A strategy of tension (Italian: strategia della tensione) is a way to control and manipulate public opinion using fear, propaganda, disinformation, psychological warfare, agents provocateurs, as well as false flag terrorist actions (including bombings). According to historian Daniele Ganser, "It is a tactic which consists in committing bombings and attributing them to others. By the term 'tension' one refers to emotional tension, to what creates a sentiment of fear. By the term 'strategy' one refers to what feeds the fear of the people towards one particular group"

- davestar, on 10/10/2007, -5/+60Classic Bush strategy. Is anyone really surprised?

- Napoleone, on 10/10/2007, -8/+39What is the line this government needs to cross in order for America to wake up?
Today is the last day I call George W. Bush president. The title no longer applies. He's an aspiring dictator and a traitor to the Constitution, and everyone who follows his dictates is an enemy of the People. - marcomc2, on 10/10/2007, -6/+37Impeach this ***** Already!?! Why does nobody have the ***** balls to do something here?! What the ***** has happened to America?! Either stand up and fight, resist these ***** sith lords, or join them. We need a ***** revolution here, there are Containment Camps, Surveillance everywhere, Habeas ***** Corpus is GONE, protesting is basically ILLEGAL, WHAT THE ***** IS HAPPENING.
- tidu, on 10/10/2007, -1/+32Grounds for impeachment? I believe so.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+31I see nothing in the article saying anything about terrorists strapping bombs to their children. I do see this - "Capitol Police officials have stepped up the department’s security presence on Capitol Hill in response to intelligence indicating the increased possibility of an al-Qaida terrorist attack on Congress sometime between now and Sept. 11."
Sen. Trent Lott (R-MS) ratcheted up the rhetoric, “ominously” advising that “Congress needed to pass changes to terrorist surveillance laws before leaving for the August recess and warned that otherwise ‘the disaster could be on our doorstep.’”
I see you're adopting Bush's tactics. - bluedog16, on 10/10/2007, -2/+30Rep. Harman. (She's in the House, not the Senate.)
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+26isnt threatining people with terrorism, kind of like... terrorism?
- keyboardduder, on 10/10/2007, -14/+38False terror threats? Nah. I know for sure that we needed to get those WMDs, i feel so safe that bin laden was never "caught" and i love all of the fear the GOP uses to get people to go with them. Thats why they're backed by the christians.
- mikelieman, on 10/10/2007, -0/+20INDICTMENT in a Federal Court for say, violations of 18 USC 371, 18 USC 1001, et. al?
- cyclopropene, on 10/10/2007, -6/+24"Just curious: does conspiracy to defraud and terrorize Congress count as treason anymore?"
No. Treason is when you criticize the government or its actions. Conspiracy to defraud and terrorize Congress is now known as modus operandi. - ironhide, on 10/10/2007, -2/+20I still see nothing involving bombs strapped to children in his comment.
- relaxeder, on 04/17/2009, -11/+29Bush is a *****, what's new.
- tblasko, on 10/10/2007, -3/+20You're right, because your comment would really awaken the US.
To the United States Citizens on this thread: We must get leonidas333 to comment so that we will no longer remain ignorant with fear!! Please lobby your support for his comment! - WasabiBomb, on 10/10/2007, -5/+22Amalgamutt=blocked
- FriskDown, on 10/10/2007, -3/+19It's too bad that we're the punchline to this joke.
- EarlOfLade, on 10/10/2007, -0/+15I've called for the arrest of these criminals for a long time and have been dugg down and ridiculed.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -6/+20The senator made allegations without any evidence. He/she didn't confirm anything.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15We caught you in a lie and you can't ***** own up to it? George is that you?
- EntropyMan, on 10/10/2007, -2/+16Masturmind, why don't you read the article first, and then decide if the description fits?
- calu99, on 10/10/2007, -2/+15so the description was talking about an actual specific false threat, no where in the description does it talk about strapping bombs to anyone, so I guess that makes your statement the one in error.
- forgiste, on 10/10/2007, -1/+14Yeah man, just admit that you screwed up. No sense in digging yourself down deeper with your shovel of lies. I bet if you were honest with yourself and others in every facet of your life, you'd come to understand why everyone else on digg is concerned about this story but you.
- Nougat, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12Oh how dare you speak ill of the CIA!
http://digg.com/world_news/A_Timeline_of_CIA_Atroc ... - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+14Yeah, you know I don't live my life in fear of the big, bad terrorists. You repubs are all ***** cowards.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13thank you...I have no idea what he is ranting about.
- EntropyMan, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13What the hell does 'giving traffic" mean? Traffic *costs* them money. Use adblocker so you're satisfied they're not making any money off you and go read the article, or don't waste your/our time commenting on something you didn't read.

No. You're all wrong, 9/11 9/11 9/11
Bush would Never 9/11 use false terror against US!

- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12I couldn't agree more. This country is filled with nothing but pussies these days. The ***** that say "I have nothing to hide, I'm doing nothing wrong." when it comes to wire tapping are just feeding all of this *****. I'm not scared of ***** terrorists, only the ones who are currently in charge of this country.
- pfeester, on 10/10/2007, -7/+17Hey leonidas333, ***** you. We need people who care about the future of our country.
- EntropyMan, on 10/10/2007, -2/+12For the record, and so I don't need to respond to 20 random comments, yes, I confused her with a different official and put her in the Senate instead of the House. It's Rep Harmon. Mea culpa. Now, please focus on the issues at hand.
Second, Confirmed vs. Alleged. What I would have liked to fit in the desc. was that many have alleged what she is now saying, but reportedly, she was in a position to know, being on the intelligence committee, hence confirmed.
However, I am hedging a bit. I agree with the naysayers at least this far: if she has documented evidence, she should present it. I'm sick of the intelligence committee reportedly having evidence of BushCo crimes and not being able/willing to disclose it for the public benefit. Same goes for Durbin last spring (iirc). - darkcooger, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10Though I agree that the Democrats are being really piss-poor leaders in Congress, I can honestly find nothing about our situation to laugh at.
- jigglebilly, on 10/10/2007, -5/+14NEWS FLASH: Bush lied to push a bill?......how shocking!!!
- tHePeOPle, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9I agree. The democrats are quite possibly the worlds biggest pussies. The republicans, on the other hand are fear mongering hypocrites who are so corrupt and inept at leadership that it makes me long for one that can even define the word conservative anymore. Even while sucking ***** from the bathroom stall the republicans in the minority still manage to make the democrats their bitches. I'm so happy to be a ***** independent.
- otakushark, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10I can't recall a single one of these terror alerts amounting to anything--no incidents, no arrests. They sure seem to pop up whenever political pressure needs to be applied, though.
- williamdyer, on 10/10/2007, -3/+12That would be our job. The rest of the world is justified in thinking a fallen America might be a good thing.
- goffy59, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11moron/blocked. Another sheep picking sides.
- calu99, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10you know, I generally don't like to block people, but if you can't make logical, factual arguments to back up your point of view, then I don't have time to waste on you.
- throwingks, on 10/10/2007, -3/+11Once again, things that could've been brought to my attention YESTERDAY!
- Terr01, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8I like your post, but it's too dang spammy for me to digg it up. You'd be better off posting the ten easy steps in a small list, and then saying that the link has more.
- darkcooger, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8It's these kinds of ***** divisions and stupid partisan bickering that has caused so much of our trouble. Thank you, sir, for continuing to contribute nothing worthwhile. Now please promise not to vote.
- stepnw1f, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Not this time. We got your back.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9I'm having a dilemma. I'm soo tempted to block mastertard1nd, but I get so much enjoyment from digging the child down.
- EntropyMan, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10No. She was in the gang of 8 would would be in a position to know if a specific threat (as espoused by BushCo and Lott) was bogus. She says it was bogus, and they knew it was bogus when they promoted it.
If you're saying that happens all the time, I agree with the sentiment, but actually, it only seems to happen when BushCo wants something or wants to distract from something. - LordBalderdash, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9you know, this keeps happening over and over, why don't these ***** do a little research and questioning on their own? they're senators and congresscritters for ***** sake, they should have avenues of exploring information. they complain later that the administration lied to them but they continually fall for the same ***** from the same people. that excuse doesn't ***** fly anymore. do your homework, you *****. that's your job. that's what we're paying you for. stop passing the buck. wake. the. *****. up.
- bubbadawg, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Is anyone really surprised? This has been going on for 6 years now.
- MacEnvy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7House members who were privy to that intelligence committee information were unable (due to Congressional rules) to discuss that information with anyone - even other Congresspersons. That's why. It's not that she "should have spoken up before", it's that she was prohibited by law from doing so.
