime" just because it's the President, Vice President and Cabinet committing them?
If Martha Stewart can go to prison... If Marion Jones can go to prison... Why cant George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Rice and the rest of them?
And is America worthy of ANY respect if these high level felons are permitted to escape justice?
"With Liberty And Justice For All", right? - diggerdeedo, on 12/19/2008, -3/+5(Getting the shoes ready for throwing.)
- elo91, on 12/20/2008, -2/+4the saddest part of this? the fact that no one in the bush administration will spend a single day in prison after 8 years of blatant criminal misconduct.
- Ysabetwordsmith, on 12/20/2008, -2/+4That's not shocking; it's business as usual in Washington. It is appalling, though.
- Franswahili, on 12/20/2008, -0/+2Ah, the partisan mind control rears it's ugly head. Wake up my friend, Bush (as well as a majority of the Democrats) should be behind bars-- spin or no spin.
- bullhead2007, on 12/20/2008, -2/+4Right == Republican, Wrong == Democrat.
Isn't that pretty obvious
;)
/sarcasm - mikelieman, on 12/20/2008, -1/+3Bush made the fraudulent claim, himself, on TV and live in person to Congress.
Bush is responsible for his choice to either flat out lie to influence all of us to go along with his scheme, or his negligence and incompetence in carrying out the duty of his office to ensure that such frauds are not committed.
In an HONEST nation, Bush would be indicted for his violation of 18 USC 371 in exactly this manner. - hymneforthedead, on 12/22/2008, -0/+1wheres the surprise?
- KegBol, on 12/21/2008, -0/+1So? Most of the world uses "American conservative" synonymously with the words "stupid fat *****".
As for the others... 'Fairness' is what they used to call 'Christian charity' and 'freedom' is what they used to call 'French'. - ThsGuyRightHere, on 12/20/2008, -1/+2dugg for "left quite a surplus behind and not just on the dress"
- twinklyJesus, on 12/20/2008, -0/+1You think "thinkprogress.org" is nonpartisan?
idiot - kareemachan, on 12/21/2008, -0/+1Actually, it's more like 8th or 9th cousins. REALLLLLY distant.
- JuliaXV, on 12/23/2008, -0/+1I trust that was a bit of irony...they do nothing but lie every time they move their lips.
- KegBol, on 12/21/2008, -1/+2Surprised that either of them would be associated with the KKK, yes.
