- washingtonydc, on 10/12/2007, -4/+66the kicker, from the ABC News story:
As the Bush administration's so-called "AIDS czar," Tobias was criticized for emphasizing faithfulness and abstinence over condom use to prevent the spread of AIDS. - Itazura, on 10/12/2007, -3/+60So you can be forced to resign for soliciting a prostituted but not for the failure of war and natural disaster....interesting.
- SqueakyMouse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+47" Tobias, who is married, said there had been “no sex,” "
That cracked me up. - EntropyMan, on 10/12/2007, -6/+43Something is fishy here. An alleged impropriety by a high ranking Republican with _adults_ of the _opposite_ sex?
That alone should tell you the charges are bogus. - Murdats, on 10/12/2007, -4/+32dont forget that you can be thrown out of office for a blowjob
but its a-ok to screw up your country while destroying others - toasty168, on 10/12/2007, -1/+25In our society violence is okay. It's sex that we get all freaked out about.
- TheShadowKnows, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21"I did not have sex with that escort."
- belfastbiker, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20Can you have so many scandles to such an extent that no-one cares anymore?
- diggsIt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19If the 'Aids Czar' only got a rub and a tug - that counts as safe sex, no?
- Y2JCrisis, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20Eh, the worst part about it is that they are hypocrites. Prostitution should be legal anyway.
- scotticus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16---Tobias told ABC News he had several times called the “Pamela Martin and Associates” escort service “to have gals come over to the condo to give me a massage.”---
Yeah, a deep dick massage.
I firmly believe that what happens in your personal life should be personal, even for politicians. The only exception to that is when what you do in your personal life is at odds with something you advocate. Gore deserved to be called out on his environmental impact, Ted Haggard deserved it for getting "a massage" by a dude, and this douche deserves it for getting a whore. In the absence of their political messages, neither of these things should be our business. - KuntaKinte, on 10/12/2007, -7/+18were they male escorts?
- graystar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11In Australia you can trade shares on brothels.
- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12Ah, more classy republican morals. At least they don't believe in anti-american rights and freedoms like those nasty democrats..
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14Oh, as long as there's no need for an abortion, and no little boys involved, well, golly, who cares? It's not like the Republicans are lying, thieving hypocrites or anything. I mean, nobody was hurt except maybe the guy's wife and his kids. And besides, he's nobody important, he's only the Deputy Secretary of State. And Bill O'Reilly assured me it's all lies anyway by the liberal left, which is a bunch of Commies and traitors, trying to attack loyal Republican patriots who are always law-abiding. Except for Tom DeLay, who was probably framed, but gosh, anybody makes mistakes once in a while. Except Clinton. He deserved to be punished for having sex in the White House. That's worse than bombing Iraqi schoolchildren.
- Erfman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11My fellow Americans, I wish to announce our new "hand jobs only" policy.
- orbit1979, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11@ tomis:
I find your argument interesting. Let me ask, during the Clinton years, did you excuse him for committing adultery while on the job? Or are you like the die-hard GOPers who are now doing a complete 180 and making excuses for a Bush official? - ichbinladen, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Yet another Republican awash in scandal... *yawn*
Republican is just a synonym for hypocrite, pedophile, murderer, racist, crook, liar, and/or criminal. - HinDeSky, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9"I wanted a massage, so the first thing I thought of is a high end escort service, little did I know I could have gotten a legitimate massage for $60 from the local health center." said an astonished Tobias.
- dooma, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Ahhh. Republicans. The party for good Christian values.
- AhmedF, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7It is simple really.
""Tobias was a strong proponent of the Bush administration’s abstinence-only policies.""
When he tries to force abstinence down our throats and hires a prostitute himself ... it does matter. - mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6yes. maybe that has been their plan all along.. gradually rack up the severity of the scandals until they can get away with anything.
- orbit1979, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7"Tobias was a strong proponent of the Bush administration’s abstinence-only policies."
This is by far my favorite, and so typical of Republican hypocrisy. Do as they say, not as they do I guess. I guess this hypocrite ***** will have to thumb his bible on his own time now, instead of on the federal payroll. - Sfmobius, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Another hypocrite bites the dust! Karma strikes again.
- lopla, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Bush offers his undying support to another failed sidekick in 3..2..1...
- orbit1979, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Calm down folks, its all part of the legacy of the GOP's commitment to restoring "honor and integrity" to Washington.
- stepnw1f, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6More "Conservative" Family Values? There goes that talking point....
- NewzClewz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Just another Bush Hypocrite.
- stacky, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Well this is bad on so many levels
- pintomp3, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5b b but clinton! you guys act like he was the only person in power to ever have sex.
- NekoIan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4"As Bush's "AIDS czar" Tobias deemphasized the use of condoms to prevent the spread of AIDS, instead promoting abstinence and faithfulness. While ordering up hookers."
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/roy-sekoff/randall-tobias-another-g_b_47130.html - EtherGnat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Yes, I couldn't care less that the man used an escort service. I feel that's between him and his wife, just the same as it was with Clinton. The hypocrisy of being a strong advocate for abstinence and monogamy, however, disturbs me.
- viviwanu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4No surprise here. You can't serve the current president without being a crook and a pervert. It would also be interesting to dig into Karl Rove's dark secrets as well because - like everyone else in the current administration that serves the evil over lords - he's totally anti-human, anti-nature, and he can't stand being touched by a clean and beautiful woman like Sheryl Crow. Is there something about dirty hookers they know and we don't?
- EtherGnat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3He makes a nice pair with Mark Foley, who was chairman of the House Caucus on Missing and Exploited Children.
- amoirae, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3This was a pilot program for the new Bush position on amnesty for illegal immigrants.
- pintomp3, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4since he's against condom use, i wonder if he used one.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Were YOU bothered by Frank's roommate breaking the law? If yes, are YOU bothered by a Bush administration official breaking the law?
Or does something that happened near Barney Frank fifteen years ago excuse the current administration from breaking the law? - amoirae, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I knew something was fishy when her name was Bob, she had a 5 o'clock shadow, and gave me a reach around...
- jlhoben, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Where is the "left" that everyone is talking about? All American media is right wing. I find it so strange that many "religious" people support wars in which thousands of people are killed - including women and children and sanction an administration which uses torture and yet go nuts over an exposed boob or anything remotely sexual. Of course, we need to get all the facts on Republican scandals but when it comes to invading countries we'll worry about getting the facts straight later.....maybe you should reverse this logic?
- kd1s, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's always interesting to see these fundies exposed. They're freaks of all sorts but mostly just sexual deviants.
- djSyndrome, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4"Who cares if he paid someone for sex."
I'd say the police department, for one. His wife might also have a few things to say on the matter. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Is this the story they were trying to distract us from when they made that bogus announcement about the Al-Qaeda muck who was captured, like, a YEAR ago?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Did he hire any female escorts?
- scotticus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@EntropyMan: "Something is fishy here."
I'm sure the whore washed up... geez... the man is a presidential appointee... it's not like he's getting cheap-o skanks. - hellotyler, on 10/12/2007, -8/+9.... so ? people have sex. prostiution is often hailed as the older profession. they ought to just legalize it. the fact that you are forced to resign over this ***** blows my mind. There is far better things to resign over. Stating your own politics for instance.
- Cyberen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1yeah, I'm sure all he wanted was a "legitimate" massage.
- gip7478, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1DId this guy also do Meth, excuse me, just buy it?
This is the same guy who said.
"I also encourage your organizations-particularly your personnel on the ground-to offer their expertise to our country teams as they develop Operational Plans.
After all, regardless of our role in international development, all of us here-and those we represent-share the belief that peace, prosperity, health, education, and the freedom to provide for themselves and their families are the aspiration of human beings everywhere."
AND.. a good college-educated hooker to attend to your personal needs.....for a reasonable price.!!!!! - Cyberen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1say hi to James Guckert for me, Tobias.
- jibbityjab, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Brings back some memories....
Washington Times from 1989...
http://tinyurl.com/4luhs
And a long documentary...
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4946110250157218995 - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0A common theme among many of the Republicans in the news seems to be questionable sexual practices.
Bush had a male hooker, Jeff Gannon, in the White House for over 300 overnights. The Secret Service has logs of all visits and it is documented.
The Washington press corp knows, but does not report on, the fact that Laura Bush and George have separated, possibly due to his drinking and extramarital sexual activities. She has spent many nights in the Mayflower Hotel in Washington rather than remain in the White House with her husband.
Karl Rove is known to have attended gay leather fetish parties and a number of gay bars in Washington. No wonder he shrieked when a woman tried to touch his arm. He's married, but have you ever heard of the term 'beard'?...
Condoleeza Rice apparently was known for lesbian goings-on at Stanford.
Then there's the pedophile Congressman, Mark Foley.
GOP Chairman Ken Mehlman at least is public about his homosexuality.
And we have to wonder about John Ashcroft's tight-lipped puritanism. History shows that the most puritanical are often the sickest inside.
Then there's the issue that Israel has the ability to access all telephone records in the United States, an ability undoubtedly not lost on Mossad, which is probably blackmailing many in US politics in both parties over sexual liasons. My point is that all these people are highly susceptible to blackmail and should not be in office nor holding security clearances.
Also, one has to wonder if the drive against abortion comes from a hatred of women, since banning abortion removes power from women, and more importantly, whether a lot of people with deviant values who hate normal people are in the seats of power. And closeted gays in the administration who oppose gay marriage are obviously hypocrites.
People deserve to be taken for how they treat other people, not for their sexual preferences. I think that people should be able to do what they want to as long as it does not hurt others. But I object to liars and hypocrites in office who demean us all. -
