- analogkid01, on 05/18/2008, -2/+56"I was driving in Massachusetts one day when I was pulled over. The cop said, 'Do you know the penalty for drunk driving here in Massachusetts?' I said, 'Re-election to the Senate?'"
- Emo Philips - palewire, on 05/18/2008, -2/+31The story has be updated on the page. Looks like they're saying it was a seizure, not a stroke.
"Sen. Edward M. Kennedy had a seizure at his home and was hospitalized today, his spokeswoman said.
The Massachusetts Democrat did not appear to have had a stroke as initially suspected, Kennedy spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter said. She said he is undergoing tests at Massachusetts General Hospital to determine the cause of the seizure." - frascellyboy273, on 05/18/2008, -26/+50jesus christ what terrible comments...
- DreadPirate, on 05/18/2008, -13/+37"great political figure"? What sort of drugs are you on? Kennedy has been a drunk his entire life, and killed someone because of his drunk driving. This is also the same bloated politician that worked to prevent a wind farm being built off of the coast of cape cod because it would "disturb the view" of the beach houses of him and his friends. While I don't wish him ill, I certainly don't think he's that great a political figure.
Of course, the fact that you idolize a drunk says a lot about you and the gutter culture you embrace. - mrogi, on 05/18/2008, -15/+39" I hope Senator Ted Kennedy gets well soon." _ Mary Jo Kopechne
- virtualball, on 05/18/2008, -1/+22I hate to be "that guy" but this is a day or two old. Maybe it would've been FP'd sooner if it had "BREAKING!" in the title :)
- PhoenixAvatar2, on 05/18/2008, -5/+23Ah, digg. Best place to find day old news stories. Seriously, I'm not sure why people bother. By the time any news event hits the FP the description is inaccurate and most everyone has already heard about it from other sources. Digg's great for a lot of things, just not news stories.
- inactive, on 05/18/2008, -9/+28Well, reports now say he is going to be OK. Unfortunately, the same can not be said for Mary Jo Kopechne.
- inactive, on 05/18/2008, -14/+32Lets hope this washed up, women chasing, drunk driving, liberal windbag leaves the Senate. I'm embarrassed to have this tool sit the US Senate of my country.
- adammharvey, on 05/18/2008, -5/+22wow digg this story is already 2 days old and it just now got on the front page.
- Lamadave222, on 05/18/2008, -12/+28Yes, our thoughts and prayers are with the Kennedy family. As for Teddy....we want him to live so he has another chance at being left to drown in a car while the driver avoids the police for 18 hours and gathers a bunch of drunken, high-priced, connected lawyers around him to avoid jail time. Defend this prick, a man who never worked a day in his life and spent his entire political career trying to deprive others of the wealth his family had already accumulated? A man whose mother (or the family) lied about her legal residence so that they could escape being taxed on her estate?
- Trixrox, on 05/18/2008, -6/+20yes
- LMControl, on 05/18/2008, -19/+34Respectful? As in when Jerry Falwell died? As in when Charlton Heston died?
Oh... you mean that kind of respectful. The kind where it's okay to bash those with conservative views, but not liberals who get away with murder because of their last name.
Thanks for the clarification. - pandasm, on 05/18/2008, -9/+20Seizure? More like DTs. He & Jimmah are two of the biggest homegrown enemies of the USA
- LMControl, on 05/18/2008, -23/+34There once was a senator from Mass,
Who went in search of some ass,
He lucked up and found it,
***** up and drowned it,
And now he can't escape from his past. - jbramley, on 05/18/2008, -6/+16I dont wish death and misfortune on others, but this is a sign that he's too old to be involved in national politics. He's 76 and doesn't do much more than lead the radical left wing, it's time to move on.
- jthhtj, on 05/18/2008, -1/+11that would have been Ted Stevens, Republican senator from Alaska
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Series_of_tubes - inactive, on 05/18/2008, -4/+14You're assuming he ever had any.
- inactive, on 05/18/2008, -9/+19The Kennedy family is a great sham. There seems to be this mythical halo around the family. Everyone seems to care about there existence for some reason. Except me. I could care less about these people.
- inactive, on 05/18/2008, -4/+14It took days to get to the front page because Huffpost ***** knew that people would point out that he is a murderer.
They only digg stories if it suits their agenda. - inactive, on 05/18/2008, -1/+10Do they serve Chivas Regal in hospitals?
- skylarsutton, on 05/18/2008, -2/+9Confused why folks are digging you down for this. I for one didn't get the reference until I read the article.
- BloodWenis, on 05/18/2008, -2/+10ba-dom-chihh!
- inactive, on 05/18/2008, -3/+11To me this isn't about his politics as much as the injustice of a man getting away with a crime that a poorer less famous individual certainly would have been imprisoned for. Yet this man, because of his wealth and family's position was able to run for senate and be reelected many times. He also was a serious contender for president. Yet, if I drove off a bridge while drunk, killed my passenger, and failed to report the crime until the following day when I was sober, I would be sentenced to years in a pound me in the ass prison and have great difficulty finding a good job thereafter. In this country, privilege has its advantages whether you're a Bush, Kennedy, or Clinton. Your politics don't matter as long as you have the dough.
- wacomwacoff, on 05/18/2008, -5/+13Is that what you want on your gravestone?
- inactive, on 05/18/2008, -3/+10He's a ***** murderer who left a girl to drown.
- MajorOutage, on 05/18/2008, -0/+7I don't wish ill on his health, just his political career.
- BloodWenis, on 05/18/2008, -5/+11I'll raise you to an 'Oh Hell Yes.'
Out of all the decent Kennedy's that have died tragically, this murdering douche gets to live as long as he has.
P.S. Chow-daaah!!! - mcquitty, on 05/18/2008, -3/+9Yes, because all Republicans did that, right? I mean seriously, can't you understand the difference between everyone and individuals?
So, to you, every Republican sent every troop to war. They forced people to sign up and sent them out at gunpoint.
Now, ElAssoWipo is talking about a single person and you bring up an ad hominem attack. But, I guess that's ok so long as its not about someone you like.
That said, I hope that Mr. Kennedy recovers.
To equal things out, let me throw out my ad hominem... Mr. John Kennedy sent troops to Vietnam and escalated that war. So, how do you feel about him? - vault, on 05/18/2008, -21/+27He'll be fine, actually...Ted gets away with murder.
- WHUFCIrons2, on 05/18/2008, -0/+6Karma swings it's bat and hits! Maybe this is Karmic payback for being a drunken murderer?
- TedLW30101, on 05/18/2008, -3/+8Sorry,
Here is some nice refreshers from the other side of the aisle.
Other, class acts....
http://digg.com/celebrity/Charlton_Heston_passes_a ...
http://digg.com/world_news/Rev_Jerry_Falwell_leade ... - Izult, on 05/18/2008, -1/+5Liberal/conservative, the no child left behind act was poorly conceived and executed. The school that was the pilot school for that asinine program it isn't even using it as it's teaching model anymore.
you want your kids to have a good education, then get involved with the schools if they're in public school and ffs do what you have to do to get their teachers a better salary. For the ***** they put up with from your snot nosed little "angels" AND the parents they deserve nominations for sainthood and a better pay grade. - inactive, on 05/18/2008, -1/+5Not stroke but if you get colon cancer like Tony Snow you get an endless stream of ass jokes and "burn in hell *****" posts on Huffington and DailyKOS
- rock774, on 05/18/2008, -3/+7buried "sen. Kennedy"
- painperdu, on 05/18/2008, -1/+5Wait, wasn't this news yesterday?
- Seawin845, on 05/18/2008, -0/+5Old Ted saw the light just for a few minutes and said, “I hope Mary Jo still doesn’t hold a grudge against me after leaving her to drown in the car many, many, many, moons ago just to save my political career.”
- inactive, on 05/18/2008, -1/+5No, we want him to get elected. If he dies in office, we get a nice, conservative VP as President.
- wright3279, on 05/18/2008, -2/+6Don't forget the daily deluge of Obama spam.
- hlehmann, on 05/18/2008, -1/+5Like McCain, who, if elected as president, would still be in office until he's also 76?
- palewire, on 05/18/2008, -14/+19For anyone who doesn't get Dan's reference, this might be helpful.
http://tinyurl.com/yqvhqj - addysonclark, on 05/18/2008, -6/+11I LOL'D
- inactive, on 05/18/2008, -0/+4Funny how just long Ted took to report on Mary Jo's condition!
- inactive, on 05/18/2008, -50/+55Ted Kennedy's car has killed more people than my guns.
And why should anyone have respect for him...at least as a public official. He views the Constitution as something that gets in the way of his socialist plans. - AntiMe, on 05/18/2008, -6/+11Actually 160,000 people die every day. Although I wouldn't call him a "person".
- hlehmann, on 05/18/2008, -2/+5John McCain will be 72 in August. If he were to win the presidency, he would be in office until he's 76, assuming only one term of office. He's obviously "too old to be involved in national politics." Better vote for someone else.
- malvado, on 05/18/2008, -5/+7"The abortionists have got to bear some burden for this because God will not be mocked. And when we destroy 40 million little innocent babies, we make God mad. I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People for the American Way -- all of them who have tried to secularize America -- I point the finger in their face and say 'you helped this happen.'" --on the 9/11 attacks
--Jerry Falwell
Hell no, he gets no respect for me. - inactive, on 05/18/2008, -5/+8He's a ***** murderer, he left that slut to die.
