- sm0ky, on 10/10/2007, -8/+460This is some really disturbing footage. This has my blood boiling!
- Phantazem, on 10/11/2007, -24/+440If that were my child, I'd be waiting for that security guard to finish work and head home. He would never be heard from again...
- MarkCentury, on 10/10/2007, -2/+356I'm angry.
Any right thinking person should be very angry.
The Mother is arrested because she demands that a man who has assaulted her daughter be arrested?????
A student witness is arrested because he captures this crime on his videophone????
The most disturbing part of this story is what is absent!!!
WHERE is the news footage of the REAL police storming in and putting this "security gaurd" in handcuffs and arresting him for assault?
WHERE is the video of the principal expressing outrage and announcing that this security guard has been fired and is the subject of a criminal investigation?
Ok, it's clear that we're already at war with the criminals pretending to protect our communities and schools.
What to do???? Digging this story and writing this comment which will only be read by a few who already agree with me isn't enough. Calling the school and registering my outrage with some receptionist there isn't enough.
Ideas...
1) Produce a video specifically for distribution to police departments helping good cops everywhere to understand how their authority and our nation is being destroyed by the current epidemic of police abuse.
2) Create a national cop watch organization (or join and support one that already exists) that tracks and FOLLOWS UP on every incident like this. The REAL story here is what eventually happens to this security guard. If he is NOT charged and convicted for assaulting this young girl, THAT is the story.
Ok, I've got the ability and tools to create a video (I'm a multimedia producer) but I don't have the time or money. I'm already battling just to keep my head above water (like so many of us!), but maybe I just do it anyway!
If anyone knows of a national organization tracking and fighting police abuse please contact me!
And let's all carry video cameras...
Mark - nwoantibody, on 10/25/2007, -19/+321When the police is rabid and abusive, and the law favors injustice and institutionalizes all-out criminal behavior, does it become illegal for a citizen to bust a cap in the criminal cop's head? Will his fellow citizens not support him? When is it enough? When your children are raped and killed, or when your children are assaulted and have their wrists broken for being of a different race.
- maxtangent, on 10/10/2007, -5/+298Citizens, keep your cameras rolling - it's the only protection we and our children have against these goons.
- NICKLCANADA, on 10/10/2007, -20/+259This SCAM, PIECE OF TRASH security guard must be put on jail for at least 5 years.
The school must be amended to pay at least 250.000$ for permitting an employee to apply the corporal and psychical damage to this girl.
It is outrageous how our children are treated today.
There is nothing more valuable than a child and we the parents are ready to give our life for them. And the security treat them worst than animals.
SHAME ON YOU SCAM. WE ARE NOT USELESS-EATER OR CANNON-FODDER AS YOUR BOSSES TOLD YOU.
WE ARE HUMAN BEINGS - Scottamus, on 10/28/2007, -1/+170Judging by that rent-a-cop's fat ass I can see why he'd take offense at someone dropping cake.
- Kawolski, on 10/10/2007, -2/+150At the end of the video, the reporter says the guy filming got arrested too although he doesn't say why. Exposing police brutality must be a crime.
- tehbored, on 10/10/2007, -1/+149Holy *****. This is ***** insane! Sue the school and get that ***** fired!
- postingbh, on 10/10/2007, -5/+143"Tonight on the O'Reilly Factor - Do school security guards need tasers to defend against cake spilling nappy heads? Juan Williams thinks so."
- bennyxbo, on 10/28/2007, -5/+124I would expect only a mentally retarded person to behave in this way. This fatty needs some time in the big house.
- Bulldoglaw, on 10/10/2007, -25/+142This is unacceptable. This post-9/11 attitude has got to stop a new civil rights movement is in order everyone has to be clear on this and vote Ron Paul and if we can't get that done take it to the streets.
- FreakyD, on 10/10/2007, -7/+110When will people realize they can't have their cake and eat it too?

- 10lbhammer, on 10/10/2007, -1/+93a short list:
"When a person, being without fault, is in a place where he has a right to be, is violently assaulted, he may, without retreating, repel by force, and if, in the reasonable exercise of his right of self defense, his assailant is killed, he is justified." Runyan v. State, 57 Ind. 80; Miller v. State, 74 Ind. 1.
"These principles apply as well to an officer attempting to make an arrest, who abuses his authority and transcends the bounds thereof by the use of unnecessary force and violence, as they do to a private individual who unlawfully uses such force and violence." Jones v. State, 26 Tex. App. I; Beaverts v. State, 4 Tex. App. 1 75; Skidmore v. State, 43 Tex. 93, 903.
"An illegal arrest is an assault and battery. The person so attempted to be restrained of his liberty has the same right to use force in defending himself as he would in repelling any other assault and battery." (State v. Robinson, 145 ME. 77, 72 ATL. 260). - WarpFox, on 10/10/2007, -42/+131Most homeschooled children believe the earth is 6,000 years old and think that evolution is bogus.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -4/+87The amount of force on a 16 year old girl that breaks her arm is way ***** beyond excessive force. Go ***** yourself.
- cyborgmind, on 10/10/2007, -19/+101Email address that you can write to: bettyv@avhsd.org - it is the District email for the Superintendent.
- Feldman9000, on 10/10/2007, -10/+90 society is going to keep getting worse and worse. It's going to get to the point if we don't breathe as they say we die
- hasahugedig, on 10/10/2007, -6/+86The police weren't involved in this. Just dumb school security guards.
- Beck911, on 10/10/2007, -3/+82sad world sad
- cyborgmind, on 10/10/2007, -6/+84Sorry the email I wrote before had an extra letter - it's betty@avhsd.org.
- siszam, on 10/28/2007, -72/+147Home school your children. It's your duty as a parent to protect. Stop letting the government and "authorities" brainwash and abuse them.
- anarchytv, on 10/10/2007, -0/+73Folks have to realize what kind of ***** has gone down for centuries before video camera because semi-ubiquitous. The military, police, and other self proclaimed 'authority figures' have been pushing people around for a long time with brute force, rules, laws, fear, and intimidation. Anarchists have fought this because once we were those people, and we know from direct experience these are not just 'isolated incidents' and a few bad seeds. Those bullies on the playground you fought as kids grew up to be fat porky cops you see sauntering and waddling out of the all you can eat Chinese Buffet.
- Phantazem, on 10/10/2007, -5/+78So is it better to allow a rogue, racist security guard break a female childs arm, have her expelled and arrested, have her mother fired from her job and arrested, assault the witnesses, and have them arrested as well - for dropping a piece of cake on the floor? Ideally, this POS should disappear off the face of the earth. The only better justice would be if I could give him rapidly advancing cancer!
- krets, on 10/10/2007, -2/+73Someone gave the wrong answer in response to "cake or death?"
- SnuKs, on 10/10/2007, -2/+71Oh well, they're *****... this is on the front page. Good luck with this Knight High School & your incompetent security.
- merdiesel, on 10/28/2007, -3/+67This girl is about to get rich.
- DanOnTheMoon, on 10/10/2007, -3/+65I just called and spoke to a vice principal. I asked, 'If someone beat up your kid, what would you do?"
He said, 'File a complaint." I responded, "I'd do way more than that. I'd probably kick the guy's ass."
To be fair, he said that there's more to the story, but seriously - what in the hell could a skinny little girl like that do to a boss hogg lookin' ***** like that security guard? I hope something awful happens to him, and that people resort to vigilante justice.
California Uber Alles! - 28dayslater, on 10/10/2007, -6/+65Rise of the police state. Get out while you still have the right to.
- greendalek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+56Is it me or are there an awful lot of out-of-control cop incidents rising to the top of Digg lately?
- Drahkar, on 10/10/2007, -2/+58Exactly. I don't care what she did. Unless she pulled a weapon there is absolutely no excuse for her to be manhandled in any way at a school. And the fact that they broke her arm. She could have flipped them all off calling them every foul thing in the book and it would still not warrant that. Period. If she is being a problem they call the parents and have them remove the kid from school. the escalation of having schools punish any disturbance within them with attacks and arrests is extremely troubling.
- DocHoliday22, on 10/10/2007, -14/+68At the bottom of that page is a Youtube video. I advise people not to watch as watching it will enrage you. http://www.youtube.com/v/Tbxa5XfR0p4
- keenonfreedom, on 10/10/2007, -2/+54This is an outrage!
- tidejwe, on 10/10/2007, -0/+50Yes, but due to other students having video phones, we have evidence their story is true to some degree. This is one upside of kids being able to have cell phones nowadays. How many people (including judge/jury) would call BS and blindly believe anything the guards make up if there weren't videos? It's a tough debate...they shouldn't be able to use their phones in class, but for goodness sake, it's a GOOD THING they had them ready and thought to record the abuse in this case...I mean, why did the kid who recorded it get arrested and thrown to the ground? What did he do to deserve that?
- travis712, on 10/10/2007, -3/+53What a piece of ***** rent a cop. Probably race related. He should be fired and charges should be pressed on him, & the school should have to pay the girl for pain & suffering.
- maxtangent, on 10/10/2007, -4/+51No, because it seems Phantazem's intent is to protect others from abuse and to send 'authorities' a message. There may be other ways to deal with it, but when the deck is stacked against citizens seeking justice, what solution do you propose?
- kronix2, on 10/11/2007, -0/+45Reading the article and watching the video, I still can't believe this could happen in a school. Why did the school allow the guards to walk around in shades? Why did the school try to protect the son of a bitch instead of firing him?
The fact that he used a racial slur in the presence of other students shows he thought he could get away with racism. The fact that the school threatened the mother with arrest for wanting the security guard arrested shows that the principal should be fired.
Stupid question: is school security so bad in the US that schools need to hire a team of burly security guards? - josho, on 10/10/2007, -2/+47holy *****. a lot of the stories about cops acting up are pretty intense and the victims totally have a case, but this is just absolutely insane. the extent of punishment, the actions taken by the security, plus the racial slurs, the victim's age, her mother as well, jesus. i hope they sue the ***** out of that entire community.
- AndrewJC, on 10/10/2007, -3/+48So wait, you think that ANYTHING that that 16-year-old girl could have done would've warranted such force from a security guard? Even if she was giving the guy attitude before cleaning up the mess, he had no right whatsoever to do what he did.
And threatening the mother with battery charges when there was no proof was just low, because she still would have had to be arrested, processed and possibly spend time in jail prior to bail, all without cause because of the word of a security guard. - allfatherblack, on 10/10/2007, -2/+46Watching the additional footage at the bottom of the page only made it worse...
- xjscrf291, on 10/28/2007, -9/+49Why is the offending party always a fat, white man with little to no hair?
- Protonz, on 10/10/2007, -15/+54Your fellow citizens are morons. Killing a cop will only make them angry, happens time and time again. The worst part is, the dead pig will be elevated to hero status for some reason.
- maxtangent, on 10/10/2007, -4/+43I wonder who is digging down these comments.
Hopefully we get to see some charges laid for false arrest. - thcobbs, on 10/10/2007, -4/+42< looks around for link >
Umm... and people say I'M a moron. - Ghstfce, on 10/10/2007, -4/+42You are entirely correct. My blood is boiling. I can't wait for the day America says "enough is enough" and retaliates with force. Piss off the hornets nest enough and you will get stung, you can count on that. The police and security are meant to protect the public. But who will be there to protect the police and the security from the public they have chosen to relentlessly abuse?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -9/+46Any cop who does this to a child should be tazed for 15 minutes and if they survive then jailed for a minimum of 5 years.
- trougnouf, on 10/10/2007, -0/+36Don't call this number! you posted Knight Middle School's one while it happened in Pete Knight HIGH School. (you can even see that on wikipedia)
the number is (661)533-9000 - scorchedearth, on 10/11/2007, -3/+39If that security guard hurt my kid, I would kick the living ***** out of him. He isn't a cop. Therefore, he's fair game.
That ***** retard guard probably doesn't even have the education that the girl he injured does. Fascist pig. -
