- dreamtiger, on 08/01/2008, -0/+31Principled Military & Intelligence careerists ought to hate this idea. The rest of us ought to hate it as well. This is extraordinarily bad news. These guys will be used to do what it is illegal for government employees to do. As if government covert ops weren't bad enough...
- Jimbo101, on 08/01/2008, -0/+26There was no need for Blackwater in the past, now or in the future. These guys are the brownshirts of America just waiting to be led by some hard right wing nationalist who believes that America is in dire need of being saved from folks not like them. If the government was smart they would either disband Blackwater or place a very tight leash on them. However, now that I think about it, what if they didn't want to be disbanded and the US government sent in troops to arrest them? Chances are we'd end up with a highly trained terrorist organization on US soil that would make Middle East terrorism look like childs play. These guys really COULD build a nuke and place it in a city.
- RavagesOfTime, on 08/01/2008, -0/+20I would be really scared of what would happen if I didn't know that most Americans won't care. Honestly, if people started taking to the streets, who would be the first ones called to 'calm the situation'? An organization not bound by anything and can get away with anything.
- sk11, on 08/01/2008, -0/+19Isn't it a threat to America's national security when top CIA operatives hire themselves out for profit to foreign governments? What if China offered a large financial incentive for sensitive information?
- theNazz, on 08/01/2008, -0/+17Iraq told the White House to get those Blackwater ***** out of their country... of course, the White House told Iraq to 'go ***** itself'. I guess you can be as ballsy as you want when you have a secret merc army watching your back...
- Nico_, on 08/01/2008, -1/+17A. You can't stop them.
Yes we most definitely can. Apathy is not the answer.
B. As hard as this maybe to swallow, those covert ops team do some serious ***** that needs to be done and are out getting the real bad guys.
This is *****. These private companies look out for the best interest of the customer, getting bad guys is not important.
C. Private firms are full of men and women who are doing the same as the covert ops people are, which is a job in their minds, that is providing food and shelter and a living for there family's.
So are drug dealing gangs. Feeding your family is no excuse for joining a fascist private army, go get a job at 7 eleven.
D. It's pretty bottom line stuff when it comes to military and security ops, yes sometimes some evil ***** happen but hey someone has to do it and well I gotta feed my family and if you live their is allot of job security than in suit and tie corp. America (random job lay off because of stock prices and so forth.) and this is what they chose to do.
No nobody has to do the evil ***** ffs. If you get fired from your job get another one! Don't join a private army.
E. They do it for the same reason you don't. Not cause you have some holy-er than though oh that ***** wrong. You only here one side of the story and yes that side is pretty damn bad and hard to think about it objectively given the circumstances, BUT they do some good you just never hear about it.
No they don't do any good. They are ***** crazy and they kill people for fun.
F. The idea though of them serving other govts. and prolly selling what Intel they get to the highest bidder scares me and is highly likely.
Oh yeah this scares you... How about a huge mercenary army led by insane born again christian...? That's ***** scary.
G. this is suppose to be a response to dreamtiger but i clicked in the wrong area oopsy.
Nobody cares, ***** off you fascist pig. I hope you and your family dies in a car accident. - manifest020, on 08/01/2008, -0/+13These guys are like the equivalent of rabid war dogs and they need put down.
Now excuse me while I go ***** myself. - inactive, on 08/03/2008, -0/+11This is an outrage that most people couldn't begin to understand if they read it. We are such a blind distracted society that we don't know a real threat when we see it. Most people have figured out that the Bush administration is bad, and some are concerned about the economy, but few realize that this is a state of emergency, not just a controversial issue that needs to be debated. We as a nation are on the brink of non existence.
The current issue facing our nation, and I DON'T mean the upcoming election, are the greatest threat by far that America has ever known and we are worried about things that will make no difference soon.
Blackwater isn't the only entity of its kind. A large majority of our "intelligence" gathering is now done by private contractors. Hello, does no one see the lethal threat that this alone poses? - acacia72, on 08/01/2008, -0/+11TheNazz: "I guess you can be as ballsy as you want when you have a secret merc army watching your back".
BINGO. Part of the deal with Blackwater in hiring their dogs for "service" in Iraq probably involved lifetime protection for dick and bush. - canary67, on 08/01/2008, -0/+10no comment for fear of extraordinary rendition...sssshhhh!!
- Glofern, on 08/01/2008, -0/+10And isn't this Fascism? How are we different than those who we claim, as Americans, that we must protect ourselves from? This is really scary *****! When will Americans figure this out in large enough numbers?
- Jimmyb207, on 08/01/2008, -0/+8skabs comment actually has the tone as if he thinks Blackwater is cool. For some demented reason he thinks that they do some good, we just never hear about it. We don't hear about it because there is NOTHING good to report about a bunch of ***** ***** with machine guns and egos so big you need a jet plane to get around it!! Yeah, Americas problems will be solved if we bring the rendition, torture and brutal prison conditions to the American people. Just when you think the U.S. of A couldn't sink any lower.....Surprise!!! No need to send in the police for civilian gun confiscation. Why do I get the feeling they wouldn't take the side of the American people if the ***** hit the fan?? Because they've been bought and sold? Are these guys even American? J.Cofer Black sounds like he doesn't hold any value on human life and the potential for this thing to get out of hand and be used against the common citizen is too great. Americans should be outraged!
- inactive, on 08/03/2008, -0/+5Perhaps it would be prudent to remember that most people are going to be severely outgunned. I'm not saying don't fight them, just don't underestimate your enemy.
- AlwaysAwake, on 08/03/2008, -0/+4Massive structured grass roots assertive, non-violent complete civil disobedience NOW, demanding return of our Freedom, Liberty, and Independence from ALL our local and national public "dis-servants" in government, business, institutions, and utilities. NOTHING else will work for us, and soon it will be too late.
- CoolHandLuke70, on 08/03/2008, -0/+3Even the best armed opponents can be outsmarted!
- kemp34, on 08/01/2008, -0/+3All I can say is wow.
- Hangly, on 08/03/2008, -1/+3Who *isn't* in the private intelligence business?
Not to worry lads, these guys aren't cops. They have no more authority than you do. If they ***** with you, you ***** with them right back. - Hangly, on 08/03/2008, -0/+2There are more ex spec ops on our side than there are in Blackwater.
Jesse V. knows some guys. Really pissed off guys. - FTWmovin2canada, on 08/05/2008, -0/+1Or all the major cites west of the Mississippi... Jericho anyone?
- DrGeee, on 08/03/2008, -0/+1Blackwater is the largest private security firm in Iraq, and it has been under scrutiny as a federal grand jury in Washington investigates the company's involvement in allot of shooting deaths Iraqi civilians. The firm is also under investigation for possible weapons smuggling allegations — violations the firm strongly denies.
- inactive, on 08/03/2008, -0/+1Kroll.
- sicntired, on 08/03/2008, -1/+1That says it all.How was this ever thought to be a good idea? These guys actually manipulated a president of the United States into financing their own personal army. They get rich and we pay the bill, with Chinese money.Wait till they decide they want to call in the loans.
- Jimbo101, on 08/11/2008, -0/+0Of course it is. But as you know, in America, everything is for sale and national security is no exception.
- inactive, on 08/05/2008, -1/+1@skab
You are a moron.
"i'm sure some diggers can stop a corporation with ex spec ops working for them by digging down my comments."
No *****, diggers can stop a corporation by holding them accountable for their actions, rather than just giving up like a tired little girl.
You are EXACTLY what the GOP hopes for. - Skab, on 08/01/2008, -3/+1You can say these things because you're on the other side of the argument. I don't think they are cool at all. Some people who do it, cause it's all they know. and i meant the covert ops teams do some good. no on the other hand of the private firms yes you're correct they do go to the highest bidder. the guys who work for them aren't psychos you get this image from what you hear they do. mercenaries are blood-lusting idiots most have very calm heads, like i said before its a job. 7/11 doesn't have health insurance. like how most people will say the oil companies are all evil ***** when remember they are built up of many people on a board of directors just cause the majority thinks they should drill here doesn't mean 1 if not 5 guys think they should look for alt energy. it's just like how people think all Americans are retarded gun loving hicks like bush, not realizing people like Ron Paul exist. I'm sorry that you arm chair generals only digg up like minded views and can't begin to look at the other side of the mirror. but that's OK that's why i love my country cause you can think what you want say you hope my family gets murdered or whatever cause that's your right.
- Skab, on 08/02/2008, -6/+1a. it's not apathy it's reality. i'm sure some diggers can stop a corporation with ex spec ops working for them by digging down my comments.
- Skab, on 08/01/2008, -22/+1Hate to tell you this but,
