- sweetbean, on 09/06/2008, -18/+260"Before the Palin pick, Obama led McCain by 44 points among female Clinton backers. That jumped to a 54-point lead afterward, 75% to 21%, the poll said."
- jojopumpkin, on 09/07/2008, -14/+172If anything its McCain's "Hollywood" wife driving voters away. She was dressed as if she was at the Academy Awards while at the GOP Convention. What average citizen/voter can relate to that? a $300,000 dress? Come on!!!
- enantiodromia, on 09/07/2008, -4/+94if McCain wanted the female vote he should have chosen Bill Clinton as VP.
- Carv, on 09/07/2008, -13/+82According to the Gallup poll, women favor Obama by 12%.
- akinapb, on 09/07/2008, -16/+71Good, maybe now the McCain supporters here can stop claiming that Palin was such an amazing pick - your political stunt failed Republicans, maybe McCain should have picked a real vice-presidential nominee. Haley Barbour, Mitt Romney, Joe Lieberman, Tom Ridge, the list goes on and on. All qualified, all experienced, all have been tested in the national stage or even international stage. Instead, we might leave the reins of the free world to a governor of 18 months from Alaska who graduated from the University of Idaho, and has never been tested in national or international politics, and basically knows little to nothing in being commander-in-chief. Right, great pick McCain, you sure did fool some people too stupid to look past the facade! I think Hamilton and Adams were right when they argued against having a true democracy, people are too ignorant, and too easy to be manipulated.
- stefyourself, on 09/07/2008, -13/+67I'm female, and I don't know a single woman besides my grandma who actually likes Palin. Come on, McCain thought we ladies were idiots, and that the "oh, I have a vag, she has a vag, we must think the same!" line of thinking would work. *****! Intelligent women know that McCain and Palin want to usurp women's rights. McCain voted against the Fair Pay Act, and the two of them want to do anything they can against birth control and reproductive rights. Any girl with a brain located above her two ***** knows that Palin isn't a pit bull in lipstick -- she's Bush in lipstick, and that's why she must be stopped.
- drunkirish, on 09/07/2008, -2/+53Yeah. Like the woman in the $300,000 dress is going to hold the elevator open for a guy who doesn't make that in four years? COME ON!
- inactive, on 09/07/2008, -12/+61Pliate was a governor, Jesus was community organizer. Who would you vote for ?
- Synn, on 09/07/2008, -1/+44Are you sure about that?
Have you seen some of the hardcore Hillary supporters? - FutureGuy, on 09/07/2008, -8/+48I wish this is true but according to the latest Gallup polls McBush is ahead by 3 points.
http://www.gallup.com/poll/110050/Gallup-Daily-McC ... The only conclusion I can come to is that too many people in this country either have no brains or choose to not use it. Unfortunately it looks like the next president would be chosen similar to the American Idol contest, based on who puts on the best show on stage and with a former "Miss Alaska" (who on stage must have vowed to rid the world of poverty and hunger) that should be easy. The consequence of these two clowns running the country would be devastating for all Americans who don't have at least 5 million in their banks (McCain's half joking remark on what constitutes middle class). For your own sake contribute to Obama's campaigns both financially and by helping educate the brain washed folk why voting McBush is the most unpatriotic thing they could do. - inactive, on 09/07/2008, -6/+43The election is decided on Electoral College votes. Remember the polls in 2004 said Kerry would win.
Obama leads McCain in Electoral College votes by a large margin, and is either tied or slightly ahead in states that the GOP usually take without difficulty.
By all means keep bringing up these little polls, but as you must know, they change constantly. The electoral college votes are where it is at. - pintomp3, on 09/07/2008, -7/+43bush was also a governor. his executive experience did a lot of good.
- powermonay, on 09/06/2008, -19/+53Palin should get used to her new name Fillet- O- Fish...how about guppy?
- pintomp3, on 09/07/2008, -6/+39exactly, it wasn't a $300,000 dress, it was a $300,000 outfit. average americans spend that much on outfits all the time.
- Shaggy3, on 09/07/2008, -12/+45I hate listening to this woman speak, that lipstick line makes me nauseous.
Its been a little over a week since she entered the race. All I have to say is, eight DAYS is enough. - HookmasterCH47, on 09/07/2008, -9/+39Once you go black?
- diggproof, on 09/07/2008, -6/+34The Electoral College begs to differ, but keep acting like the popular vote decides the election
- rald84, on 09/07/2008, -3/+31you still end up at $20,000 which is more than most people spend on a car
which begs the question, does mccain know many cars he owns? - thatdouch, on 09/07/2008, -3/+28Which shows how out of touch republiCans really are.
- TheDreadDiggerD, on 09/07/2008, -8/+31Nothing else will ever fit.
- ebolaworld, on 09/07/2008, -6/+29I was worried before McCain made his VP pick, but not anymore as Palin will prove (and already has proved) to be disastrous and unfortunate choice for the McCain campaign.
- doublebummer, on 09/07/2008, -12/+34Guess this mean a lot of men are voting for McCain, he just took a 3 point lead in the Gallup Daily poll: http://www.gallup.com/poll/110050/Gallup-Daily-McC ...
The backlash has begun. - nullcodes, on 09/07/2008, -0/+22Actually, the Palin pick isn't just to get the Clinton supporters. It's also to energize the conservative base so they show up at the polls.
Remember a lot of people don't vote . so the more u can get from your side to show up the better.
Not that such a plan can't backfire ..you have to walk to the thin line. - cheesegypsy, on 09/07/2008, -5/+26I can say from experience that Sarah Palin has been an excellent recruiting and fundraising tool for Obama. A lot of Obama folks had become somewhat complacent since the primaries ended, since we were all tired from the battle. No longer. She is so far to the right that it frightens even moderates. Most people eat meat, but most people also consider those who hunt exotic animals to be rednecks. She favors teaching creationism, which is so fringe to be nearly unimaginable in 2008, but there she is. Forget troopergate and other unsubstantiated claims, the things she's said and did on the record speak volumes.
- averagemario, on 09/07/2008, -2/+23Bill Maher wants his joke back.
- inactive, on 09/07/2008, -13/+34I'm not sure why I'm on digg this late, but this poll maybe should have waited until the middle of this week before being accurate. I mean, I think we need to get to know this lady a little bit. Or not. ha.
But seriously, I hope this attempt at pandering blows up in the GOP's face. ***** those power mongers and the helpless followers that are slave to those bible thumping ideals.. Amen. G'night digg, i'm out.... - SelfHomicide, on 09/06/2008, -13/+34She should make them flock to me
- shepstl, on 02/11/2009, -2/+22not necessarily true. There's not telling how many of those clinton supporters were only supporting her because she was a woman. Some of those voters could be independents or republicans, and not democrats.
- IphtashuFitz, on 09/07/2008, -4/+23To be fair, it was the earrings that were worth a guesstimated $280,000. The dress itself was only something like $5,000.
- JLSN, on 09/07/2008, -13/+32I think Caribou Barbie is the kind of woman the women love to hate. I stll can't believe we live in a world where half the people would even consider supporting someone who thinks the Earth is only 6000 years old. Stop getting all your ideas from the Bible, it is totally made up *****. Turn on the discovery channel for christ sake and discover the truth.
- phishman3579, on 09/07/2008, -18/+37Why do you people keep suggesting that McCain picked Palin for women and/or Hillary voters. She was picked to satisfy the religious right. Get your heads out of your asses and see beyond gender.
- bdubatdi, on 09/07/2008, -0/+17you mean we're doing business with a guy that can't even grow his own hair? COME ON!
- P0peRatz0, on 09/07/2008, -6/+23Sarah Palin's honeymoon with the American voter is going to be short and not so sweet. When nobody knew anything about her, she looked pretty good. Every single thing that's come out about the way she ran the governor's office or the mayor's office is negative. There hasn't been one single positive item about what she did since she's been in office.
McCain's convention "bump" is going to disappear like a polar bear in Alaska. - susilou, on 09/07/2008, -3/+20It seems more and more that McCain's pick was solely based on her strong "right to life" position. That's going to be the "gay marriage" call to action of this election. In 04 the religious right was energized before the election when the gay marriage vote was put on the ballot.
- mdmcgee, on 09/07/2008, -0/+16It is sad and pathetic that you equate patriotism with the wearing a of "Made in China" flag pin.
- slinky317, on 09/07/2008, -7/+23Give me a break. What is more of a concern to McCain - the religious right, who would most likely end up voting for him anyway, or women, who may be jaded by the Clinton thing and might lean towards a female republican candidate? This was a gamble to get women voters, and it looks like it's failing.
- charm803, on 09/07/2008, -2/+17It was a pretty ugly dress for $300,000.
- BlindingEdge, on 09/07/2008, -11/+26How long til the right-wingers falsely bury this as inaccurate?
- dafragsta, on 09/07/2008, -5/+20RealClearPolitics has it closer than it's ever been right now. I don't think people give a ***** anymore. They want the president that makes them feel the least guilty for just doing business as usual. McCain is just blatantly incompetent and has lived a life of incompetence and has campaigned on the notion that getting caught and put in a POW camp is qualification enough to be president. So the really GOOD fighter pilots who actually completed their missions are actually LESS QUALIFIED to be president. I probably wouldn't say something like that if it was not the biggest campaign bullet point he has. He has no agenda to make the lives of majority of the voters any better.
- GBPACKGB, on 09/07/2008, -41/+56The difference between a pit bull and Sarah Palin?
You can neuter a pit bull. - dericko, on 09/07/2008, -3/+18Keep in mind the RNC was going on right now, and you can see that the DNC gave some bump also.. but in the long run, once Nov 4th gets nearer and more debates unfold - I think the gap will widen for Obama considerably.
Some swingers have small dedication, and will hear one speech and swing that way - so usually the last man to speak is winning.. - sodoh, on 09/07/2008, -1/+15"But I fail to see how the incomes and lifestyles has any bearing on the qualifications of the job."
I don't know, I am pretty sure if I am putting someone into a job to manage my countries fiances, buying a $300K outfit for one night would make me wonder if they were even capable of being fiscal. - akinapb, on 09/07/2008, -2/+16I don't think there is a lot more to learn about her. Seriously. In her acceptance speech, she dubbed herself a "hockey mom" and took much of her speech describing her family to us, rather than describing her accomplishments or remarkable feats which qualify herself to be one of the leaders of the free world. Why else would she fill her acceptance speech with a plethora of ad hominem attacks against Obama? She has literally nothing else to say about herself, so the Republicans inject some political swipes at Obama, thinking it will mask the level of inexperience and mediocrity she as an individual actually has in both societal and political spectrums.
- JR__, on 09/07/2008, -3/+17This is really the only poll that matters in a US presidential election:
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/maps/obama ... - DVision2406, on 09/07/2008, -3/+17Neither is Michelle Obama but she seems to be under a magnifying glass!!!
- drunkirish, on 09/07/2008, -0/+14I think YOU thought he wasn't being sarcastic.
- laserdog, on 09/07/2008, -1/+14@winnestow "socialism"
"You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means"
Have you ever considered that attempting to keep the bottom economic tier out of poverty is what is preventing them from getting angry enough to go burn down the gated communities?
If you ever got rid of those government subsidies in the name of eliminating "socialism" you'd like see a class revolt that may ultimately result in the *installation* of socialism. - Qumahlin, on 09/07/2008, -2/+15Various polling companies show differences. Gallup is no better than the rest of them. Listening to polls like this is pointless most times and generally don't reflect the true outcome.
- sugarazor, on 09/07/2008, -2/+15Let's be honest - that's the race everyone wants to see anyway, Bill Clinton vs. Barack... you could put the debates on pay-per-view.
- TigerStar337, on 09/07/2008, -1/+13The Electoral college has not moved. www.pollster.com
