Sen. Domenici Announces Shift In Iraq Policy, Calls For Troop Redeployment

thinkprogress.org — Today at a press conference, Sen. Pete Domenici (R-NM) announced that he now supports a drawdown of U.S. troops in Iraq: "I do not support an immediate withdrawal from Iraq or a reduction in funding for our troops. But I do support a new strategy that will move our troops out of combat operations and on the path to coming home."

  • drmobutu, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1It's fun watching the GOP attempt to distance themselves from the President, one by one. Personally, I would prefer for all the Republicans to stay in lock step, and support the President and the war, right through 2008. Then we could vote them ALL out, at the same time, and be rid of them for good.
  • IrishJoe, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Funny how being exposed as interfering in Dept. of Justice investigations, caught lying about it, realizing that the American people disagree with Bush on Iraq and that you are up for reelection seems to give these guys a conscious. It will disappear after November 2008, though.
